I'm just going to assume you're in Germany because of the other person's comment. People sometimes have the weirdest opinions here. What are you supposed to do? Take the baby out of the car seat put him in another carrier then after the appointment put him back in a carrier or stroller to put him in his car seat 3 minutes later? Or use both of your arms holding the baby when you probably have a diaper bag, need to sign something, probably take off your shoes and jacket once you're inside.... People are nuts I took my baby in the maxi cosi everytime we had an appointment, it was super easy, even the doc said it made things easier if he needed to be poked.

Let me first say, I got the same vibe you did. But this person is kind of active aside from this post. Is your take that they pay people to make this post on their accounts or just buy accounts? Again not discrediting what you’re saying, I’m 100% with you, I’m just curious about the logistics if you know!
Thread: "Infant car seat recommendation that doesn’t feel cheap?"
I don't think "feel" matters when it comes to safety. Maxi Cosi just recalled a huge number of infant seat bases, so personally I would avoid them or at least check what you're buying against the list of Canadian seats. Something I didn't realize before buying a car seat is that not every car seat works in every car or for every driver. It's best to get a recommendation from a CPST for your vehicle and driver(s) heights.
Thread: "Any recommendations of a good Car Seat for newborn that won't burn a hole in the pocket?"
Maxi cosi cabriofix Isize (make sure it’s the i size one) - currently £90 at John Lewis. Infant carriers are the safest car seat for a newborn baby - they are all tested to the same safety standards but differ on how supportive they are, this seat is one of the better ones. You can get ones that will last longer but they won’t fit as well in the first 3-6 months which is when your baby is most vulnerable in the car seat so personally I would recommend getting an infant carrier to start with and then getting them a long lasting rear facing seat when they grow out of the infant carrier (usually around a year but varies depending on the seat and the size of the baby). You can get adapters for most travel systems to use maxi cosi seats with them - though best practice is to only put the baby in the car seat when they are in the car so imho they are not really necessary. Source - I used to fit car seats at Halfords (though I wouldn’t recommended them for car seat advice!).

I suspect they were just talking shit about how everyone has it (kind of like in the US where everyone has a Doona - it’s an awesome car seat but just funny how many people have it). Still a completely unnecessary comment…I don’t think they were shaming you for being a bad parent or something, but rather calling you the equivalent of “basic”.

Tbf the only time I notice is if they have the same brand of car seat/pram as us because they’re super vibrant and recognisable, the rest of the time I’m like “that’s a baby in a car seat” 🤣

Yeah imagine creativity would keep your baby safe in the event if a car accident! I'm about as crunchy as they come and even I will not consider any car seat without a great safety rating and a company with a sold reputation for making good car seats. Glue and glitter doesn't keep my baby from brain damage.
Thread: "Choosing car seats"
I always pop in on car seat threads because I love ours so much so I want to spread the love. For our infant seat we used the Maxi Cosi Mico Max 30. Things I loved: SUPER EASY to clean. The whole cover comes off so easily and it can be machine washed AND dried, which is huge. I could have the whole thing washed, dried, and back in the car in an hour—not exaggerating. This single selling point is enough to have me coming here to recommend it. You WILL have diaper blowouts. There's no way around it so having an easy to clean seat is key. I imagine with twins it'll be doubly important! Also loved: It's very easy to install. All of the strollers we were considering had adapters for this brand. You don't say which stroller you're going with, but it's a common brand to have adapters available for. If you're traveling in another car without your base, it's easy to install with just a seatbelt. Also my daughter was always very comfortable in it so she liked it as well. I believe the weight limit starts at 4lbs and goes to 30. Perfect for preemies. It has an anti-rebound bar which further protects in the event of a crash. When our daughter outgrew the Mico Max 30, we loved it so much we went with Maxi Cosi again for her convertible seat. We're now in the Maxi Cosi Pria 85 Max and love it just as much as the infant seat. It's just as easy to clean which again is the most awesome thing about these seats. We bought both seats through Albee Baby's website. They had free shipping and frequently have really good sales. The Mico Max 30 seats are all on sale right now from 15-40% off depending on color! Look at the manual for your car seat it should give guidance. The one we got (Maxi Cosi Mico Luxe) specifically states that it needs to touch the seat in front for optimal safety based on their studies. So that rules out middle seat for us! We have installed it behind the passenger seat as my husband needs the seat farther back if he is driving as he is tall.

