Thread: "OWLET CAMERA ACCOUNT HACKED!!"

We use the eufy baby monitor. I like this one because it does both. It has a closed circuit monitor that use primarily. I leave for work before my daughter wakes up, but I like to see her when my wife is getting her up in the morning. The camera has a physical WiFi switch, so my wife can turn it on so I can see those morning smiles. Then it can go back off and no more WiFi.

My husband owns an IT & Cybersecurity company and has been hacking things since the early 90’s. We also have a Eufy and highly recommend it!

Thread: "My baby monitor got a call?"

I had an owlet camera when I had my first in 2021. When he was a couple months old I saw a video about these getting hacked into and I switched to a non-WiFi monitor. I have no idea about the connectivity though, unless it got connected by accident or automatically. I would honestly just switch, because that scares me. There are so many really good monitors out there that don’t require WiFi. The eufy spaceview was my favorite until my toddler ripped the antenna off. I have cheap hello baby one I use for travel. I also have a better quality hello baby I purchased when my eufy broke.

We did research into this one and it seemed that the general consensus was that the Eufy SpaceView was the best non-wifi monitor on the market in terms of overall build and image quality. A lot of the other ones you see on Best Buy and Amazon are absolute garbage.

Omg so sorry to hear Anyone looking for a baby monitor I def can recommend eufy. I heard about this as a possibility and got the eufy with its own RF totally separate from wifi. It’s also nice when you take baby with you for a night away from home you just plug it in and it works, no setup or asking for wifi. I got it bc it was #1 on witecutter. Looks like a new version is out but basically this one https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-baby-monitor/

Eufy. It doesn’t use wifi (this was important to us for security reasons, but also if the internet is down, your camera still works).

Thread: "WiFi baby monitor hacking"

FWIW, I thought it was fear-mongering as well and thought it would never ever happen to us. However, after using our WiFi camera for a few months, we received several notifications that someone from Russia was attempting to login. They were ultimately unsuccessful (I think and hope!) but I felt so violated each time I looked at the camera that we purchased a non-WiFi camera (eufy spacevue) and have been very happy.

We got a eufy one too that has a WiFi option in case we are traveling and need it for some reason. I keep the wifi switch turned off but it’s nice to have the option. It’s not a perfect monitor but it’s not bad!

We have an Eufy non-wifi monitor. Not dealing with it being connected to the internet was big for us. Only issue is that the construction is fairly cheap: USB port on the camera came lose after a drop and the screen did not survive being put in a toddler's mouth.

Vtech audio only monitors are great for what you're looking for. We used these when we're traveling and they typically have better range than more video monitors For video options, we like the Eufy Security Spaceview Baby Monitor. It's not wifi, and there's no phone integration, so you have the camera and the handheld. We've been using this one for our first for 5 years with no issue.

I’d just go with a good monitor that you can see if your baby is breathing or not (I use Eufy Spaceview), but the biggest thing is just learning to trust that your baby is okay!

Eufy Spaceview, hands down. It works so well in every place I’ve used it (including our old house with super thick walls and in my SILs gigantic McMansion) and it can be expanded with multiple cameras for more than one kid. I bought an extra camera for taking with us when traveling and it’s super easy to set up. If you aren’t in a huge rush, keep an eye on it on Amazon - they go on sale pretty frequently.

Having a non wifi monitor was non negotiable for us. We have the Eufy one (I can’t remember the exact model) and I love it, I’ve just heard too many horror stories that have put me off having a regular one! We have home cameras as well (we have dogs and are sometimes not at home so like to check on them) that I would probably use in the future if we leave our son with my mum or sister and I’d just let them know.

I have the Eufy baby monitor and am happy with it. Non WiFi- closed circuit. Great range, good picture. Eufy makes a bunch of different devices- we have a robo vac from them too. I think it’s actually the same org as Anker… and I’m a fan of their products also. Good design, fair pricing, slick packaging, good support.

Thread: "Baby monitors seem like a scam with how atrociously poor quality they are"

I’m gonna add one pain point I have with out Eufy… the alert system doesn’t work if you use white noise. Our alerts started going off constantly even when baby is silent. Turns out it was reacting to a steady white noise machine also in the room. Their customer service team just told me there is nothing else they can do to resolve it for me. We still use the monitor but I keep it by my pillow at night with the sound on. So her white noise is now my white noise too.

Thread: "Which Baby Monitor??!!"

I have the owlet duo (video monitor and a sock that monitors babies vitals, I was super paranoid being a first time mom and was so scared to sleep) and then we eventually got the eufy space view. The owlet is terrible. It was expensive and a total waste of money. I really wanted to love it. I liked that it had an app you can pull up on your phone so I didn’t need to carry around the parent monitor but I have to say it totally sucked. The video quality isn’t that great, some monitors you can actually see baby breathing but no shot with this one. Also it’s constantly going offline which means you can’t see the video. And for some reason it occasionally reverts setting so it will stop playing the sound on my phone in the background and I can’t hear the baby until I open the app back up. The sock is great and if you’re paranoid like me I found that helpful but I would just get that and not the duo with the video camera. We got the eufy for going to places without wifi and I love it. It’s become our main monitor now. The video is great quality. You can move the camera remotely so if baby has wiggled in her crib I can still see all of her. Not needing internet means even with the internet out I have a working monitor. We can take it anywhere. I don’t always love having to bring the parent monitor but the quality is so much better than the owlet that I deal with it.

I have been happy with our Eufy Spaceview. It's a video monitor with a sizeable screen and the night vision is very clear. I prefer having a separate monitor rather than using a wifi one on my phone.

Not the guy you responded to but we also had privacy concerns. We have a Eufy Spaceview. Image quality is good, screen is big. Battery time is good in my opinion. Range is good, our girls room is on one corner of the house and my office is on the other end. No issues there. Surprisingly good microphone. Plastic on the actual monitor feels a bit cheap. But buttons arent mushy or anything.

We have the eufy. The range is great. I can be in our detached garage 100ft away from the house and still watch the monitor. You can also attach multiple cameras. We just had a second daughter and got a new camera and everything hooked up well. We are more then happy with it and it's available on Amazon.

Thread: "Baby monitor recommendation (wifi & non-wifi all-in-one) [on]"

We got the Eufy E21 (4k) and love it. The monitor it comes with can connect to the camera in local only mode if you want, and then you can still access the camera from your phone. You can also buy add on cameras that can connect to the same monitor, which we did so that we could have a camera by his pack and play and a camera upstairs in his bedroom without having to constantly move it. I'm also a big fan of the Eufy customer service. I was having issues with the WiFi connections after connecting the second camera and their support team is fantastic. They literally never took more than 30 minutes to respond to email, even when I messaged them at 2am one time. Just FTM things lol. You can buy stands on Amazon that will make the Eufy work the same as the Nanit, but for a fraction of the price. The E21 also frequently goes on sale for about $100 off so just keep an eye out on the prices there.

We have a eufy. Our house has multiple stories and I need to be able to let the dogs outside etc. Its also nice that it's not wifi because we can take it when we go away and it just plugs in. Its very helpful because out kiddo does make noise in his sleep and it not awake.

We have the euphy non wifi one, and it still works 5 years later (we only use it when kiddo is sick, but super handy to have for then). We just purchased another for our second. We didn’t want wifi due to all the issues they’ve had. We are in a 1800 sqft townhouse, tall and skinny with 3 floors and we have no issue with signal anywhere in the house, and can actually go outside/in the garage with it with no issues as well.
