Joolz Aer2
The Joolz Aer2 is a lightweight travel stroller designed for easy folding and portability, featuring a full recline for newborns and a compact design suitable for city living. It weighs just 13.4 pounds and is compatible with a carrycot for infants.
Pros (+)
- Incredibly lightweight and easy to carry
- Folds easily with one hand
- Full recline option for newborns
Cons (−)
- Limited basket size for storage
- Some versions lack full recline feature
- Not suitable for rough terrain
Why parents like it
The Joolz Aer2 is often praised for its incredibly easy fold and lightweight build, making it a breeze to transport. Parents appreciate the full recline feature, which allows for comfortable use from newborn stages.
Common complaints
Some parents regret the limited basket size, wishing it offered more storage for essentials. A few also mention that the Australian version lacks the full recline feature found in other markets.
Parents who prioritize a lightweight and compact stroller for city travel. The tradeoff is a smaller storage basket that may not meet all needs.
The Joolz Aer2 is a solid choice for parents seeking a lightweight travel stroller, but be aware of its limited storage and regional feature differences.

Unfortunately this isn’t a United issue but an all airlines issue. I second the recommendations above…cheap stroller for travel and keep the expensive ones at home.
Thread: "Best compact travel stroller for flights"
Butterfly 2 is most upright, best push, priciest stroller and accessories, faux-leather handle, fold is polarizing, canopy sticks out when folded. Fits tallest kids, has leg stirrup bar, stands on its own. Compact but not the smallest fold. 16 lb weight. ~15 lb basket capacity. 2 year warranty, 4 if you register it on their website. Minu V3 has full-grain leather, best materials per dollar, most premium feel, folds bigger than Butterfly, shorter leg room, no rear storage pocket. Least upright when upright, deeper recline than Butterfly, firmer suspension. May not fit overhead consistently. 16.7 lb weight. 20 lb basket capacity. 3 year warranty, 4 if you buy their travel bag. Joolz Aer2 has the best and easiest fold, lightest weight, most travel-friendly, smooth suspension for its size. Good upright seating, full lay down recline, shortest leg dimension of all, smaller basket, some complaints about the zipper for the recline. ~14 lb weight. ~17 lb basket capacity. 10 yr warranty. None is perfect. All are good with their cons. I went with the butterfly as I liked the leg space/tall kid capacity for longevity. If portability is your thing, the joolz. If quality/$$$, Minu.

