Joolz Aer+

🏆 Best Overall

The Joolz Aer+ is a lightweight travel stroller designed for easy portability, featuring a one-hand fold and compatibility with a bassinet attachment. It is suitable for children from birth and offers a comfortable recline for naps.

Pros (+)

  • Lightweight and easy to carry on public transport
  • One-hand fold is convenient for busy parents
  • Comfortable for naps with a good recline

Cons (−)

  • Storage basket is too small for many parents
  • Customer service can be slow for parts issues
  • Does not fully recline for newborns without a bassinet

Why parents like it

Parents appreciate how easily the Joolz Aer+ fits in overhead compartments on planes and its smooth maneuverability on city streets. The one-hand fold feature is particularly praised for its convenience while managing a baby.

Common complaints

Several parents report that the storage basket is too small for practical use, making it difficult to carry essentials. A few also mention experiencing slow customer service when dealing with parts issues.

Best for

Ideal for parents who frequently travel and need a compact stroller that folds easily. Just be prepared for limited storage space compared to bulkier models.

Bottom line

The Joolz Aer+ is a fantastic travel stroller for city dwellers, but its small storage basket may not meet everyone's needs.

Unfortunately this isn’t a United issue but an all airlines issue. I second the recommendations above…cheap stroller for travel and keep the expensive ones at home.

Thread: "Is Joolz stroller good for nyc?"

The Joolz Aer is a great NYC option! I personally have the Bugaboo Butterfly, which I've heard is quite comparable to the Aer. I also have a much larger stroller but I find myself reaching for the travel stroller (Bugaboo Butterfly, in your case the Aer) far more often. I believe it's actually the smartest move to go with a travel stroller if you live in NYC. Sometime elevators don't work at the subway and you need a quick easy fold, with a one handed carry -- boom, Aer checks that box. Sometimes you need to jump in a cab and again have an easy fold -- boom, Aer. Going out to dinner or walking into a shop you want something compact that can fold down easily if need be; again the Joolz Aer has you covered here. And yes, to answer your question the wheels can handle the city for sure. The question you may run into is if you also want something bigger for grocery runs, park picnics, etc where you just need more cargo space. Many NYC parents (myself included) ultimately realize they need two strollers. But if I had to pick one, I'd go with the travel stroller. By the way, I work at GoodBuy Gear and I'm writing from this account. Check out our website if you want an open box Joolz Aer (or Butterfly) at a great deal. And holler with any other questions!

The top three are probably Bugaboo Butterfly, Joolz Aer, and Uppababy Minu. I would recommend that you go to Nordstrom and try them out if possible, as it’s mostly personal preference between the three.

I’m a nanny who’s used many strollers, and the Joolz Aer is my favorite! I think you really need a one hand fold and a shoulder strap for the subway. I have the nuna travel for my son, which is a close second. You’ll see a ton of yo-yos, but I find them hard to fold up.

We love our ergobaby metro! Edit: some considerations that will help you narrow down options - what's your budget? The bugaboo butterfly, uppababy minu, joolz aer, stokke yoyo etc are highly rated compact strollers but are the most expensive. The ergobaby metro is a mid range priced stroller. There are also very affordable options too. Are there specific features you care about? For example, do you want it to be able to fully recline flat for naps or for younger babies, or a canopy with good coverage, or a good size basket? The ergobaby metro checks those boxes. Or do you care more about being super lightweight? The joolz aer is only 13 pounds. Or do you want a large basket? The bugaboo butterfly is your pick.

It’s the weight. To be airline approved, it has to be under 7kg. The joolz aer is 6. AU doesn’t allow lay flat recliners at this weight. My guess is that they’re worried they will flip with young baby in them, particularly if you hang bangs or anything off it. The lay flat ones in market aren’t technically airline approved as they’re above 7kg

Love the Joolz Aer. I've put in hundreds of miles with it and it's still going strong. I keep waiting for the wheels to eventually wear down. I carry it up and down subway stairs, take it on the bus, etc. Someone had given us a much heavier duty Uppa Baby stroller that we used like three times then never again because we found the Joolz so much more manageable.

Thread: "Experiences and pros and cons between Joolz Aer+ vs Joolz Aer2?"

