SNOO SNOO Smart Sleeper

🏆 Best Overall

The SNOO Smart Sleeper is a smart bassinet designed to soothe babies to sleep with gentle rocking and white noise. It features a unique swaddle system that keeps babies safely strapped in while they sleep.

Pros (+)

  • Helps many babies learn to self-soothe and sleep longer
  • Safety features provide peace of mind for parents
  • High resale value makes it easier to recoup costs

Cons (−)

  • Can be noisy, potentially disrupting sleep
  • High price point may not justify the benefits for all
  • Some babies may not respond well to the SNOO

Why parents like it

Many parents appreciate the SNOO for its soothing features that help babies learn to fall asleep independently. The safety of the swaddle system is also frequently highlighted as a major benefit.

Common complaints

Several parents mention that the SNOO can be quite noisy, which may disrupt sleep. Additionally, some feel that the high price does not guarantee better sleep for every baby.

Best for

Parents looking for a high-tech solution to help their baby sleep better. However, be prepared for the possibility that it may not work for every child.

Bottom line

The SNOO can be a lifesaver for sleep-deprived parents, but its effectiveness varies by baby and the price is a significant consideration.

Some babies, it's a miracle. Others hate it... You can also look into renting it instead and buy later or only rent until baby outgrows. I'm not sure if the resale is good on them but maybe check Facebook market place?

I’ll give you my story. We got a Snoo. I grabbed one on sale and it was like $850. Can’t get one that cheap now new. We had a fantastic sleeper, but he started in the Snoo, so we never knew how it played into his sleep quality. But a fantastic sleeper either way. Sleeping through the night basically as early as is possible (he was formula fed). Then, hurricane Zeta went over our house and we lost power. He woke up four times that night, lol. Power back on, Snoo back on, sleep restored. And then when we were done, I sold the Snoo for $800. So my net cost was trivial. A friend of my wife’s had a terrible sleeper and held off on buying a Snoo to try to help. Kid slept better night one in the Snoo that he ever had before. These are just my anecdotal experiences, and I’m sure for some kids they are counterproductive or just don’t work well or don’t justify their cost. But we had one and if it helped at all, it was worth every penny of the…literally just $50 it cost me anyway

I have 2 Snoo baby graduates, who are 4 and 2 now, and they are wonderful sleepers. They did very well transitioning out of the snoo at 6 months old too and slept through the night. One thing I think helps though is that I still use white noise for them both. To be honest though, I think the quality of a babies sleep is a lot more complicated than just being attributed to the use of the Snoo or other gadgets.

You don’t know how you’re baby will be until they’re born. TW: “easy babies” Both of my babies slept through the night by 10-12 weeks. Like 12 hours at a time. By 5-6 weeks they were only getting up once to feed. No, this isn’t normal. No, I don’t know how to replicate it (yet somehow I did?) but I could make a fuck ton of money if I did! Yes, I did breastfeed exclusively. The snoo would have been a HUGE waste of money for us. So my suggestion is wait until baby is 3-4 weeks old and then decide if you think it’s something you need.

We bought one for our first after a few weeks where he would not sleep in the normal bassinet we had. We got ours at full price, then 3 days later they went 40% off. We called and asked for the discount, I got a notification from my bank of the credit while we were still on the phone. Anyway the snoo probably got us each several more hours of sleep per night. And now we’re using it again for our second, same thing. We loaned it out to friends in between our kids and they said the same thing. Can’t recommend it enough! I’ve seen them on FB marketplace for around $500, which is a lot less than the renting option from the company when we had our first in 2022.

I thought it was unnecessary but my partner really wanted to get one. Turns out they have a rental program as well so I figured we’d give it a go for a month and could end the rental if we didn’t like it. It worked great for us and gave all 3 of us better sleep. We used it until she was 6 months and transitioned to the crib. YMMV, but don’t feel like you have to commit to buying! It was $159/mo to rent

It is expensive for a bassinet, but you’re not buying a bassinet. You are buying sleep. You are paying to be less sleep deprived and more human. Also, not sure if it was the Snoo magic or not but my kiddos are now toddlers and still excellent sleepers. You can rent, but the fees on top of the monthly rentals still add up to quite a bit. Check out Facebook marketplace. Even if you would rather buy new, if there is a market for it in your area it may but worth it to buy and then resell when you are done with it.

