Thread: "Slowly hating myself for this car seat decision."

FOR ANYONE READING We have 3 kids in rear facing seats. Any minivan where you can remove 1-2 of the middle row seats is IDEAL!!! We have the twins in the 3rd row, middle seat open, and our eldest in the passenger side 2nd row seat. Removed middle and driver side 2nd row seats. It’s like a theater in there. Room to load them. Room to move. Room for dogs. Room for cargo. And still a shitload of space in the trunk. My wife was a minivan hater, I loved the idea… tinted windows with the roll up shades and no one even knows I have kids in the car which is purposeful. I love it. Edit to say we have a 2024 Kia Carnival, purposefully without the captains seats in the 2nd row, and all 3 car seats are Revolve360s so take up a lot of space. It’s a daycare loading dream.

Evenflo revolve 360 (I have the Slim version). Should grow with my kid for a long time and omg the ability to turn it to face me to get her in and out of our small vehicles is chef's kiss. We did a 12 hour road trip with her at 14mo in it and she was as comfortable as one can be during a 12hr trip. Whichever you choose, if you can afford it, splurge on something that rotates.

Not crazy as long as you’re okay with taking the baby out every time you go somewhere which it seems like you are! Personally I would go with a rotating car seat especially in those earlier days and they are super easy to adjust without taking the whole thing out. The only downside is how much room they take up since they have to be fully reclined. I use the evenflo revolve 360 slim and it is soooooo nice!!

I was in an accident with my son November 21,2023. We were t-boned on the driver side. My son's Revolve 360 (passenger side) detached from the base and landed on the other side of the car towards the impact point. The carseat was installed with the seatbelt (preferred method) and locked into rearfacing position. We're were in a 2014 chevy cruze and all the curtain airbags deployed. With the Revolve 360, when reclined for rearfacing, there's no way for the seat to swivel to the rightside detach point. In my chevy, the backseat was too small to allow the sweat to swivel inward without being stopped by the door. We believe the force of the curtain airbags deploying and the fact that the vehicle was small, provided enough force to detach the seat. We returned the seat to evenflo for investigation and never heard anything. They replaced it with a Revolve 360 extend and we are hoping they will let us return it.

Thread: "Evenflo revolve 360 recall"

The recall is not a product recall, it's a card recall. Some of the seats didn't have the recall registration card included. The recall is not about the seat being unsafe. It's because they don't have a way to notify you of possible recalls in the future if you didn't get the card to register your car seat.

After 2 kids and 4 car seats, we landed on the evenflo revolve 360. It spins sideways to load/unload your child, and you just spin it forward facing after they grow out of rear facing (around 3 years old depending on kids size) The sideways loading is LIFE CHANGING. It’s about $300, worth every penny. It also goes up to 120#, and you can use it as a booster when they are like 8.

We got the evenflo 360 for kid 2. Our older child’s regular Graco seat went in our other car. They all meet the same safety requirements. There are some extra levels of safety marketed on some seats, but since there isn’t a regulated standard for things like rebound bars or the stabilizing leg, I wouldn’t put too much stock in those features. Pricier car seats are often easier to use and/or more luxe. Things like zip off cushions for easy cleaning, better quality straps and snaps that are easier to use, no rethread straps, bases with simpler installs, or seats that pivot to make getting kids in/out easier. We have the evenflo gold pivot and love it. It’s so much easier to use than the graco one we got for the grandparents car.

Thread: "Evenflo revolve 360 recall"

It’s not a product recall. The registration card was forgotten on some of the seats, not that the seat is dangerous to use. The issues the seat itself has is because of improper use—ie without the base, or not “locked”. Edit: adding the statement from Evenflo Some customers recently received a misleading recall communication from Amazon regarding non-compliant registration cards. There is no safety risk and you may continue using your car seat. The products meet U.S. safety standards with respect to performance. It was discovered that some U.S. customers were able to accidentally purchase Canadian products online, meaning they received a Canadian registration card instead of a U.S. compliant one. If Evenflo has contact information, we will automatically send a corrected registration card. Those unsure if they are affected can check the model number on their product. Any Canadian model will have a model number that ends in C and labels in French and English. If this is discovered, customers can visit evenflo.com/pages/product-registration to share their contact information with Evenflo for potential recalls.

