Thread: "Crib: splurge or save?"
in my opinion it is a save item even with multiple kids. You can obviously splurge on a nice crib if you care more about aesthetics (the babyletto is so pretty, and i'm sure your pottery barn one will also be gorgeous), but in terms of utility, I think a cheaper crib does the job just as well. Moreover, I don't know anyone personally who has used a convertible crib beyond toddler bed... Ultimately its about priorities and everyone has different priorities. I chose not to splurge on crib, but did splurge on other items such as stroller.
Thread: "Where did you get your crib?"
We got ours from Babyletto. It was pricier but it can convert to a toddler bed and then a full size bed so it was worth the investment for us. They had great reviews and awesome customer service - another plus. Also they are green guard certified if that matters to you.
Thread: "Buying baby stuff - what should I prioritize in terms of ‘nontoxic’?"
Greenguard gold certifications are great but not all companies want to pay for that process. IKEA has really great standards for low toxic products but doesn’t pay for those certifications. Personally I find it easier to shop by brands than researching items first and then looking to see if it has their certifications. Brands I personally used (also nearly all were purchased secondhand): - [Babyletto](https://babyletto.com/collections/greenguard-gold-certified-products) - this link filters all their greenguard products. I have a crib and glider from them - ikea - my dresser is from ikea and I use a changing table topper with it - Newton (I used their bedside bassinet and their crib mattress) - uppababy car seat and stroller (I loooove my Cruz stroller) - if you have to send your baby to daycare, many don’t accept glass bottles. I personally use these [bottles by quark](https://quarkbaby.com/products/buubibottle-bundle-purple) which has excellent safety ratings. For diapers I just opt for fragrance free/ skin friendly . You can have your eyes set on the most green diapers and then your baby may not fit them at all, or the diapers just suck (I’m looking at you, Honest diaper). My baby is currently in Pampers Pure and Huggies Skin Essentials. I loved Coterie but it is very expensive. Diapers is one area where you have to pick your battles IMO. One thing to watch out for in products is fragrances. A lot of bath wash for babies contains unnecessary fragrances, which have been linked to hormone disruptions. I hate thinking about which fragrances may or may not impact hormones so I make it easy and go fragrance free on everything. Same with laundry detergents. No need to buy fancy baby laundry detergents, don’t stress about finding the “perfect” one, just use fragrance free whatever you can find. I also made simple rules when it comes to toys and shared this with family: no plastic that baby would put in their mouth, no Amazon “alphabet”brands, no battery powered toys. Anything that broke those rules would be returned or donated. (My family is pretty granola so this wasn’t an issue). Silicone is fine. I may not be able to eliminate all plastic but it has really made it easier to rule out things like rattles, teething rings, etc. and toys from suspicious sources. When it comes to clothing, *personally* I did not stress over whether or not it was organic or how much cotton it contained (but I naturally seemed to avoid heavily polyester clothes). Everything was washed 3 times before baby wore it for the first time because that’s just what made me comfortable. Many of it was secondhand. Absolutely no fast fashion brands though (Zara, SHEIN, H&M, etc). I have a lot of clothes from a local boutique, lots of carters, some old navy. Lots of secondhand Hanna Anderson.
Thread: "Crib: splurge or save?"
We splurged on a Babyletto and our daughter never once slept in it 🤦🏼♀️ I’m hoping our newborn will actually sleep in the crib when he outgrows the bassinet. If we could do it over I’d get a budget crib but still probably get the nice mattress that’s made without harmful chemicals and stuff.
Thread: "Nontoxic Crib? Babyletto?"
I don't know, my 10 month daughter wakes up and is chewing the crib before she's chirping to be let out. I think some babies are just chewers.
Thread: "babyletto crib?"
I have a babyletto and it didn’t smell at all when I unboxed it. I have their greenguard mattress as well, no issue.