We got a snoo for our first baby at like 5 weeks in a fit of 2am sleep deprived desperation. Before the snoo she constantly screamed and never slept more than 45 min. The snoo just seemed to piss her off more. We kept it for any future babies. Our second baby LOVES the snoo. He sleeps so well in it and it helps to keep him asleep for longer stretches. So I think that it’s really baby dependent. But it has great resell value. Once our son is done with it we’re just going to sell it since we’re done having babies. Eta: I did still really like it for our first baby purely for the peace of mind that I knew that she couldn’t roll over and smother herself.

You’re going to hear the whole gamut of responses here, and the reality is it’s 90% dictated by your baby’s temperament 🥲 We had a free 6 month snoo rental covered by my workplace. Our girl was a dream sleeper, giving 4-5 hour stretches at just a couple months old. By 3 or 4 months she was regularly sleeping through the night. We transitioned her from the snoo to a pack and play in our room and she did just as well, continued to sleep through the night. It wasn’t until a regression around 8 months old that we transitioned her to her crib in her own room and sleep trained to get her to fall asleep independently.

I don’t know that it helped my baby sleep longer or quicker, but the peace of mind of him being strapped in was the most important thing to me. Bonus was transitioning to the crib was ridiculously easy for us and he’s been pretty good at putting himself to sleep and getting back to sleep ever since (2.5 now). We’ll use it again for our second.

For my first child I used the Snoo, for my second I went with the Cradlewise. The Cradlewise, although spendy, is really really great if you can afford it. The Snoo was okay, but it was really noisy, stopped working a lot, and my son grew out of it after three months. The Cradlewise is super quiet, moves more naturally (up and down instead of side to side - with the snoo you have to use their clip in swaddles or the baby will roll around lol), has a built in camera, and since it’s a mini crib we can use it until the baby is about two. When my baby stirs in the middle of the night it definitely settles her and saves me from getting up often. All that to say no one really “needs” a high end smart crib, but it’s a super nice to have. Here if you have any questions about either product. Obligatory $100 off referral code IZPY2OWFEI.

We have it. During the newborn phase, she was wailing when we put her in the Snoo and it rocked her to sleep in 90 seconds. She started doing 4 hr stretches at 3 weeks, 6 hr stretches at 6 weeks, and 8 hr stretches at 8 weeks. We are 4 months in now and she has never woken up in the middle of the night. She also takes 1-3 hr naps in the morning in it. I recommended it to a friend whose baby would not sleep more than 2 hrs at 11 weeks old. Four days in, a four hour stretch. Two weeks later, six hour stretches. She puts him to bed at 7, feeds a bottle at midnight, he sleeps till 6am. Haven’t transitioned her out yet but am confident in the Snoo to get us through the 4 month regression and move to crib. This device is what allows me to function like a normal person, I get 8-9 hrs of sleep at night and then 2-3 hrs in the morning to workout, prep dinner, etc.

We are 1st time parents and the amount of freaking out we did the 2 weeks before we got the snoo was insane. our LO was a side sleeper no matter what swaddle or how tight we got him. Snoo fixed that issue and we sleep great, so does he. Price wise was not thrilled about dropping that much, but we plan to have more than one so it should balance out vs renting. We have a friend that rented and said it was simple and easy fwiw. YMMV

I have an 8 day old- and we LOVE the Snoo. It isn’t even about the soothing features, which definitely help and are great, it’s the safety/relief that comes with strapping her in with their sleep sacks. Even if I don’t turn on the motion/sound, I know she’s set for the few hours she is in it and it’s FDA approved to help prevent SIDS. I developed major anxiety after she arrived- I think if she were in a Halo or any other bassinet (which we also have but will not be using bc the Snoo is working so well for us), I’d be checking on her even more at night. I’d always be wondering if she somehow got herself into a weird position or against the side where she can’t breath or something my imagination creates just to ruin my sanity. The Snoo eliminates that question, which gives me extra peace of mind.

My bay decided he just didn’t want to sleep at 4 weeks 🤪 so I panic-bought a snoo on FB marketplace. It was in excellent condition, had only been used once for a couple months, and came with a bunch of accessories. That thing was a godsend. We kept it motion-limited the whole time we used it so there was less of a cliff to wean off of. We were able to use it for a scant 10 weeks before baby started rolling/pushing up. Sold it for the same price I bought it for, so I was only out like $200 total for 2 months of app subscription, one 3-pack of snoo suits (spoiler alert- you prob won’t need large suits if you have an average or small sized baby, save your $ there!), and short legs so it would be better next to our platform bed. Would I pay 2k for it? Absolutely tf not. Was my $200 net investment worth every single penny? Hell yeah!

