Nuna Demi Grow

The Nuna Demi Grow is a convertible stroller designed to accommodate one or two children, featuring a large storage basket and compatibility with the Nuna Pipa car seat. It can be configured in multiple ways, allowing for various seating arrangements as your family grows.

Pros (+)

  • Sturdy build that feels reliable for daily use
  • Converts easily from single to double stroller
  • Large storage basket for outings with kids

Cons (−)

  • Heavier than some competitors, making it hard to lift
  • Can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces
  • Some parents report issues with handling once fully loaded

Why parents like it

Parents praise the sturdy construction and the ability to convert from a single to a double stroller. The large storage basket is also highlighted as a practical feature for outings with multiple children.

Common complaints

The weight of the stroller is a common complaint, particularly for parents in urban settings who need to lift it frequently. Some parents also mention difficulty maneuvering it in tight spaces.

Best for

Parents looking for a durable stroller that can adapt as their family grows. The tradeoff is the added weight, which may be cumbersome for some.

Bottom line

The Nuna Demi Grow is a versatile stroller that many parents find reliable, but its weight may be a drawback for those in urban environments.

Thread: "Talk to me about double strollers for children 2 years apart."

Oh! I have opinions. My kids are 2 years and 19 days apart (they're currently 2.5 years old and 8.5 months old). We've struggled and ultimately, we've found different strollers were useful for different things and they all have drawbacks. Personally, we're not fans of tandem doubles, including single to doubles (like the Vista). With the vast majority of them, the bassinet attachment needs to go on the bottom, farther away from the parent, with the larger, more independent child being in the high seat where they cannot get in and out independently. They also feel like pushing a bus and have a wide turn radius. They're not even that much narrower than a lot of side by side doubles. There's options like the Nuna Demi-Grow, where the second seat goes under the primary seat, and we thought one of those would be great. Yes, they're more maneuverable, but when we went to try it out in person we HATED it. It was challenging to get toddler in and out of that lower seat. I didn't even attempt to buckle her in because of how tedious it was. The lower seat is extremely reclined and my toddler likes to sit up. She hated it and wanted out immediately. It was a massive disappointment. With side-by-side doubles, you have the extra width (which is rough for shopping, especially in non-box stores. It's fine for Costco or Target, but clothing stores at a mall with narrow aisles are hard). Also, with most, you can't reverse the seat to face the parent which is a major drawback, especially with the baby (the big exception is the Bugaboo Donkey, which looks wonderful, except for the almost $2000 price tag. It would be great with twins, but I just couldn't justify that cost with one child who would likely not be stroller bound for too much longer). And then there's wagons. They're great for long, outdoor outings. They're terrible for indoor outings. They're long, can be cumbersome to push and maneuver, there's no seat recline for baby. But they're absolutely incredible for things like trips to the zoo or the pumpkin patch. Camping. It's been an absolute lifesaver for skiing (husband drops me off at the lodge with the wagon, both kids, all of our gear, and then he goes and parks the car). Outings with potentially rough terrain. And it's my toddler's favorite of the options because she has the most room to move around in, the best snack tray, she can see and interact with her little sister, and she can get in and out on her own. In the end, we have 3 options which we rotate through based on what we're doing. For short outings, we use the single stroller we had from my first kid (Uppababy Cruz V2) with the piggyback board attachment. Toddler walks unless we're in a parking lot, or crossing a street, or she's struggling with listening, and then I throw her on the piggyback board. It's worked well. She started being able to actually use that option shortly after baby was born (we tried before baby arrived and she just didn't have the coordination yet). For indoor outings and travel where we need a seated stroller option for both kids, we use the Zoe Twin+ (with the all-terrain wheels that they sell separately). We originally bought it for travel but it's actually ended up being the most used of our strollers we own. It's lightweight (19 lbs), easy to fold up and throw in the car, nice snack trays, deep recline option for baby (rated for ages 3 months+) and sits very upright for toddler. The biggest drawbacks with it are the storage sucks, it's not newborn compatible, and the wheels that it comes with are terrible. And then we have the Veer Wagon. We use this for longer outings like trips to the zoo, the pumping patch, and walks in the winter when the sidewalks are snowy and icy. Its all terrain capabilities are wonderful. It folds easily to fit in the car. It's newborn compatible (with carseat attachments). But, it's long and can be difficult to steer. It's hard to fit into elevators. And baby can't sit in it without a carseat until they're 6 months+ (and even with that, it doesn't have a recline options, so if she gets tired, I can't lay her back for a nap). Ultimately, I don't regret any of our strollers. We need all of them and use them for different purposes. If I had an unlimited budget, I'd probably have gone with the Bugaboo Donkey. If I could only afford to have one of the strollers we currently own, I'd go with the Zoe Twin+ without question.