I saw a video a while back of a cpst commenting on one of the cases where it detached, it was a big accident. The base and the seat were not locked together. I have to believe that the investigation is the right thing to do but most likely this is a case of people installing incorrectly.

I love ours, but remember reading a warming, maybe in a carseat group. Plus, I believe it's in the carseat manuel when the carseat is not in use. Don't leave it in unlocked postion. For if in a car accident, seat can detach from the base. I am wondering if this may be the case for any of these 6 accidents. They also added to the line the extended (up to 50 lbs RF) and the slim version. So curious which seats were all involved.

Thread: "Anyone have the evenflo revolve 360 gold? "

I have the slim version, and love it. I don't know how I would be able to jam my almost 2 year old into a regular rear facing seat, especially when he's fighting it. He sits kind of cross legged, or with his legs dangling over the sides - I don't think you have to sit in a dramatic v shape like that girl in the picture. I know it's under investigation, but it hasn't been recalled yet. The seat separates from the base when it's at kind of at a quarter turn. It locks in place when it's forward or rear facing, but not when it's sideways for loading/unloading. The instructions very clearly state, that when your kid isn't in the seat, you need to turn it to a locked position. I never remember to do this, and drive around with it loose all the time (obviously when the baby isn't in it). I don't think it's been confirmed if in the accident in question, the seat separated from the base from a locked position or a loose position. I can totally see it being my fault if that happened to me, because I don't lock the empty seat. Having said that, I can see why some parents don't want to risk it, but I feel comfortable continuing to use it. If it's gets confirmed that it separated from a locked position, especially with a child in it, I would stop using it. I would still replace it with a rotating car seat though.

Thread: "Tell me your car seat recommendation!"

Convertible carseat or infant carseat? The most popular expensive option that's not rotating is the Nuna Rava. Very very easy to install and clean. For budget friendly options I think the Graco extend 2 fit is very popular. Not as easy to set up and what not but not a bad budget option. When it comes to rotating Convertible seats, a lot of people like the Evenflo 360 for its price. Problem with rotating carseats is the mechanism can be finnicky (depending on brand), and the rear facing weight/height limit being lower than most regular convertibles, but not all of them. When it comes to infant carseats it really depends on what stroller your getting, and if it's compatible with certain strollers to be used as a travel system, etc. I think the most popular option when it comes to premium brands is the Nuna Pipa RX. To more budget friendly brands I think Chicco has a good safety rating with the Chicco key fit 35.

Within an inch of the top is usually a limit. I would look at your manual. If you want to keep rear facing I’d suggest looking for a new seat. We have the evenflo revolve 360. Our girl is 40lbs and 43”. The seats rear facing is 50lbs and 48”. Our girl is 5. We will try and max out the limits (whichever one she hits first) before forward facing. Most (all?) convertible seats aren’t going to be simple to switch easily switch between cars. If you have two vehicles, you probably need two car seats. We have the Evenflo 360 Revolve and like it a lot. That said, car seats are big these days, and with my husband being 6’4, we had to buy a new vehicle and had limited options as to what we could fit (now that we’re having a second and need a convertible and infant seat).

It’s likely being investigated for the same reason the Maxi Cosi Coral was: people not installing all of the appropriate pieces. I reciewed the original documents from NHTSA. Yes, it is failing on labeling and instructions, but that DOES NOT MEAN that that's the reason AT LEAST 6 HAVE COME APART DURING CRASHES. DO NOT assume the investigation is only regarding labeling - labeling is the first and easiest thing they can PASS/FAIL. Understanding WHY 6 separated will take longer. I went with the evenflo every stage SensorSafe gold convertible seat. It rearfaces to like 50 lbs/48 inches-so for a long time!! And rear facing is the safest way to ride. Also, I like that it will alert me when baby is in the car seat when I stop the car. If I ignore the alert and walk out of range it will alert me via Bluetooth and also text my husband through the app or anyone else you ask it to. I’m paranoid about her getting left in the car seat on a hot day, so the extra money was totally worth the peace of mind for me. I also can remove the cover and wash it, which is nice, and 2 year old seems to find it comfortable.
