Pros (+)
- Stylish design that complements modern nurseries
- Convertible to twin bed for long-term use
- Compact size ideal for small spaces
Cons (−)
- Lower weight limit may not suit all toddlers
- Assembly instructions could be clearer
- Some parents find it pricier than alternatives
Why parents like it
The modern design fits well in various nursery styles, making it a favorite among aesthetic-conscious parents. Its ability to convert from a crib to a twin bed is seen as a practical investment for growing families.
Common complaints
Some parents mention that the weight limit for the crib is lower than expected, which may limit its use as toddlers grow. A few also wish for more robust assembly instructions to simplify setup.
Parents looking for a stylish crib that grows with their child from infancy to toddlerhood. The tradeoff is that it may not accommodate larger toddlers comfortably.
The Babyletto Gelato is a chic choice for parents wanting a convertible crib, though some may find the weight limit restrictive.

Check out DaVinci brand, they also have solid wood cribs (pine), same as the Babyletto brand but significantly less expensive (and I *think* both companies are under the same umbrella). Example: the DaVinci Birdie crib is *very* similar to the Babyletto Gelato with the exception of the feet color. Same specs Australia pine, non toxic paint, etc, but less than half the price.
Thread: "Crib vs mini crib"
I have a 90% height boy and he stayed in his mini crib until about 20 months. We went straight to a twin bed from that. We started with the mattress on the ground for a couple of weeks then set up the twin frame (we had a convertible mini crib to twin frame- Babyletto gelato). You could also do a pack and play for your room. They are about the same size as a mini crib but a little more multiuse
Thread: "Why do people spend $500+ on baby cribs?"
I do think buying a crib is that big baby purchase. I have a babyletto gelato that I bought over four years ago on sale for what I remember being around $300. This is certainly a lot of money but I felt like it was a balance of style and function. My kid slept in it for three years (briefly as a toddler bed) and now it will sleep baby #2 so I absolutely think it was worth it. But if I were wanting to save, the Ikea crib is definitely still style and function and value. I think both are valid. Like in all things, if people want to go bananas with their spending, there's always going to be products made for them.
Thread: "Solid wood crib/nursery set recommendation request"
I feel like this could be an impossible task, because a lot of furniture isn’t solid wood anymore. We struggled with this when looking for other furniture for our home. We wound up getting the babyletto gelato in natural wood, but the dresser is too small (and expensive) so we are getting the IKEA hemnes in white. I’ve seen pics of them together and they complement each other well.

Babyletto gelato (walnut) and used on Facebook marketplace. We got a really good deal! Check there or craigslist!