Recently purchased snoo and selected delivery date to be first week in December right before baby is here as you get a 30 day trial and free subscription period from date delivered and they shipped it out earlier this week with no notice over 5 weeks earlier than scheduled delivery date. Customer service is terrible and to return or cancel has huge fees, I wish I hadn’t ordered it now.

Thread: "SNOO Bassinet - Worth it?"

My husband wanted one, said all his friends had them and they saved their sleep. I was highly skeptical but he did his research online and talked to his friends and I wanted to support his parenting choices the same way he supported mine, so we got a snoo. Baby hated it for the first two night and I thought well there’s a huge waste of money. Then it just clicked for him. He slept full nights with me waking him to feed for THREE MONTHS. The amazing sleep aside, the app tracking his sleep was a godsend. I’ve been putting him to bed fully awake from the get-go and the snoo motion and white noises soothed him to sleep. I also had pretty bad PPA and knowing he was absolutely safe on his back made a big difference to me. The swaddle was super easy to use and I liked that it transitioned seamlessly from arms in to arms out when he was ready. I was very worried about the transition to crib at 6 months. He had the 4 month sleep regression and was waking up once a night to nurse. He’s 7 months now and sleeping through the night again. I really feel his good sleep habits in the snoo carried over. I put him in bed with white noise after stories and he falls asleep on his own because it’s what he’s used to, especially after using the weaning mode on the snoo for a month. This was a decision where my husband was absolutely correct. I know all babies are different but for me and for a lot of his friends, it worked like a charm! We’re saving ours for the next two babies so considering it’s going to do three kids it isn’t too bad an investment!

I think lots of people say it worked like magic, but my baby is fine with sleeping in a normal crib, I have the next2me. Lots of babies are terrible sleepers, but some are fine, people just tend not to shout about the decent sleepers. Mine still wakes up but that is what newborns are meant to do, but she goes down and stays asleep fine (shes 7 weeks). If I had bought a snoo I might say it worked, but it can also be that baby is just an ok sleeper. So, personally, I would just get a regular bed and then maybe invest in it if I got a baby that never slept, but its all personal preference.

I would try the Snoo if you have access to one, even if hers didn’t love it. Sooo many babies do love it and do really well in it. It has saved us for our second baby. He might just be a good sleeper by nature, but I can absolutely see the benefit of the bed. Obviously it’s pricey if you can’t borrow one, but you can also rent! So if it doesn’t work out, you just return it and try something else. Edit: also would recommend the mini crib that transitions into a full size crib. It’s small enough to fit close to your bed and then you can move it to their room when you go to the crib. We used the Nestig for our first. I definitely think you want the baby close by for the first couple of months at least with how often they can wake up.

The thing is huge so even with the return policy it's quite an investment just to try. I'd say don't get it if it's money you need elsewhere. We treated it as a luxury used our discretionary budget for a few months to get it. Keep in mind the cost of accessories as well. Baby is gonna poop in the sack so you will want more than one along with extra sheets

No. Just no. I spent the money on it and it didn’t make any drastic changes in my sons sleep. The weaning process was god awful and I would never do it again. I wish we had a regular bassinet to begin with. I also think it messed with his ability to roll. He didn’t roll consistently both ways, especially in his sleep until closer to 10 months. It straps the baby down which gave me peace of mind when I was so scared of him rolling over in his sleep as a newborn but now that I’ve been through it, it wouldn’t be such a concern for me.

My friend has it and used it for her 2 kids and said she loved it because it gave her back time to sleep. However I recently read that some features will soon be gated behind a subscription model after the first year to basically stop the secondhand market. Meaning if you buy one and then plan to use it for a 2nd kid, then you will have to pay more... Personally that seems like a huge rip off to me considering it's already so expensive to begin with.

We got a snoo in week 4 after it was clear our baby wanted to be rocked all the time. Their marketing says it will get you 1-2 hours of extra sleep per day and I think that’s about right. Which in those early days was worth every penny. Our daughter started sleeping through the night at around 2 months and didn’t have any significant regressions from that point on. I also liked that we got to keep her swaddled for longer because there was no concern that she would roll over. Overall, I would have paid 10x the money. We rented ours but we will probably buy a used one if we have another baby so we can re sell and make most of the money back.
