Cons (−)
- Some parents report a strong chemical smell upon unpacking
- Quality control issues with finish reported by a few
- Assembly can be challenging for some parents
Why parents like it
Many parents appreciate the sturdy construction and the value for money, especially when compared to higher-end brands. The ability to convert the crib into different bed types is frequently praised as a practical feature.
Common complaints
A few parents report a strong chemical odor from the crib upon arrival, which made them hesitant to use it immediately. Additionally, some have expressed concerns about the overall finish and quality control of the product.
Parents looking for an affordable, convertible crib that lasts through multiple stages of childhood. The tradeoff is that some may experience issues with chemical smells or finish quality.
The Delta crib offers great value and versatility, but be prepared for potential chemical odors upon unboxing.

Keep an eye out on there for options too!!

Look up delta cribs. I was originally eying a west elm one and found a just as nice one from delta (in mid century style) for half the price (and it included the conversion kit). I did get a nice toddler bookshelf from pb, but found most of their wood furniture to be really lacking in quality when I visited a local store. I ended up with the basic white ikea dresser which has served us well for 2 years

Just throwing this out there for OP: we have a Delta children's crib (same brand as above, we have the Essex model) and it's SOLID. It survived being taken apart by movers, moved across the country, and reassembled without any issue (and it's not like corporate movers are the most gentle with furniture). So definitely a quality product, despite being much cheaper than PB!
Thread: "What kind of crib did you buy from where?"
Delta children Essex 4 in 1 convertible crib off Amazon is only $169 and has great reviews and we love it! A brand new delta mattress to go with it is only $85.
Thread: "Where did you get your crib?"
We got our nursery set from Delta. It’s really great quality and a nice selection to choose from. I think there’s a pop up coupon when you go to the site

I have a delta crib I bought from buy buy baby in 2022 and can confirm it is solid as a rock. It was only 150 bucks too.

2015 Delta crib checking in! Just sold that bad boy on fb marketplace after going thru 2.5 kids (friend borrowed it for half a year lol). Thing was rock solid and looked really good still

Just some advice from someone who owns a data science company. Those pop-up coupons are so the company can sell your details, they can't sell your data from you buying anything but they can sell it if you sign up for a mailing list. Just be cautious about jumping on those 10% off deals as your details are absolutely being sold to other companies. (Not trying to be mean, just letting you know as so many people don't and I see so many customers in my line of work who are shocked by this).
Thread: "Anyone have experience with a Mini Crib? Any recommendations?"
We have [this one](https://www.target.com/p/delta-children-classic-mini-crib-convertible-to-twin-bed-greenguard-gray/-/A-51529436) which I got used. Contrary to the other commenter I found that mini cribs and pack n plays do NOT have the same size mattress. Some do, but most mini cribs are 1-2” longer and 1-2” thinner, so it doesn’t fit perfectly.
Thread: "Crib shopping advice?"
We ordered a Delta Children crib from their website after seeing several models from that brand in stores. We didn't see the exact model we got, but I have no complaints! We have the dresser, changing table (which will convert to additional storage as she grows), and a crib that converts to a toddler bed and daybed all in the same line, and love it.
Thread: "Should’ve known I couldn’t afford pottery barn lol"
another win for delta! i have the 4 in 1 delta in skylar? maybe i think haha. absolutely love it. very solid crib and converts many ways. very good price too. going on my third baby with it!
Thread: "Crib safety-non toxic?"
I second the person who said their Delta Children product was very chemical-smelly - I found that on a lot of reviews so avoided their cribs. I haven’t opened the box with our DaVinci crib yet so can’t comment on that. However, I have a DaVinci bassinet that my friend passed down from her baby she had a year ago, and I wouldn’t say there is too strong of a smell at this point. Our new recliner is MUCH more smelly. Definitely go with Greenguard Gold though, at a minimum.

Delta dresser here that has survived a toddler (now preschooler) and a move up two flights of stairs!

I fell in love with the same crib at pottery barn!! But I also didn’t want to pay $1k for a crib that would probably get chewed on anyway. I ended up buying the saint nursery collection from delta children’s website where you can piece together a crib, mattress, crib sheets, nursing chair AND a dresser for $1,400. (https://www.deltachildren.com/pages/bundles) However, there is also a dupe of the saint set from delta children that is sold at target. Here is the link 😁 (https://www.target.com/p/delta-children-serena-4-in-1-convertible-crib-natural-sandstone/-/A-93145612)

I have the Delta Poppy convertible crib (link below). My baby is 6 months and so far we love it. We did use a bassinet in the beginning for like the first 9 weeks. We have it on the second setting now that he’s rolling around. I went with this brand because they were in my budget and they passed all the safety stuff. I also like that they are green guard certified —that was a major thing I looked for in furniture in my babies room. Delta Saint, it’s on back order til Nov though
Thread: "What brand of cribs is cheap/affordable but good?"
I found Facebook marketplace in my area was just as expensive as the $250 new delta children crib that I bought from Target and had delivered for free that I didn’t have to pick up. Looks great and was super easy to put together.
Thread: "Should’ve known I couldn’t afford pottery barn lol"
This is the one we got - except we got it from Target!
Thread: "What are items you shouldn’t put on registry/you should buy yourself"
Yep, our first baby slept in bassinet in our room for 6 months before being relocated to her “nursery”. The only thing I needed to use in the nursery was a changing table but now with my 2nd, I got a portable changing table. There was never a rush to get the nursery done, imo. I hardly used it.

We have a Delta too (don't remember the model, got it from Target) and it's great.

My delta crib is on its 3rd baby in 4 years. Would be in perfect condition if it weren’t for a single bite mark on the side.
Thread: "best convertible crib how do you even choose one as a first time parent?"
There are some beautiful cribs out there but personally I went the practical route since I figure we can make the room cute when my kid will actually appreciate it. I wanted an affordable crib that was greenguard gold certified from a reputable brand and would raise and lower for different stages. Otherwise they’re all kind of the same unless you’re going for something super fancy (ie cradle wise). We did the Delta Children’s Poppy crib and ended up buying the toddler rail when our kid was around a year and a half or so to convert it to a toddler bed. So many of them say 4 in 1 or 6 in 1 which is kind of ridiculous marketing in my option. Like, maybe I’ll remove the toddler rail at some point and just have it be an open bed, but it’s most likely never going to be a sofa or whatever the other options are. All cribs are able to be used from day 1 so you don’t need it to convert to a bassinet.
Thread: "Crib shopping advice?"
I have the Delta Adley which converts to a toddler bed. It’s not as nice as my Rooms to Go furniture but I have not found a flaw with it. No one needs an heirloom quality crib, the baby will only be in it for a few years.
Thread: "Incredibly dumb question - are the $800+ cribs worth it?"
My parents got me a $600 crib and my second kid (2 under 2) we got a Delta Children’s crib for $129. Both hold up just fine, one I felt less bad about my toddler beaver chewing the entire top railing of all 4 sides.

We have a convertible delta crib and our daughter loves it.

I have the same one and like it too besides the rails always feeling loose.

This is what we did. Convertible crib (with mattress), 6 drawer dresser, changing table (with memory foam pad), swiveling rocker and bassinet for around $1200

The Serena and Lily cribs by delta are very similar! It would be a good dupe. I have the brown Serena crib and I love it!!

Ok thanks for the heads up. I'll double check measurements before I buy anything. That's a nice crib thanks for the recommendation!