Have the Joolz aer2 and the wheels are great! It’s a great travel stroller
Thread: "Bugaboo Butterfly 2"
Yeah I saw the new butterfly was “newborn” ready but wasn’t impressed with the recline and not convinced it’s ok for newborns. Certainly not for long sleeps. I don’t know why the Australian version (Joolz Aer 2 as well) don’t do the full recline like overseas versions. It’s frustrating as different websites say it is or isn’t safe from newborn (some say if you attach a capsule to it then it’s better for newborn) It will be perfectly fine for 5 month old though when you travel
Thread: "Experiences and pros and cons between Joolz Aer+ vs Joolz Aer2?"
Hey, just commenting as I’m in the same boat. The main differences that may matter seem to be: - the Aer+ bassinet isn’t rated for overnight sleep, while the Aer2’s is. I think it’s something to do with the sides of the Aer+ not being high enough. This might matter to you, I’m trying to figure out if it matters to us! we’d planned on using the bassinet as a safe sleep space for naps in our living room. Would be happy to be corrected on this! - The Aer+ has marginally smaller wheels, so is potentially less able to handle uneven surfaces (but really, not sure how much you’d notice this). - the Nest 2 Seat attachment which faces parent is not compatible (as I understand it) with the Aer+, only the 2. It seems like a nice extra but really more of a nice to have for us as it’s another £150 or something. Again would be happy to be corrected on this if anyone has tried to fit the nest to the +. - there is a difference in how the foot rest adjusts. A bonus of the Aer+ is that it’s been around for a little longer so Aer+ prams and bassinets have started popping up in the second hand market, which the Aer2 hasn’t quite yet, if you’re considering going that route. At least these are the things that stick in my head from the research I’ve done. I’m still not sure what we’ll go with so following this thread to hear real world experiences!
Thread: "Is Joolz stroller good for nyc?"
The new joolz aer 2 actually has a full recline. You can probably transition to it with a 1 or 2 month old if you feel confident and safe.
Thread: "Bugaboo Butterfly 2"
I’d love to know too! We got the Joolz Aer+ before the Aer2 came out and it was the perfect travel pram except that it didn’t fully recline. Recently bought the Baby Bee Miles and can confirm that the build on the Joolz is better quality, much smoother to drive, feels smaller/lighter and is easier to fold. We only got the Miles so that baby could nap well and it felt wrong to choose our comfort over his but if Aus came out with a fully reclining Joolz Aer2, we’d be all over it!!
Thread: "Decision paralysis: Joolz Aer 2 VS more budget option with newborn recline(any recommendations?)"
I have the Joolz Aer+ (the predecessor of the Joolz Aer 2) and I have been obsessed with this stroller from the start. If you want just one stroller for everyday especially if you’re tight on space, I highly recommend it. We did use the bassinet which was sooo convenient for us for the first 5 months, as we went out for walks every day. But those months go by so quickly. I am storing the bassinet for now (stores flat which is nice) until my second one but I would definitely have sold it otherwise. I’m sure it would work fine without the bassinet. Plus there’s also babywearing as another option until they’re not teeny tiny anymore. You could also hypothetically get the car seat attachments instead of the bassinet and put baby in the car seat for walks less than 2 hours. I have no experience with the silver cross, sorry!

I would go joolz aer 2 and then get the carrycot

I just chatted with someone from Customer Service who said that the Aer 2 would launch in the US in September. I have an upcoming trip to the Netherlands (where it's already available), so wanted to see if it was possible to buy the Aer 2 from their Dutch site and have it shipped to my hotel while I'm there, but unfortunately the Dutch site won't accept a US form of payment.

Just did some research on the Joolz Aer 2, Korean version: Joolz Aer 2 - bigger basket - better wheels (front and rear wheels are same size on Aer2) - built in leg rest (currently an add on for Aer+) - Korean version has full recline. This may not be available in the US due to safety standards of travel strollers. Converted won to USD, price estimate $550-$590. Joolz Aer+ currently selling for $449 brand new.