Thread: "Nontoxic Crib? Babyletto?"
The problem with buying a crib someone has made is that you wont have proof it meets the regulatory standards for safety. And at the end of the day, there's a definite risk from that, vs a theoretical risk of going with something like a babyletto crib.
Thread: "Crib recommendation?"
I really wanted a fancy one so I got the Babyletto one. However, my parents have the white ikea one and honestly it’s exactly the same. I wish I didn’t spend the money on a Babyletto one. The only difference in cribs I noticed is the style but not functionality or comfort. The ikea mattress is not the best from what I hear though. I got one from Sealy I think
Thread: "Does Babyletto cribs ever go on sale?"
We got our Babyletto crib on Facebook Marketplace for super cheap, like $150. It was in great condition, came with the toddler bed conversion piece, and all we had to do was give it a good wash and sanitize after we brought it home. We were lucky enough to find a matching changing table a few weeks later at a similar discount. Don't write off going for pre-owned high quality furniture!
Thread: "Nontoxic Crib? Babyletto?"
We live in a very old house, so our doctor recommend a toxin screen for lead in my daughter's blood. Baby has slept in the Gelato mini for 10 months now, and she's a chewer. No lead in her blood. So at least your baby is probably safe from the worst.
Thread: "Choosing between DaVinci and Babyletto Hudson cribs!"
We have the baby letto with the newton mattress and mattress topper and love it! Baby is only 7 months but is sitting up and pulling herself up so we had to drop it down a few notches already. It’s totally fine but the baby just doesn’t love sleep generally lol!
Thread: "Does Babyletto cribs ever go on sale?"
We bought our babyletto crib on Amazon with the 15% off registry completion discount
Thread: "Babyletto crib worth it? "
They will both get nibbled on when those teeth come in. ;). I had a Babyletto with my first, but also had a Da Vinci mini crib in my room before I graduated him to his Babyletto in his own room. The Da Vinci had wiggly legs, and according to reviews I wasn’t the only one with that issue. The Babyletto was definitely constructed more solidly. The toddler bed was included in the price, which I appreciated, some cribs the toddler attachment is purchased separately. But yeah, all cribs are going to have to pass the same safety checks. Go with what your budget allows and what makes you happy!
Thread: "Why do people spend $500+ on baby cribs?"
Our Babyletto crib is now a preschooler bed and will get passed along to baby brother, eventually. I liked its aesthetics and how easy it was to adjust. The green guard certification was a plus for me as well. There were less expensive cribs, but I didn't really like them.
Thread: "Any suggestions for cribs for small spaces?"
I had purchased the babyletto yuzu crib which transforms from bassinet to midi to full size crib. The mattresses for bassinet and midi were included. So far baby sleeps well in it (5 months) since birth!
Thread: "Mini crib?"
I haven't had my baby yet but I'm in a similar position living in a 1 br. I got the babyletto oragami crib off of marketplace and it's a perfect size. Plus it folds up for easier storage. Hoping I can get a similar year or more out of it. We'll see. Curious to hear what others have to say who've used them.
Thread: "Anyone ever buy from Wayfair?"
Definitely varies by product. I personally avoid buying anything from them that doesn’t have reviews and photos. I’ve purchased a few smaller things from them over the years, items that I don’t otherwise want to pay a ton for including a night stand and counter stools. Both are useable and look fine, but the quality wouldn’t meet my expectations for larger furniture pieces. We did buy our Babyletto kiwi rocker glider from Wayfair because it was sold out in the color we wanted from other retailers.
Thread: "I see many recommendation for IKEA cribs. As someone who has poor experience with IKEA quality, should I reconsider? Is the crib better than standard IKEA quality?"
I agree with the comments about Ikea's differing lines really varying in quality. I am planning to get an Ikea Hemnes dresser for our nursery (if it comes back in stock soon) because it's solid wood and I know people who have it and it's held up well. I personally chose to buy a Babyletto crib because it's Greenguard certified and that's important to me, but I read that Ikea is actually pretty good on VOCs and nontoxic paints etc because they sell the same furniture in the US as they do in countries like Germany that have much tighter regulations. So I'd definitely feel better getting Ikea stuff than most other US retailers for that reason.
Thread: "babyletto crib?"
I’ve had my babyletto crib for 8 years and it’s been a solid piece of furniture through 3 babies and then toddlers. Oh, AND 3 moves.
Thread: "Crib safety-non toxic?"
We decided to go extra safe with the crib and got a Babyletto and their mattress. We love it.
Thread: "Why do people spend $500+ on baby cribs?"
Same but it's been used for 6 years (two kids back to back) straight and I still love it. So worth the splurge.
Thread: "Babyletto Cribs"
I got one of their cribs. It was like an 8 in 1 or something. I love all the different configurations I can do with it but I have to say I'm super disappointed in the quality. For the price the wood is just pressed wood with laminate. Be prepared for scratches and do yourself a favor and get crib covers for the top when the baby starts teething and decides to knaw on the edge of the crib. I really adore the design and the ability to change it to exactly what I need but damn I wish it was made of real wood or just more durable laminate. It's scratches so easily. Edit: We got the 8 in 1 Yuzu crib. I still think I would have gotten the crib even knowing as it was the only crib that I really loved and had such versatility. I just wish I had been a touch more careful to keep scratches to a minimum.

I’m currently resting in my power rocking swivel recliner that I got from a furniture store and it’s the best and will end up in our living room eventually. My graco modular jogging stroller is awesome. Our hand me down crib got the job done. Oldest is 3 and youngest is 3 months old
Thread: "What is the best convertible crib for first time parents?"
Babyletto has some good options for either mini crib to toddler or regular crib to toddler
Thread: "Crib vs Mini Crib"
Babyletto Gelato (the mini crib version not the full size convertible of the same name)
Thread: "babyletto crib?"
I’m so sensitive to smells and got a babyletto crib and it didn’t smell. I still put it together ahead of time in case it did offgas but it was fine. I used the babyletto pure core mattress too.
Thread: "babyletto crib?"
Have babyletto crib and no smell. But that’s a bummer about thuma! I was looking into their beds for myself
Thread: "Where did you get your crib?"
We have the Babyletto Gelato Mini. It's not vintage looking, but I'm really happy with it. All new cribs are safe enough because of regulations, but they're not all the same. Choose one you'll be happy to look at for a few years.

