Ok this may be unpopular, but I hated the Halo swaddles. Cheap, itchy material that was crap. Our favorite swaddles were either the Ollie or the Kyte brand. We tried the love to dream swaddle but he never took to it. After the swaddle stage we went to the woolino sleep sacks and they’re fantastic.

Ollie hands down ETA: we’ve tried the Snoo swaddles, the actual snoo, love to dream, muslin blankets, aden and Anais Velcro swaddles, I can go on. Ollie tops them all. Don’t even start anywhere else.

Thread: "Transitioning out of a swaddle not going well.... Help!"

I was SO scared to transition LO out of the swaddle too. He started rolling so we didn’t have much choice and just had to bite the bullet and do it. It was a couple rough nights but honestly once you rip that bandaid off you’re going to be so happy that it’s behind you! We didn’t do anything groundbreaking but I’ll share what tips we used! We had been using the Ollie and the halo interchangeably. We did one arm out for a few nights (maybe a week?), once he got used to that we tried two arms out for a while, then both arms out with the swaddle still snug around his torso. Finally we transitioned to a sleep sack. We chose the nested bean zen sack because it seemed to offer some of the comforts of a swaddle with the safety of a sleep sack for a rolling baby. This is the tip that was most helpful to me: start at nighttime, not nap time. The drive to sleep is higher at night! Just stay consistent and you’ll cruise through this transition! Good luck ☺️

My thought is definitely use a swaddle. The halo Velcro ones are cotton. A lot of people love the Ollie swaddle (just 1 layer) but they are pricey. I would dress baby in a onesie with no sleeves and no legs if you are worried about them being too warm. I wouldn't sacrifice a swaddle, I'd sacrifice footie pjs. I'm in TN so it gets pretty swampy here too.

We loved the Ollie for that age! Really held his arms in place which I think helped him sleep better. We then went to the magic Merlin and now are in the woolino.

Thread: "love to dream swaddle"

Ours hated it in the beginning (weeks 1-2) because he wanted to run his face with his hands, so we switched to the Ollie swaddle and put hands near face. After a month(ish) we tried the Love to Dream again because the Ollie was such a hassle for MOTN feedings and he actually loved it - we had also introduced the pacifier by then so he was wasn't trying to suck his hands, which could have helped. A month after that, he seemed super frustrated trying to move his legs while sleeping so I tried out the Halo Sleepsack (someone had gifted us one, so I already had it), and he started sleeping soooo good! Basically, I think you just have to try out different swaddles to see what baby likes, and their preferences may change!

I loved the Ollie but it wasn’t a great fit when my daughter was still teeny tiny for same reasons you described, had more success when she was like 2-4months … if it’s not working for you now maybe give it a little break and try it in a couple weeks!

We loved the Ollie too. x3 kids Halo swaddles weren't snug enough for my kids to feel secure. They would wiggle and break their arms out/undo the swaddle in the middle of the night.

I love our Ollie swaddles so much. We also got a few Halo sleep sacks in case baby hated the Ollies, and we've never used the Halo's at all. The Ollies are easy, quick, foolproof and my guy tolerates them without busting out of them most of the time! I highly recommend them. I will say, ours were purchased off of our registry so we didn't have to pay the $99 for them, but if someone didn't buy them for us I'd have bought them anyway and not regretted it.

We loved the Ollie. My oldest broke out of every swaddle we tried so I was willing to spend the money on the Ollie. There's resale value to them too, or at least there was in 2020. My babies rolled at 6 weeks but it still felt worth it because they didn't escape

It’s crazy trying to figure baby gear out. As far as I know they only have arms up ones but the transition ones have zipper arms that you can take off. But that was literally the ONLY swaddle that worked for my girl, she was just over 5 pounds and was a peanut. She swam in everything else and we couldn’t blanket swaddle to save our lives 😂 the Ollie is expensive but is easy to use.

I can't actually speak to the Ollie swaddle, but it seems way overpriced to me. We used swaddleme for our daughter and they worked well, however I'm switching to the Aden and Anais ones because they have a less scratchy Velcro and zippers on the bottom for easier diaper changes. We also really like the Halo swaddle blankets because they are easy to use when you start transitioning them to arms out sleeping. They can still be nice and snug around the middle, and you have the option of one, two, or no arms out! Then with just regular swaddle blankets I was super impressed by the amazing baby brand on Amazon. About half the price of Halo and honestly a little better quality.

I like that it wraps way low on their body. Most of the swaddles have fabric intended to go close to the neck and on top of the shoulder. Safe sleep means making sure you get it really flat and snug directly under their chin so it doesn’t come loose and fall over their mouth. It’s a multi-attempt learning process to get that. Ollie is one and done (at least for getting it out on in a safe way, it still can be too loose to contain the wild newborn arms). But overall, I say no, not worth it. I really like swaddle blankets because you can customize. My husband like the Halo swaddles.

Funny I didn’t think I knew of the Halo people were talking about but I just looked it up and it’s what the hospital gave us when we left. We used it 2 times before we had Ollie....he squirmed right out of it AND we mostly didn’t like it because he overheated in it. Ollie fabric is chefs kiss! Perfect temp straight-jacketed baby🤣🤣🤣😜

We had the Ollie but we’re doing prayer hands in the swaddle. She kept breaking out of it. Eventually at week 7 I did arms out, then after realizing that was kinda pointless we went to sleep sack. It was medium bad for 3-5 days. I had tried transitioning around 6w but got scared. We bought a zippadee zip but I ordered the wrong size. By the time the correct size came we were in it enough that I didn’t care and just returned.

i use the ollie and my baby sleeps amazingly well with it - she’s 10 weeks old now and has been sleeping for 8-10 hours a night with it since she was about 4 weeks old. the only issue is that i’m starting to try to transition her out of it and.. it’s been challenging. luckily i have a little bit of time to transition her since she isn’t rolling yet, but i guess that’s the downside to it working so well.

Am I the only one that follows the creator on Instagram and doesn’t really like her? She seems like a huge pick me and is always talking about taking the guy she’s seeing on these lavish weekend trips and gushing over him, but he won’t let her post anything besides his shoe and is flaky when her “fans” asked about his job. For us, all swaddles were a waste of money. She tolerated the swaddle blanket somewhat while we were in the hospital, but once home, no dice. Any and all blanket or covering on her legs just made her mad. She would keep kicking constantly until it was off, and Velcro swaddles made her mad because she didn’t want them and couldn’t kick them off.
