Babybay Baby Bay

The Babybay Baby Bay is a co-sleeping bassinet designed to attach to your bed, allowing for easy access to your newborn during the night. It features adjustable height settings and optional wheels for mobility.

Pros (+)

  • Adjustable height for easy access during night feeds
  • Wheels for mobility around the house
  • Good quality construction

Cons (−)

  • Confusion over different versions and features
  • Wooden divider can limit nursing options
  • Some parents prefer a convertible crib instead

Why parents like it

Parents praise the Babybay for its adjustable height, making it easy to align with their bed. The ability to move it around with wheels is also highlighted as a game changer for nighttime care.

Common complaints

Some parents are unsure about the necessity of the wooden divider, which can limit nursing options. A few others mention the existence of various Babybay versions, leading to confusion about features.

Best for

Parents who want a co-sleeping option that keeps baby close for nighttime feeds. The tradeoff is potential confusion over features and versions.

Bottom line

The Babybay is a well-made bassinet that many find helpful for night feeds, but be aware of version differences that may affect usability.

Thread: "newton bassinet vs. babybay"

I don't know the Newton, so I can't compare, but I've used the baby bay for both my kids, and it's an absolute life saver. You can co-sleep without actually co-sleeping, and when I got the hang of breastfeeding, I would just nurse while lying down (and sleeping/dozing). I got so much sleep with baby no. 2. Not because he didn't wake up, but because I would just sleep and nurse, and he was fine and safe in his Baby Bay. It is the only product I would never go without if I had another baby. ETA: I just realised there is a difference between the American and European Babybay. I'm talking about the European, and I know nothing about the American.

I liked the idea of the babybay, but i think we're just going to get a convertible crib and put it up against the bed without one of the walls. They make these foam mattress connector things that will be able to fill in the gap (edit: its called a bed bridge). This way she will have her own space to sleeps separate from the adult mattress, but it will be more similar to a co-sleeping situation where I can easily move her back and forth for night feeds etc. And when she gets too old for the cosleep setup, we will be able to just add the wall and she will have her own crib without having to spend the money on a 2nd sleeping setup

I’m in the us. I just didn’t put the divider on. It’s not essential for the structure or anything

It’s nice they made one for the US but I think the European configuration is really where it shines! I guess technically the US one can be manipulated to make it work that way if someone is comfortable doing that. It is beautiful though and I would’ve loved to use it! But as we know babies make the rules 😂

So weird that there are different Babybay versions! I got mine in Germany and it doesn’t have either issue you mention. The bottom can be adjusted independently from the hooks to make both mattresses perfectly level, and there’s nothing in between. I used it for both my babies until they started to roll and loved it.

Are you in the US? I thought the US version of the baby bay doesn’t allow for nursing while the baby is in it because it has the wooden divider?

Thread: "What bassinet do you have and do you like it?"

We had the BabyBay and I loved it. Very good quality and height can be adjusted seamlessly to fit your bed. There’s a version on wheels and with a detachable side rail, so you can technically use it to co-sleep AND for daytime naps in another room. BUT baby decided he was a contact napper until he simply grew out of it. We use it now as a very expensive bedrail and during the day he loves to pull up on the crib rails 😄

Have you tried the babybay one where it’s open to the bed?

ohhh, wait so is it adjustable to be exactly level with your bed frame??? i didn’t realize that (and i didn’t realize it was even legal in the US haha - i would love that tho!)

This is really late, but did you have to get extra sheets or mattress pads or anything for the newton or does it come with everything? Do standard bassinet size sheets work - seems like the newtons bigger than standard bassinets.

Thread: "Crib or "Next-to-me" bassinet ?"

We used a bassinet and a crib for when he out grows it. We got the Babybay. I found it really useful for the night feeds when they are newborn. I have a tall almost 4 month old so we are moving to the crib soon but the Babybay can be used even when they start rolling.
