UPPAbaby Cruz V2

💎 Best Premium

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is a lightweight, full-size stroller designed for urban environments, featuring a spacious under-seat storage basket and compatibility with the Mesa car seat. It includes an extendable sun canopy and a one-hand recline for convenience.

Pros (+)

  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver in tight spaces
  • Excellent under-seat storage for city errands
  • Durable build that holds up over time

Cons (−)

  • Can be bulky when folded, making transport difficult
  • Weight is a concern for parents needing to carry it often
  • Not as compact as some competitors, limiting its portability

Why parents like it

The Cruz V2 is praised for its sturdy build and excellent storage capacity, making it ideal for city living. Parents also appreciate its ability to handle various terrains without feeling cumbersome.

Common complaints

Several parents mention that the Cruz V2 can feel bulky, especially when folded, making it less convenient for transport. A number of users also express frustration over its weight, particularly for those who need to carry it up stairs or in and out of cars.

Best for

Parents who need a sturdy stroller for city walking and errands. The tradeoff is that it may be too heavy and bulky for those who frequently lift it in and out of vehicles.

Bottom line

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is a reliable stroller for urban parents, but its bulkiness and weight may not suit everyone.

Thread: "Can someone de-influence me from the Uppababy Stroller?"

Since you asked for de-influence, we have the Cruz (so slightly smaller than the vista) and it’s effing huge when folded and when in use. I regularly have to carry it up or down a couple stairs (like three steps, not even a flight) because of how our house is set up and carrying it is so annoying because of how you have to grab it and how the weight is distributed. It’s annoying to load in and out of the car for the same reason. Also it’s incredibly difficult to unfold one handed which is a huge PITA when I’m holding our chunkaroo. If there is a trick I’m missing, please someone let me know! I like it alright but I wish I would have been able to try out some smaller options. It does steer super well and maybe other strollers are just as big and clunky. I’m not about to go buy a new stroller but something to keep in mind.

Yes that’s why we went with the Cruz. Unless you’re having the kids close in age, the configurations will not work. My friend with two under two was able to configure it to put the youngest at the top facing her.

You should really limit car seat use unless necessary. Popping the car seat in is great if you’re saying running into Target. But a walk around the neighborhood or say a day at the zoo I wouldn’t use the car seat. We got a stroller with a bassinet attachment and an actual stroller seat that can be used from birth (with an accessory). Our general use is as follows: - Bassinet for neighborhood strolls (until he grows out of it) - Bucket seat attachment for doctors appointments and running into a store - Stroller seat if out and about for a longer time We have an UppaBaby Cruz and Chicco Keyfit 35

If you watch marketplace uppababy’s pop up for sale fairly regularly. We got a used one for $250, it’s an older model but in great shape. The people we bought it from used it daily for years, so that says something about the quality of construction.

Thread: "Uppababy vista or cruz [on]"

Cruz hands down. The vista is noticeably heavier (and bigger) so take that into consideration if you are having to lug it up or down stairs or in and out of cars yourself. The Vista as a two seat option also wasn’t viable for me because of the weight distribution setup - the smallest baby would always have to go on bottom and that’s just impractical. If you’re thinking of a double stroller, there’s better doubles out there that will allow baby to sit on top. As other folks mentioned, plan for baby you have now (who knows how long until baby number two comes, your oldest may also hate the stroller and want to walk everywhere or you may want to invest in a wagon). If you find later on you want the vista, I would look on marketplace. I think Cruz is a much better option than Vista as it’s a better price point, has same basket size and weight allowance as Vista, you can use the newborn bassinet (buy on marketplace) as well, and it’s also slightly thinner/lighter so helps maneuvering smaller spaces in shops/cafes.

100% agree with all your critiques of the stroller. We also have a Cruz since we are likely one and done, but we bought it used for $150 and I would have a hard time justifying paying more than $250 for it. It’s heavy as hell and not very compact. It’s not the most convenient to open and close. It does still run smoothly even after 6+ years. So at the very least, it is durable. OP, I would just consider your lifestyle and how much use the stroller is going to get and try and see what features are most important to you. You could also put off buying a stroller until baby is a bit bigger and just get by with a caddy for your car seat for the first few months until you get a real sense of how often and how you’ll be using your stroller. I also recommend keeping an eye on FB marketplace or other places for secondhand baby gear to find a good deal on big baby purchases. Good luck!

We live in a city and are carless, so for us a high end stroller (we got the Cruz) did make sense for us because it was kind of like a "car" to us, so we needed a lot of storage space, for it to be good on public transit, etc- it got a lot of mileage for each of our kids thus far. But I would say if you're using it for just some casual walks and the occasional errand as you mentioned, and you own a car, then no you definitely don't need a fancy stroller!

