Interesting to read such a strongly negative review set from users - we exclusively used Avent bottles to supplement breast milk and they were great for us. If you’re pumping - their milk storage containers and adapters for pumps are excellent. After we stopped with milk I used them for storing frozen food - they’re a perfect size for a ~12mo dinner.

We also exclusively use the Avent bottles and nipples and baby girl loves them. I think they are close to breast sucking because baby goes from breast to bottle and back with no hassle

The key to these bottles (something we learned a few weeks in) is that there’s a subtle notch on the ring that should align with the tiny hole on the nipple. Makes a huge difference in terms of flow.

For us, this did "fix" it when we were having issues with our newborn, but now at 5 months in, I've realized it was a well-timed coincidence. I don't like it up + it's just fine.. Probably true for many who continue to share the tip.

I think it’s you, which it’s possible when you’re a first time parent. Once you figure it out, those bottles are amazing. My baby couldn’t use them the first 3 months because the flow was 2 heavy. If you’re using the glass ones, those are the best.

Thread: "comotomo bottles OR philips avent glass bottles!?! 🤨"

Our lactation consultant did not recommend the Comotomo bottles because it’s harder for babies to get a good latch on the nipple. She recommended Phillips Avent bottles and they worked well for us.

Same here. She likes them way more than the Dr.Brown’s and Nuk bottles.

Thread: "Favorite “anti-colic” Bottle for newborn?! "

I was told by a doctor that apparently anti colic bottles are a marketing tactic and that there’s no such thing as an anti colic bottle. Not sure how true that is. However, different bottles work for different babies. We tried a NUK anti colic bottle, the dr browns bottles and the MAAM bottles. Hated the NUK, dr browns makes him choke on the long nipple and he loves the MAAM. I like the self sanitation option. When I was at my dad’s for a dinner I was able to wash the bottle quick sanitizer it in the microwave and serve him another bottle in it. I guess they’d be handy for travel or camping with that option! I’ve heard good things about the Phillip advent bottles from people as well.

We’re using the MAM anti colic bottles. They’re a little annoying to put together but I feel like I don’t see any gas bubbles in the bottle like I did with the Philips Avent.

Thread: "Phillips avent bottles good or bad?"

We used Phillips avent with great experience until daughter was 3 months old. Then for no apparent reason she refused to eat more than half an ounce out of them. We switched to Dr. Browns and immediately she was back to 4 ounce feeds. No idea what happened or why she decided she was over it. Also we tried multiple nipples sizes on Phillips bottles before switching brands.

Which storage containers are the ones you liked? I’m seeing two kinds, one looks like the small Avent bottles except the lid doesn’t have a nipple, and the others honestly look like urine sample cups lol. I’ve been wondering which ones are better.

With my first baby, I combo fed & she did great on Phillips avent bottles. My second baby can’t seem to get a good latch with the avent bottles & does much better with the Dr. Brown bottles 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t think it’s that you are using them wrong. I just don’t think they work for your baby. Phillips Avent were the best for my son because he would basically waterboard himself drinking out of any other nipple/bottle combo. So the slow flow was a selling point for me. We only got them after running through every option in the Babylist box and then started trying random ones from target. You might just need to try some others until you find the right fit.

Thread: "What bottles to buy for newborn??"

Our baby hated the Dr. Brown’s bottles, fussed the whole time and spit up more, and there are so many parts to clean. Also we had an issue where we packed two of them in an insulated bag to take on an outing and they both exploded and leaked everywhere. we realized there was yet ANOTHER part to put on to make sure it didn’t leak. She loves the Philips Avent bottles. However nipples they come with for newborns (3) was actually too slow of a release for her, and she would get so tired of sucking and give up, so we use the size 4 nipples (which say 3 months on the packaging).

\+1 for Philips. We had also 4 different brands :D all that fancy stuff with anti colic, but in the end the new philips avent are good imo (they had a redesign some months ago)
