Thread: "Best baby carrier for summer?"
I’m going to go against the grain here and say avoid the mesh if you can. My personal experience is the mesh is usually polyester, whereas the cotton or linen carriers are MUCH cooler on the skin and feel much nicer. I started with an Omni 360 mesh - great carrier - hated the scratchy mesh fabric. Bought a 2nd hand Tula standard which is a thin, single piece of thin cotton. Used it all summer. Tula carriers are amazing and you can get them very cheap on marketplace. Then bought a new Tula in linen and another 2nd hand ergo Omni 360 adapt which is cotton. This is my current fave. Both ergos and Tulas are suitable to wear babe into toddlerhood. I still wear my walking 16mo every day. If your baby loves it now, they prob always will!
Thread: "recovering from babybjorn shame...."
I just bought myself a very very nice Tula (a signature standard woven). I have a million carriers but the Tula standard is always what I gravitate to for comfort and ease. I treated myself to a woven ($290, a big big splurge for me, I have only bought second hand carriers til now), but oh man - it's literally the most comfortable carrier ever.
Thread: "What do you get with the more expensive soft structured carriers?"
Check Facebook marketplace! In my area you can find a Tula standard for $30-50 which wasn’t the case when I had my first 5 years ago and Tula was all the rage. I’ve gotten all my carriers free or used with the exception of my HP Lark, which I would like to think I can resell eventually for at least half price.
Thread: "Ergobaby va Baby bjorn"
Certified babywearing consultant here. The ergobaby Omni 360 has an adjustable seat which is what you want with a carrier. The baby Bjorn Mini is an older style carrier with a narrow seat and at this point your baby has actually likely outgrown the width of it. You really want baby to have support from knee to knee and have the carrier holding them so that their knees are higher than their bum in a spread squat position all the way until a year old. After a year its okay if the support isn't quite knee to knee. I'd actually add in a few other recommendations which many parents tend to enjoy instead of either of the ones you've listed. Lennylamb lennylight, tula free to grow, tula standard, Happy baby original, and once baby is a little older the hope and plum lark. Check out r/babywearing for lots more info on safety and picking carriers. 😊
Thread: "Can I put a newborn in a Tula free-to-grow? Also, was this a good deal?"
The infant insert is only for the tula standard. You don't need it/shouldn't use it for the ftg. :) Fwiw the ftg fit ny 7.5 lbs nb from the beginning.
Thread: "Ergobaby or Tula? "
We used ergobaby 360 with our first but I never tried tula till our second baby recently... I got a standard tula carrier second hand on vinted and it was sooo comfy. I found it much comfier for me and baby seems happier to settle in it too. I've now bought a tula explore and a preschooler carrier too for our 3 year old and just sold the ergo! So comfort was main reason for us but an added bonus I think is tula also have a massive range of gorgeous prints and designs
Thread: "What's the deal with tula carriers?"
Ah thanks that’s good to know! I’ve tried ergo before but found it pretty bulky and too much fabric. Is the Tula not like that?
Thread: "What's the deal with tula carriers?"
I loooove my Tula!! I have a standard and it’s so easy. I’ve never used a HBC but I cannot imagine buying one and thinking it’s worth the hype. There are a million brands out there doing similar things at a way lower price point. Of the carriers and wraps I own, I reach for my Tula and my Ergo organic the most
Thread: "Best plus size baby carriers?"
Seconding the Tula carriers! I have the standard and it’s very comfortable
