Thread: "Do we NEED an infant car seat? "
A good friend of ours just had the grow-with-me style, and the nurses would NOT go to the car. They made her husband undo the car seat and lug the whole thing inside, and then he has to remember how to reinstall it on I've-just-been-in-a-hospital-room-with-a-newborn level first sleep. Definitely get the infant seat. We also loved the convenience, and got a grace click connect stroller that it fit with. She just outgrew it and we miss how easy it was.
Thread: "Overwhelmed by car seat options"
This. My carseat is great, except no one can sit in the front passenger seat in a comfortable way. I should've checked the dimensions, but since I have a maxda cx5, I didn't think it would be an issue. We have the safety 1st grow and go. Will probably have to get a different car seat, buy a bigger car, or wait it out til he can sit front facing.

Safety 1st Grow and Go All in one. The worst part is that it can be a bitch to install. But once you figure it out, it's pretty easy (I'm tiny and weak but even I can get it installed. Just took me a few tricks). The car seat cover can be thrown in the dryer, which was the biggest reason we got it. Our kid occasionally gets car sick and I needed something that I didn't have to wait 2 days to air dry. I needed it ready within hours because we only have one car seat. It's not GREAT to clean but it's not impossible - we use a lot of long qtips and toothpicks. (Why they haven't invented a car seat you can pressure wash/ can't leak down into tiny impossible crevices is beyond me. But this is a pretty good next best thing). the removable cups are nice, the straps are easy enough to move, the cover is easy enough to get on and off (even when covered in throw up lol). I'd buy it again. edit - the straps do somehow get twisted super easily, now that I think about it. But not enough to make me consider any other car seat. We had the Graco TriRide 3 in 1 but it caused my kid to get carsick even on short rides (10 minutes or less, she only rode in it a few times. Something about it just immediately made her sick every time). it was impossible to completely clean and we ended up having to throw it out after like a week. I wouldn't take one even if they gave me a brand new one for free.
Thread: "Why are some not rear-facing the car seat until 40 lbs?"
Tipping is typically an install issue. It does occur more often on certain seats, experienced [CPSTs](https://csftl.org/finding-a-cpst/) have tricks to get the install just right to prevent that. Sometimes it is a vehicle incompatibility issue. Off the top of my head the Safety 1st Go and Grow (and itβs identical siblings) needs a lower anchor install to rear face in many vehicles, it sits on a tiny base and may tip with a seatbelt install. And not all seating positions have lower anchors.
