Thule Spring

The Thule Spring is a compact stroller designed for urban environments and travel, featuring an adapter for most car seats and a lightweight frame. It is suitable for children from birth up to 50 pounds and offers a one-hand fold for easy storage.

Pros (+)

  • Compact and lightweight, perfect for small spaces
  • Affordable compared to premium strollers
  • Smooth ride on flat surfaces

Cons (−)

  • Struggles on uneven or rough terrain
  • Durability concerns reported by some parents
  • Limited storage space for larger items

Why parents like it

Parents praise the Thule Spring for its compact design, making it ideal for small spaces and travel. The stroller is also noted for its smooth ride and compatibility with various car seat adapters.

Common complaints

Some parents report that the Thule Spring struggles on surfaces other than smooth pavement, making it less versatile for city use. A number of users also express concerns about the stroller's durability over time.

Best for

Ideal for parents living in apartments or small homes who need a stroller that folds easily. The tradeoff is that it may not handle rough terrain as well as pricier models.

Bottom line

The Thule Spring is great for parents needing a compact stroller for urban life, but its performance on uneven surfaces may disappoint some.

I can't work out if you're a friend of theirs taking the piss, or a stranger saying random things. Either way lol.

Thule spring was horrible May last year. I took the detour for it and decided I’d rather not collect and drink it. Had my lunch and went on to little bears where i downed a couple of cokes. Great day.

I’m using the Thule Spring as my only stroller as I’m in a small space. I have adaptors to put the car seat on the stroller for now, then I’ll use the infant insert with the seat fully reclined once we’re doing longer walks. My babe is 3 weeks now and it’s been working well so far!

We have so many strollers lol. Thule spring: affordable, adapter for most car seats, great ride. Good for travel too! Could be a great choice if you only want one. Bob jogger: amazing, rides like a champ, the only downside is that it’s huge and refilling the tires is annoying. Bugaboo butterfly: I cashed in gift cards for this and love it. It’s amazing for travel. Definitely not a necessity, but so nice. Uppababy vista: it’s so popular for a reason. This thing is a workhorse, fits in the car fairly well when you break it down, and is so adaptable. It’s expensive but soooo worth it.

Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"

We have two, a Thule urban glide and an UPPAbaby Cruz. Both I got used on OfferUp for 100 and 275 respectively. LOVE the Thule, it's just a little clunky but our neighborhood has crap sidewalks and it's honestly so much better than the cruz for that. For smooth surfaces, I do love the Cruz and it folds down so nicely that we use it when we travel by plane. But I would not have paid retail price for either one, they're both absurdly expensive. If I were to go back and do it again I'd probably get a thule spring or a bob revolution flex... Both of these seem versatile and still are pretty compact.

We have a Thule spring and LOVE it. My son is 3.5 and still uses it. I was extremely overwhelmed with purchasing a stroller but I’m still thrilled with my purchase. I’m really short and I like how short the handle is but it also extends pretty far. It’s smooth, easy to push with one hand, and folds up easily.

Thread: "Good city strollers?"

We have the Thule spring and like it, I didn't feel like paying for an uppababy. We take it on the metro all the time no problem and it's easy to fold up and is relatively light and compact for throwing in the trunk. I didn't love it as much when we had to use the car seat adapter with it though, it felt bulky and we had to take the adapter on and off to fold it. We ended up getting a cheap caddy for the car seat when baby was small and liked that better.

I was all set to get the Thule Spring then I went into the rabbit hole that is “The Stroller Workshop” on YouTube. Love their videos, they really go into the mechanics, design and durability (they have a stroller repair business). Sadly they did not have good things to say about the spring. https://youtu.be/OJunUiI8_Zk

Thread: "Stroller Recommendations"

I live in a city and the stroller is my child’s primary form of transportation on a daily basis, and we bought the Thule Spring based on the Wirecutter reviews (used it with a chicco keyfit 30 until she was big enough to sit up in the stroller itself at around six months old). It has a true one-handed fold and works well in a crowded city environment. Different people have different needs when it comes to what stroller is right for them. The reviews on Wirecutter were really helpful for me in terms of figuring out what features are important to me, like a true one handed fold.

The Thule Spring compact stroller might be a good option for you. I don’t have personal experience with it but I am looking at it as an option. The car seat adapter works for chicco or maxi cosi infant seats and faces you so that’s good. And there’s an infant insert you can buy as well. It holds up to 65lbs which is more than Uppababy products (50lbs) if you think you’re gonna have a big kid. And the 3 big wheels are good for “off roading” situations in a park. Seat just doesn’t rotate around unfortunately. :/

Thread: "[QC] Uppa Baby Minu V2, Montréal winter and commuting vs Thule Spring or Baby Jogger City Mini GT2"

