Cybex Sirona S
The Cybex Sirona S is a convertible car seat designed for children from birth up to 65 pounds, featuring a 360-degree rotating base for easy access. It can be used in both rear-facing and forward-facing positions, with a focus on safety and convenience.
Pros (+)
- Safety ratings are highly praised
- Rotating feature simplifies getting kids in and out
- Compatible with previous Cybex bases
Cons (−)
- Installation is complicated and frustrating
- No cup holders, which some parents miss
- Can be bulky and take up a lot of space
Why parents like it
The rotating feature makes it easier to get kids in and out of the car, which many parents find invaluable. Its strong safety ratings are also frequently highlighted as a major selling point.
Common complaints
Installation is often described as complicated, with some parents finding it the hardest they've encountered. Additionally, the absence of cup holders is a common disappointment among users.
Parents who prioritize safety and want a rotating car seat for easier access. The tradeoff is the complex installation and lack of some convenient features.
Consider the Cybex Sirona S for its safety and rotating design, but be prepared for a challenging installation process.

Thread: "Is a cybex (rotating) car seat worth it?"
Are you talking about the toddler stage? IMO, yes compared with the Maxi Cosi Titan, but that's because the Cybex Sirona can stay rear facing. It's much safer to rear face so it's very good to have that functionality. Also if you look at the actual crash testing of the Maxi Cosi Titan it doesn't do very well despite the isofix and top tether. (Which? or ADAC who do the actual crash testing and then sell them to Which). It's worth doing a bit of research into the benefits of extended rear facing before you choose a seat. The spinning is really nice and helps you tighten the straps much more easily and this is good whether you rear face or forward face, particularly through the tantrum years, although it becomes somewhat obsolete once your child is about age 2/3 and can climb into the seat by themselves. The Cybex isn't my favourite one though. Joie have a few cheaper spinning seats, or Britax Dualfix is a similar price to the Cybex and is nicer IMO. I find the Cybex is a bit clunky with the rotate mechanism and it doesn't recline very much so it's really no good for tilted seats. If you get really into the idea of rear facing then you can even purchase rear facing seats which go up to 25kg, which will accommodate a bigger child for longer but are also just more comfortable and better set up in general, taking up less space in the car despite being taller and having more leg room/space for the child as well, as they can be installed sitting a little distance from the backseat making a space for feet. For example Britax Max Way Plus is £215 in a lot of places at the moment so in between the two seats you're currently looking at. They don't spin but they do have fairly low sides so easy to get the child in and out. If your child is on a higher centile then they might outgrow a seat up to "4 years" (and the harnessed mode in the up to 12 seats) by the time they are age 3 or even younger if they are above the 90th centile line. So it's worth thinking about that. In this case it can be worth investing in a seat that allows the harnessing up to 25kg, whichever way around that is. If you don't want to rear face the whole 25kg I'd look at BabyAuto Dupla or Maxi Cosi Beryl. The seats up to age 12 (aka "1-2-3 seats") can be a bit of a false economy in my opinion, even though they are cheaper than a lot of the 0-4 years seats. If you use as a harnessed seat from age 1-4 and then a booster seat from age 4-12, then you're using it as a booster seat for about 3x as long, but these combination seats make very bulky boosters, really heavy and awkward and they don't always get a great seatbelt fit for children. This seems counterproductive to me, since one of the great benefits once your child is old enough to move into a high backed booster seat is that the seats get much lighter, more flexible, less bulky, more practical, and since their ONLY job is to route the seatbelt you want them to do it well - it seems a bit silly to me to choose one that's none of those things just because you can use it from a bit younger. And the combination seats don't perform as well on crash testing (generally) as the ones which do one stage each. The exception/place for these seats IMO is when you need to boot an older toddler (age 3 ish) out of their harnessed seat for a new baby but you don't feel the older one is yet mature enough to go into a seatbelt, then the 1-2-3 seats can be really good as you get the benefit of the harness for that last 6-12 months and can then continue to use it as a booster seat, but for a child just coming out of their infant seat I'd focus on the stage up to 18kg or 25kg and then get a booster seat after that. The nice part is that booster seats are much cheaper anyway. You can get a decent one for under £50 and an excellent one for under £100. If you're set on forward facing, I would strongly recommend choosing a seat that only covers that harnessed stage, 9-18kg or 15 months - 105cm, and then getting a separate high backed booster seat later once they outgrow that. You could look at some cheaper models - Maxi Cosi Axiss, Maxi Cosi Tobi, Maxi Cosi Priori SPS all perform better than any 123 seat in crash testing, and are under your £135 budget. Or if you wanted to spend a bit more for a really high performing one (or particularly wanted isofix) then you've got Britax Duo Plus, Britax Trifix, Maxi Cosi Tobifix or Maxi Cosi Milofix.