If you plan on going for daily walks with your newborn, yes. I have some friends that just used the car seat clipped into the stroller, but my newborn didn’t like being put in the car seat. And technically the car seat isn’t supposed to be used for more than 2 hours. So I’m glad we had the bassinet attachment. I also used it as a extra sleep space in the house. I got the uppa baby Cruz. And I bought the bassinet second hand. There are so many on fb marketplace since people only use it for the first 3-4 months.

Thread: "Uppababy Cruz (used) or hidden gem stroller that’s cheaper? [on]"

I love my Cruz. If you find a good used one, go for it! Make sure it's the V2 model though (2020 onward). The OG Cruz had smaller wheels and less shock absorption. It was very much a city stroller whereas my V2 handles unpaved paths etc. just fine. The Vista is bigger but not necessarily better. If you want it for the 2-kid capacity there are better designed double strollers out there. The 2nd Vista seat is not as big and most often you end up having to put the smaller child down in front, which is the opposite of how I would want to use it. The Cruz basket is plenty big enough and it's more compact in stores and in my trunk. My friend got the Vista and didn't actually need it to be as big as it is. The V2 suspension also brought the Cruz closer in line to the Vista's suspension. You're not missing much. Pick up a used bassinet attachment too if you like but I preferred the (cheaper!) infant insert that lets you use the regular stroller seat with the buckles from birth. Avoid the Mesa car seat though. It doesn't fit babies as long as what they advertise. Their heads reach the top of the shell before the stated height/weight numbers and then you can't use it anymore anyway. My kid maxed out the shell capacity by 5mo. For the cost of the Mesa there are longer lasting car seats with adapters available. The Clek Liing is around the same price as the Mesa and the Chicco Keyfit models are cheaper and also great.

The vista is my absolute favorite double! its not bulky for a stroller at all, my 5yr old can still ride in the toddler seat and my 4yr old fits in my v2+ rumble. it pushes amazingly with both my boys in it. my 3yr old daughter has a cruz v2, she fits great in it too. both strollers fold the same size. My kids all hated the bassinet, we did the snug seat insert in the seats or car seat. I always use it with both seats facing me. All inline double strollers are intended to be used with your heavier child up top over big wheels, smaller child over front small wheels for best functionality and push.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, more expensive strollers have a smoother ride for longer than less expensive strollers. Also, Uppababy has amazing customer service, which makes me even more inclined to recommend them. I would go with the Cruz instead of the Vista, though, unless you know you're definitely planning to have a second child within 2-2.5 years.

+1 for the Cruz. The bassinet was important to us, so we purchased separately and loved the combo. LO outgrew the bassinet around 4 months and I just recently sold it on Facebook Marketplace. The Cruz is the Vista light. It can accommodate a second (standing) child with the ride along board. I understand that people want to “future proof” their baby purchases, but there’s a lot that can happen between baby #1 and #2. You could decide you’re a one-and-done family; you may have a larger gap between babies; your older one may not want to ride in the stroller by the time the second is born. Hard to predict what may or may not change over the next few years. Plus, some of the Vista configurations just seem really crowded to me? Looks like the bassinet can only be used in the front with the toddler seat; baby gets a view of the back of older sibling’s seat. I also wouldn’t want to be bumping my smaller child into things when I’m wheeling the stroller around. Forward facing rumble seat is way too close to the ground for my comfort.

Youve mentioned a few good ones but imo theyre all just blogger and social media favs, normally people dont use em. Like the uppa baby one is probably the most famous but the issue is that its a bit too heavy to carry around so unless you have a nanny to do it for you, youd have issues. Summer infant just feels a bit too flimsy to me so not exactly comfortable. Baby jogger tho is real good from what ive seen, even there dupes [like this one](https://d1vsa0evaa8kw9.cloudfront.net/?q=GMKAO1021) are pretty good(super travel friendly). I bought a used Uppababy Cruz. I bought my mom a new Graco stroller she picked out for when she watches baby (I would have bought her any stroller she wanted). The Uppababy is just so much better. I upgraded the Cruz to add a like new bassinet and new ride along board with my second baby. He is big enough now for the stroller seat and I noticed that the thin silvery pull out UV shade is deteriorating and flaking after the years of use. Just ordered a new fabric canopy in the matching color (that's not currently offered with new strollers) from Uppababy for $30 and it will be good as new. Everything else has held up extremely well for 4 kids. My SIL's less expensive stroller was basically falling apart after her third kid. I spent $400 total on my used Cruz including add on accessories and repairs. Buying a Cruz with the accessories I have new is $1000+ taxes right now. Most other things I've bought new for my kids, but the used luxury strollers are a great value.

