Thread: "Stokke tripp trapp - worthy?"
I got the Kmart version when my first was about 18 months. I wish I had just used it from the beginning to be honest. I'm now planning on getting two more for when my twins start solids in a few months. The thing to think about is that it's firstly a great high chair but then the conversion to a toddler chair is amazing. Because suddenly at some point (12 months? 18 months? 2 years??) your kid will hate the restriction of the high chair but won't be able to sit in a adult chair. You have to have a solution for that at some point. Some people buy other toddler chairs or boosters. My very independent 2.5 year old loves that she can climb up and down it and I'm not as worried she's going to fall off it as I was with an adult chair. Think about it like this for the newborn set: Bouncer + highchair + toddler chair / booster = $$ Tripp Trapp = $$ If it's replacing all these other things (and it's a great product and will last) then totally worth it. I know a friend who is still using the Tripp Trapp for her 7 year old! They last really well and are just well made.

This (though I bought the Kmart version) with a nibble & rest footrest. Easy to clean. Throw it in the dishwasher or hose it off!

For another option… we bought the Kmart highchair which our LO used from 6months, and at almost 2 years now we have bought a second hand Tripp trapp from Marketplace for about $200. Positive is that we didn’t need to buy any of the chair accessories that make it much more expensive. And we’ll be able to resell for pretty much the same eventually. I think the Tripp Trapp is a good investment since it will get used 3x a day, but if you are looking to save money, go the IKEA highchair with an add on footrest from Nibble and Rest (or other equivalent) and save the money for the TT later down the track.

As others have said, Kmart all the way (or IKEA/Target). It’s cheap and easy to clean. Highly recommend the padded insert and footrest to make it more comfortable. But our girl is almost 2 and kept standing in her highchair, so we’ve just swapped it for a secondhand Stokke Tripp Trapp from FB Marketplace. She now eats and behaves so much better at meal times and can sit at the big table with us. Her cousin is 6 and still uses his so I like how it will grow with her.

Agree - I had the Kmart high chair and had all the accessories. Had it up for 2 weeks and my husband tripped SO. MANY. TIMES that we knew we couldn’t safely keep it, so we swapped to a Tripp Trapp.
