Pros (+)

  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
  • One-hand fold is convenient for busy parents
  • Compatible with Nuna car seats for seamless travel

Cons (−)

  • Lacks some features of premium strollers
  • Handle height may not suit shorter parents
  • Not as robust for rough terrain compared to competitors

Why parents like it

Parents praise the Tavo Next for its lightweight design and one-handed folding capability, making it convenient for quick trips. The stroller's compatibility with Nuna car seats is also a highlight for many.

Common complaints

Some parents feel the Tavo Next lacks features found in more expensive strollers, which can be a drawback for those seeking additional functionality. A few users also mention that the handle height may not be ideal for shorter parents.

Best for

Thread: "Are expensive strollers worth it?"

Short answer, yes. I looked pretty extensively at strollers but I did make a mistake. I got the Nuna Pipa Travel system. Great materials and sturdy. We use the stroller everyday on a non paved trail and on sidewalks/roads. The wheels stand the test. The material is nice and not plastic-y which I prefer. My mistake was getting one that was a stroller that turned to to a bassinet. I dunno, it just never happened. I should have gone with the one where you click the stroller or car seat. Would have been more convenient.

Thread: "Doona or something lighter?"

The Doona is really heavy and not rated highly for safety. It actually doesn’t meet safety standards in a lot of countries. If you’re going for convenience get the Nuna car seat and a Nuna trvl or other compatible travel stroller (I’ve heard the Joie version is really similar and that it’s compatible but the brand has not officially said it’s compatible). If you like uppa baby they have a decent travel stroller too.

nuna Trvl stroller is the best. I have that one for travel and use the Nuna Mixx Next stroller for everyday. I have the Nuna Pipa RX infant carseat which fits into both and has been amazing. About to get the Nuna Rava. Clearly a Nuna fan here haha

The seat doesn’t come off or rotate to parent-facing, and the front wheels I believe were plastic instead of rubber (not sure if they still are). Parent-facing is really about personal preference… I liked it but it’s not a must have. Sometimes I wished I had a stroller like this where I could have both the seat and the car seat at the same time (for the extra canopy coverage and convenience of not having to carry the stroller seat separately). I would say also look at the Nuna TRVL LX if you’re interested in the Tavo!

Thread: "Jogging stroller- worth it?"

We have a three wheel off-road stroller (Bumbleride) and a Nuna Tvlr. This for me is ideal, the Nuna lives in the car and is amazing for shops and pavement, can be unfolded with one hand etc. The off-road stroller is a dream on trails and for a jog with the dog. I'm glad that we have both, if you're a serious runner you might want to look at Thule.

We are big nuna fans—we have the pipa + TRVL. We also have a used uppababy vista that we love! I would personally recommend the TRVL over the TAVO because it’s lighter weight (I believe 13 lbs for TRVL vs 23 lbs for TAVO) and the fold is so, so easy on the TRVL, BUT I also don’t like having my baby in the car seat all the time and that’s the only way to use a TRVL until 6ish months! I really wish the TRVL came with a bassinet or a full recline.

Thread: "Nuna Tavo Next for newborn"

If it lays flat, I would be fine with it. That said, we used the car seat clicked into the stroller for the first 4 months or so - it’s perfectly safe, and it’s a 2 hour max at a time, not per day. You definitely want to make sure they don’t spend too much time in containers, including car seats, swings, and bouncers, but if they have a doctors appointment and spend 90 minutes in the car that day, maybe 15 minutes at the office still in their car seat, and then you go on a 45 minute walk a few hours later, that’s totally fine, especially if they’re getting lots of time being held and laying on flat surfaces, too - between tummy time and time spent in a bassinet or crib and feeding and doing bicycle kicks and all that, there’s tons of time for healthy development, and taking long walks in the car seat in the stroller isn’t going to hurt them (as long as it’s properly clicked in at the correct angle, baby is snugly buckled, etc). And baby wearing can be a great option in the early days, too - a wrap tends to work best for newborns and would keep baby out of the stroller altogether for walks for a little while. Also consider that you’ll be recovering in the early days, too. Depending on your delivery, it could be weeks before you’re even able to walk much - and even with an easy delivery, it’s important to be careful not to overdo it. Pushing a stroller is harder on your core than you realize until you’re well into causing more damage because you just wanted to get out of the house (ask me how I know…). So for any exercise, including walking, know the signs of doing too much: leaking urine is a huge one, also hip/back pain, and a feeling of heaviness in your pelvis all mean to take a step back and take a break. I went for walks that were too long (like under a mile) too early and ended up having to heal a minor prolapse with PT after, so learn from my mistakes and let yourself rest - which will give your baby time to get bigger, too, before you have to really get the logistics of long walks figure out.

Thread: "Strollers - what did you wish you knew before you bought?"

I originally bought the Nuna Tavo and I hated it. I ended up buying the Uppababy Cruz v2 and also hated that one lol. In the end, I bought the one I wanted all along but always thought was too expensive - the nuna mixx. I love the Mixx so if you have any questions, happy to answer them! I would get something that is: 1. Has the ability to be parent facing 2. Has a easy / not irritating fold 3. Can lie back all the way for a newborn 4. Fits in your trunk 5. Has a capsule adapter so if bub is sleeping, you can take off the seat and snap in the seat It’s worth it to buy the stroller that you want as you’ll use it a lot. I use my stroller everyday and don’t regret paying $865 with tax for my stroller.

Thread: "Should I get the doona infant car seat? Is it better than the nuna travel system?"

