The Peg Perego Siesta is a high chair designed for infants and toddlers, featuring a fully reclining seat and height adjustability. It includes a double tray for easy feeding and folds compactly for storage.

Pros (+)

  • Comfortable recline for newborns
  • Compact fold for easy storage
  • Height adjustable for various table heights

Cons (−)

  • Difficult to clean due to nooks and crannies
  • Cumbersome during mealtime
  • Some find it heavy to move around

Why parents like it

The Siesta is praised for its comfortable recline, making it suitable for newborns. Parents also appreciate its compact fold, which is convenient for storage.

Common complaints

Cleaning the high chair is a major concern, with many parents noting the nooks and crannies that trap food. Additionally, some find it cumbersome to manage during mealtime.

Best for

Parents looking for a high chair that accommodates newborns and toddlers comfortably. The tradeoff is the time-consuming cleaning process that comes with its design.

Bottom line

The Peg Perego Siesta is a solid choice for comfort, but be prepared for a challenging cleaning routine.

My high chair has similar issue. I use a little brush that is similar to a tooth brush

I have this chair and hate it. I’ve used toothpicks when it’s gotten super gross in the cracks.

Or if no hose / outside available, try a shower.

Thread: "Highchair thoughts-tripp trapp vs peg perego"

We have both the Tripp Trapp and the Peg Perego Siesta. We got a hand me down PP for free with our first singleton, and used it a ton from about 2-5 months before she started solids - it tips back into a nice newborn seat and it was amazing to have her up high in the kitchen watching us do our thing. Plus the wheels were great to move it room to room! When it came time to start solids and actually use it for eating, I hated it. It has so many crevices that are super hard to clean and the tray wasn’t adjustable enough for me. So we bought a Tripp Trapp which I loved! We did BLW with my first and it was super messy, the TT is easier to clean the nooks and crannies and wipe down (though still not quite perfect). We’re buying a second TT for our twins when they start solids in a few months.

We have peg perego siesta chair and we love it. Comes with a removable second tray option for easier clean up and it reclines so you can literally put a newborn in it if you're doing something in the kitchen and all the way into toddlerhood. It folds up but maybe not the most slim when folded so if space is an issue I wouldn't recommend. Many people use the ikea one and it's just fine. As FTM I overdid it with research and that's why I opted for this pricy option. In practice a cheaper one would do just as well. Make sure it's got less crevices and easy to clean...that's really the most important part of the feeding chair. Cause food gets into everythingggggg

I had a similar chair and white knuckled through it for ~6 months before finally breaking down and getting a new one with no books or crannies (Stokke clikk). I regret not doing it sooner 🤐

Used is the best option for budget friendly. Check Facebook marketplace, there should be tons of them. Avoid anything with a fabric cover. We got a peg Perego siesta used, it's nice but I prefer the antique wooden one at my parents house because it's so much easier to wipe down than the pleater seat cover on ours is.

Thread: "To everyone who recommended the Antilop high chair from Ikea..."

The IKEA antilop is truly amazing. I bought my son a fancy peg perego high chair off Craigslist (i got it for super cheap but retail price is ridiculous) and after using it for a week I knew I couldn't continue on like that. Ordered the IKEA chair and never looked back. I use a spray bottle of 50/50 water/vinegar solution and wipe it down after every meal. It's so easy.

THIS. Take the thing out back and hose it off. 😕🤷🏼‍♀️ Best we've come up with and it's still yucky.

I have the peg Perego prima papa zero 3 and the peg Perego siesta. LOVE THEM BOTH!! I was able to use them from birth because they recline fully and gave me a place to put my babies when I'm in the kitchen. The heights are adjustable too, so for a while we just used the high chair in the living room as a place for baby to hang until they were old enough to use it for it's intended purpose. Also also super easy to clean and very comfortable. We have the Ikea antilop at Grandma's and my kids definitely prefer their peg Peregos. I guess they're more comfortable than the antilop. Another bonus, they fold up nice and slim when you don't need them! The Ikea one is always in the way. Edited to add the prima papa is nicer imo because the wheels roll around better for me. I bought both second hand on Facebook and got replacement seat covers on Amazon for $25

I have the Peg Perego Siesta. I like it a lot. Rolls well, easy to clean (it’s leatherette so I just spray it down, but can remove it to put in the washing machine). We have the IKEA Antilop as our secondary chair for outside and bringing places. Would definitely also recommend that one, but get a footrest if using daily.

