I bought a generic, safe and comfy looking bouncer for my second baby coming soon, in dollars it was probably about $30. Did the same for my first baby and I passed it on to a friend when he outgrew it, that one was fisher price but basically the same as what we got now. Honestly if it’s safe and serves the same purpose, I don’t see the need to splurge unless money isn’t a factor.

We have a $30 Fisher Price bouncer that we could not live without, honestly. Our baby is 11 weeks and I’m with him solo most days, and the bouncer is where I can plop him when I need to do some dishes, use the bathroom etc. He can’t sit up on his own yet and does not consistently tolerate being placed on his back and left to his own devices, but he never minds sitting in the bouncer for a few minutes. Plus the bouncer is lightweight enough that I can carry it anywhere in my house with one hand while I’m holding him. Also, it helps him poop :)

We did not get one and I’ll tell you our fisher price bouncer was… okay. It never fit his body the right way and he was constantly slamming his heels into a metal bar and eventually plastic. Because of that he never worked towards bouncing himself so his tolerance for the chair was limited to a handful of minutes. It was curved in a way that he always slumped uncomfortably in it and eventually I learned to roll a towel into a supportive seat for him in the chair. Finally the slip cover could only come off if you disassembled the whole thing. It only served its purpose as a place to put baby down for a minute (like pee really fast minute, not like fold the laundry minutes). So if the Björn bouncer actually exceeds all these criteria then I would get that instead.

I have both. Baby liked them for different reasons. He rested more and better in the bjorn, and was more chill. He was more entertained in the FP. The baby bjorn was a life saver for him as a 1-4 month old. The fisher price worked better 3-6 months. We got both as hand me downs. My real parenting pro tip is get as much as you can used. All this stuff is hit and miss, and dependent on the baby. And even if baby likes it, it’s probably going to be the most important object in your life for no more than 2 months.

So I didn't buy mine new but got it for half off from a consignment store. The frame is much sturdier and the fabric seat of the baby Bjorn is designed better than the Bright Starts bouncer I bought off Amazon for my parents' house. The Baby Bjorn holds them better and can be more accommodating for a longer baby. I found the bright starts bouncer to be more shallow and not as sturdy. The folding flat feature is also excellent if you don't have a ton of space or if you bring the bouncer with you. I will say that our favorite bouncer is one that is no longer made by Fisher Price that I got off of Facebook Marketplace. It was taller and deeper and had vibration and sounds. My son never fell asleep in bouncers so I was comfortable using it as he was always awake and never unattended.

The poop help is so underrated. We also have a fisher price one and we called ours the poop chair. I was so sad when he grew out of it.

Twin mom here! Yes, it is. We had one Babybjorn (bought off FB marketplace) and a swing. Both my twins hated the swing. I caved and bought a new Babybjorn bouncer shortly after. We traveled and used a Fischer price bouncer and did it work yes. But it was more for containment. I’m not sure if they necessarily liked being in that bouncer though.

This is the best $30 I've spent. My LO loves hanging out in it while I shower, cook, eat - you name it. Sometimes the inexpensive thing does the trick.

I bought a cheaper fisher Price bouncer and I leave it in the bathroom for when I am showering or I have to go! We also have a swing in the kitchen I use for when I'm eating, but the rest of the day baby is on me or on the floor. People swear by it but if you don't want to use it much I wouldnt spend all the money on the baby Bjorn, just get a forty dollar one.

We had a cheap fisher price bouncer that I won at a raffle when I was pregnant with my oldest and it lasted me through both kids. They LOVED it. My SIL gave me a 2nd bjorn for my second and we still just ended up using the fisher price.

I second all the things this poster said. Also my LO struggled with lots of spit up/maybe some reflux early on so I liked to put her in the bouncer after feedings if she didn't want to be held. Would also use for face to face story time so she could watch me while I read to her (heard this was good somewhere). She never cared for her swing (unless it was stationary) so the bouncer was very helpful.

When our baby was first born we used a fisher price bouncer, and she loved it way more! We did end up using the baby bjorn but it wasnt a must have for us

I’m not sure the baby bjorn is “better” per se but I do like that it seems bouncier and a bit more comfy lol overall though, if it hadn’t been gifted to us we would’ve just used our old fisher price and been fine with it. I definitely wouldn’t pay full price or probably even $150 for one. I’d look for some cheaper dupes. My sister used the Baby Delight one that someone else mentioned and her baby loved it.

Yeah I had that one and the bjorn. The bjorn was so much better. The base on the fisher price one had such a small footprint and it felt a little sketchy. Like it could knock over. The bjorn has a larger footprint but feels very sturdy because of it. And has adjustable angles which was nice as she grew. Definitely recommend if you ever need another! Easy to take apart. That other one was such a pain. I see them second hand all the time.

I have a fisher price one as well and my 3 week old loves it. I can put him in it and bounce him with my foot if I need to attend to something (I.e. the other day I had a zoom call, but he was fussy and wanted to be held. The bouncer was perfect it seems to soothe him). It’s just one of many tools you can use to keep yourself sane. I also have a maxi cosi rocker that we keep by the bathroom in case I need to shower - I can pop him in it and just keep an eye on him while I grab a quick shower. Honestly these few moments of “me-time” are what’s keeping me sane. If I left him on the floor not only would he be screaming but I’d be so worried about where he’d roll or what he’d get into. At least this way I know he’s strapped in and safe.