Thread: "Analysis paralysis on which rotating convertible car seat to buy"
Hi. I’ve been working in this industry over 20 years and I’m a child passenger safety technician certified in multiple countries. So obviously I have some thoughts lol. These are actually both excellent seats. If you’re looking for a length of use, Evenflo is going to last much longer. They also have a version with a quick clean feature that is excellent. Cybex made the Callisto a solid seat, I cannot say the same for the Sirona when it came to North America, but the Callisto is good. And while these are two different companies, you also need to understand that the parent company of both of them is the same. Good Baby. Cybex made a beautiful seat, but personally I would never base my car seat selection solely on aesthetics. Just know that whichever one of these you choose you’ve made a solid choice. And if you want another one to throw into the mix that is also excellent, the baby jogger city turn does not get the credit it deserves. And if you are not in a rush, you might want to wait on the Britax galaxy. I have a video about it on my feed.

If you're on Instagram, safeintheseat has a review of the two seats on her highlights. It's listed as 'Swivel seats'. It's pretty thorough.
Thread: "Is a cybex (rotating) car seat worth it?"
If you’re happy to spend that much I would recommend an Axkid Minikid tbh. Both the seats you’ve mentioned only rear face to 18kg, the Axkid would go to 25kg and depending on their centile kids can get too heavy for the seats before the age the manufacturers quote (they assume a 50th centile kid). The Minikid is one of the safest car seats you can buy and it has some nice little features like self adjusting headrest so it’s always the perfect height. In terms of how easy they are to use - the 25kg seats typically have lower sides than the 18kg seats so are pretty easy to get the kids in and out of, but obviously the swivel seats will be the easiest of the lot. If you do want a swivel seat but don’t want to spend that much, there’s also the Joie Spin seat.
Thread: "Cybex Sirona car seat opinions"
Canadian CPST here. Certified with CPSAC (Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada) First, double check your son hasn’t outgrown the Mesa already. This seat is notorious for being outgrown super early (right around 5-6 months) because you need to maintain 1” of clearance above his head on the headrest, BUT you also need to keep the harness straps below the shoulders. What ends up happening is to keep the 1” rule, parents need to move the headrest up and by doing so the harness ends up above the shoulders. And then the seat is outgrown. Secondly, NO I do not recommend the Cybex Sirona 360. In fact I don’t know a single tech who does. There are CPSTs that were sponsored to write reviews of this seat, who refused to publish because it was just that bad and they could not recommend them. For a tall guy but without knowing your vehicle, I’d recommend the Graco Extend2Fit (regular, not platinum) It is the most compact seat front to back with the highest rear facing limits in Canada. It installs nicely in nearly every vehicle, and is easy to use. Feel free to ask if you have other questions.
Thread: "Cybex Sirona S SensorSafe Convertible Seat [BC]"
The rotation feature sounds great in theory but I haven't seen a single car seat tech in the Facebook groups I'm in recommend the Sirona. Here's a quote from one: >CPST >All seats undergo the same testing and it is pass fail, so all seats available for sale in Canada are safe... IF they are installed and used safely. >BUT >Every tech I know of who has used this seat has said it is terrible. One said it was incompatible in 4 of 5 vehicles she tried it in. Another was sponsored to review it and wouldn't even publish because it was so bad 😬 >The [Evenflo] Revolve is slightly better, but I don’t know if it would fit a newborn well. In general rotating seats aren't often recommended except to compensate for mobility issues. They tend to take up a lot of space relative to how long they fit real-life children, and there can be issues with the rotating mechanism and cleaning access. *SEATS For Kids Discussion Community* is a good Canada-based group to check out on FB. You can lurk and search your vehicle for recommendations without posting if you prefer.

Evenflo revolve 360. Super easy to mount the base. Feels very secure. Seat rotates within the base so you can turn the seat to the side to load/unload the baby. Look into it. Avoid the cybex sirona S. Too fussy when it comes to installation. Also no cupholders
Thread: "what’s your favorite rotating car seat?"
Got the Graco one after a very unfortunate vomit incident in a cybex Sirona which also spins. Love the Graco!
Thread: "Skipping the infant car seat"
Came here to add that a travel system can have a baby car seat cover on it. I’m about to have baby 2 in October - right at the start of cold and flu season. This will help keep germs off my fragile newborn AND it will keep strangers at bay. I can’t tell you how many creepy random old people still try to approach my 2 year old when she’s in the shopping cart with me - even when I am standing right in front of her I have literally gotten weird random hands reaching for “awww such a pretty baby” Sir kindly back the F away from me and my kid!
Thread: "Please just tell me what car seat to buy"
We have a Cybex Sirona. We stuck with Cybex since our first seat for our newborn, and if I remember correctly, the base is compatible. Having the ability to turn the seat sideways is also super helpful but I don’t know if the newer model allow you to turn the seat to face forward if you need to for whatever reason.
