Don’t buy a bunch of bottles! Get the free baby bags from target and Amazon, they have some bottles in them. Wait and see what kinds of bottles your baby will take! I bought a tonnn of Dr. Brown’s because I heard they had good ratings and my girl was not about them. We went through five or six brands until we found the one she liked (MAM)

MAM bottle have a rubber thing in the bottom with air holes which helps! As baby sucks at one end, the vacuum pulls air in at the other, meaning way less bubbles.

As others have said, it all depends on your baby and what they get along with. We’ve used MAM bottles from the start, our LO took to them straight away so that was a win. I also love the fact that they are ‘self sterilising’ and you can put them in the microwave without needing a separate steriliser for them to go into first. I find them very easy to take apart and clean too so that’s another bonus 👍🏻 I’d definitely try them out first and see how you get on, after all, babies are constant trial and error 😁

I didn’t introduce bottles to my baby and at 2 months she was practically starving because she couldn’t latch anymore and had never used a bottle so she refused them. We had to be in the hospital with an NG Tube until we got her to take MAM Bottles. I recommend introducing bottles sooner rather than later so you avoid that scary experience. My niece is breastfeeding from one boob, pumping the other, and when baby is done on the boob she offers the bottle. It’s working for her and I might try it myself with my next baby. Also, MAM nipples were a literal GOD SEND for us. My baby latches onto them the best and really they’re the only nipple she likes. She doesn’t even like Pacifiers.

I bought alllll the Mam bottles/sizes/nipples/pacifiers, and had everything completely ready to go. Nope. Cool, I also bought allll the Tommee Tippee shit as back up, also ready to go. Nope. My kid only used the Dr. Brown narrow we got in an Amazon gift box , or Similac box, or something stupid. So, ran out grabbed just a couple more… hoping to transition back into the (embarrassing amount) bottles I had planned, nope again. I admitted defeat and just bought more (pink) Dr. Browns, but she will only use the Tommee Tippee pacifiers.

My totally formula fed baby became a bottle snob around the 3 month mark. Went right off the cheap store brand bottles and sometimes had a big protest about the expensive Mam and Medela ones too. Some of it might have been flow speed related - we could have bought new teats to test - but instead we bought more Mam bottles as they had the best success rate and demoted the cheap ones to the back of the cupboard. When she got really upset, she might only drink lying down, or after a walk outside. We just tried to keep calm and offer different variations until we found something she would tolerate. Luckily this turned out to be a phase and it's been months since I've had to give a dinnertime bottle in the nearest park. It scared us at the time because she had essentially refused to breastfeed within days of being born and we didn't know what we'd do if bottles stopped too. But we kept trying different things and the phase has passed, for now at least.

There's a little rubber ring inside the bottom cap on the mam bottles. You have to make sure it's pushed down all the way when you put the bottle together.

I love mam bottles. Never experienced leaking. Are you making sure to have the white disc tightly fitting on the bottom. That’s the only time I’ve had it leak when I forgot to put that in

I bought a few MAM bottles and now have a strict rule: any new bottles purchased must contain no more than three pieces.

It was the only bottle my combo fed daughter was able to drink from. I recommend have a few of each type of bottle on hand. My daughter would spend 20-30 minutes and only get .5 ounce out of other bottles (Nuk, dr Browns, Phillips avent)

I did combi feeding with MAM bottles because that's the bottles that I had from when I had my first - had no issues with them!

We used the Mam bottles pretty much the entire time with our 28 weeker. We also liked the sterilization feature of them. They have a few different sizes of nipple too.

I've used only Mam bottles with my 6month old since she was born and have never had one leak. I have zero experience with the Dr Brown nipple sizes but my 6mos is just switching from Mam size 2 to 3.

I really like Mam bottles (we tried those, lanisoh, and nuk). Everyone I know who has tried them likes them best too. I use size 1 nipples. At first we used 0/premie.

Try them. I happily recommend. Brilliant. The one downside is the that scale is very approximate. Do not use the scale on the bottle for measuring water for powdered formula. Ours consistently read high, meaning less water, meaning very solid poos! We measured water by weighing on a small digital scale, like you see in fancy coffee shops. You get used to taking apart and cleaning. Microwave self-sterilising was great for us. Use the top of the body in reverse as a tool to push the rubber seal down. Check the teat size, especially if gifted from someone with an older child who might have been using a larger one. Numbers are on the teat collar or count the number of ridges inside the teat: size 1 = one ridge. Bonus: the 250ml bottles are great for sterilising medicine syringes at the same time, smaller 180ml (actually 200ml exactly) are good for dummies/pacifiers. Also: we used a permanent marker on the outside of the cap to make a line at the right sterilising water level. One less thing to think about, and easier to fill without the lights on full. After a while the marker washed off but we had it by feel by that point.

With my first, I tried a bunch of bottles because I got so many samples and the mam was easily my baby’s favorite. With my second, I started with the mam right away and she took to it immediately. I love that it has so many different nipple sizes too, I recommend mam to everyone!