Thread: "Stroller recommendations for city-dwellers?"

I’m an NYC dad and have talked to a lot of other parents about this. Biggest factor to consider is if you’re planning to have a second kid, at least while the first needs to be in a stroller. If so, invest in a single-to-double. The uppababy vista, or Nuna Demi at the high end, or the baby jogger select, maxi cosi Lila, or mockingbird in the mid range. There’s other similar ones too. These are all in-line strollers where one kid is basically on top of the other. Side by side strollers are impossible to manage on busy city sidewalks or public transportation. The downside is that all of these strollers are pretty large still and heavy. Can be tough to store in an apartment and even get down the aisle of a city supermarket. If you think you’re one and done or gonna have a larger gap, just get a really high quality travel stroller, with the option for a ride on board for the older kid when the time comes. If I could do it all over again, I would have spent the money on a Babyzen Yoyo. All my parent friends with them rave about it. Built solid, lightweight, folds up tiny for travel, you can get car seat adapters or a newborn kit for the infant, and a ride on board for the future. I’ve spent too much money in my life on strollers now to invest in one but I really wish I did.

Not thinking it’s worth it to buy a stroller like this is of course your opinion, and that’s fine, but it’s very unreasonable to suggest that OP could spend $500 less—so, $100?—for a decent stroller *and* car seat. What?!

Thread: "Mixx Next or Cruz?"

Honestly, you could probably score one of these second hand. Even an older model Uppababy, Nuna, Joolz, BOB, etc will function exponentially better than a new-in-box Gracco/Chicco. I have two kids. I would say you probably “need” two strollers, I’ve often wanted a third but I haven’t been able to convince the hubby. I think find your “workhorse” stroller. This is going to be the stroller that has a giant basket, that you can load up with all of the things you’re going to need for the day. This is the stroller you’re going to bring to amusement parks, aquariums, festivals, etc. I am perfectly happy with this being a really big stroller, even choosing to go with the Vista over the cruise or Demi Grow over Mixx. We went with a Demi, and I bought it new with my second. I wish I had this stroller with my first. The next stroller we have is a jogger. I got a Thule second hand on FB. I genuinely enjoy going for a nice jog, and usually by the time I’m 10 minutes in, my kiddo is asleep. This is our three wheel option, and when my first was little, if we wanted a stroller that would be better for navigating tight spots, or one that I could guarantee she would nap in, we would choose the jogger. If you jog/run - anticipate “needing” a jogger option. I know some people use their jogger as their main stroller, but for me, the basket is just way too small to load up for a day out at an amusement park. The third option I’ve often thought about getting is an ultra compact. Examples would be an Uppababy minu, Joolz air, bugaboo butterfly. In an ideal world, I would keep this stroller in the trunk of my car for those times when I didn’t anticipate needing a stroller, but wish I’d have the option to use one. “Dang babe. I wish we had the stroller….”as we take turns carrying baby. I’d have gladly paid money to be able to run back to the car to grab it. The other times that I’ve thought about getting one of these is when we travel. My oldest is now six, youngest two, and if he can avoid it, he would much rather walk. We traveled a few months ago and while there were times it would’ve come in handy, we ultimately were ok without. As the other commenter mentioned - definitely go test drive these.

Thread: "Nuna Demi Grow/Next with 2 Infant Seats?"

