Thread: "Nanit Camera Hacked"
yup. every single thread about shopping for baby cams, someone is trying to claim how this or that wifi based brand is unhackable due to X Y or Z reason, yet it keeps happening. It's just way safer to choose a camera that uses good ol' fashioned radio frequency. We have the Baby Sense and love it.
Thread: "Has anyone ever had their baby’s monitor hacked??"
We have liked our Babysense for this reason. Anything that needs Wifi was off our list. Also, if they route through your phone they drain your battery.
Thread: "Why would a pulse oximeter/apnea monitor NOT prevent SIDS?"
It’s a liability issue/legal claim limitation. And they can’t claim to prevent SIDS because by definition SIDS is unexplainable. I used a sensor. I found it comforting. I liked the Babysense monitor because it goes under the mattress/pad instead of on the baby. We only had a false alarm when she was much older and moved to the very corner of the crib, but zero false alarms for the first 8 months.
Thread: "Our owlet monitor was just hacked."
This why we specifically got one that does not use WiFi. I don’t trust anything. No it isn’t as fancy but it does the job without the worry of this happening. It’s the Babysense and so far pretty happy with it. We have to breathing pad sensor and the video monitor with a second camera in our living room to keep an extra eye on her. EDIT- I used the wrong term in WiFi I was meaning any video using the internet whether it be wired or wireless. Ours in an in house system that is NOT connected to the internet at all. I am sure it could still be hacked but they would need to be on our property as the signal doesn’t go much past our walls and yard.
Thread: "Best Non-Wifi Baby Monitor"
We have a Babysense monitor because I didn't want it to need my phone or wifi either. It came with two cameras and we got a third. I will say the split screen is divided between cameras 1&2 and cameras 3&4. You can't split screen between say cameras 2&3 or 1&4. But you can go from split 1/2 to split 3/4 very easy. I don't know if it's the BEST but my husband did the research and he's into tech as well as into cyber security, so I'm pretty confident in his choice.
Thread: "Nanit Camera Hacked"
Babysense is non-wifi. We love ours.
Thread: "Nanit Camera Hacked"
Second Baby Sense. Not everything should be wifi all the time.
Thread: "Best baby monitor suggestions?? New parent seeking advice."
We’ve got a babysense. No app. We have 2 cameras (one downstairs and one upstairs) and one monitor. The cameras need to be plugged in but I’m finding them quite good, and the monitor has a good range around the house. You can hear the baby and you can also talk to them. Nice but not needed functions are music or white noise and it also gives you the temp of the room.
Thread: "Please be careful with WiFi baby monitors"
There's a lot of people that scan the Internet for accessible and exploitable cameras. Its somewhat of a hobby for hackers. There's also a number of sites that scan and index accessible devices (not just cameras). Why? I suppose there's different reasons, things from people enjoying the challenge, feelings of power, research and obviously and sadly the more nefarious and even perverse reasons that you might expect. Any device connected to the Internet is susceptible to being hacked, but if things are regularly maintained by the service provider and updated by the users, your risk is low. However, even then, it's not risk free. Whether you want to take that risk depends on what's at stake. Personally, my baby's privacy isn't worth taking that risk, which is why I opted for a non-wifi monitor like babysense. Its possible it may also be vulnerable to a local attack, but the risk is massively reduced and at least it can't be attacked from the Internet.
Thread: "Why would a pulse oximeter/apnea monitor NOT prevent SIDS?"
We have a Babysense and when my baby was only a few months old it went off. We ran to him and it was hard to wake him up. Then hours later it went off again. Again it was hard to wake him up. We immediately went to the doctor as soon as the office was open and they noticed his breathing was a little off. She told us to go to the hospital if the alarm went off again. What do you know a day later we all were sick and the baby was coughing a lot. We all tested positive for Covid. He recovered just fine and the alarm didn't go off again and he's now a year old and we're still using it.
Thread: "baby monitor for twins with split screen (NO SUBSCRIPTIONS!)"
I love our babysense monitor! It's amazing!