MAM pacifiers led us to MAM bottles and they were the only ones my babies could use. The flat nipple allowed them to latch without their mouth being as wide.

They were the only ones that worked for my daughter! It's worth trying a couple. It really varies from baby to baby.

We got mam because we'd heard this, but my babies latch on mam bottles was awful, and it affected his latch on me. He does much better with TT bottles.

That's a bit misleading I guess ... It just means you can sterilize then without a steriliser! You put them together in a certain way with 20ml of water and then zap in the microwave for 3 mins and they stay sterile like that for 48 hours. It's really handy for us because we mostly breastfeed so can sterilize the bottles one at a time on demand

We have been using MAM religiously for 12 months, we have nothing bad to say about them, they are amazing! They can also be sanitised by themselves in the microwave.

Another vote for MAM, none of mine (mostly bf) would take a tt bottle as the teat is a totally different shape to a human nipple. There were other problems with them as well, I honestly don’t know how they’re so popular, I found them terrible. And once you’ve found one that accidentally rolled under a car seat and the milk went manky, you really appreciate being able to take the bottom off and clean everything properly. Or maybe that’s just me.

LOL this is exactly what worked for us. Lansinoh natural wave nipples on the MAM bottle, heated until very warm. Baby wants nothing to do with lukewarm milk 🙃

My kids both have tongue ties so we use mam bottles. I dunno. Every kid is different. To the “you’re gonna take Dr brown and like it” dad… you never watched your child choke on bottle after bottle after bottle. We did a tie release on my first but never fucking again. What an awful and traumatizing experience

My boy only tolerates MAM. A friend of mine recommended them after her baby loved them, and now mine loves them too. We tried everything under the Sun I think: Chicco, Dr Brown’s, Avent, Tommee Tippee, and nothing compared to MAM for us!

Useless for us, not anti colic at all. You could hear the air! Switched to Dr Brown that so many people recommended and we stupidly ignored.

Our lactation consultant recommended the MAM bottles and we like them a lot. More important than bottle I think though is how you feed. You should do paced feeding when bottle feeding so baby still has to suck to get milk out of the bottle and not just have it drip into their mouth. That will help prevent baby getting a preference for the faster flow of a bottle. Our LC also recommended using a smaller nipple size, so we used premie/0 for a while and are still only using size 1 now (she’s 5 months)

Yes about the teat sizes!! We bought a sample pack, and as a FTM didn’t even think about teat sizes - could not figure out why she was taking some bottles happily and others were a nightmare with milk everywhere - turns out we were basically waterboarding our newborn with a too fast teat half the time! 😂😂

This worked at daycare with warm milk and bottle type & MAM bottle. but i literally just had to start work and hope for the best , tried everything and she wasn’t budging until she was in daycare. I cried I hired lactation consultant… was so stressed but her daycare was amazing and made it happen. She was 4 months old.

My breastfed babies have both loved the MAM bottles when they've had bottles, we pace feed no bother! I'd recommend not getting too many bottles before baby is here as they all like different things!

YES! We finally got it figured out this week. Baby started refusing at 4 months. Almost at 6 months. We got the MAM bottles (the nipples are flat like how my baby does my nipples) and she LOVED it, took right to it. It got so bad I was at daycare feeding her 😞 now she just takes the bottle and all is right with the world. Hope it works for you!! Keep being patient and keep trying! I know it's hard and you need a break. I get it, trust me. It'll happen!

This is great to know. I just bought some MAM bottles on the recommendation of my midwife and am hoping they work out. Baby is only 1.5 weeks, so I’ll wait a little bit longer before introducing them.

The best baby bottle is the one YOUR baby will take 😅 That being said, our little girl will only latch onto mam bottles. We’ve tried her on Dr. Browns, Avent natural & Tommy Tippee. She did OKAY on the first two, but absolutely loathed the TT. Babies are weird 🤷🏻‍♀️

She’s my 5th baby and they are definitely the best bottles I have used, the cute bit is just a bonus! I don’t like the teat shape of the TT ones personally.

I was told by a doctor that apparently anti colic bottles are a marketing tactic and that there’s no such thing as an anti colic bottle. Not sure how true that is. However, different bottles work for different babies. We tried a NUK anti colic bottle, the dr browns bottles and the MAAM bottles. Hated the NUK, dr browns makes him choke on the long nipple and he loves the MAAM. I like the self sanitation option. When I was at my dad’s for a dinner I was able to wash the bottle quick sanitizer it in the microwave and serve him another bottle in it. I guess they’d be handy for travel or camping with that option! I’ve heard good things about the Phillip advent bottles from people as well.

They’re the only ones my little guy would take but I love them anyways so win win! I love how much they break down and that they’re kind of “modular”. You can get bottle pieces from a few ounces to I think 12oz? And the parts work for them all. Also I bought a set that has a transitional sippy nipple and handles for when baby is ready to feed himself or take other liquids. I also like how a number of the sets come with pacifiers and those are the only ones my baby will take too.
