  • Long-lasting battery life
  • No WiFi means reduced hacking risks

Cons (−)

  • Night vision performance can be lacking

  • Limited advanced features compared to premium models

Why parents like it

Common complaints

Some parents mention that the night vision could be improved, as it doesn't always perform well in low light. A few users have also experienced issues with the stand breaking after a few months of use.

I had an owlet camera when I had my first in 2021. When he was a couple months old I saw a video about these getting hacked into and I switched to a non-WiFi monitor. I have no idea about the connectivity though, unless it got connected by accident or automatically. I would honestly just switch, because that scares me. There are so many really good monitors out there that don’t require WiFi. The eufy spaceview was my favorite until my toddler ripped the antenna off. I have cheap hello baby one I use for travel. I also have a better quality hello baby I purchased when my eufy broke.

We did research into this one and it seemed that the general consensus was that the Eufy SpaceView was the best non-wifi monitor on the market in terms of overall build and image quality. A lot of the other ones you see on Best Buy and Amazon are absolute garbage.

Same. We picked Eufy specifically because it doesn't have the same hacking vulnerabilities that others have.

Omg so sorry to hear Anyone looking for a baby monitor I def can recommend eufy. I heard about this as a possibility and got the eufy with its own RF totally separate from wifi. It’s also nice when you take baby with you for a night away from home you just plug it in and it works, no setup or asking for wifi. I got it bc it was #1 on witecutter. Looks like a new version is out but basically this one https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-baby-monitor/

FWIW, I thought it was fear-mongering as well and thought it would never ever happen to us. However, after using our WiFi camera for a few months, we received several notifications that someone from Russia was attempting to login. They were ultimately unsuccessful (I think and hope!) but I felt so violated each time I looked at the camera that we purchased a non-WiFi camera (eufy spacevue) and have been very happy.

Vtech audio only monitors are great for what you're looking for. We used these when we're traveling and they typically have better range than more video monitors For video options, we like the Eufy Security Spaceview Baby Monitor. It's not wifi, and there's no phone integration, so you have the camera and the handheld. We've been using this one for our first for 5 years with no issue.

Having a non wifi monitor was non negotiable for us. We have the Eufy one (I can’t remember the exact model) and I love it, I’ve just heard too many horror stories that have put me off having a regular one! We have home cameras as well (we have dogs and are sometimes not at home so like to check on them) that I would probably use in the future if we leave our son with my mum or sister and I’d just let them know.

I’m gonna add one pain point I have with out Eufy… the alert system doesn’t work if you use white noise. Our alerts started going off constantly even when baby is silent. Turns out it was reacting to a steady white noise machine also in the room. Their customer service team just told me there is nothing else they can do to resolve it for me. We still use the monitor but I keep it by my pillow at night with the sound on. So her white noise is now my white noise too.

Thread: "Which Baby Monitor??!!"

I have the owlet duo (video monitor and a sock that monitors babies vitals, I was super paranoid being a first time mom and was so scared to sleep) and then we eventually got the eufy space view. The owlet is terrible. It was expensive and a total waste of money. I really wanted to love it. I liked that it had an app you can pull up on your phone so I didn’t need to carry around the parent monitor but I have to say it totally sucked. The video quality isn’t that great, some monitors you can actually see baby breathing but no shot with this one. Also it’s constantly going offline which means you can’t see the video. And for some reason it occasionally reverts setting so it will stop playing the sound on my phone in the background and I can’t hear the baby until I open the app back up. The sock is great and if you’re paranoid like me I found that helpful but I would just get that and not the duo with the video camera. We got the eufy for going to places without wifi and I love it. It’s become our main monitor now. The video is great quality. You can move the camera remotely so if baby has wiggled in her crib I can still see all of her. Not needing internet means even with the internet out I have a working monitor. We can take it anywhere. I don’t always love having to bring the parent monitor but the quality is so much better than the owlet that I deal with it.

We got the Eufy E21 (4k) and love it. The monitor it comes with can connect to the camera in local only mode if you want, and then you can still access the camera from your phone. You can also buy add on cameras that can connect to the same monitor, which we did so that we could have a camera by his pack and play and a camera upstairs in his bedroom without having to constantly move it. I'm also a big fan of the Eufy customer service. I was having issues with the WiFi connections after connecting the second camera and their support team is fantastic. They literally never took more than 30 minutes to respond to email, even when I messaged them at 2am one time. Just FTM things lol. You can buy stands on Amazon that will make the Eufy work the same as the Nanit, but for a fraction of the price. The E21 also frequently goes on sale for about $100 off so just keep an eye out on the prices there.

We have the euphy non wifi one, and it still works 5 years later (we only use it when kiddo is sick, but super handy to have for then). We just purchased another for our second. We didn’t want wifi due to all the issues they’ve had. We are in a 1800 sqft townhouse, tall and skinny with 3 floors and we have no issue with signal anywhere in the house, and can actually go outside/in the garage with it with no issues as well.

The idea of that much data monitoring on my baby freaked us out. We went with the Eufy Spacecam monitor that doesn't have an app, so it was more secure. Our baby was healthy and full term, and also had one of us in the room with her until about 4 months. I don't wish we had more function, and we didn't even use the monitor for a few months since she wasn't alone.

Sure, RF can be picked up on but all that they are accessing is the monitor itself since it’s a closed system, not your entire home network… IMO that’s the biggest risk, not someone just looking at/listening your baby sleeping or whatever. We live in a big city in an apartment building so not exactly a secret that we’ve got a baby here. Can see it feeling a bit more exposing if you live in a house somewhere more remote though! I think at the end of the day it makes sense to just get the monitor that works best for you, not necessary to be very afraid of the “what ifs”. Edit: we have the Eufy baby monitor, and it was most definitely not cheap!

I’ve used 2. The first one is a secondhand eufy spaceview. The battery life sucks but it does provide clear sound and pic feed. Sadly our LO knocked it off accidentally after 3 months of use. Then we got a momcozy one and love it. The functions are similar as the eufy spaceview but come with a better battery. Used it for about 8 months now and no complaints.

Just gonna put in a vote for the Eufy Spaceview. No wifi, FHSS secure signal, decent range, 360 view w/ 110 degree vertical, decent zoom and nightvision, thermometer, ability to turn screen on/off while audio stays on, motion/audio sensing mode w/ alerts, 2 way audio… this thing is great.

I have the infant optics monitor and the Eufy monitor. The picture on the Eufy is clearer although I never really use it when it’s not in night vision mode and the difference is less stark. The alarm mode is especially useful with my toddler. She wakes up and plays by herself, often pretty quietly, and the alarm mode lets me get some extra sleep. I turn the volume down pretty low and set a threshold for the alarm. The battery lasts longer on the Eufy too but it’s also newer than my infant optics so it’s hard to say if it’s not going to deteriorate also. The picture and battery are nice but the alarm mode is a game changer.

We use (and used for the past 3+ years) eufy space view. It's not wifi connected. We don't use any wifi connected smart devices in our homes (besides phones and computers), as a security precaution (husband is in the cybersec industry and knows too much about what can go wrong). We also use snuza hero for extra peace of mind while baby is sleeping. And I like how it's not connected to anything and so we can use it in the car when I cannot see their faces. Positional asphyxiation in the car seat really freaks me out!

Yes! The eufy is good. But I need to add a warning to never ever ever drop the handset portion, as it will stop working entirely with the slightest of impact. This happened to me, and apparently a ton of other people based on reviews. Their customer service is helpful in replacing the parts for free, but you still will find yourself without your monitor for several weeks while the replacement is being processed. Otherwise, great monitor 😅