Thread: "Nanit Camera Hacked"
Same, no WiFi, we use BabySense and love it
Thread: "Non wifi baby monitors"
We got the Babysense 5.5" with two cameras. It's been great, and would recommend two camera's as we nearly got 1 camera but having 2 has been very useful. Has had more range than needed, good sound and features. Only issue is the temp sensor on 1 cam has stopped working, need to try and reset it.
Thread: "Baby Monitor/Cam Suggestions"
We did a combo of an offline cam and a Wyze Pan v3. The offline one is the Babysense 5.5" 1080p cam and so far so good, cannot complain whatsoever with it. The Wyze Pan V3 is honestly fantastic but if you're worried about footage being stored on servers, you're honestly gonna have to strictly go with offline cams that do not connect with the internet.
Thread: "Baby Monitor Recommendations?"
I absolutely love my babysense monitor. The resolution is great and we got it with two cameras so when baby number two comes we will have one screen to watch them both.
Thread: "Best baby monitor suggestions?? New parent seeking advice."
We have babysense too and it's been rock solid. No fuss, everything works as expected. Also the temperature sensor is nice. It woke us up one time because our HVAC went haywire and brought the nursery down to like 60 degrees (F). We wouldn't have known otherwise.
Thread: "Overwhelmed with the search for the right baby monitor (Raditation, Security and sensor pad)"
The amount of radiation put out by a device like a baby monitor is very minimal. I would not be too concerned about this particular point. More info here: https://www.epa.gov/radtown/non-ionizing-radiation-wireless-technology My husband and I shared your concerns about hacking and chose a basic video/audio monitor that works over Bluetooth instead of WiFi. The one we got was called the BabySense. As another commenter pointed out, these types of breathing devices are not recommended by the AAP. Some parents find that they decrease anxiety and some find that they increase it.
Thread: "Baby monitor - which one did you go for?"
https://babysensemonitors.co.uk/products/hd-split-screen-video-baby-monitor-1-camera-hd-s2 I bought this one and it is brilliant. The picture quality is like a phone camera, playback/ live speed has no lag, the sound is really good - you can set the volume, it has an inbuilt temperature and white noise sounds.
Thread: "Best baby monitor with night vision?"
We just got the baby sense max view, which doesn't work on WiFi. It doesn't have an app but it can pair up to 4 cameras so you can either look at different rooms or just the one room. It can also pan and the video quality is amazing. I got rid of a VTech one which just was a bit rubbish.
Thread: "WiFi baby monitor hacking"
We specifically chose a Baby Sense monitor for this exact reason. It has FHSS technology which is highly highly highly unlikely to be hacked. Does not operate on wifi.
Thread: "Dual Baby Monitor"
Babysense! Split screen with the audio going back and forth every 15 seconds. Also has vox mode so you don’t hear it all night- only if someone makes noise
Thread: "Seeking Baby Monitor Recommendations"
We used the babysense monitors and worked well
Thread: "Please be careful with WiFi baby monitors"
We have the babysense one. After trying a few others, we found this one had the best picture quality, battery life and overall features we want: https://a.co/d/hIA2RMY
Thread: "Babysense MaxView Monitor (or others) — thoughts?"
For Babysense, yes the night light can be turned totally off. It comes with the charger, it’s USB-C. The sound is either turned on or off. It’s not activated by cries or other noises.
Thread: "Can anyone recommend a baby monitor?"
Came here to say the exact same thing! We have baby sense with the two monitors and really love if!! We drilled screws into the wall and there is a slot that the monitors stay into for wall mounting and it works fantastic for our twins!
Thread: "Baby monitor - which one did you go for?"
We went with Babysense second time around. Our original one (can’t remember brand) advertised a second camera then when we needed one they’d discontinued it! Babysense HDallow multiple cameras, good quality and sound.
Thread: "Owlet vs Nanit"
Basic baby monitors are nice because they are simple and have their own screen. Grandparents or whoever can take a shift without any hassle. I like tech, I have all the smart home gadgets, I did not do this for the baby monitor and have no regrets. The dual camera Baby Sense works perfect and is just simple to use for anyone.