We have the nuna and I don’t feel like it’s heavy at all. I’m dad so maybe that’s why but it’s super super light compared to my brothers Doona. Also, my nephew who is 30th percentile has already grown out of his Doona at 1. Plus the tires on the Doona are tiny. And plastic. I routinely run over large rocks/curbs/anything I wasn’t with our nuna and my 11 month old loves it.

Thread: "Alright, what's the catch...."

I referred to this comparison chart before buying. https://usasupport.nunababy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056628792-Nuna-Stroller-Comparison I also watched lots of reviews on YouTube, they are super helpful! Keep in mind that due to getting hot and lack of recline the newborn shouldn't stay in car seat for more than 2 hours (you either use the bassinet or you buckle the baby in the stroller seat in flat position). As someone mentioned, tavo does not support the bassinet. Also, I dont know if its a big matter, but the size of wheels might be important because strollers with smaller wheels (like Tavo model) are very challenging on any terrain other than smooth asphalt/concrete. Chosing a stroller is very hard if you dont get to see them all in person, but i hope you and your baby are happy with your final decision.

I agree! My husband and I did a lot of deliberating and eventually decided to get a travel system instead. We tested out the doona and although it is convenient, having to hunch over was annoying. Also, the baby will only be in it for up to a year (depending on your baby’s size) and I can’t imagine keeping the baby in the car seat for long periods of time. It must be so uncomfortable. We decided on the Nuna travel system instead and figured it was more worth it.

So- we splurged on the Nuna PipaRX Lite car seat and I wanted something compatible but decided we’d get the stroller 2nd hand and I am SO glad we did. We LOVE our gently used Nuna Tavo- and because we spent $100 instead of $700 or whatever on it, I’m even more happy about it. It’s a great stroller, but FB marketplace really came in with the win on this because honestly, I use it, but I don’t use it THAT much. I also got an incredible BOB running stroller on FB, again, the person had used it like TWO times, and I got an incredible deal on it, and my husband and I both have so much fun with baby in that- we go to the trails on the weekend and walk/run with him and he has a blast and it’s an incredible stroller for the purpose (and again, the fact I paid like $150 instead of $700 makes it that much more enjoyable). Honestly- if you want a “nicer” stroller, seriously consider getting it second hand, we got both of ours in pristine condition and I’m so happy we were able to get what we wanted but not pay an insane price for it!

so update: we went to dillards but hubby really doesn’t have a preference and they didn’t have the tavo next to test, just the tavo. but he said he likes that the stroller fits right in to the carrier and it’s fine that the undercarriage holds less. I also noticed that it just feels way less bulky than the chicco we got from our registry which I prefer. I’m pretty sure we are going to return our chicco corso le but my question is, is the rolling and suspension good on the tavo next? the corso le has all rubber tires and it’s smooth as heck just sooo bulky it feels like. The handle bars come up almost to my chest. but it feels like a good ride. I didn’t get to push the tavo next because they didn’t have it and the tavo was locked so we couldn’t push it around

We got a grey tavo next on Fb marketplace for $250. Love how seamless it works with the car seats. We tried using it in “bassinet” mode by placing a small Montessori pad/mat above the seat in full recline and it was great! Also this stroller has really good sun protection with lots of vents and zippers for air flow on hot days. It is a little bulkier than I expected bc the front wheels kinda flop around when folded and the seat back material folds on itself. But it does fit fine in the back of my Tesla Y without any issues. Very happy with the purchase especially bc used. But not sure I could justify brand new pricing. Hence I looked for used ones.

The tavo model doesn’t have as many of the nice features. For someone who wants the look of a Nuna but cant justify the price. The trvl is nice but keep in mind if one of the major reasons for buying it is stowing it in the overhead compartment of a plane, it doesn’t fit all airlines.

I have the original Tavo. When he was a tiny baby I clipped in the carseat and used that. I used the lay flat feature for longer walks. I’m not sure about the Next, but with the original you can button up the sides to almost make it like a bassinet. It didn’t bother me that he wasn’t facing me. I was able to see him through the peekaboo window or it was easy enough to pop in front of him and check.

Thread: "Nuna TRIV next vs MIXX next"

I’ve been having this same internal debate all weekend lol! I was talking to my mom about it and she felt that lighter and less bulky would be better. But a friend was telling me to not compromise on the features of a full size stroller (she had/has the TAVO). We live in a technically suburban town and use our car to go most places but most of our trips are under 15 minutes in the car. We also live in a small 900sf condo with stairs to the front door so we will likely be storing the stroller in the trunk of the car/garage (also limited on space). We occasionally go for longer walks around town in the 1-2 mile range, but nothing much longer than that. If we’re hiking we’ll likely wear baby in a backpack we got from a friend. I liked that the TRIV is a basically a lighter weight MIXX but a beefier TRVL. I’m pretty sure it folds down small enough to gate check on an airplane too so for our occasional (maybe 1x/year) flight we wouldn’t need to buy a separate travel stroller. I’m mostly concerned about its stability and feeling solid given that it’s so lightweight compared to full size strollers. I don’t know what to do!!! Leaning towards the TRIV though lol!

My boyfriends mom got us a Nuna Trvl. It latches well to the Nuna Pipa car seat. I love it, however my son who is three months seems to hate the car seat now bc it is a C shape seat. It was a bit pricy, but as a combo it was $1k. It looks bulky but is very light weight and I’m only 96lbs lol. Also, storing it back into my trunk after use is so easy, just one slide and it closes on its own like a transformer. Only downfall is the stroller doesn’t lay all the way back, but since the car seat attached to the stroller it’s no biggie.