We chose the Cruz since we knew our kids would be 3+ years apart in age and a double stroller was unnecessary. Compared to other strollers we have used with friends or while traveling, Uppababy is so, so, so much smoother and easier to maneuver. Also love that the seat can be facing either way.

I have the Uppa baby Cruz (doesn’t seem size wise much different than my friends vistas) and that thing is my life! I say it all really depends on how you plan to use it though. If you aren’t a walker, and you are mainly driving and popping it in the trunk to use at a destination.. then yes it’s heavy and probably overkill. But as an avid walker/transit commenter it is unbeatable, it’s sturdy and smooth and maneuverable more than any stroller I’ve tried and everyone who pushes it comments on how nicely it pushes. The basket size is amazing for doing shops and hauling whatever you need as well so that’s a huge bonus. Another bonus is it’s very simple to disassemble and configure in different positions! But to be fair I bought the Cruz not the vista so it was slightly cheaper and I didn’t bother with the bassinet attachment, baby was comfortable in a recliner seat with extra supports from a couple weeks old.

My friend liked the faster fold and it being lighter. Also the magnetic Nuna buckle is so much better when they use the regular stroller seat. You should definitely go to Nordstrom or Bloomingdale’s and test it out in person. Took me a few visits to finally decide.

We fell pregnant with #2 much quicker than I expected, so I’m so happy we opted for the double stroller instead of the Cruz. The resale value on the Vista is great too if it is kept in good shape! In my opinion you really want a quality stroller. We have put many miles on ours over the last year and I’ve never had issues with steering or managing it. When baby was a newborn I also loved how the car seat would clip right in and the Vista basket was large enough for grocery trips. If cost is the big variable, certainly keep your eyes open on Marketplace. I also believe that the Jordan colour is 15% off currently at Snuggle Bugz.

Get the vista over the Cruz. The wheels, storage, customization, and stroller maneuverability are so much better — especially in an urban setting where you go out sans car and the stroller is all of your storage. The ONLY downside to UB (not vista specific) is paying for all the add ons for the stroller. Like the original price point isn’t high enough, they get you over and over with all the little things over time you want or need (the hanging bag, the cup holder, the snack tray, etc. etc. etc.) I love my vista though and will use it for all of our babies. AND FWIW I have had to interact with UB customer support and they were a 10/10

I started out with the Stokke Yoyo3 as my only pram (with the newborn pack) bc we live in a first floor with no lift apartment with not much space and I get public transport a lot. So it did make sense for us on paper but I ended up getting a secondhand Uppababy Cruz about 4 months in. The Yoyo is great and is awesome for getting around on public transport but I kind of wish I'd had the Cruz from the jump. I have to be so much more judicious with what I bring with the Yoyo bc there is very little storage (which makes sense obviously, it's a travel pram!) and if I'm taking a full size nappy bag I have to carry it, whereas with the Cruz I can throw everything in the basket and take bigger items like a picnic blanket. I just didn't factor in how much stuff I needed to lug around and honestly a big part of the reason I got another pram was just so I could put a pack of nappies in the basket which you can't really do with the Yoyo. I also like being able to talk and engage with my baby on walks when she's facing me, which isn't possible with the Yoyo for 6m+ as it only faces out. And the newborn pack was great at first bc she could lie flat and nap, but from about 4m she wanted to look out and look around so I'd constantly have to take her out. Plus it's just not the best for surfaces like grass, pebbles etc. All that said I genuinely do think the Yoyo is great lol, but it has worked much better as a second pram for me. I will say I rarely ever fold down the Cruz, the Yoyo now lives in our boot. If I were having to constantly fold it down into a car boot I might feel differently!

We're urban and do not own a car, so for us having a "fancy" stroller was worthwhile. I'm pregnant with #3 and our Uppababy Cruz has gotten a lot of mileage, it will be used for over 6 years altogether and then we will re-sell it. It does well on public transit, has an enormous basket (handy for grocery shopping and toting gear around), it's easy to handle and can be used from day one with a newborn head insert (it fully reclines). We walk and bike and use public transit, so worth it for us- there are days where we have walked 8-10 km+ with it. If you are in a situation where you pretty much just use a stroller for the occasional stroll or errand and otherwise drive or babywear the rest of the time, then no, it's not really worth it.