We had this for our twins who were born in 2022 and LOVED it! We used it with car seats til they were about one and then the Nuna sibling seats when they were a little older. With the car seats clipped in it’s basically the same size as a single stroller so it fits everywhere a single stroller would and it’s so easy to clip the car seats in and go which was important to us since we live in a walkable area and near a city that we go into a often. Also (not sure if this matters for you) but the slimmer profile meant that people often didn’t realize there were two babies in there which meant we could go to the grocery store and out and about without drawing too much attention. The only negatives for us were that (a) the bottom baby can only be clipped in facing forward so you can’t see them as you walk (not sure if it’s the same for the newer model) and (b) once they got to around 10/11 months they wanted to be able to see and the baby at the bottom definitely had a limited view. Regardless, it was a great choice for us!

It’s short and I am 5’4 No storage. For me it’s a no I had the triv and urbn car seat but that was too small for me too. It’s also short and a little bit of storage space. Bright side is that it is very light Urbn car seat is Nunas baseless car seat. It’s amazing if you have multiple cars. Anyway I bought the demi grow as well and it’s heavier but the basket is HUGE because it’s technically a double stroller And car seat sits super high no leaning down

I have the Nuna Demo Grow! I have been really happy with it overall! It really easy super easy to maneuver due to the bottom seat being beneath. And we have Nuna infant seat, so it all worked together easily. I was also worried about the lack of storage, but it hasn’t been a big deal! Even with both seats, I have been able to put a (not super giant) diaper bag, library books, etc. without a problem. So it’s not like there’s actually no storage…just not a large amount. If you get it, just be prepared for an almost annoying amount of comments from strangers about how it’s the coolest stroller they’ve ever seen and people being surprised because they didn’t initially notice there was a second child in the stroller since the bottom seat is so “hidden” lol.

we went with the demi because of the eventual double conversion and absolutely love it. buuuuut… it’s enormous, even when folded up. if you have limited space then definitely go with something smaller. my wife keeps it in her car and i keep a baby jogger city mini gt2 in mine. the latter is also our travel stroller because it’s way easier to pack. the push and stability of the demi next are incredible though and we are happy to have both. definitely get a bassinet with either one you go with.

I don’t have personal experience but I’ve done lots of research since I can’t make up my mind and the Nuna basket seat has a higher weight limit. I think 50 lbs while the uppababy second seat is 35 lbs. I’ve also read that toddlers love the basket seat cause they can climb in on their own and they think it’s their own fun special nook that’s cozier and more protected.

I bought a Nuna Demi Next and I've loved it so far with just one newborn. It's bulky but still easy to maneuver and all the features are nice even if we don't have another child. It came with both the bassinet and the seat so if we end up with 2u2 we can fit both kids in there no problem. It's also travel system compatible but since I don't own a car I skipped the infant car seat. In the stroller the seat actually clips *under* the bassinet on top of the back wheels so the weight is distributed in a way that makes the stroller easy to turn even with 2 kids. However the bassinet and seat can clip in both positions both ways, whichever is preferable. Later on when the bassinet isn't needed anymore I can buy a second seat and there is also a toddler board option if the older one doesn't want to sit down.

Ended up one parent always baby wearing (prob dad at first since your c section will need to heal) and adding on a rider attachment (lascal brand) to our nuna triv next So we either: Baby wearing and toddler in stroller or Baby in stroller car seat and toddler on rider board This will depend on what we are doing. Rider board is easily detachable Eventually when baby hit 4 months we got a jogging double bob which I would 10/10 recommend. We leave that one in our garage for neighborhood walks and also do grocery shopping like that. The nuna triv stays in our car. Thread: "Why is choosing a baby stroller so hard???"

