Ergobaby metro 3

The Ergobaby Metro 3 is a compact travel stroller designed for easy portability and convenience. It features a one-hand fold mechanism, a larger storage basket, and is suitable for infants and toddlers.

Pros (+)

  • Lightweight and easy to carry for travel
  • One-hand fold feature simplifies storage
  • Compact design fits in overhead bins

Cons (−)

  • Brake mechanism may have reliability issues
  • Not ideal for rough or uneven terrain
  • Limited storage space compared to larger strollers

Why parents like it

Many parents appreciate the stroller's lightweight design, making it easy to carry during travels. The one-hand fold feature is frequently highlighted as a game changer for busy parents on the go.

Common complaints

A few parents have mentioned issues with the brake mechanism, which can be a concern for safety. Additionally, some users have noted that the stroller may not handle rough terrain as well as other models.

Best for

Parents looking for a lightweight stroller that is easy to fold and carry while traveling. The tradeoff is that it may not be as sturdy on uneven surfaces compared to heavier models.

Bottom line

The Ergobaby Metro 3 is a great travel companion for parents, though some may find the brake mechanism less reliable than desired.

I have taken my Ergobaby metro+ on 3 plane trips within Canada, to Mexico, and Ireland. I love it. There’s a new version, the metro 3.

Thread: "Best compact travel stroller for flights"

We have the Ergobaby Metro plus. Traveled with my baby in a 20 hour flight with a 2 hour layover. It was lightweight and comfortable enough for me to carry on my own with my 3 month old as my husband wasn’t travelling with us. Plus it has a complete recline feature for newborns. Also used it as a primary stroller during the same vacation and bub seems to enjoy it! Oh, also…overhead bin compatible!

I purchased the Ergobaby Metro 3 yesterday after doing a lot of research and trying out a few options in store. Tbh most of the travel strollers on the market are pretty comparable. At some point you end up debating between very minor differences so it’s fully up to you what you value most. The super compact ones tend to be a little worse on the stability and suspension and are more “flimsy” if it makes sense. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Bugaboo butterfly for this reason.

i have the metro plus and i think it would absolutely fit in the overhead bin! we love it. i didn't see the need to get the deluxe, i bought it for 30% of through best buy of all places and it came very quickly. it's a great stroller - it's so easy to maneuver and it was fantastic on vacation.

Thread: "[ON] Lightweight/travel stroller recommendations please"

I got the Ergobaby Metro Plus and it's great! We used it from newborn because it can lay flat and has sides to prevent newborn from rolling out. Great lightweight travel stroller. I have a Bob I use for outdoors / neighborhood walks, but use the Ergobaby for shops / anything indoors. It's compact to stay in the trunk and travel with. My only complaint is the basket is quite small (as most lightweight strollers are), so if it gets a lot of use I would get the deluxe version for that little extra bit of basket space.

Thread: "Best travel stroller that isn't $600?"

Check out the Ergo metro plus! If you have any specific questions dm me. They sell it at bbb and snuggle bugz. what we like: - cheap (randomly found it for $300 on bbb) - folds up small in our trunk - heavy duty wheels to take on rough terrain (by no means good for rocks but can handle grass and cobblestone) - lies flat (this was important do we could nap on the go) - a little travel bassinet feature “Cons” - folds with one hand but need a second to press it closed, no big deal but for some this was a huge turn off - sun shade is noisy - not a ton if room in undercarriage like in our Cruz - have to buy a storage bag and stroller bar (if you want) separately

Thread: "Ergobaby Metro+ vs. Metro 3"

Hi, I actually have both the metro+ and I just got the metro 3. I traveled all around Japan with a 15-month-old with the metro+ so it’s not a bad travel or everyday stroller option by any means but I will say that the metro 3 has several features that make me like it more and are worth the additional price: - ease of folding / unfolding: I always struggled with the mechanism for the metro+, and never liked that sometimes I would have to use both hands; with the metro 3 I can easily fling it open with one - the canopy: the metro+ canopy is really glitchy which can also make it more inconvenient to use and the metro 3 canopy is expandable! - the wheels: either stroller actually has good wheels but so far metro 3 are smooth and their suspension is better than my other stroller (Nuna TRVL) - standing upright: the metro+ would often fall over in the trunk while the metro 3 has been holding more steady - newborn features: not sure if this is applicable to you now or later but the metro 3 has a whole new attachment / encasement for newborns that the metro+ doesn’t have There are more comparisons / reasons why, but honestly, the folding mechanism and the canopy were such deal breakers for me that I won’t be using the metro+ any more and have moved on to the 3. If it makes you feel any better it looks like metro + strollers have free returns if you decide to try that one first https://ergobaby.com/return-policy.

We have the metro+ and we love it. It’s not a one hand fold, but doesn’t really bother me as LO is in the car seat before I fold/open the stroller. I think it’s quite sturdy and great value for money. It has larger wheels compared to other travel stroller for a sturdier ride. The basket is small, but for large grocery run, LO is in the grocery cart or both parents are there so we don’t really use the basket much. I think metro 3 is a one hand fold and has a bigger basket if that’s important to you.

FYI if you go to the Ergobaby web site, they have a new version out, Metro 3 compact for $469. 299 is a good price, but who knows maybe there will be deeper discounts the longer this new version is out.