My baby isn’t born yet but we got a babyletto crib and I was pleased with the material quality when I put it together. It feels sturdy and looks nice. We got the scoot which converts to toddler bed, I think it was $600 so mid range price.
Thread: "What kind of crib did you buy from where?"
Our babyletto origami mini crib was in the neighborhood of that. We love it so far.
Thread: "Where did you get your crib?"
Yes! Just got a Babyletto origami mini crib with mattress for $75!
Thread: "Choosing between DaVinci and Babyletto Hudson cribs!"
We have the babyletto 3 in 1 and it’s is an awesome crib! We transitioned my daughter to a toddler bed easily in it and are now reassembling it to crib form for #2!

We’re having this issue with our current 9 month old now I didn’t consider turning it to a floor bed! Did he crawl out a lot?
Thread: "Deinfluence me: pottery barn nursing chair, babyletto crib, and UppaBaby vista "
If you find the cost of something "overwhelming" and it would be a strain to your budget, then you should find a cheaper alternative. Simple as that. There are cheaper and perfectly effective versions of all of the big ticket items out there.
Thread: "Why do people spend $500+ on baby cribs?"
I don't know if this was rhetorical question, but I can think of a few answers. Cribs like $800 babyletto often convert into a toddler bed - ie small low bed with railing. Cribs like the $100 Ikea crib do not. $800 crib often has 3 height settings, Ikea has 2. Babyletto is painted, Ikea is not (though you can paint it with child safe paint if wanted - my kids all chewed their crib railing). Sometimes people also want to buy an object for the new baby, not give money.
Thread: "Quality crib recommendations"
We have a babyletto crib that 18 months and two moves in looks brand new. You don’t have to buy expensive baby stuff but I think you can justify buying an expensive crib when it’s something your kid will be using every day for several years.
Thread: "Crib: splurge or save?"
Same. We have a blue babyletto I got on FB. Covered in teeth marks.
Thread: "Crib: splurge or save?"
Babyletto comes up pretty often secondhand in my area. I paid $300 for a matching crib and dresser set. So might be worth looking out for!
Thread: "Where did you get your crib?"
Seconding how awesome the Babyletto crib is, but I got ours from Floor Found for half the price.
Thread: "babyletto crib?"
Was going to say the same thing. The only thing I would add, if you do find any smells of offgassing happening, the sun can speed up the process ridiculously fast.
Thread: "Nestig Crib, worth it?"
We opted for the babyletto yuzu crib instead. It’s the same idea, I think it just ended up being a few hundred dollars cheaper when we bought it. Baby isn’t here yet, but the setup was super easy, and it comes with everything you need, other than a full size crib mattress (the bassinet and midi crib mattresses are included). It’s great quality, and it shipped in a timely manner.
Thread: "best convertible crib how do you even choose one as a first time parent?"
We got the babyletto scoot and I totally love it. Kiddo 1 is 2.5 and it’s held up amazingly. I like that it comes with the toddler bed rail so you don’t have to buy it separately, I also think it’s just a really cute crib.

We looooove our babyletto rocker/glider from Target
Thread: "Babyletto 9 in 1 crib [ON]"
I got a Babyletto dresser and it was AWFUL to assemble. The way it was constructed was bizarre. I don’t have experience with their cribs, but definitely check it out in person if you can. A crib should be more straight forward, but I’m hesitant to recommend this brand.
Thread: "Babyletto 9 in 1 crib [ON]"
You might have had your baby at this point but I saw this post when searching for Babyletto info-- we have the Rolli 9-in-1 in a small apartment and it's honestly the best! I recommend to anyone who has a small apt/condo/single floor home. It was fantastic to be able to roll from bedroom > living space when baby was a newborn, and is awesome to have the 'midi' size to transition to in our small space as he's now 4 mos/out of the bassinet. I can see how folks would be annoyed by the construction/set up process (it was slightly annoying but I love putting furniture together, lol). I can also see how it wouldn't make sense to spend the money if you have a larger space or multiple floors. However, I STRONGLY recommend to anyone with our setup... I literally returned our bassinet at 39 weeks pregnant and ordered the Rolli, and am so glad we did.
Thread: "Anyone have experience with a Mini Crib? Any recommendations?"
We have 2 mini cribs (weird situation where we’re back and forth between 2 different cities and apartments for a bit). The Babyletto Gelato Mini 4-in-1 is our “main apartment” crib as it can eventually convert into a toddler bed/daybed and even a twin bed. We also have the Babyletto Origami Mini Folding crib - this one doesn’t have option to convert to toddler/twin bed but does have wheels if you need to easily move it from 1 part of the apartment to another.