I would not use the Uppa Baby Minu V2 as your main stroller... We had our first in November 2021 in Oslo, Norway -- so I feel like I can give some insight here. Oslo's winters were relatively mild compared to Canadian winters, but their snow management was absolute crap, so we needed something that could handle everything from old cobblestone, gravel, and unplowed sidewalk was necessary. We also did not own a car and took public transit everywhere. The biggest thing parents in Oslo looked for was wheel size -- the bigger the wheel, the better the handling in snow. Inflatable wheels handle better than composite wheels. I can definitely see why the sales people pointed you towards the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 and the Thule Spring. Larger wheels and three-wheel model (they also navigate better in snow). In regards to transporting the stroller up and down stairs, you get good at going up the stairs backwards (pulling the stroller up on two wheels per step) or finding accessible routes (e.g. ramps an elevators). If your apartment does not have an elevator, lots of my friends opted to find a storage spot on the main entrance floor, usually under a stairwell if it's allowed (it's Norway, so no one locked up their stroller, but I probably would here in Canada). If you get the bassinet attachment, you can carry that up the stairs, otherwise, you'll just be carrying baby and supplies up the stairs. We ultimately went for the Thule Urban Glide because of its beefy wheels (we wanted to take it around lakes on gravel paths and stuff too). We loved the bassinet period, but once we transitioned to the chair, it laid really far back -- which was great for younger ages (6-9 months) but as my LO got older, he wanted to sit up straighter. I've heard that they've improved this on the latest model. When we decided to move back to Canada, we traded in the Urban Glide for the Uppababy Vista V2 -- it was around February. We had a big snowstorm and HATED how the Uppababy Vista V2 performed, even though it has bigger wheels than the Minu. The Uppababy does okay in Calgary because our sidewalk and bike path snow removal is pretty good and we live in the inner city. It also folds down smaller than our Thule Urban Glide, so ultimately, we're happy we made that change. If I were you, I would go with what the store recommended (Baby Jogger City Mini GT2) or the Thule Spring. We're a Thule family -- their products are such high quality and incredibly durable.

Agree! We’re in Denver and have a Thule Spring. It’s perfect for around the neighborhood and I even take it to the DOLA areas around Denver that have gravel. It’s the prefect all in one imo. Folds up pretty small and very easily for travel as well.

I bought one blind because they had them in stock at Target. We're still expecting so haven't opened it. Surprised there is so little information or reviews on it, but we tried the 1st gen version and liked it so hopefully it will be worth it.

How did it work out for you? We have the Thule Spring stroller and it has the same issue. Our daughter is two and we've got season passes to a local amusement park so we've been using the stroller more and I hate that she basically holds onto the sides pulling herself upright so she can see the whole time she's in it.

I have the spring. Got it in 2020 for my first. It's mostly good. Not the best in snow but we still have used it to get to daycare for 2 years (15 min walk each way) and it's lasted. It's light, has one hand fold which is great when holding a baby in the other hand. The seat is deep too so my now 3yo still fits it well.

Thread: "Thule Spring stroller customer review?"

I’ve been using the Thule Spring for about 3 months with a Chicco Keyfit30 car seat and adaptor. Pros: price, canopy and styling is nice, super easy to fold and able to lift with 1 hand to toss in trunk, equally easy to unfold, relatively smooth handling (I struggle a bit with one handed steering), comfy handle, super big basket that is easy to toss into, very easy to click car seat in. Cons: wheels sometimes get stuck at big sidewalk ledges because they are not very big, a bit bumpy over rough terrain like grass or large gravel, need to remove keyfit30 adaptor before folding, tiny bit creaky in cold weather. For the cons - it’s easy to just tip the stroller back to get over high ledges, and for my baby the more bumpy and rumbly the better because it puts him to sleep. I always put baby in car before putting the stroller in the trunk so the adaptor thing is no big deal either. Haven’t used the actual stroller seat or buckles yet to comment. All in all, I’m very pleased with what I got for the price. I’m sure other strollers have a smoother ride, but I wasn’t willing to pay an extra 1000 to get it. I also considered the GT2 and tried it out in store. I would bet it has a smoother ride than the Spring but I liked the basket, aesthetic, and price of the Spring better.

I love the stroller workshop. Have a few parent friends that invested in Thule spring for a city stroller and disliked it given that it sucks on anything except perfect pavement or mall floors. To be honest the city select and bumble ride were the ones that got too marks from users. Thule does the chariots really well, with the urban glide 2 being a pretty solid stroller by them. All of their other strollers seem to get not great reviews.

Thread: "Any cybex fans here? Stuck between cybex and uppababy"

Oh my gosh, I can’t imagine carrying the e-gazelle up and down stairs. It’s already a heavy stroller and then the battery adds more weight. If you’re going on the train and/or up and down stairs, I’d strongly recommend a travel-sized stroller like a Yoyo, Aer+, or Minu V3. Or just baby-wearing. The Vista is also awkward to carry, doesn’t have a good handle for it. For the hills I can appreciate the benefit of the battery… but I’d say a lighter stroller or baby-wearing is still the way to go. Or maybe consider a 3-wheel jogger type stroller since many have a really nice push (most are heavy though). The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 isn’t too heavy and has a really easy, quick fold. Thule Spring might be a good one to look at as well.