You just pick the one that fits YOUR criteria the most, no matter what other people think. I was so sure I was getting a Nuna Demi next, I almost didn’t go look at strollers. I was sooo close to just ordering it online. We went to see the Nuna in person to just look at the colors and we spent like 30 minutes trying it out and then decided to just browse the others, just to be sure. I didn’t like how flimsy some felt, with others I didn’t like that the bassinet had buttons not zippers, sometimes I hated their poor sun coverage. Then we saw the Vista 2 and decided to give it a go. Husband fell in love. We rode the Vista and Nuna up and down the store to compare the two. I felt It was missing some Nuna features, so I wasn’t sold right away, but I noticed it felt lighter, had a sturdier built, had some perks I preferred (like how the brake works and how you can lift the bassinet with one hand). Went online to explore some more and realized Vista 3 was out, had what I felt was missing in Vista 2, so we finally settled on this one. It has everything I want in a stroller. But it might not have what you want. Maybe it’s too big for you or …. something else. I’m rambling, but what helped me decide was just envisioning myself going on a walk with LO and seeing if the stroller has everything I would want on said walk (I wanted a 2-in-1 stroller with bigger wheels, easy brake system, integrated sun cover, good ventilation, big basket, ability to ride 2 kids, I liked the one handed handle movement, easier wheel locking compared to Nuna, much easier to fold and lift than the Nuna Demi, etc.) I did look at smaller Nuna strollers but felt like they were lacking, even though I live in central Europe and sooo many people have a Nuna, Cybex or Bugaboo. Uppababy isn’t as popular, but I feel so happy with our choice.

We got the Nina Demi Grow for our first baby (before even thinking about having 2u2, just thought it would be a good investment anyway because we were planning an age difference of 3-3.5. If I could do it again, I probably wouldn’t go with that for a few reasons 1. It’s super heavy so carrying it up and down stairs was not possible for me. It was also way harder to use it on slopes for this reason. Plus, getting in and out of public transport was not easy. The weight plays a big role. 2. With 2 kids, the problem compounds and we don’t have any storage option for the diaper bag other than wearing it

I also have a cheap pram with bassinet for travel (didn’t want to risk it getting damaged when handled at the airport) and I’m glad I have the nuna for the daily. It feels better, the suspension is better, the bassinet is bigger and baby likes it better. But if you really want to be smart with money… buy a secondhand stroller with bassinet for the first months and then sell that when baby needs a stroller and then splurge, you will use the stroller longer. That would be my advice

Thread: "Strollers - what did you wish you knew before you bought?"

I think you need to see the context you live in. Like, I live in a very old town in Europe so our sidewalks and streets are VERY uneven and made of cobblestones, so I prioritize getting a stroller with big wheels and nice suspensions, and with a very sturdy frame. We settled for the Nuna Demi next and I'm very happy with it. It is big and a bit cumbersome to pack in the car, but I use it far more to walk around my neighborhood than to do errands. We recently acquired a travel one (the Nuna trvl xl. we are travelling soon) and boy is it a nightmare to maneuver it on cobblestones, but very foldable, lightweight and compact. We chose everything from the same brand so everything would be compatible without a hassle and adapters. And honestly I'm very happy with my choice.

I think it depends on your toddler. With an almost 3yo and 5mth old we use our pram (Nuna Demi grow) in double mode at least once or twice per week for outings. The toddler usually likes to walk, but gets major FOMO if the baby is in the pram. I like having the ability to strap the tiny tyrant in if he is being unsafe when we are out and about as he is a runner. My friend has similarly aged kids but a very compliant toddler who will happily hold hands and walks alongside her, and they haven’t needed to use their pram as a double at all.

The demi grow is only like 4” narrower than the donkey in duo mode. For car based lifestyles it really stinks to have to assemble/disassemble your stroller multiple times per day to fold/unfold in and out of the trunk. The donkey fold is a BEAST but at least it’s physically capable of folding in a single piece if you have the trunk space for it (as a nanny, I didn’t and I had to remove both seats and collapse it all the way to mono width to put in my own or the family’s car - fortunately we were city based and didn’t drive too often. Loved that stroller but despised having to drive anywhere with it). The demi grow will always require a seat to be removed to fold, and in double mode you give up a lot of basket space and the practical ability to use the more upright recline positions of the seats (especially with older toddlers with longer legs).

