Cubo Ai Plus

💎 Best Premium

The Cubo Ai Plus is a smart baby monitor that offers HD video streaming, crying alerts, and a micromovement sensor to monitor your baby's breathing. It features a unique design that allows for a bird's eye view of the crib and includes built-in white noise options.

Pros (+)

  • Excellent video quality and clarity
  • Crying alerts provide timely notifications
  • Micromovement sensor adds an extra layer of safety

Cons (−)

  • Frequent Wi-Fi connectivity issues reported
  • No dedicated parent unit can be inconvenient
  • Some features may not work consistently during updates

Why parents like it

The HD video quality and the ability to receive alerts for crying are standout features that many parents appreciate. The micromovement sensor provides peace of mind for monitoring their baby's safety.

Common complaints

Several parents report issues with Wi-Fi connectivity, which can be frustrating during critical moments. A number of users also mention the absence of a parent unit as a significant drawback.

Best for

Parents who prioritize video quality and innovative monitoring features in a baby monitor. However, the reliance on Wi-Fi may not suit everyone, especially those who prefer a traditional parent unit.

Bottom line

The Cubo Ai Plus offers impressive features for monitoring your baby, but be prepared for potential connectivity issues that some parents have experienced.

We have the CuboAI and I’m very happy with it. We have the owlet sock not the camera because I’d read, at the time, reviews that it wasn’t as good as the Cubo. I can’t fault the Cubo camera. Great picture even in the dark. You can also add the camera stream to a google hub - which we just put near the tv, so we can side-eye it for the brief brief time we have before going up to bed too because we are exhausted haha. But I’ll just say that the notification on your phone is a birdie tweet and it will begin to drive you slowly insane.

We also have the cubo and man it's great. Gives you a complete birds eye view of the crib. We have it all set up on our devices so can pretty much access it whatever room we are in. I also like the playback feature on the app, as I can just use my finger to drag the little bar to whatever time I want to view and then select the "live" button and it takes me back to the current view. Ugh the notification bell was a pain, especially when he started to roll! Also takes pics for you, I got a pic of me and baby sleeping together and he's holding my finger🥹

I think you should have the playback option. You can check by looking at your camera on the app (horizontal view), click on the screen once and you will see something that looks like a time graph at the bottom, and then press/swipe left and you should be able to select the time within the last 18 hours that you want to review.

This is the most disturbing stuff I’ve read on Reddit yet… smh We have cuboAI. And it’s great but *sometimes* I.e. not consistently, when they are doing an update … it starts flashing and flicking like a camera.. my toddler called me one time to tell me it was happening . I truly think it’s sketchy as hell. When traveling we use vtech for similar security reasons but in considering changing this one too now!

Worth noting that the Cubo AI had just launched a "micromovement" sensor you can put under the mattress which can effectively detect breathing and other small movements that let you know your little one is okay. We're using Snoo as primary bassinet, so Owlet was only monitoring option which would with with the motion. Have the Cubo AI set up above crib in another room for naps etc.

We love our cubo. We actually have 2. 1 for gosh of our kids. On the odd occasion we do lose connection but I find it happens the most when we try and view from our google home. The app itself seems to work much better. I especially like that you can use Picture in Picture or just have the audio running in the background while still using your device and we can see and hear both cameras at the same time.

Thread: "Cubo AI baby monitor opinions"

Tech support for this product is absolute garbage, and with only ONE button on the baby monitor, there is VERY limited troubleshooting they (or you) can do. Save your money and buy another brand if you plan on using a baby monitor for more than a year. We owned and used the CuboAI Plus for just over a year - no major issues, literally never traveled with it, unplugged it, or anything. Literally set it up on Day 1 in the nursery and have not touched it since. We pull up the baby monitor on the app and keep an eye on the baby at night. Last week, we changed absolutely NOTHING but kept getting 'connection errors' and unable to see the video monitor. Unplugged/restarted app, etc. to no avail. Tech support sent us to the published articles on the app, and suggested that unpair / re-attach the monitor to our app. The monitor itself was stuck and would NOT enter set-up mode, no matter what we tried and no matter what they suggested. If you can't enter set-up mode, you cannot do anything at all whatsoever with the CuboAI. Since it's out of warranty period (only ONE year!!) they make you buy another (refurbished) CuboAI monitor for $75-$100 or send it back to China ($45-$100 plus 45 days wait). Absolutely ridiculous. I can attach screenshots of my conversation with tech support if you want. For the monitor features itself - fine but not great. Decent video quality but nothing to write home about. The only feature we used was the occasional nightlight feature. The "white noise/music" feature was useless because it came out of the monitor (right next to the speaker!) which drowns out the sound of the baby crying, thus defeating the purpose. Rollover/face covering alerts were always wrong so we turned them off almost immediately. They spam with you marketing for their overpriced spinoff products, a temperature monitor product (use stickers to tape a plastic thermometer on your baby so you can monitor their temp all night....absolutely effing not) and their sleep sensor pad (to monitor your baby's breathing...gimmicky AF). The only good thing I can say about the product was that it was super easy to set-up - plug in the cord, stick the monitor on the provided stand and click it into place. Honestly, the whole product is incredibly overpriced and gimmicky. The "AI" is pretty much a useless buzzword and it feels like no one on their development team is an actual parent (seriously, look up their temperature monitoring thing, who tf ever thought that was a good idea?!). Save your money. Buy something else. (Or buy my $300 video-camera-shaped brick that I can no longer do anything with. I'm taking any and all offers).

