Good to know for those looking for a smooth tray. Having said that, I do have the beautiful STOKKE Step high chair and we never used specific suction plates on it - so this wasn't an issue for us - we used the ezpz small mat on it and we didn't have any trouble with it slipping off the tray. If our kid tried to throw anything we calmly moved it away and fed him small bites placed the tray directly. A bonus for us was you can take the tray off and wash it easily in the sink, likewise the plastic seat detaches which is good for a deep clean every once in a while. As my baby got older we ditched the baby insert and tray and just pull him up to the table in the chair. I'm looking forward to taking out the plastic seat and just using the wooden high chair part next year. So different Stokkes for different fokkes I guess.

Stokke steps hands down. It fits infants and then toddlers and then kids. I even sit in it. And it isn’t as ugly or enormous as the Tripp trap. It looks like a normal chair for my 3 and 5yr old kids. And we still have the baby set, so when we have friends over we just pop that on the top of the toddler chair (takes literally seconds), and have an instant high chair for a baby. The straps are also easily removable and washable! We had the stokke clikk which is amazing for BLW because it’s SO easy to clean. And more affordable than the steps. But they outgrow it by around age 2, so it doesn’t last as long.

I have the Stokke Steps and I love it! You can’t go wrong with any Stokke high chairs.

My kid can rip them off no matter what surface they are on! We have the Stokke Steps and love it but I don't use the tray except for little snacks and playing. We pull him right up to the table!

We have the Stokke Steps. LO loves the comfy big seat. At now 18m wie took away the baby seat on top and today LO climbed up and seated herself for the first time.

I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like OP is talking about the Stokke Step high chair (bad), and others are vouching for the Stokke Tripp Trapp (good). [Online review comparison](https://arinsolangeathome.com/stokke-steps-vs-stokke-tripp-trapp-highchairs/)

I really don’t like how the Tripp Trapp looks! So we went with the Stokke Clikk and I’ve loved it. I would look at the Stokke Steps too which has more flexibility for the support in the early days, but it was much more over budget for us and I still think the Clikk is one of our best baby to toddler purchases.

We have the Stokke Steps, and suction cups do not attach to the tray at all, and that includes the Stokke Steps ezpz placemat, which was incredibly irritating to discover. We've definitely tripped on the legs (not nearly as badly as the Ikea Antilop though.) I've been incredibly happy with this chair though, it's in my top 3 best buys for baby for sure. Straps are very easy to use, the whole thing is so easy to clean. Buddy's graduating from the baby seat now and we're looking forward to this chair being at our table another 5 years. Ours is black and looks SO nice.

Shocked more people don’t recommend or know about the stokke steps! Easier to clean than the Tripp trapp but same concept. One of our enduring favorite products, two years in.
Thread: "Your favourite affordable high chair?"
The stokke ones are on marketplace but they go fast. I got the steps version- the full thing off of marketplace in your price range. There is also a website called good buy gear that sells open box baby gear that occasionally has open box versions but again they go fast. They even had an open box mockingbird high chair. I believe the graco blossom does the same thing as the stokke steps though, it’s just bulkier. My oldest would run into it.

I have the Tripp trapps follow up, the Steps. I live it. One crevice, the tray detaches so it can be cleaned in the sink. Yes, it's plastic, so I never put hot food on the tray itself, but if you're going to use plastic, a useful chair is a good place. Kid's almost 3 now and gets on and off by himself. I totally believe we'll use it for another few years.

We got the stokke steps and looooove it. I personally liked the look of it better, and it is easier to clean than the tripp trapp imo.

Is the Stokke Steps pretty stable? I have a real wiggler and fear tipping. I’m torn between this one and the bugaboo, but can’t find a ton of reviews on either.

We just ordered this. I hope it works out for us 🙏🏻
Thread: "Best High Chair?"
We have a hand me down Tripp trap at the in-laws and a stokke steps at home. Both are great. The TT might even be better! But I liked the look of the steps more.
Thread: "Recommendations for a high chair (that are not ikea antilop or stokke tripp trapp)"
There's Stokke 'steps' which they made because of the feedback about the crevices on the Tripp trapp.

We have the Stokke steps chair and we love it! The infant seat is large and will be usable until my boy is able to sit up properly. I never meant to get trey, but rather just to place the chair by the table. Thank you for the warning though! However we used the the EZPZ plates for our older child and they became sticky and smelly after being used for a while. The worst part was that the started tasting like the soap they were washed with, and would transfer it to my daughters food.

Another vote for the Stokke Steps! We’ve used it from the very beginning with the infant seat, and our 2.5 year old recently found out the high chair part comes out so it’s officially converted to a tall chair for him now which he loves. It’s easy to clean and looks nice too.
Thread: "High chair comparison (Stokke Tripp trapp vs Abbie beyond vs The Lalo)"
I have one of the other stokke high chairs (stokke steps). It's the same idea as tripp trapp, but a different style. No complaints here. When we brought it home before baby was born my older two kids who had already graduated to regular chairs fought over sitting in it to "test it out". So it's definitely well liked. We had the tray but more often than not just pushed the chair to to the table so he could eat with the rest of us.

Sorry yeah I meant the stokke steps

This is hilarious, I have the exact opposite experience. My babies could sit independently at 4 months, but slouched all over in the antilop. It also felt a bit unsteady, I kept bumping the legs, and was frankly ugly. We bought a Stokke steps second hand and it worked like a charm. She sat really well right away! Great straps too, when the escape artist emerges. We bought a second when I was 2 months postpartum with number two. Now, 9 months later, they both use their chairs multiple times a day. They are in great shape despite being in use for years, and I hope that they’ll last for the years to come. They are a little tricky to clean, but I just wipe them down, and sometimes I rinse them off in the shower.
