  • Durable enough to last through multiple children
  • Adjustable mattress height for easy access

Cons (−)

  • Limited color options available
  • Basic design may not suit all nursery styles

Why parents like it

Many parents appreciate the sturdy construction and how it has lasted through multiple children. The adjustable mattress height is also a favorite feature, making it easy to access the baby.

Yes! I've had no issues with the sniglar and sundvik cribs, and they've been taken apart and reused by someone else too. We switched to the Kura for a floor bed setup at around 13 months and it was the best decision we've ever made. It was the key to our son becoming an independent sleeper.

We got the Ikea Sundvik and we’re happy with it. It does only have 2 levels though but includes the piece that allows you to remove a side once they are big enough. It is low to the ground so there isn’t the fence type thing but they won’t fall far. My oldest didn’t sleep on it without the side as he preferred the big mattress, but did use it like a day bed to read a book or play. My youngest is still sleeping in it normally

Thread: "Has anyone converted a crib to a sidecar?"

We got an ikea Sundvik crib and it was magically the exact same height as our bed with a mattress it in. We took the side off—the one that can be removed when you turn it into a toddler bed. We secured it with bungee cords to our bed frame. Honestly that thing would not move unless we made an effort, it’s quite heavy with the mattress inside.

IKEA cribs for sure. We have the Sundvik and have owned it on two continents. It's great!

We have the Sundvik crib from IKEA. Basic crib that retails for $299. We really like it. It converts to a toddler bed but we have another baby on the way now so we’ll end up putting our toddler into a single bed and just leave this as a crib. Ours doesn’t have wheels, which I like. It stays where it is despite our baby rocking and flopping around in there. It doesn’t have a solid back - this is something my sister was really concerned about for her baby but we haven’t had an issue with. Our little guy occasionally sticks his arms out but has never gotten caught. We don’t have storage in ours so I can’t comment on that. We got our mattress at IKEA too and it fits like a glove. There are a million great cribs on FB marketplace if price is a big driver. We got one there for the grandparents’ house and just picked up a mattress at Walmart - they’re pretty standard sizes I think. Good luck! I know this phase is stressful but as long as the crib has been sold in Canada in the past 10 years or so I don’t think you can go wrong.

We got the Sundvik crib from Ikea. Very sturdy. No baby yet to try it out. But it was easy to put together, converts to a toddler bed and the price can't really be beat.

This! We got a used Sundvik on marketplace and a new ikea mattress and spent $100 total. Looks great, works great, does the job!

We have the Sundvik from Ikea and got a mattress from there as well, very affordable. Bought it for baby 1 and it's now crib for baby 2 as well.

Thread: "To IKEA or not to IKEA?? (cribs)"

We got our crib right around 13 weeks I think. We got the SUNDVIK in black-brown. We liked the price, the sturdiness when we played with it at the store, and that it converts into a toddler bed. I don't really like white cribs, but then I don't really like white furniture in general. I have a white desk and cube storage in my office, but that's because the desk was cheaper that way. The cube storage just matches since its basically an extension of the desk.

I have the ikea sundvik and newton mattress and I love it! My toddler is a great sleeper and I attribute a bit of that to the newton :-)

We love our sundvik crib. 2 years and still like new. Hoping to get at least 2 more years out of it for #2 due in June.

Thread: "Thoughts on IKEA cribs?"

Our Sundvik crib lasted us through 2 babies, and 3 moves. We then gave it to a friend, who is using it for her new baby. For what it cost, I'd say it was great!
