I use Philips avent natural bottles

What size do you use for the Philips? My baby uses these but I has to bump him up to the 3+ month (size 4) when he was like a month old. The size 3 for 1+ month, he was the same way he would suck and suck and barely get anything. I’ve used other bottles and he will drink out of any bottle but he gets picky and will refuse other bottles after a while but not the Philips.

Yes Phillips Avent natural glass bottles over here!

Make sure the bottles don’t smell like dish soap, too. I made that mistake but then noticed & switched to unscented & natural products and my LO took it right away after that. We use Philips Avent Natural glass bottles with the slowest flow nipple.

The paint on the outside tested positive for lead! I just got rid of mine. Lead Safe Mama tested the bottles. I bought Philips Avent Naturals glass bottles & the Lansinoh nipples can be used with them

If you’re interested in nursing in addition to bottle feeding, I would check out this lactation consultant’s blog post. She specifically recommends to AVOID Comotomo. If you’re planning to exclusively bottle feed, then I suppose it doesn’t matter. https://www.rachelobrienibclc.com/blog/bottles-for-breastfed-babies-introducing-a-bottle-part-1/ I used Philips Avent Natural glass bottles (not the anti-colic bottles) at first because I wanted to avoid plastic and they were the most widely available glass bottles. At the time we were also struggling with nursing, so I wanted to find a nipple that did not cause bottle preference. I used the **Evenflo Balance Wide** nipples. They worked with the Avent bottles and rings, but the nipple is too tall and gets smushed by the cap. I didn’t notice any damage caused by smushing, but we also tried to avoid putting a cap on when possible. We didn’t get out of the house too much and have to take the bottles out anyway. Eventually I gave up on nursing/latching and transitioned to exclusively bottle feeding. My ~3 month old baby showed signs that he was frustrated by the Evenflo Balance slow flow rate so I bought **Pigeon** nipples. Their “Super slow” is good for newborns. However I need a complicated set-up to get them to work with the Avent glass bottles. I bought this [Maymom set from Amazon](https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B01LXW0JIP) since I needed it for pumping at work. I use the Philips Avent glass bottles + Maymom collar + Pigeon nipple + caps from the Evenflo Balance Wide nipples. We still primarily use this combination nowadays for my 10 month old. He takes the Medium flow Pigeon nipple now. **Quark** is another brand that fits onto the Philips Avent glass bottles rings and the Avent cap smushes it down a little less. My baby accepted all of those nipples (except mine I guess lol)
Thread: "Philips Avent VS Dr. Browns anti-colic bottles - what’s your preference? My baby will be bottle fed only as I have no breasts."
This is just baby #1 for me so if I end up with a small bottle collection I won’t be upset lol. In the end I just want my baby to eat. This was still helpful.
Thread: "Using 8oz bottles with newborn?"
The only thing I’d caution against is planning to definitely use one bottle over the other. Actually, 2 words of caution: 1) focus less on which bottle and more on bottle feeding technique (paced with a very slow flow nipple), and 2) go ahead and try both. And I’d highly recommend finding an IBCLC, especially one that will come to your home - it’s so helpful to work on latch and feeding in your home environment, and I’d highly recommend it if you can. Our insurance covered it, we loved our program, and if it’s outside your insurance, check costs because it may not be as pricey as you think. Anecdotally, we had to supplement formula for a bit when my son was born because he lost a lot of weight and I had a postpartum hemorrhage. We used the Phillips Avent Natural bottles and within a few weeks, he was exclusively on breastmilk and switching between breast and bottle effortlessly. Sure, some bottles are “better” for mimicking the breast, but no bottle nipple is the same as a breast, much less your breast. The biggest issue with adding bottles to breastfeeding is keeping flow slow enough to avoid bottle preference because it’s easier. Aside from that, babies are smart and adaptable and whichever bottle you use won’t be the biggest factor in how breastfeeding goes.

I tried Philips Avent Natural bottles with my son, because I had previously loved them with my daughter. She’s 6 now and I guess they redesigned them since… it was a disaster. It took an hour to get him to eat anything, like you said. At 8 weeks old I had him on the fastest flow and every bottle was still a struggle to even keep him awake. I finally caved and bought Dr Browns and haven’t looked back. He can actually eat now without basically requiring a hardcore jaw workout. Maybe my baby is just lazy 🤣. But those bottles were bizarre to me and it was a relief to give up on them.