We went with the Cubo AI and Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO. My wife wanted Wi-Fi capabilities and I wanted a fully dedicated monitor. I’m happy with the decision. But if I could do it over again I’d swap the Cubo with a less expensive Wyze monitor + SD card. The Cubo’s rollover and notification features constantly send off false alarms and we just had to turn them off completely.

And we like that we can switch background noise on, so even when we’re not watching the camera we can hear if the baby starts grunting or anything (usually the step before crying lol).

We wound up getting a Cubo AI+ Originally said it was gonna sell for $349 but it's been $100 off ever since they released the "+" model recently so $249 and at Amazon I think you can knock another $50 off for prime right now. I bought it for the features, mainly the face covered detection that doesn't require the baby to wear anything and crying alerts. If you feel guilty about the nanit price, this may be a viable alternative to take a look at.

I bought the Babysense HD S2 and it’s fab, super simple, love it. Then I saw my friend’s CuboAI video of her boy rolling in the night and thought wow I need something for overnight footage (i.e. to watch the replay of what they’ve been up to while I’m asleep) and bought the Motorola VM44. Unfortunately it only records 60seconds of video at a time (and only if my phone is unlocked, with the app open). I eventually just buckled and bought the Cubo and I love it. It’s in my room so I just use it overnight and continue to use the babysense in other rooms. If you don’t want a WiFi model and don’t want long recordings etc I totally recommend the babysense!

That’s what we use and have no complaints! The pic quality is great and and we really rely on the cry alert notifications when we’re not watching the video feed. It’s also pretty cool that we can send a link to far-away family if they wanted to check-up on him as well. They have access to the video but not audio. You can rewind the video feed too if you wanted to go back and look later. The only con for us is the fact that we can’t easily travel with it but we have a backup baby optics monitor for that.

I LOVE my cubo AI. I didn’t realize it had bad reviews. Was super easy to set up & we’ve never had any issues with it. Video (even at night) & audio are both super clear. We can check in on baby any time. It roll-over/face covering alerts (which initially really freaked me out cause I was always worried his face was gunna get covered with my sub-par swaddling lol.) & notes how long baby has been in crib & when he was taken out so I can see how long he was sleeping. I love that I can access the camera footage anywhere & watch the recording of the night. it’s also wall moutable, can be used with a stand or just place on a table if you’re traveling (the camera angle is adjustable for this). It’s also nice that it can be pluged in with a plug or just the USB (really handy for traveling). And of course it just looks really cute! We travel internationally fairly often so easy setup, versatility & travel friendly is important to me. The only annoyance I’ve found was trying to find a specifc time/event in the video playback. I wish i could speed play-back. It was also pretty expensive 😕. But overall, definitely one of the best baby purchases i’ve made 😀

Thread: "Cubo AI baby monitor opinions"

It’s got lots of design issues. One of the most glaring is that you can’t rewind to see the last 3 minutes. Sounds really strange, but true. If something just happened and your baby started crying, you will need to wait 3 minutes before you see what happened. Really long latency for playing sounds, and if you want to schedule sound to turn on or off you’ll need to pay for a subscription. Can’t configure button to turn sound on/off. Can’t control notifications likes you’d expect. Eg, if you enjoy it taking pictures and you enable that feature, there’s no way to stop the notification for it. So the same style notification that tells you if your baby’s face was covered or crying will come up and scare you only to realize it’s telling you about new pictures. I only want baby detected and removed notifications, and I can’t control that either. Must have face covered and rollover alerts as well, which doesn’t work well. So the big issue is software, but the cubo ai team is either unwilling or unable to address these issues.

Have the Cubo and really rate it, we just got a second as we’re expecting our next baby. Picture quality is incredible - I can see my child’s eyelashes moving to figure out if he’s awake or not when he’s lying on his side. Super handy that it plays white noise if you’re wanting to use that, the temperature/humidity function has always been really handy too. The playback function is really good if you want to flick back through to see something. I enjoy having it on my phone as opposed to having a separate screen I need to carry around, and nice to be able to check in if you’re away from home/baby. The only thing that bugs me is it’s a bit of a faff to set up / connect to the internet if you want to take it anywhere with you - both when you get to where you’re going and when you get back home. It doesn’t auto connect / remember password for WiFi so can just be a bit of a fiddle. You also need 5GHz WiFi for it to work, which is pretty standard these days but we’ve been caught out a couple of times when travelling and the internet hasn’t been good enough to use it.

Cubo’s sleep analytics unfortunately don’t work perfectly with the Snoo – due to the Snoo’s rocking movement, the Cubo thinks baby is moving. But honestly this doesn’t bother me that much, the Cubo’s crying alerts work really well for us, and after all bubs will only be in the Snoo for around six months before we move him into a non-moving cot, so I expect the sleep analytics will become much more useful then. Also worth mentioning that the Snoo app records sleep data as well, so if I want to track nap times, night wakes, etc, I can do it through the Snoo app for now.