Thread: "My baby monitor got a call?"
If you're looking for any recommendations, we use a babysense monitor. It uses radio signals instead of wifi. Only ever had bother when we stayed at a house with thick stone walls.
Thread: "Best baby monitor suggestions?? New parent seeking advice."
We have the babysense. No WiFi, two cameras (that can be viewed at the same time if you have more than one baby). It has never disconnected on me once. Has good audio and a good clear picture, even at night
Thread: "First time dad, looking to get the first baby monitor. Any tips or warning I should know beforehand?"
Two of my dad friends liked the owlet with its sleep sock thing which measures heart rate and oxygen level. I didn’t have the sock but I hated the monitor itself. Theoretically I thought it was great since it was a phone app so I could view it from anywhere but it’s Wi-Fi connectivity and video quality was terrible regardless of where I was in my house. Now we use a babysense monitor and it’s good for the value IMO. Good battery life, video quality, and the cameras have a light feature great for when needing to go out the pacifier back in at 2 am.
Thread: "Baby Monitor Recommendations with 2 Cameras?"
We’re got a babysense one and it’s great. Difficult to give a full review on stuff like this since we’ve only ever used this monitor so can’t compare it to others but it does what we need it to. The screen quality is great, as is the battery life. We keep it plugged in overnight for peace of mind but I’m certain it would last overnight (on auto screen mode) no issue. It can be on auto so the screen goes blank when it’s quiet and starts again when there’s noise. There’s a few sensitivity options, so works well for us overnight now bub is in his own room. There’s other features (white noise/lullabies and lights built in) but we’ve not used them really. There’s an option to add multiple monitors which is one of the reasons we picked the babysense. We only have one monitor atm but it feels like a great future proofing option and sounds like it would suit you.
Thread: "Baby monitor that can connect with 2 or more cameras and have split screen for monitor?"
Babysense! I had it for my twins as split screen and now have 3 monitors attached since I had my third baby. Love it, not wifi
Thread: "Baby Monitor Recommendations?"
We upgraded to this one and it's amazing. And now that number 2 is on the way, it's one less thing on the list to get.
Thread: "Best Baby Monitor: What Do Parents Recommend?"
Agreed! It also came with two cameras so we mounted one and use the other to travel with. It also has a split screen which was important cause we knew we wanted more kids (or can be used in another room!)
Thread: "Baby Monitors - To spend or not to spend. "
[Babysense Monitor](https://a.co/d/g65vV3u) We have used this one with our two kids. Really nice to have two cameras on at the same time. Looks like it’s 30 dollars off right now too with a coupon.
Thread: "Best baby monitor suggestions?? New parent seeking advice."
I have a baby sense. We had an issue with it saying a camera disconnected when it was not and video stuttering or lagging. Not great. Our condo is small and one level, so I'm not sure what the issue was.
Thread: "Man Talking To My Daughter Through Owlet Camera"
I tried the hello baby first and it was okay but they customer service was horrible when my monitor quit working. I’ve had my baby sense past the warranty it came with and when I called about my monitor not charging they overnighted me a new one, no questions asked. Quality is decent and it has a night light option
Thread: "Man Talking To My Daughter Through Owlet Camera"
Which one do you have? I was looking for non wifi cameras but there’s so many it’s overwhelming
Thread: "Baby Monitor(s) - BabySense regret?"
We’ve had the babysense for almost 2 years now. Really happy with it and would buy again but you said regrets. So my list of issues! The sound it plays (the sounds itself and when you use the mic) sound stuttery and wasn’t usable for us atleast. When my boys were younger we got a special white noise machine instead. I’d wish there was a way to turn the camera on without the physical button. Just to keep an eye on the rooms temperature without having to going there. My unit sometimes loses connection to the cameras. Like once a month if that so rarely but sometimes. A simple turn on and off fixes that but it’s a bit of a pain when it wakes you in the middle of the night. The main unit is not waterproof! My sleep deprived brain put the unit near the sink while washing their bottles and of course it fell in. It can’t handle that haha. Other than those I’m so happy with it. The setup was easy, we can take them everywhere and it works without hassle. Adding cameras (and a new main unit haha) is really really easy. Cameras themselves have been dropped a few times and are sturdy!
