Thread: "Cybex Aton G Swivel"

Hi! I have this car seat and love it! It’s great quality and the swivel is great! It’s super helpful when getting baby out of car seat and also swivels towards in the inside of the backseat (so helpful when breastfeeding in backseat). I got my open box new from RebelStork for $250!

Thread: "Pricey convertible car seat? Worth it or marketing?"

This is the one we’re planning on getting. We have the Cybex Aton 2 infant seat and gazelle stroller. If there is an option for the sensorsafe get it! It’s awesome, on mine it tells us if we forgot him in the car, if he’s too hot or too cold, if he comes unbuckled mid trip, and if he’s been in the seat too long. I know it’s an option on some Evanflo and Cybex seats

Thread: "Question on car seat / travel system"

1. I thought the option of being able to put the car seat on to the pram was very helpful. You definitely dont want to wake baby in the early days moving into the pram. 2. I have the Cybex Aton B2 and love it. It’s lightweight and not as heavy as the rotating ones. I take the seat out of the car and into the house with baby in it, so no need for a rotating one at the moment, but that might change as baby gets older and heavier. 3. If there’s a possibility of having a second child within the next few years, it’s worth looking at some of the travel systems that can be converted into a double buggy by adding an extra seat. The Uppababy Vista is very popular, but we went with the Cybex Gazelle S as it was better value for money. We got a bundle which included the car seat, base, foot muff & cup holder for €400 less than the uppa baby bundle. You don’t need to purchase the car seat adaptors for the Cybex, they are included, whereas they are an extra with the Uppababy. We also loved that the Cybex pram (bassinet) is approved for overnight sleeping (the Uppababy might also be I think) and the buggy can be folded with the jump seat in place, it doesn’t need to be removed beforehand. If you don’t think a second baby is on the cards, Smyths have some really good value prams in their baby section. My sister had the Ickle Bubba and loved it. You might just need to check compatibility with car seats etc. I would strongly recommend going into a baby shop and going through all the different options. They will explain the differences to you and help you pick based on your priorities. Best of luck!

Thread: "Cybex Aton swivel Infant Car Seat [on]"

Cybex is a really good brand and the Aton was a top contender when we were choosing an infant seat. Ultimately we went with the Clek Liing, but the Cybex Aton is a great seat that is compact, lightweight, made in Germany, and have excellent safety ratings. I don’t know about its compatibility with the Cruz. The only hang up I have about the Cybex swivel feature is that while it’s cool and convenient in theory, realistically the majority of the time baby will be buckled in/out inside the house, not strapped in inside the car, which is where the swivel is super convenient because you aren’t doing the awkward reach-over. The whole point of an infant seat is that you can click them on/off the base, so the swivel feature isn’t actually all that necessary except for the occasional time you may want to take them out of the bucket seat (such as if you’re going to baby wear in the grocery store instead of clicking the seat into the stroller). IMO it makes more sense to put them into a convertible seat with a swivel function if you think you’ll be leaving the seat in the car because you’ll get a lot longer use out of a convertible seat than you will an infant seat. That’s just my opinion though. No hate for the Cybex Aton at all! They’re great quality seats.

Thread: "Lightweight infant car seat with rotating base"

There is the Maxi cosi peri and the Cybex Aton G. No idea why the Peri is $50 more expensive than the Aton G since Cybex is usually considered a better brand. I think the Peri is new though, so idk how good reviews are. The Aton G is tried and tested and people like it. You could also opt to skip the infant carseat and go straight to convertible rotating with infant insert. This means either actually picking up baby and putting in stroller or baby wearing when leaving the car. A third option would be going with the Doona or Evenflo shift dual ride. It's a infant carseat that does not rotate but it can be pulled out and turned into a small stroller. I'd advise against this option though considering how much of a waste of $$$ it is since baby will outgrow the infant carseat in no time. Then you will be forced to buy an actual stroller and actual convertible carseat.