I don't know if this brand is available where you are, you haven't specified the country you are from, but I recommend Peg Pérego high chairs. The chair is height adjustable and the seat fully reclines. I have the model that is on wheels, so I can move the chairs around easily. I'm disabled and I needed to buy chairs with those characteristics, to help me when I am struggling to bend down to pick my twins up, and to be able to lean on the chairs as I move about the house with them.

Oh man. Solidarity indeed. I also have this chair, and will be taking it outside this week to spray off with the hose. If that doesn’t work, I will be pressure washing those nooks and crannies. I also absolutely hate how difficult it is to take the straps off to wash.

Another vote for these!! My baby used them from week 2 and she loves them. It’s been amazing to have her join in on family meal times, and it’s a godsend in the morning because I just pop her in and she watches me cook breakfast and make coffee.

We have the Peg Perego Siesta. Got it off of FB marketplace for half the price. Used it since day one since it reclines flat. We just started solids, I find it easy to clean since it’s leather, but it does take up quite a bit of space and it’s annoying to maneuver around the house.

Thread: "High chair recommendations other than Tripp Trapp"

We went with the Stokke Nomi! Same designer as Trip Trapp, but he designed the Nomi for his grand kids, so a much more practical, slimmer new age version. Easy to clean plastic, removable straps, slim profile, no fabric, few holes for food to hide, and adjustable height for their bottom AND legs. All great for our baby doing BLW. Our baby girl is on the shorter side, so this high chair was a total game changer compared to the Peg Perego Siesta we got as a gift, which I swear was meant for tall babies only.

Thread: "Peg Perego siesta high chair [ON]"

We got it as a hand me down. It is annoying to clean but my kid is very comfy and well supported in it. The foot support is nice and I liked having it as a spot to pop her down with the full recline before we actually used it as a high chair. It also is adjustable in height so we now have it so our toddler can sit at the table with us without the tray which is nice. ETA: it’s also bulky but does fold up… but since it’s our primary high chair we never fold it up. If I was buying I’d probably go with a plastic option that is easy to clean.

Thread: "Help me choose high chair"

I had the Maxi Cosi Minla, and while it is super easy to use, putting the cover in the wash and then making sure it's dry and put back on the chair in time for the next meal multiple times a week was a pain in the butt. I sold it and bought the Peg Perego Siesta second hand. It is much easier to clean and it doesn't slide all over the place on my hardwood floor when the wheels are locked like the Maxi Cosi.

Thread: "Feeling overwhelmed by high chairs [on]"

I got the peg perego siesta which is very similar to the prima pappa including being usable for newborns. I got mine on marketplace. Most were 100-150 used but I got mine for 50 as it was older and needed a good clean, but the discount was well worth the time I spent cleaning. (I used a dish brush and dush soap and hosed it down in the yard). I basically checked marketplace daily until a good deal popped up. Since these chairs (siesta and prima pappa) recline you can work on gradually transitioning baby to a more seated position and having baby sot with the family for meals leading up to starting solids. In contrast, my understanding is the Trip Trapp newborn attachment is in a fixed position.

Thread: "Which high chair?"

Yeah the Tripp trapp really sucks for us at the moment. From about 12-19 months she’s hated being in it and is always trying to escape. She is too young to remove the baby set so we basically just can’t use it? We got a used peg perego siesta off marketplace for $30 and she loves it. She’ll happily sit in it with the tray or at the table. If I lower it to ground level she’ll climb in and sit down. Tripp trapp might return when she’s older but for now I’ve accepted the non-aesthetic high chair is the winner.

If cost isn’t an issue, Ioved the Peg Perego Siesta so much we bought another for our second child (great price found used) because our first wasn’t quite out of it yet and we loved it so much. When they’re small, the Siesta fully reclines and has a harness so I would just wheel them around the main floor with me. Kept my hands free to do things like meal prep and babies just want to be with you. It’s also really easy to clean (I’ve found) but no high chair is fool proof. Babies can manage to get food EVERYWHERE.

We got one of these as a hand-me-down and TBH it folds up pretty small for our townhouse. Better than not collapsing at all! And the tray part is aces. The crevices on this seat tho 😫 I’m constantly rolling it out onto our front porch to violently shake it out and wipe it down.

I have a siesta and love it, but not so much for eating/feeding. It really should be marketed as a bassinet on wheels or a safe alternative for those bumbo seats, with a target age range of newborn and up. The best time to have a siesta is in the first year. As a high chair for eating, there are better alternatives.

Same same! We got it before our first was born. Used it a few weeks and then was so unimpressed that we shipped it to the grandparents. We got a Peg Pergola Siesta second hand for less than 100$ that we used until the second was born. Then we got handmade Trip Trap style toddler chairs for both kids that they will use until they are able to use our regular chairs comfortably.