Thread: "Help with choosing a Baby Monitor/ Camera, advice and regrets"
I bought the Babysense HD S2 and it’s fab, super simple, love it. Then I saw my friend’s CuboAI video of her boy rolling in the night and thought wow I need something for overnight footage (i.e. to watch the replay of what they’ve been up to while I’m asleep) and bought the Motorola VM44. Unfortunately it only records 60seconds of video at a time (and only if my phone is unlocked, with the app open). I eventually just buckled and bought the Cubo and I love it. It’s in my room so I just use it overnight and continue to use the babysense in other rooms. If you don’t want a WiFi model and don’t want long recordings etc I totally recommend the babysense!
Thread: "Seeking Baby Monitor Recommendations"
Commenting to say ditto! Did a lot of research beforehand and very happy we chose the babysense one.
Thread: "Owlet Dream Sock, thumbs up or thumbs down?"
Try the Baby sense bed alarm monitor. It monitors abdominal breathing and it is non-contact; it goes under then mattress. You can put him down and have him roll however he wants and it monitors for breathing movement. I love mine

[Babysense 5.5” 1080p Full HD Split-Screen Baby Monitor](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRYDJZVT) Has worked well. We leave one camera mounted and use the other one when we travel
Thread: "Which Baby Monitor??!!"
Oh lol my bad thought you were being sarcastic, but all baby monitors can be hacked, it has to be encrypted for safety, I was doing some research and all babysense monitors are on a encrypted network with no wifi usage, and tbh I’m not sure how to link it here as everytime I try to share a post on Reddit it doesn’t let me copy link, but I think if you search “tech monitor hacked Reddit” on google it should show you
Thread: "I've been tasked to find the best baby monitor. What are you all thinking?"
We just got the babysense cameras off Amazon. They have a dedicated monitor so no worrying about other people watching. The one we got has two cameras and the monitor can connect between four at once. Great clarity and the microphone works good. One of our cameras thermometer doesn’t read properly but the other one does so I can’t say for all of their cameras quality www.amazon.com/dp/B07XQ6YM5V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_CT4ZP6BZ2DS4ND61J3WA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Thread: "Best no BS baby monitor?"
We got a Babysense HD monitor with video but no WiFi, and so far (baby isn’t here yet) I like it a lot! It’s got some nightlight functions, and you can talk to your kid through it, but otherwise no crazy bells and whistles.
Thread: "Babysense MaxView Monitor (or others) — thoughts?"
Curious how you’re liking the maxview. I almost bought it but read that the battery doesn’t always last as long as expected. Have you run into that? We ended up with the ergopouch monitor instead and it’s been solid for us, especially overnight. The battery goes a long time between charges, the range is strong enough that I can move all around the house without losing signal. It also shows the room temperature, and the neat part is it gives little suggestions on how to dress baby depending on how warm or cool it is.
Thread: "Lads... baby monitors, please."
We have the Babysense with two cameras/screens. It’s great. Video quality is good and screen is big and bright. Previously had the DXR8 but the Babysense is definitely an upgrade.
Thread: "Baby monitor for twins?"
I totally agree on the babysense monitor. That clock has been the bane of my existence for the last two years though 🤦♀️. I bought a third camera and we use it when we travel since it’s just such an easy to use monitor.
Thread: "Pros vs cons of wifi baby monitor?"
We have a non WiFi monitor (babysense) and use two cameras - one in room and one in play area. Can also do split screen which came in handy when my nephew was visiting and baby was sleeping - could watch him play in the other room and her nap. Alternatively we also use a google nest camera at the grandparents in lieu of another monitor. I don’t love it as the WiFi connections is super spotty but that isn’t used frequently and we’re always there when she is there too.