Thread: "Nuna Mixx Next ft. pipa RX Vs Cybex Gazelle S ft Aton G Car Seat"

We have the Cybex Balios S Lux + Aton G. We LOVE the car seat and really like the Balios as well. Our main issue is that to use it before 6 months (without car seat, which is much more often than with car seat since they shouldn't be in car seat long) you have to use the Cot S Lux (bought separately) and between the Cot and Stroller, it takes up the entire trunk of our mid sized SUV. THE Balios is smaller overall but the handle is still adjustable and goes very high, similar to the Gazelle, so I would assume that would be even harder. One reason gazelle is bigger is because it's a single to double stroller. That wasn't important to us, but if that's important to you Gazelle would be good. Can't speak to the Nuna because we didn't buy it, but from what I've seen in person - I feel like Cybex is nicer. The Nuna will have a similar issue with the bassinet, but I don't know how big the bassinet is in person

Thread: "Cybex Aton G Swivel"

Hi, I also have this car seat and am about to transition into a Cybex convertible. I love the Aton swivel function and now I can’t live without it. My son is a chunky kid so it makes putting him in and out and even lifting the seat out of the base easier. I didn’t think a swivelling base would matter all that much but it really helps. All the padding comes apart and can be machine washed, and is easy to reassemble. Plus it snaps into our cybex stroller with ease. I will miss that part, especially if we are out and about and kiddo falls asleep in the car seat.

Thread: "Overwhelmed by car seat options"

I’ve been told the convertible car seats are a pain for newborns. I went with the Cybex Aton G car seat. I’m going to be honest, I bought it because it was white and I have a summer baby so I was worried about black or dark colors overheating. But my baby LOVES this car seat. She instantly stops crying in it and cries when I take her out. It also has an app to remind you to take the baby out after 2 hours has passed (it’s bad for them to be in the car seat too long!), high temperature warning, baby is still in car(I don’t think I need that feature…lol) and the seatbelt is correctly fastened. I wish I got the rotating option because I had a c section, but it’s still really easy with the regular base.

Hi! Do you find that the seat wiggles around in the base? I love this set up but the floor model we looked at, the seat wiggled a lot in the base and I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s a very used floor model.

Thread: "Infant car seats - what did you like?"

Jumping on this! Also got the cybex Aton 2. It was light but I ended up hating it for our California summer because the sunshade was pathetic. I’ve gotten o more expensive cybex since that don’t have that problem… but something to consider if you ever think you will be taking car seat into the sun!

Thread: "Infant car seats - what did you like?"

Anything against a “wouldn’t recommend”? We got a Cybex Aton 2 car seat because it was highly rated and on sale, and we love how it installs but I really dislike the newborn inserts (or lack thereof). We have big babies, and there’s very little adjustability for a baby who is too thick and heavy for the newborn inserts but still needs the newborn head support. We were eager to jump from the infant seat to a convertible seat with better adjustability for fitting both of our kids. If I did the infant bucket seat thing again, we’d probably be doing a Clek Liing. We live in Canada, so that’s a bonus deciding factor for us, and we love our two Clek Foonfs (plus Infant Thingy that we used for a few months with our second baby).

Thread: "Car Seats (newborn to 4yo) - completely lost"

Always take the suggested lengths of baby seats with a pinch of salt... most people stop using them by around age 9-12 months because they just become too heavy and the baby gets more nosy and protests at being sat so low in the car. Looking at that one, it looks pretty much like an updated Aton M2 and if that's true, you got an absolute steal. The headrest does extend outside the shell meaning you probably will get to approx 18 months with it if you choose to keep using it that long. The Aton 5 headrest doesn't extend outside the shell. It lasted my crazily tall baby until 8 months and my average height one until about 13 months, but we swapped him into the Joie 360 at 10 months anyway. Lie flat is a bit of a gimmick, you don't really need a specific lie flat function. 1.5 hours is perfectly fine for a baby to do in one go past the newborn period (4 weeks or so) and 3 hours you could either stop half way for 5 mins or just make the judgement call yourself. Neither are really flat anyway. It's just an insert under the cover and it looks like the S2 has one too (a slightly different design). They do flatten the curve out a little bit, but the seat will never be totally flat like a cot. But then, neither are the ones that advertise themselves as lie flat. Should go onto the Uppababy pram no problem.

Thread: "Is Uppababy Cruz & Mesa car seat worth it ?"

We got the uppababy vista and cannot wait to use it. It’s so light and easy to maneuver and fold up. We also loved that it grows with your family. Yes it is an upfront investment, but it can grow to a double stroller with a standup on the back for a 3rd older child. We didn’t get the mesa car seat though. We opted for the cybex Aton 2 much to disagreement from my MIL. SIL and her husband have a child (1M) and MIL was insistent that we use their car seat even though it wasn’t the one we wanted. She said we were irresponsible to use anything other than that car seat because it was still new and barely used and “not a cheapy one.”

We’ve got the Cybex Gazelle S. No regrets with it at all and compared it to all of the standard options. We liked the feel and space of it the best. In hindsight, I would’ve gotten one regular base and one swivel, as the swivel base isn’t as useful in the smaller car.
