Babyletto Yuzu

The Babyletto Yuzu is an 8-in-1 convertible crib designed to grow with your child, transitioning from a crib to a toddler bed and beyond. It features eco-friendly materials and includes various mattress pads for different stages.

Pros (+)

  • Eco-friendly materials appeal to environmentally conscious parents
  • Versatile 8-in-1 design grows with your child
  • Includes necessary pieces for conversion

Cons (−)

  • High price point, especially for a crib
  • Requires multiple mattress sizes for different stages
  • Complexity in setup with various mattress pads

Why parents like it

Parents praise the eco-friendly materials and the ability to convert the crib into different bed sizes. The included pieces for conversion make it a practical choice for long-term use.

Common complaints

A common concern is the high price, especially since parents need to buy multiple mattresses separately. Additionally, some parents mention the complexity of having different mattress sizes for each conversion stage.

Best for

Parents seeking a long-lasting crib that adapts through multiple stages. Be prepared for the extra expense of purchasing multiple mattresses.

Bottom line

The Babyletto Yuzu is a versatile crib that appeals to eco-conscious parents, but the additional costs for mattresses may be a dealbreaker for some.

Before you count on wheeling it from room to room, measure your door frames! Our crib doesn't fit through the door frame when it's assembled.

Had a crib, crib transfers were killing me after 7 months when we dropped the mattress level, she kept waking up, we now use the crib mattress as a floor bed for her. Don’t spend a lot on a crib.

I originally wanted the wood crib from ikea for my first kid, but it was sold out when we needed it so I ended up getting a way more expensive Babyletto one. With my second, the ikea one was available so I went that route for her. After using both cribs for over 3 years (at least) each, I can genuinely say that there is no major difference that matters to me. I would absolutely get the ikea crib again. The only real difference was that the Babyletto one came with all of the things needed to turn it into a toddler bed whereas the ikea one, you’d need to buy something to use while they learn how to sleep in a more open space. Save your money and go the ikea route for this one!

Got an ikea crib so I went the inexpensive route, but I had a babyletto crib on my mind. So happy with my decision. The crib looks absolutely fine and she’s been using it since 4 mo or so (16 mo now) and we’ve had no issues with it at all. My MIL offered to pay for the mattress, so we went with a pricier mattress than crib!

Don't bother with anything that converts to an adult sized bed if that's swaying you. My kid chewed the crib so bad. It looks hideous and I would never use it as real furniture now, even for an older kid. It's chewed to the point of splintering and we're debating if we should even use it for Baby #2. I wish we'd gone Ikea in the first place.

Do you really need a bassinet and midi crib sizes? Think about all the extra bed sheets and mattress protectors you're going to end up buying to accommodate all those stages. That's what discouraged me from getting the yuzu 8-in-1, even though I really like the looks of it. I have room in my bedroom for a full size crib, so we ended up choosing a full size crib that converts into toddler bed and then double bed. If you don't have that space, I'd consider a mini crib with similar functionalities. That being said, certain materials (specially softer wood) can get chewed up by toddlers. So in that sense I'd consider how important it is to really have a convertible crib vs just getting the cheapest one you are comfortable with and replacing it with a floor bed when the baby is ready. Those are all considerations I had when I made my choice. I ended up choosing a Namesake metal crib (Winston). It won't get chewed up, it'll look decent as a full size bed for the long term and it is green guard gold certified. I was very close to just picking a cheap crib from Walmart though. The green guard gold certified is what motivated me to buy something more expensive.

You don't need to buy something necessarily for the IKEA crib. We converted and didn't have anything. My toddler fell out a few times then figured it out. It was such a small fall it wasn't a worry at all.

I have the yuzu. If you just want it for the bassinet, I would suggest skipping this product as the value comes with using the different stages. Our baby only stayed in the bassinet until about 8 weeks when we stopped swaddling; with the startle reflex his arms hit the wooden sides and I thought it was waking him up. That said I loved that it is wooden. It felt more sturdy than mesh/plastic bassinets (i was concerned about our dog getting curious and knocking into it). It was perfect height for recovering from a c-section, and I loved the wheels for going from bedside to nursery as i was recovering. The wheels do feel like cheap plastic but we haven't actually had problems with them. Baby is 6 months now and still fitting well in the midi crib. I like having him in our bedroom longer. The midi and full crib is pretty low to the ground so one con is it might be harder to transfer baby in and out once we have to lower the mattress height when he starts pulling up to sit/stand. For storage, the biggest piece is the metal frame for the regular crib. We just put it in a closet with the other wooden pieces stacked against it.The box it comes in is massive - we moved the pieces in and never even brought the box farther than our garage. This was a great purchase for us because we will use all stages and have the space to store the pieces. We plan only one child so he'll use the toddler bed until he outgrows it and we'll only have one product to get rid of at the end.

Thread: "Convertible cribs worth it?"

We have a babyletto Yuzu which comes with the bassinet size mattress pad and the midi size mattress pad. We bought a standard size crib mattress around 7 months and I believe this would also be used for the toddler bed conversion. Do I think it was worth it? No because we've gone through all the stages but we ended up cosleeping after a month and a half

No, it comes with the bassinet and midi size mattresses so you just need the full size

Do you also need to get 3 different size mattresses? This crib is already $900 and that doesn't include getting a mattress, sheets, and mattress protectors in the 3 different sizes.

Thread: "Where did you get your crib?"

I got the yuzu crib from babyletto! It was really important to me to have an eco-friendly crib that was green guard certified so baby wouldn’t be breathing or touching any harmful chemicals or anything like that.

Babies (should) sleep in your room for ~6 months. Will you want the Yuzu in your room? We have a crib in the nursery and a bassinet in our room. We use both, some people don’t. For me I wouldn’t want to have to move the yuzu when we attempt to have the baby sleep in her own room at night for the first time. If it’s not a successful transition it would suck to have to move the crib back and forth.

A little late but came here to say that I have the Babyletto Yuzu and I love it. I will say that for some reason I didn’t notice that the bassinet says 0-3m on their website and our 2mo is definitely going to need to switch to the midi when we take him out of the swaddle because his hands reach the side bars and wake him up. I probably wouldn’t have gotten it if I had seen that but our bedroom is big enough to fit the midi so it’s not a big deal. Just something to keep in mind. Having said that, the crib is great quality. I have two stories so I don’t use the wheels a ton but they are nice to have and I’m overall very happy with it!

I have the yuzu and love it. I got it in dark walnut. As people say...it doesn't fit through door frames once you hit the midi size...but it fits through with space to spare in the bassinet size. That was perfect for me because I could bring it out in our main living space during the day to keep a better eye on him when he was new and itty bitty! The Midi size is great. We have a smaller bedroom, so it fits nicely next to my side of the bed. Very good quality wood. Mine isn't chewing on anything....yet. He's 6 months and still fits nicely into the midi size. (Play yard sheets fit on the midi size mattress)
