Thread: "Prop65 warning on Mika Micky bassinet?"
Prop 65 is a California law with an absurdly wide definition of carcinogen, to the point where it’s basically useless. It’s frankly rare to find a household or baby product that doesn’t have the warning on it. I lived in California for a few years, and as another commenter said, every single *coffee shop* has the warning on the wall by law. I wouldn’t be concerned.

Unfortunately because so many companies slap this on everything to avoid lawsuits, it’s become much less helpful imo. I don’t use it to determine whether I’m comfortable with a product at this point.

So Prop 65 come ups on this sub every once in a while. I work in California for a manufacturing facility and I've had to read the guidelines to determine if it's needed for our products. We are required to label a product if it contains any of the listed chemicals whether or not the normal use of the product would actually induce any risk. For example I make parts that go into a computer that sometimes have cadmium coatings. This would only be hazardous if there is additional modification to our parts or if someone is licking them neither of which is the intended use. But because they have cadmium I have to label them. Our building has the label because inside our building we use paint and a lot of paints fall under the prop 65 requirements. If you want to err on the side of caution because you are exposing a child to it and they may put it in their mouth you could throw it away. More likely than not somewhere in that product is a hazardous chemical but it's not very likely in a location where your child could be exposed to it. Prop 65 is supposed to account for low levels of things as well IE if you only have a very very small amount of nickel in your product it should be fine but most people will label it regardless of the level just for safety sake. The only time I paid attention to it is when I saw it on a rubber ball that I knew my toddler was going to stick in his mouth and it told me that the paint used is probably not appropriate for eating.

I tried to find this bassinet for sale online to look at the Prop65 warning because they usually will give information about what chemicals are in the product that require the warning, and I was only able to find it for sale used or at WalMart. The Mika Micky website doesn’t even have it available and the links to their social media lead to inactive pages that link back to a non existent website. I think this is just as concerning as the prop65 warning. Has the bassinet been recalled? Why are retailers no longer selling it?
Thread: "Mika Mickey Bassinet- “never leave child unattended in bassinet.” Huh?"
called the customer service line. They said all of their products are out of stock and the do not have a return date, though they feel it may be a month. I asked for guidance on the disclaimer of “do not leave baby unattended in bassinet.” The customer service rep said that you shouldn’t leave baby unattended because they can pull themselves up and fall out. Or if they are over the weight limit. The disclaimer does not say that though. Just the general rule of do not leave unattended. I said, well of course you don’t use it past the guided weight limit and baby movement, but I shouldn’t leave my swaddled infant in the bassinet to go do dishes? Or should I not sleep while she’s sleeping in it because she’s basically unattended then as well? The rep indicated I could take my baby with me to do dishes lol. Then said I could leave baby in it so long as baby is not rolling, pulling themselves up, or over the weight limit. Between them pulling all products from Amazon and their site, their social medias no longer having any posts, and the disclaimer, I think I will be finding a new bassinet and if they do come back in stock in a month, maybe I’ll make the change then.

Ugh I just found this thread after not finding the bassinet sold anywhere online. We used it with my first and we’re planning on using it with our second come March, but this thread has made me so nervous.

I have one of these and am expecting in a week! What do you mean that it is not safe to be used as a bedside bassinet with one side down? I thought this was the main appeal.

I just got mine in July and am very happy with it over all and my baby wouldn’t be able to roll over into my bed and wouldn’t be until far to big for a bassinet. It is registered but I haven’t gotten any information about a safety recall. Do your research and comb the blogs and educate yourself on safe sleep including the 7 safe. And weigh the risk to benefit specific to your family and your comfort level.

Thank you OP! Not gonna lie...I'm like 99.9% sure I'll be out tonight buying a new one. I'm going to post a new thread and see if anyone else knows anything too on top of that....I want to make sure that we have safe sleep for all our babies!

This is so funny because I had registered for a Mika Mikey on Amazon and a few weeks ago I noticed it disappeared from my registry with no warning. I couldn’t even find a listing on Amazon. Even their direct website had their bassinet options taken off the site. I wonder if they were being recalled for some reason?

Also suspicious that there are no newer TikTok’s or YouTube videos featuring/reviewing the Mika Micky…freaking out that they are keeping quiet even though it is known to be unsafe. Hope I’m wrong! I just looked and there is nothing newer than 4 months! 😬
Thread: "Mika Mickey Bassinet- “never leave child unattended in bassinet.” Huh?"
Yep. My friend used the Mika Mickey and loved it, so I’m sure it’s ok but now I can’t get the anxiety out. 🙃 it’s just not going to work.
Thread: "Mika Micky Bassinet - Has it been recalled??"
So I have Mika micky bassinet and have been using it and now since my baby was born in November. It looks like they are still out of their products so I call bullshit on the restock. I’m going to call them or write to them or Amazon or something. Let me know what you ended up doing if you don’t mind!

I have one I got with my first baby in 2020 and still plan to use it for my next one (I’m 22 weeks). It’s been great and I have not had any issues. I would try it out first. You can always get a different one if you don’t like it.

LOVE the Mika Mickey. We use it daily to this day all over the house. It has wheels!

Just here wondering the same thing 🤪 ugh!
Thread: "Mika Micky Bassinet - Has it been recalled??"
We used this bassinet with our son from January 2023-August 2023 and am currently due with our second in July 2024 and trying to figure out if we can safely reuse the Mika Micky or if we need to purchase a new bassinet! Any update?
Thread: "Baby constantly rolling over in sleep"

Thread: "Mika Mickey Bassinet- “never leave child unattended in bassinet.” Huh?"
Just wanted to touch base on this… we had a massive fiberglass exposure happen in our bedroom late one night. (DO NOT TAKE THE COVER OFF YOUR MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS EVEN IF THERES A ZIPPER 😅) and our halo bassinet was in the room and covered. I had to choose between cosleeping or the Mika for one night. I chose the Mika. Within an hour or so my non rolling newborn was rolled into the side and face against the non mesh part. Luckily, I read your comment before hand so I didn’t even sleep that night. Just stayed up watching her. So thank you for posting.

I’m in the same boat here. A friend gifted us the one she’d used and I was so thankful to have it but now worried and thinking maybe better to buy one that’s still for sale, gah!

Glad you found it before you opened it!! It’s crazy they haven’t released any info/recalls. They just vanished into thin air
