Thread: "Am I the only loser who is still using plastic bottles? "

I recently discovered the Chicco Duo bottles which are plastic outside but coated with a thin layer of glass on the inside so it’s still light and durable. Have been my go-to for daycare and bottles are going strong for over half a year of daily use, we boil to sanitize and put them through the dishwasher.

My little one used those exact ones her entire infancy, I looooved them and was glad she did too.

Yes! We used them with #1 and will use again with #2. It doesn’t solve the whole plastic problem bc I do pump into plastic and obv have to store and freeze in plastic bags, but at least the milk isn’t being heated while in contact with plastic also being heated. Not sure if it does make much difference but it was at least a little reassurance

      Thread: "Glass vs Plastic Bottles?"

      * I'm a total klutz, our floors are hardwood and tile, and our countertops are that awful ultrahard quartz that destroys anything with the tiniest bump. Our glass bottles (Phillips Avent) made it through baby number one just fine and are on deck for baby number two in a few months. If you're really nervous, you can get [silicone sleeves](https://www.google.com/search?q=silicone+sleeve+for+glass+baby+bottle&sca_esv=b6ab7d9e5410acba&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS1096US1096&ei=0aPcZeOuCPL9ptQPxe2h8AM&oq=silicone+sleeve+for+glass++bottle&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiIXNpbGljb25lIHNsZWV2ZSBmb3IgZ2xhc3MgIGJvdHRsZSoCCAEyChAAGIAEGIoFGEMyBhAAGAcYHjIGEAAYBxgeMgYQABgHGB4yBhAAGAgYHjIGEAAYCBgeMgYQABgIGB4yBhAAGAgYHjILEAAYgAQYigUYhgMyCxAAGIAEGIoFGIYDSOsRUOICWIIIcAJ4AZABAJgBYKABtAGqAQEyuAEDyAEA-AEBmAIEoALDAcICChAAGEcY1gQYsAPCAggQABgIGAcYHpgDAIgGAZAGCJIHATQ&sclient=gws-wiz-serp) or go for [Chicco Duo](https://www.chiccousa.com/duo-bottle/), which has a plastic outer for lightness and durability and a glass inner lining to protect against microplastics contamination. * Of course glass can go in the dishwasher; you use it for your water glasses, don't you? It's actually far more dishwasher-safe than plastic. * Bottle nipples are silicone and sometimes latex rubber.

Thread: "Which bottles are we using? "

Chicco Duo. They are plastic outside with thin layer of glass inside. Very lightweight. Easy for baby to hold when they become interested in that. We’ve dropped them a bunch on all sorts of surfaces and have had no breakage. I’ve read that MAM nipples fit them as well (but I’ve never tried as my daughter took the Chicco nipples just fine).

Thread: "What glass baby bottles do you use?"

Chicco duo, they're plastic outside and a thin layer of glass inside. Baby likes them just fine, and they're compatible with my spectra pump, same size as mam and avent bottles which I also have a couple of so I can swap out nipples. My baby will take pretty much any nipple thankfully.

We bought the chicco duo bottles! Very thin glass on the inside, but plastic outside. They look and feel like plastic. The pigeon and lansinoh nipples fit in them too which is great because those are highly recommended by IBCLCs.

Thread: "Philips avent and evenflo balance "

I found this comparison chart: [https://www.facebook.com/LactationHub/posts/waitbefore-you-throw-out-that-bottles-with-a-nipple-shape-or-flow-that-isnt-an-o/722051443028844/](https://www.facebook.com/LactationHub/posts/waitbefore-you-throw-out-that-bottles-with-a-nipple-shape-or-flow-that-isnt-an-o/722051443028844/) I used the Pigeon and Lansinoh nipples interchangeably on Chicco Duo bottles and the Avent glass bottles. That chart says that the Evenflow nipples fit the Chicco Duos, so I'd say there's a decent chance that they'll fit the Phillips Avent too. Maybe buy a small pack and test first though, unless someone else can confirm for sure? I did think the collar opening on the Avent bottles was a bit wider than the collar opening on the Chicco Duos, so you need to be paying a little more attention when you put the nipple in; if you don't get it centered when you screw the collar down, it can leak. It's also possible to pull the nipple out completely when the collar is screwed down, so just watch out for that if your baby likes to chomp the nipple and pull.

Thread: "PSA to those who use Phillips Avent Natural Response bottles/nipples!!"

Are you sure your talking about out the natural response nipples? The natural response nipples don't have a notch in the white ring so I'm not sure what you mean (you seem to be scribing a ring like what Chico duo use. Most bottle rings with a notch don't need to be lined up with the nipple air vent because the underside of the ring is recessed so the notch lets air into a channel under the hard plastic that goes 360 degrees around so the nipple orientation doesn't matter. What I did discover matters if the nipple has an airlock design like the Chico duo ones (the exposed little nub) is that the nub can fill with water during cleaning and essentially vapor lock the air valve on the lower flow nipples. To fix this, pinch the top and bottom of the nub between paper towels to pull the water out of it and it will work fine regardless of where the nub is in relation to the notch on the plastic ring.

The Chicco Duo bottles are glass on the inside and plastic on the outside, so they won't break when dropped, but the milk only touches glass. https://www.chiccousa.com/duo-bottle/

Chicco Duo was a great option for us. It’s lighter weight than standard glass bottles, which is nice for pumping. Our daycare also does not allow regular glass bottles or other glass containers, but they do allow the Chicco Duo bottles.

I did glass - I have three kinds: Dr. Browns, Pigeon, and Chicco Duo which is glass inside plastic outside. I use the Lansinoh/Pigeon nipples for the latter. My baby isn't picky and is happy with any milk-delivering device, whether it is boob or bottle or cup. But my husband prefers the Dr. Brown bottle, I prefer the Pigeon, and we both like the Chicco Duo for on the go.

Mine would not take the Nano Bebe bottles. Or the Como Tomo. He sorta kinda takes the Nuk naturals but the one he really prefers is the Chicco duo. Honestly, if you can afford it, get a couple of different kinds (but just get one of each) and see what baby likes. Then buy more of that kind. Also make sure to use the slow flow nipple of whatever bottle you get. They're supposed to have to work for it just the way they would at the breast.

My 5 mo also loves the Chicco Duos - had to switch from Philips Avent bc daycare doesn't allow glass, so we are sort of tricking them with the glass inside the Duos. Baby hated the nipples they came with though. We use Pigeon nipples which I saw recommended on this sub for BF babies.

We have used Dr. Brown premie nipple, MAM 0 nipple, and Como Tomo slow flow. Finally settled on Chicco Duo, because we like that it’s less parts, glass inside the bottle, and slow flow nipple.

Chicco duo have held up great and were the only bottle my baby really took too. Started with the number 1 nipple (slowest) and switched to 2 at 3.5 months, 3 at 6ish months and kept with it til now (1 year old). Glass inside plastic outside lightweight and accepted at our daycare which doesn’t accept any glass containers.