We have this one, the ergobaby metro plus. For our daily, we have the bugaboo Fox 5, which is a big leap in terms of weight, storage and overall feel. Thread: "Travel stroller that fits in overhead compartment? [AB]"

As a heads up you may still be asked to check it based on overhead room. The best way to avoid checking it is have it in a bag so they don't quickly clock it as a stroller. We have the ergobaby metro plus bag that turns it into a backpack. It's not the best backpack but it does fit nicely and it can be handy to wear for a short distance. For what it's worth in the (thin) bag we had no damage to our stroller gate checking it multiple times. Plus it's really really nice not to have to deal with it on the plane especially with everything else.

We also have this stroller. Took it on board on two flights. It folds up small enough to go in the overhead locker. And it lies completely flat too!

Thanks for the review! I've been trying to land on a travel pram for months but keep delaying the purchase. Was there anything you liked / disliked more between the minu3 and the butterfly? I am waiting for the ergo baby metro3 to land in Australia and it should be here by November. I was sold for some time on it but recently found some negative reviews on how noisy it is.

I have the Ergobaby Metro 3 and I LOVE it. We also have Uppababy Cruz V2 as well which is too big for us. We’ve been using the metro 3 as our every day stroller now and we just took it to Los Cabos for holiday. AirCanada allowed us to put in the over head, it was so amazing on holiday. The big factor for us other than the quality of the stroller was the fact that the price point is so reasonable but it’s really a premium stroller.

Thread: "Stroller for Disneyland: Cybex Libelle 2 vs Ergobaby Metro Plus"

For what a trip like this, Libelle all the way. Our son by the age of 3 didn't like being in a stroller too much at fun places. I don't know how Disney is about wagons, but I would have gone with a Veer wagon over a stroller had I known how awesome they were for the kid. We had to take our son to the Renaissance Festival with a wagon after he hurt his foot right before. He was 6 last year when this happened. The wagon was super easy for him to get in and out of with not having to strap him in. The challenge with a stroller in general past a certain age is they don't like being strapped in when they want to jump out and look at things all the time. Understandable, but I was like "ok I won't strap you in, but you need to let me know if you want me to stop". He jumped out of the stroller multiple times with no warning, and he got run into by the stroller almost every time. A wagon we didn't run into these issues with him at Ren Fest, and he had a blast with all the space. All of that being said, I just looked it up and it appears Disney does NOT allow wagons. But outside of the specific use case at Disney, your 3-year old may like a wagon for places like the zoo or beach vs a stroller. I would have switched to a wagon around the age of 3 vs a stroller had I known how much better he got along with the wagon vs thinking the stroller was a prison.

Thread: "Ergobaby Metro+ vs. Metro 3"

Hi! Sorry just seeing this! Yes, I bought the metro 3 , and this is an honest review from Dadlyfe, a father of 3 who usually just buys something without research and lives to regret it But LETTTT ME telll you , excuse my language but this stroller is fucking awesome! From the pretty olive green color (I love all shades of green but olive is my favorite shade so you know I had to snag that color) to the spacious basket on the bottom, to 4 suspension wheels, yes 4! You can literally see the suspension in the front wheel it’s actually sick. My friends pulled up on me today during my lunch break and I was like yoo you guys gotta check this shit out and I just whipped the stroller out the trunk 😂( they don’t have kids or anything) and I showed them the suspension and they were pretty impressed because they didn’t believe me at first But no for real, I have owned an uppa baby with my ex, like 4 years ago I think, was supposed to be a compact stroller, that shit sucked folding. Had a baby jogger? I think that’s the brand name I remember that one it was alright, but now that I have a new almost 1.5 year old, and always running around with my first two not so little babies and only a jeep compass, I did research upon research , until this came out. It was time for me to make an investment I may or may not regret and hopefully would be worth it I grabbed the metro 3 It’s really a click of a button fold itself up stroller, they do not lie. The magnetic cover to see the child, not sure what it’s called. The brake, the brake sucks, pretty sure I broke the brake on the first stroller that I had to have Amazon ship me another 😂 not sure what happened but this new one, it works fine though, my first one wouldn’t release the wheels and yeah I dragged that bitch until I realized something was up. So now I don’t fold it with wheels locked up. There is so much basket room I just went shopping yesterday with it and my 4 year old we filled it up and still room, great size The smoothness the glide it’s like putting ice skates on and hitting the ice after the Zamboni just got done smoothing it out. It’s so nice it’s just like wow I’m pushing nothing it’s so light Goes on grass amazing as well Always a con you ready for it Cup holder smh, none!!!!! But I just ordered a momcozy one saw good reviews on Amazon No rider board for it yet, I’m gonna try universal ones to see if my other kids (and me as well because I used to whip the uppa baby with it) like it. But I’m probably missing something, but like I said this is an honest review from A dad who does not use his head at all but loves thy children more than lyfe! This is not a stroller for my babies mother, this is for me, for my car, my adventures because I’m always doing something with a child or children if I’m not at work It fits perfect in my trunk too I’m so happy with this purchase . It’s fucking amazing

Thread: "Ergobaby Metro+ vs. Metro 3"

Hey OP - how is it going with the Metro3? I’ve seen some great reviews online but then I’ve also seen this trend where people are having issues with the brake mechanism and one of the wheels locking up. It would really annoy me to spend $350 on a stroller just to have this issue (especially when I could get the Metro+ open box for a lot cheaper now). But the upgrades do seem maybe worth it to go for the Metro3