Does anyone know where you can buy the joolz aer 2 that will ship to the US? I’m going on. A trip and can not wait until end of June
Thread: "Joolz aer2"
I liked the look of this but it doesn’t do parent facing in the stroller mode. We went for the hub2 instead for similar reasons to what you are looking for. Yet to have baby though so still to be tested!
Thread: "Heads up for those considering the Joolz Aer+"
I ended up purchasing from babyjungle because my heart was just set on the Aer2 (even though the Aer+ is now finally on sale in the US!). I paid extra for FedEx shipping but the shipping speed the store gave me was a little deceptive because the stroller was not actually stocked at the time of purchase, so it took about 4-5 business days for them to get it from Joolz before shipping to me. On top of that FedEx did not deliver till a few days after the scheduled date...tracking notes the package went all the way to California before making its way back to the east coast where I live! (The whole thing took a little over 2-3 weeks from purchase date, and then I had to have FedEx hold my package because I left town the day before it was set to be delivered 🥲). Because it did not arrive in time for my trip to Europe, I borrowed another brand of compact stroller from a friend and could have saved a lot of money on shipping by going with regular ol shipping but oh well. Just unboxing it today and super excited...now I have something to compare it too since I used a different one for the past 2 weeks! (Edited for typo)
Thread: "Joolz aer2 vs bugaboo butterfly 2 for plane travel abroad"
I've bought the joolz aer+ and love it. It's on sale at the moment so might be a good option if you want to save money, I don't think it's super different from the aer2. Not sure what you mean by the lie flat portion feels cheap. However if you didn't love it, go for the butterfly 2 if you think it has better features. I don't think many people will have actually compared those 2 exact prams because they're both so new. Did you try the first version and prefer it because I imagine it's similar? I think as long as it fits in the example bin they'll let it onboard.
Thread: "Bugaboo Butterfly 2"
Does anyone know why the Australian versions don’t recline fully? Found this for the Joolz Aer2 as well… I’m tempted to buy it in our destination city to get the recline… (but it’s about $200 more) Bub will 4 months on this short trip, but 9 months for a long trip and I liked the idea of having decent pram naps if reclined
Thread: "Decision paralysis: Joolz Aer 2 VS more budget option with newborn recline(any recommendations?)"
good to know tysm! So aer 2 unlike aer+ does have newborn recline so technically dont need a bassinet so thats a major reason this stroller is on top of my list :D btw..have you ever had trouble with anything where you needed to use the warranty or had to contact customer support and how was it if so..?
Thread: "Joolz Aer2 vs. Minu V3"
We have the aer2 and it’s got a great fold and a lot of functionality. I will say that while it’s relatively light but still feels pretty heavy for something you’re lifting and carrying around an airport or on the go, so anything heavier would feel pretty cumbersome. Some cons: I don’t love that they charge you for every single little accessory, and do feel like the accessory connections aren’t the strongest or best. The car seat wings don’t fold fully flat, and you have to remove them if you want the bar on. And the bar doesn’t swing open, just down, so you kind of have to just pull your kid out of the top and it’s a bit awkward for big kids. I just ordered the bag and ride along board, so I can’t speak to them. All that being said, I really like it for keeping in our car. We haven’t flown with it yet, but will be doing so and putting in the overhead. UPDATE: Returned the footboard because it was terrible. Stroller is way too small for this to be used comfortably by the pusher, it can’t really be used when stroller is reclined, and it didn’t flip up when not in use.
Thread: "Joolz aer2 vs bugaboo butterfly 2 for plane travel abroad"
I tried the butterfly 2 and joolz aer+ and thought the aer+ was better constructed. I bought the aer+, but then literally the day after taking it out, realized the bottom basket was a bit too small, and was a little annoyed by that - and ALSO found out about the joolz aer2, which hadn't been on my radar. The joolz aer2 has a larger basket, so that would've been perfect! I regret not considering the basket, and would've really preferred the aer2, but am (overall) very happy with the joolz aer+.
Thread: "Joolz aer2 vs bugaboo butterfly 2 for plane travel abroad"
Hi! Sorry to hear you would’ve preferred the Butterfly 2 after seeing it in person. Is a return still possible? I got the Aer 2 yesterday after comparing both side by side in store. Your points are fair, but I personally found a few areas where the Aer 2 stood out better. At least IMO. My LO is 12M and prefers sitting upright — the Aer 2 has a more upright seat and feels more cushioned than the Butterfly 2. I’m also tall, so the higher handlebar was a big plus. My hands felt more naturally placed, and the grip was much better thanks to the textured finish (unlike the smooth plastic on the Butterfly 2). The foot latch was also more accessible for my big feet. I didn’t get to compare this against the Butterfly 2. But for Aer 2 I could hang our nappy backpack on the handle without it tipping over, even with no weight in the basket or a baby in the seat. That alone was a big win, even if the basket’s less accessible. That said, I do think the Aer 2 fabric creases more, which makes it look a bit less ‘premium’ compared to the Butterfly 2. It might bug me eventually, but for now, it’s something I am ok with.

