When I say I was OBSESSED with bassinet research, I ended up with the bugaboo stardust. Built like a tank, certified bassinet safe sleep in Canada (last I checked in 2023), set up and packing takes 1 min, portable and can be converted into a small playpen. Because it’s a convertible, works as a travel crib as well. My 97% height baby slept in it till 5mo. Transferred her to crib but she still sleeps in it as a travel crib at 9mo. To top it off, was very c section friendly.

We went with the Bugaboo Stardust. Our LO slept in it comfortably bedside until 4 months when we moved her to her crib, and we’re still using it as a travel crib at 23 months old. I didn’t want something that would last 2-3 months (like the Halo) and this worked well for us. Doubles as a smaller footprint pack n play as well. Highly recommend.

I would suggest a pack n play with a bassinet mode. You will get use out of it much past the bassinet stage (first few months). We used the bugaboo stardust and still love it. It’s so compact and stores away so easily. The bassinet mode is great because it’s bigger than a regular bassinet (which we tried but my babe would roll into the sides and wake up). We still use it travelling and camping with my 20 month old and plan on using it as a bassinet again in the spring with #2.
Thread: "Convertible Crib vs. Bassinet vs Pack n' play?"
We have been using the Bugaboo Stardust with our 4.5 month old since day 1, and we love it! It’s smaller than a regular pack and play so fits well in our bedroom and can easily be moved around the house if necessary. But it’s also bigger than your average bassinet so we’ll get a lot of use out of it. Once she has outgrown the newborn insert, it can still be used as a travel crib. It was on the pricier side, but I was ok with that because I know we’ll get a lot of use out of it. I did a tonne of research and settled on this one based on our lifestyle. Everyone has their own opinions about these things, so I’d recommend picking one based on your sleeping plans!

If I were to do it all over again, I'd buy this for the travel crib benefits👆

I also highly recommend the Bugaboo Stardust if it fits your lifestyle. We used the bassinet level until almost 6 months when we transitioned to his crib and now use it as a travel crib.

I have no experience with the bassinet; but what I will say is a play yard (we have the bugaboo stardust) takes up SO much more space than we thought it would. I meant it for a secondary space dj sleep and there’s no way in our small living room. Its great for travel, but a big pain otherwise

Second the bugaboo stardust. Our LO is 7 weeks and we’ve been really happy with it. Lots of space for him to move around and grow into. I had a C-section and didn’t find it too low to bend down to either. Would not recommend trying to use the uppababy bassinet if that’s the stroller you’re getting. Our LO is an active sleeper and the bassinet is small so he often wakes himself up from touching the sides.

We have a crib and bassinet in the nursery where I’m sleeping. Baby sleeps in the crib and doesn’t use the bassinet - it has become a blanket and burp cloth basket lol. We also have a bugaboo stardust playpen in our livingroom which we use all of the time for daytime naps and diaper changes.

Bugaboo stardust for both kids. It has a zip in bassinet and it’s an excellent pack and play and reasonable sleep space for an infant. Love it so much we repurchased it when Air Canada wrecked it.

We had a halo bassinest and our baby didn't like it at all. We switched to using the bassinet level of her pack and play (bugaboo stardust) and she was so much more comfortable and had so much more room to sleep. She was very happy in there until we moved her into her crib at 6 months.