Thread: "Infant car seat recommendation that doesn’t feel cheap?"
As a CPST, I never recommend Maxi Cosi because they are so hard to install and get the right angle. They take much space front to back that the front passenger has very little space left. The car seat cannot touch the front seat at all. I avoided taking my babies out in public spaces until they were 3 months old. We get our groceries delivered, but I would probably keep baby in the car seat if it's less than 15 minutes.

I remember being labeled lazy for using a Doona. I had cancer while pregnant with chemo before and after the baby was born. I’m not lazy I was just dying. My sister has 4 kids and used a Doona to help streamline getting in and out of the car with all the kids. Less time lingering with your back turned means less time for your older kids to run off and possibly get hurt.

The Facebook group “Child restraints. Is your child restrained correctly?” is an awesome resource. I also have the Maxi Cosi Mico 12. My girl was 2.7 coming home so a bit bigger than your baby however it is supposed to be appropriate for premies. May be worth posting a shot in the Facebook group and get some feedback.
Thread: "Difference between expensive infant seats and less expensive infant seats"
Having bought the Walmart cheapie cosco seat for travel and having a fancier maxicosi. These are the major differences. Maxicosi has a lot more padding and the material feels fancier like a neoprene. The maxicosi buckle is a lot easier to click in and out of. As is the loosening fixture The attachments for getting the car seat attached to the car are more like seatbelt buckles where as the cosco seat just has metal clips. TBH i think the cosco seat is perfectly fine. My only gripe with the Cosco is that rear facing only has a reclined option.