If it has a full flat recline to make it newborn compatible, I may need to go for it instead of the mini v3 I bought. That being said, Joolz hasn’t gotten the full flat recline approved in the USA before so I am not holding my breath 🙃

I don't want to hype up the minu v3 too much but I am really obsessed with it. I recommend watching some youtube videos if you can't see it in person. I did a ton of research and I was eyeing the aer 2 but the basket on the minu v3 is amazing (I am an overpacker)

I have a new Joolz Aer2 but bought a gently used Joolz Aer prior and love them both but the Aer2 has the full recline, it’s a bit heavier, it’s got a largerish basket, I love the stroller so much I gave my full size stroller the Nuna Mixx Next to my mom (grandma) and use the Joolz Aer2 as my every day for every situation stroller
Thread: "Decision paralysis: Joolz Aer 2 VS more budget option with newborn recline(any recommendations?)"
I was looking at joolz aer 2 and silver cross NIA. The biggest differences between the two are: JA2 has parent facing options that you don’t seem to care about; SCN comes with more accessories included (rain cover, bar, maybe others); and SC warranty is much shorter, idk what difference that makes in practice. SCN is about a pound heavier, I think the basket has higher capacity too. I went with JA2 because I wanted both the bassinet and the nest to seat, and i expect to have at least one more kid. Also being a pound lighter sounded nice. And the long warranty.
Thread: "Bugaboo Butterfly 2"
I bought a fully flat travel stroller (Le Clerc Baby Influencer) after I had my heart set on the Butterfly once the salesman told me it wasn’t a true lie flat. He said newborn ready as a statement is a bit deceptive as in Australia there’s allowed to be a slight angle, and 130-150 degrees is acceptable under the product safety guidelines. I ended up with our choice due to true lie flat/one handled fold/price. I think bugaboo and Joolz just don’t do it because there doesn’t have to be under Australian law in combination with some sort of cost saving I assume by not manufacturing fully lie flat. https://www.productsafety.gov.au/business/search-mandatory-standards/prams-and-strollers-mandatory-standard#:~:text=Strollers%20with%20a%20backrest%20that,either%20end%20of%20the%20stroller.

Thread: "WARNING: Bugaboo Butterfly 2 US model has no Lay-Flat Recline"
Ok thank you for this. I bought the Uppababy minu v3 a few weeks ago before the tariff price hike but I was starting to get buyer’s remorse when I saw that Bugaboo released the Butterfly 2 and Joolz was going to release the Aer 2 soon! But now that I’m seeing that the Butterfly 2 likely won’t have the near flat newborn compatible recline and the Aer 2 still has that weird zip recline, I feel much better about my choice.

I have the butterfly and we have travelled with it and it was great. Saying that if I could choose again I'd get the aer2 or the yoyo. I find the butterfly is at a bit of an angle. Can't really go wrong with either though.
Thread: "Decision paralysis: Joolz Aer 2 VS more budget option with newborn recline(any recommendations?)"
We have the Aer2 and really like the flat recline. It’s a great travel stroller and we leave it in the car when we’re not traveling. It’s very compact and very smooth for its small wheels. We do have a larger primary stroller. We live in a city and walk almost everywhere (we might use the car 3-4x monthly). Our typical walking mileage prompted us to invest in a stroller with larger wheels to make for an easier glide over roughly paved sides and curbs. No regrets! We leave the big stroller in the foyer of our condo building and take it for daily walks. I can’t really imagine doing all this walking with just a travel stroller because our typical walking routes are not smooth pavement, but ymmv (literally). Small gripes: — We tend to keep the seat in “reclined” mode since our baby is only 4 months and isn’t ready for a more upright ride and that makes the fold a little less compact — the car seat adapters for our Nuna car seat aren’t the easiest to snap on (compared to other car seat adapters that we use for our larger, main stroller)z

Love the Joolz Aer 2 for the city. It’s great for getting in and out of all stores/restaurants, yet still sturdy enough for imperfect sidewalks or gravel paths in Central Park. If I’m going out with my infant only, I’ll always choose the Joolz. That said, if I’m planning on spending a long day outside with both my infant and my 5 year old, I’ll opt for my Uppababy Vista, as I can put everything I could possibly need for the day (e.g., diaper bag, water bottles for everyone, my 5 yo’s soccer ball, the sweatshirts we’ll need in the morning but eventually throw off in the afternoon, etc), in the basket of the Vista. That’s not possible with the Joolz.