Hey, just commenting as I’m in the same boat. The main differences that may matter seem to be: - the Aer+ bassinet isn’t rated for overnight sleep, while the Aer2’s is. I think it’s something to do with the sides of the Aer+ not being high enough. This might matter to you, I’m trying to figure out if it matters to us! we’d planned on using the bassinet as a safe sleep space for naps in our living room. Would be happy to be corrected on this! - The Aer+ has marginally smaller wheels, so is potentially less able to handle uneven surfaces (but really, not sure how much you’d notice this). - the Nest 2 Seat attachment which faces parent is not compatible (as I understand it) with the Aer+, only the 2. It seems like a nice extra but really more of a nice to have for us as it’s another £150 or something. Again would be happy to be corrected on this if anyone has tried to fit the nest to the +. - there is a difference in how the foot rest adjusts. A bonus of the Aer+ is that it’s been around for a little longer so Aer+ prams and bassinets have started popping up in the second hand market, which the Aer2 hasn’t quite yet, if you’re considering going that route. At least these are the things that stick in my head from the research I’ve done. I’m still not sure what we’ll go with so following this thread to hear real world experiences!

I’d love to know too! We got the Joolz Aer+ before the Aer2 came out and it was the perfect travel pram except that it didn’t fully recline. Recently bought the Baby Bee Miles and can confirm that the build on the Joolz is better quality, much smoother to drive, feels smaller/lighter and is easier to fold. We only got the Miles so that baby could nap well and it felt wrong to choose our comfort over his but if Aus came out with a fully reclining Joolz Aer2, we’d be all over it!!

I have the Joolz Aer+ (the predecessor of the Joolz Aer 2) and I have been obsessed with this stroller from the start. If you want just one stroller for everyday especially if you’re tight on space, I highly recommend it. We did use the bassinet which was sooo convenient for us for the first 5 months, as we went out for walks every day. But those months go by so quickly. I am storing the bassinet for now (stores flat which is nice) until my second one but I would definitely have sold it otherwise. I’m sure it would work fine without the bassinet. Plus there’s also babywearing as another option until they’re not teeny tiny anymore. You could also hypothetically get the car seat attachments instead of the bassinet and put baby in the car seat for walks less than 2 hours. I have no experience with the silver cross, sorry!

Similar experience (not as bad, though) traveling with a brand new $1,000 Joolz. Lesson learned... we bought a Joolz Aer, which folds into a tiny square that fits in overhead bins, even the tiny short ones in 777 planes. BEST DECISION EVER. That stroller has gotten thousand of miles all over the world. Highly recommend buying it for anyone that travels a lot or who prefers to have a firm, sturdy stroller that can be collapsed or opened with the flick of the wrist.

I have a Joolz Aer+ as my all day everyday pram and I freaking love it. I was actually choosing between that and the babyzen and found the Joolz much easier to open and close with one hand. It felt a lot more solid than the babyzen but without being heavy (I live on the first floor and rountinely carry it and baby up and down the stairs with ease). My baby is 5 months and also 14lb so your bub should be just fine.

Thread: "Recommendations for a stroller that's for an 8mo and fits overhead compartment on a plane? "

The Babyzen Yoyo seems to be the most popular and most recognised by airlines. We have a Joolz Aer+ which I bought instead the Yoyo as it has a 1 hand fold and is a bit taller, I really like it, I use it for travel and for quick trips out at home where I don’t want to get the big pram out. But every time I try to take it on a plane I’m told I need to check it, then I say “no it fits in the overhead” and then they ask “is it a Yoyo”. Initially I just said it was like a Yoyo but that was causing issues, so now I just lie say that it is because it’s easier. So if you don’t want to be questioned - a Yoyo is the most recognised and accepted for air travel.

I had this debate too. I figured if I wanted to go with a light weight stroller I should fully commit to get the benefits of a small stroller (the minu still seemed quite large/heavy compared to the Joolz Aer). It sucks because I also wanted to use the bassinet and car seat with our travel stroller but thought I may be disappointed with how big the minu still is. Though fwiw, I heard some airlines don't allow strollers in the cabin even if they are carry on size (which very few are, I think the GB Pocket and Mountain Buggy Nano are the only ones).

We got a Joolz aer and it’s been amazing! We have a bumbleride era which was originally our main stroller but we almost never use it anymore. We live in a big city and don’t have a car so we use the stroller daily, got it when babe was 6 months and she’s 17 months now. The Joolz folds super easy with one hand, it’s light weight but doesn’t feel tippy and it’s been fine on cracked sidewalks and is manageable even on grass if it’s not too long grass. It folds quite small, we can keep it behind our condo front door. The basket isn’t as large as the bugaboo but that was less important to me than ease of folding and maneuverability which I read are better with the Joolz.

This may not be available in the US due to safety standards of travel strollers. Converted won to USD, price estimate $550-$590. Joolz Aer+ currently selling for $449 brand new.

They aren’t two separate strollers actively available for purchase you can choose between. I noticed you didn’t have the original Vista or Cruz and only the V2 listed for example.