Thread: "Maxi cosi vs graco modes travel systems"
We just got back from shopping and went with the Maxi Cosi. For me, I liked that bassinet more and the stroller felt so much lighter to steer. The adjustable handle height was also good as I'm 5'1 and my partner is 5'11. If you have Amazon Prime it's free delivery. My partner's parents are buying for us and it was going to be almost $200 delivery from Babies r Us. With Prime it's free delivery and will be here tomorrow!
Thread: "Just got mom-shamed for using a MaxiCosi (WHYY???)"
Babies shouldn’t be in car seats except when travelling in the car, and even then only for a maximum of 2 hours per day (some Drs recommend less than 30 mins for newborns or premature babies). Obviously what OP did is fine (an extra 5 mins to get from the Dr app to car), but a lot of parents use the car seat attachment to take their baby out for walks or shopping which is not safe/healthy/comfortable.
Thread: "Maxi cosi vs graco modes travel systems"
This is the reason I didn't get my maxi cosi from babies r us too. I was shocked they were going to charge delivery. Snugglebugz had it at the same price and actual free shipping. Also went with the maxi cozi because I'm 5'0 and my husband is 5'11 :)
Thread: "Infant car seat recommendation that doesn’t feel cheap?"
I have a Maxi cosi, and my looooong baby is already too long in her body for it at 5 months, so I wish I’d gotten a cheaper infant seat since she barely used it. This isn’t because it’s small, it just wasn’t worth spending that much on an infant seat because my baby is 93rd percentile in length right now 😅 It’s also heaaaavy. We bought it because it was one of the options compatible with our Bumbleride stroller (which I love). We just bought a Grace 4ever for her next. It’s on sale at my Canadian Tire in BC this week.
Thread: "Choosing car seats"
I would definitely recommend the Maxi Cosi Mico Max 30 seats. They are compatible with many more double strollers than the Chicco and Graco seats, and even for strollers that have adapters for both, fitting two bucket seats at once can be difficult with the Chicco or Graco seats because of how the adaptors need to be shaped. If I had twins, depending on trunk space, I would most likely go for the Bumbleride Indie Twin stroller (the 2018 version has some nice extra features versus earlier models), and it is compatible with two Maxi Cosi seats. The adapters also work with the Nuna seats but from everything I’ve heard, it’s tricky to get the seats in and out of the adaptors and parents generally don’t like using the Nuna seats with the Indie Twin. If you prefer a tandem (seats in front and back instead of side by side) double, the City Select or City Select Lux is really popular with twin parents. Two Maxi Cosi or Cybex seats fit better than two Chicco or Graco seats because of how the adaptors are set up, and once your babies can use the regular stroller seats, the Select seats have equal weight limits (on the Uppababy Vista, the front/lower seat has a much lower weight limit, so for two babies the same age and size it won’t last as long). If you really want to use Chicco infant seats, I would recommend getting the Joovy Twin Roo Snap and go stroller and use that while you’re clipping car seats into a stroller, and once you’re not doing that, something lightweight but with a fully flat recline like the Valco Snap Duo Trend. The Snap Duo Trend is incredibly lightweight for a double stroller, has an easy one-hand fold, and can accommodate very tall kids, so it will stay useful for much longer than many other strollers. The regular stroller seats are newborn compatible but it can only take one car seat (Maxi Cosi, Cybex, or Nuna brands only) at a time.
Thread: "Can anyone recommend a car seat (not capsule) for a small car?"
I have the euro slim and it's good, however the Maxi Cosi seats can't touch the seat in front so the passenger seat on my Ford Kuga has to be pretty far forward to make that work.
Thread: "Capsule recommendations"
A little late to the party but wanted to add our experience here. We forked out about $450 for the Maxi Cosi Mico 12 even though we were told we would struggle with the weight and bub wouldn't fit in it long etc etc. Our bub is now 8 months old and weighs 9.5kg and we are still using it! The main reasons... - when he falls asleep in it we can transfer him into the house or onto the pram and keep him asleep a little longer.. sometimes a lot longer. - he hates being put into the seat directly in the car so it makes it so much easier to put him in in the house or wherever we are and then carry him to the car. - he still fits. He's now hitting 72.5cm tall and will probably fit in there until hes about 75 or more. No idea how we still manage to carry him in it but your arms just get stronger. Also. It fits standard pram adapters. We have a redsbaby pram.
Thread: "Are Maxi Cosi and Nuna Car Seats Worth the Money? [MB]"
I wanted to burn my maxi cosi bucket seat! Impossible to tighten and really long front to back. Flimsy canopy. I hated it hated it hated it.
Thread: "Are Uppababy car seats really that bad? Maxi Cosi or Nuna instead?"
The Nuna Pipa also has a recline issue that requires either a pool noodle or rolled up towel to be used under the base for proper install in some vehicles. Of course this is rarely ever shown by all the IG moms who swear by it, but it’s actually in the manual that this is the necessary fix to avoid positional asphyxiation. For this reason most CPSTs won’t recommend it. It is light, and it is popular but I’d never buy it. If it’s a choice between the Nuna or the Maxi Cosi, I would go for the Maxi Cosi. I personally chose the Clek Liing. My main reasons were: - made in Canada, not China - has a load leg, which is an added safety feature that is not standard in North America but is popular is Europe and has excellent safety ratings - has a European belt path for baseless install (flexibility to easily transfer the seat into a friend’s car or if I needed to have my car towed/take a taxi or Uber unexpectedly, or if I was ever needing to transport baby in a vehicle that doesn’t have anchors to attach the base into… just provides greater flexibility for any scenario I could find myself in!) - has an incredibly simple base install, compared to other seats where installing the base is a real pain! I have watched my SIL struggle to install her Uppababy Mesa car seat base several times. The Clek is so easy to install and adjust, it’s actually really insane how difficult other car seats look to install in comparison Edited to add: I also have the Uppababy Vista so another reason I chose the Clek Liing was because it is compatible.