We have this stroller and have used it from Day 1 until today (they're almost 21mo). We used it all the time with 2 pipas and it was no issue at all for walking, but we had the same issue as the previous commenter that eventually the bottom baby gets annoyed bc you can't see as well as in the top position + the limitations of which direction you can put the seat. For the bigger seat, if you lay the bottom one all the way back it is difficult to walk, but if you sit it up, it works totally ok. We used it with two big kid seats for a walk today and it worked just fine. If I can get my act together tomorrow I'll DM you a few photos of it in various positions with various seat configurations. If you do go with this one practice removing the bottom.m car seat a few times before the little ones come; it can be a bit tricky and can be super frustrating when you're in a hurry if you can't get it to work on the first try. 😝

Our friends just got one of these! It's definitely a nice stroller. I think it compares favorably to other tandem 2-seaters for the price. However, I cannot imagine using a stroller that big. For anything. I have a 5yo and a 6mo (so clearly my kids are not close in age, that does matter, fwiw we thought they would be). We use a jogger for walks and in ye olden days when we went to the mall, we had a small umbrella stroller for that. IMO the demi grow does not have the smooth ride/easy push/joggability of a jogger, and it's WAY too big for me to put in/out of my trunk.

It's a nice stroller but it's really big and not the most maneuverable in small spaces, pretty heavy, and takes up pretty much all of my trunk space. It's also hard to get the carseat off the stroller. How close together in age are you planning to have your kids? I realized after my son was born that I want to wait until he's 2 to start trying so I'm not sure how much use we'll actually get out of the 2 seat feature. I also really like baby wearing so I could see myself wearing baby #2 while pushing the older one in the stroller. If I could go back I would have bought the uppababy Cruz. I like that they have a ridealong board and I could see us using that more often and I feel like it would work longer for us. I did buy the Nuna Pipa as well and I would buy it again, it's light and convenient, especially when we use my husband's car and don't need to move the base. It was pretty expensive for an item that will only get used for a year though.

We bought demi grow from Buy Buy Baby last year and it’s still in my local store in Vancouver. It comes with all the adaptors because the only car seat compatible with it is the nuna pipa. We like it a lot but have had a pretty terrible experience with their customer service on multiple occasions.

We had a Baby Trend with our first and it broke before our second was born - they’re 18 months apart. We ended up with the Nuna Demi Grow and love it! We purchased a floor model and got a great discount. We likely would have gone with another brand if we didn’t find such a good deal. My big kids (5 and 3.5) rotate in and out of the bottom rumble seat without our help on long outings so everyone gets a break. For running, and recreational walks I use a Burley Honey Bee, it’s got stroller attachments and still is compatible with biking. Kids do have to be about 6 months old before they can ride in it, which works for us because we baby wear when they’re really little. I would say super well know brands like Chico, Graco, and Bob probably have great quality gear. In my experience so does Nuna. You’re probably going to have a durable stroller if you picked from any of those brands. I would just pass on obscure brands, like I said, I tried it and it was a total waste of my money.

Good to know about the Demi grow & that your kids don’t mind the low seat. It seems to be a pain point for some - but my guess is it’s mostly from people looking at it (or knowing their kids’ preferences in hindsight) I had _no_ idea that a floor model purchase was possible - I will definitely make a note to ask, it doesn’t hurt to ask 👌🏼 Did you find that baby trend was poor quality in general? We’ll def avoid the brand if so 😁

They do, but the Nuna's 2nd seat is in the basket like old school doubles. I'm not a fan. Plus, the double is all black which I like the brown details of the Uppababy. The Nuna carseat with an Uppa Vista/Cruz is a pretty common duo.

Thread: "Are “luxury” strollers actually worth it?"

I got a Nuna Demi Next and we love it. I love that it has a bassinet attachment and we used the crap out of it, but I also don’t know that we NEEDED the luxury version had we found something mid-range that had everything. Strollers get beat UP over time, especially when you have a toddler who likes to miss their mouth with snacks. lol

We have the nuna demi grow and we call it “the tank”. That thing is sturdy lol
