My MIL wanted us to get a wifi baby monitor. We were very adamant that we did not want a wifi connection for these reasons. We got a Motorola video monitor closed system and I love it. It reaches 1000f so if baby is sleeping I can go outside or even to the neighbours and it reaches. But get this- the reason she wanted us to get a wifi one so badly was so SHE could watch baby 😳 lol we said hell no to that.

So look, we’re pretty up to date with tech. Nest sensors, cameras, thermostat everywhere. Alexa in every room. Phillips hue lighting etc etc. Owl sock on the newborn, mamaroo Bluetooth swing, hatch Bluetooth nightlight and so on. ...and for this: we reverted back to the Motorola analogue video monitor with two controllable cameras. Because if there’s one thing we don’t want beholden to glitchy WiFi, it’s this. To be honest, they’ve been great. Would 100% recommend.

We have the Motorola monitors. They work like this. You can hook multiple cameras up to it and I can walk almost all the way to the mailbox with it (a good couple feet) the camera quality has dropped a little and the sound can be weird but 8/10 recommend. It’s still super reliable

WTF. That is sooo creepy! I'm so glad my mother in law isn't like this. I hear horror stories all the time about MILs. Im going to look into that one. I would love to be able to go outside while my LO naps.

We opted not to get any wifi operated camera. We bought my a Motorola camera baby monitor that does not use Wifi and it has been amazing. It even detects the temp in the room so you know how cold or warm the room is. We read too many horror stories of baby cameras getting hacked through the wifi connection we opted for something that was no wifi dependent.

Motorola has affordable and good non WiFi video monitors. I’d take it wayyy over the owlet I used for a month

I’m kinda paranoid about internet connected monitors… I work in software… so I know not to trust it. We have the Motorola video monitor, which is just radio based... It technically works but the battery lasts all of 30s, so it needs to be plugged in constantly... I recommend not that 😂

We use a Motorola non-wifi monitor, which also has a blue light on it (why?? The baby doesn’t need to see a light to know the monitor is on.) Covering the light with black electrical tape is very effective and doesn’t affect the signal at all.

Yes! I was super happy my son's great grandma got him a no wifi baby moniter. I didn't even ask for one yet.

I love my Nanit, but we have a Motorola one that has batteries as well for easier portability and for if the WiFi or power goes out. I honestly love both for different reasons.

We have a nest cam and really enjoy it. If you don’t want to shell out money for a new one, I bet customer service would send you a replacement for free. Motorola did that for us with our first monitor before we switched to the nest.

We are still pregnant with #2 and just recently bought this baby monitor as our last one crapped out. We had two summer infant ones and our in-laws struggled through two Motorola ones and they were all trash, lasted 6-12 months max. I’m excited to try this one out!

Literally 2 weeks in on my motorola baby cam and the Infrared lights for night vision went out. About to just get a cheap security camera instead

I would steer clear of anything that is connected to your phone. That's unreliable and you'd be surprised how often it will glitch. I have a plain old Motorola video monitor and it's worked like a charm going on 22 months now. As for heart/breathing monitor we used the Snuza that attached to the diaper. Worked great.

I have a Motorola/Hubble that allows you to either switch every 30 seconds with audio and video OR have up to 4 cameras split screen and you can highlight one at a time to toggle the audio.

I use a lollipop on my phone for 2 kids. Really like the P.I.P. while I'm playing Tetris, listening to my baby's white noise and watching my toddler in quiet time.

We've got a Motorola video monitor that has visual indicators for noise (ex there are lights from green to red, showing that a) there's noise and b) how loud it is). I really like having a video monitor so we can see what the kidlet is up to.