Our Maxi Cosi cost us $550AUD so I don't know what the fuck she's talking about. These things are safe and well made.
Thread: "Which car seat do you have and what do you like/dislike about it?"
It’s as big as my maxi-cosi mico luxe+ was, I didn’t have to adjust the passenger seat again to put it in. It is tight, I have a 2014 ford escape for reference, not a particularly large car, but bigger than some.
Thread: "Struggling to pick a car seat"
My son is 17lbs now and turning 4m in a week- my husband and I are both taller and I expected to not want to use the infant car seat so soon. I know it’s not for everyone, but I bought a used Maxi Cosi infant seat from FB marketplace that was in very decent condition and then also bought a Graco4ever which we switched to a few weeks ago. I would have maybe liked to use the infant seat during the upcoming winter but he was just too heavy and also a bit long for it. I love the convertible so far! Baby was soo heavy to carry in his infant seat starting at 12lbs honestly, and I’d prefer to baby wear with a wrap or carrier for grocery shopping etc. And he liked his bassinet on my Bugaboo until I switched it to the seat now that he can roll over. Even though we use the convertible now I don’t regret getting the infant seat at the beginning. And if your baby is smaller you could definitely get way more use out of it than I did, there’s so many variables.
Thread: "Infant car seat recommendation that doesn’t feel cheap?"
The Maxi Cosi is rated #3 in Consumer reports, after the Ckek Liing and Chicco keyfit! I have the stroller bassinet too, but is it worth moving the baby to it for quick errands like a grocery run?
Thread: "Question on car seat / travel system"
1. We really like being able to pop the car seat on the frame of the buggy when she’s sleeping, it’s also handy for saving space in the boot if you have a pram attachment that doesn’t fold flat. 2. We got the maxi cosi pebble 360 pro with slide tech and the isofix base, it’s expensive but we love it l, it’s very secure and reclines quite well, the slide tech is handy as it brings the car seat closer to you so if you’ve a bad back c section, mobility issues it’s ideal. The cybex cloud t is great too it’s bigger so would probably last longer and has a better lie flat recline than the 360 pro. 3. There are so many options out there depending on your needs go to as many baby shops and try as many as you can, I would recommend trying the folding mechanism and see how easy it would be to fold and unfold unaided and try it on different surfaces. Some buggy’s are so big and bulky they just weren’t for us, I have mobility issues and some weren’t suitable for me to use unaided. Some buggy’s you have to get down on your hunkers to fold and lift into the car others you don’t, they really vary in weight too, you won’t want something really heavy if you have a c section or bad back etc, some are much more user friendly than others. And then are you planning on having one child or more is a big factor some allow for an extra child seat to be added on to the frame and save buying a bigger buggy in the future all you’d need for a future baby would be an extra attachment. If your going to have more get something like an uppababy vista, personally I don’t like them, everyone else seems to love them, I found them very heavy and bulky we got a bugaboo dragonfly which is amazing and ticks all of our boxes but the wheels wouldn’t be great for country living. It’s compact, sturdy and easy to put up and take down you can get the car seat adapters for it and the pram attachment folds flat on the frame most don’t so you would have the pram part taking up most of your boot. On our hunt for the perfect baby equipment for our needs we went to Tony Kealy’s, mamas and papas, Bella baby, the other baby shop in dundrum and some smaller family owned shops too. Funnily enough we found more features on the same travel systems by speaking to different sales assistants in the shops that hadn’t been mentioned in others.

GLUE AND GLITTER 😂✨ My maxi cosi pram and car seat was one of the most popular at the time! I paid a reasonable price for both and they’ve been fantastic. Pram is not the fanciest but no issues in the last 15 months. People are so weird sometimes.
Thread: "Just got mom-shamed for using a MaxiCosi (WHYY???)"
Those car seats are perfectly fine and safe to use. There is, however, something about the position of the baby in such a car seat. It is advised not to leave them in said car seats for more than 2 hour in one go. I don't exactly remember what this is all about, but you can look it up on the interwebs.
Thread: "Just got mom-shamed for using a MaxiCosi (WHYY???)"
They can’t. The younger they are, the less time they can be in the car seat. But I don’t think that’s what they were thinking, it feels more like jealousy/insecurity to me. I don’t know where OP lives, but where I live maxi cosi is on the mid-to-expensive end when it comes to baby stuff. The “can’t they be more creative” part is what evokes envy to me
Thread: "Maxi cosi vs graco modes travel systems"
The Maxi Cosi is quite nice and a great mid-price stroller. It has some nice upgrades like the leather handle bar. It has a very nice bassinet mode and the carseat can clip in and out very easily. If you want something more budget friendly go with the Graco. I personally don't like snack trays so I appreciate the belly bar.