Thread: "Car Seats (newborn to 4yo) - completely lost"
We loved our cybex iCloud for the newborn days. It lays flat on the pram, so convenient, and easy to get in and out of our Toyota Aygo. It states up to 13kg/16 months so we were expecting a lot more wear out of it. Yet here we are with a 97th centile baby looking for the next seat at 9MO. We’ve decided against the sirona as because she’s so large the annoyance of the ‘lift and spin’ to get the full 360 is already proving difficult. There was a great [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/UKParenting/comments/xwkpgd/360_seats/ir7leff/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) on another thread that we looked at and are going to use. Ideally we need a 360 seat because of our small car so I’ve just resigned myself to the fact that we’ll buy one that will probably only last us another 1.5-2 years, it’s cheaper than buying a new car! You might find that the cybex or similar would suit you until you’re ready to front face, or you don’t need the 360 function when you’re just putting baby in car, not baby & seat.
Thread: "Is a cybex (rotating) car seat worth it?"
How many kids or cars do you have to know this much about different car seat brands? 😄
Thread: "[sk] Cybex Sirona 360"
I don’t own it but it’s not CPST recommended, to the point that it was incompatible with 5/6 vehicles tested and the other tech wouldn’t even write a review. If you want to read more about it and you have Facebook, I highly recommend the Seats for kids discussion group!
Thread: "how good is Graco 4Ever DLX Grad car seat? or would you recommend us something else? my baby is 6 months old almost 7"
They’re mostly fine. I don’t really like the sensor safe clip and I once installed a sirona and it was by far the hardest installation I’ve ever done. But it was a few years ago so they might have redesigned it since then. I like that their infant seats have load legs and the European belt path. The only seats I personally don’t like are anything by uppababy and the doona.
Thread: "Car seat recommendations? "
I love the Cybex rotating one. My 4yo is still able to fit rear facing in it.
Thread: "Anyone else’s 4yo still in a rear facing car seat?"
If you front face with the Sirona, you cannot use the spin feature on the car seat any longer. The hook that anchors behind the seat needs to be attached and it makes it so you can no longer spin (this is why we got the evenflo 360 after investing in the sirona - and it still hurts because of the price of the darn Sirona).

Mines finally started to climb into ours! Not a chanfe he could in a spin, he would hit his head getting in everyone.
Thread: "Best Swivel Car seats"
We've got the Nuna Revv (new regulations came out recently and new seats are 30lb max rear facing) which I love and the Cybex Sirona. I prefer the Revv, but if I was buying new I'd probably go with the new Cybex rotating seat because they updated a lot of the things I don't love about the Sirona.
Thread: "Nuna Revv vs Cybex Sirona"
Here is a comparison of all rotating car seats: https://carseatblog.com/56503/rotatingcarseatscomparison/ We ended up going with the Evenflo. The Sirona is finicky and can’t spin fully when forward facing because of the tether. It also has low rear facing limits due to the shorter back. I personally love having a rotating car seat but they do have lower limits for extended rear facing.
Thread: "Cybex Sirona S vs. Evenflo Revolve 360"
That's super helpful! thank you. 7 months later and it's still hard to find comparisons on these 2 seats.
Thread: "Analysis paralysis on which rotating convertible car seat to buy"
Done. Cybex has some of the best ratings. That’s where I’d go.
Thread: "Which car seat do you have and what do you like/dislike about it?"
I have the cybex sirona s, the Chicco fit360, and 2 Graco slim fits. My fave is the chicco. It’s so easy to swivel and looks way nicer than the cybex. The cybex has an app that warns you of the temp and I think reminds you to get your kid but the alerts were constant and honestly annoying. I turned it off. The cybex has a support leg that supposedly makes it safer but now you can really put larger things on the floor where the Carseat is. The slim fits are our travel car seats and they’re ok. They’re good for that they need to be - inexpensive and light so they’re easy to travel with.
Thread: "What is your favorite All In One Carseat? "
Diono’s are super easy to install incorrectly because there’s so many rules and bits that change depending on baby and which way it faces and though it’s narrow it takes up a lot of space back to front and is not adjustable so something to keep in mind. Getting the fabric on and off was such a big pita and you aren’t allowed to wash the cushion in the washer which when your kid pees like a race horse becomes a problem. I’ve had Nuna, Diono, graco, chicco (myfit for forward facing) and cybex sirona s. Nuna and chicco myfit I liked best but wish I went with clek Cybex I couldn’t use safely at some point because the harness couldn’t come from below and the headrest be at proper level. The base also split. My kids prefer sitting in the Nuna and kiddo also loves the chicco myfit. Little one screams in the graco every single time. It’s just not comfortable
Thread: "Please just tell me what car seat to buy"
I love the chicco nextfit zip! If you live somewhere warm, get the “Air” version. It has a nice mesh fabric to help with airflow. It fit my 3 year old who is in the upper 80%ile, was easy to install, and the zip off cover is easy to wash and dries quickly!
Thread: "Please just tell me what car seat to buy"
We did the same (Cybex Cloud is the 0-24mths seat). The swivel seat makes it so easy. The Sirona fits the same base and can face both ways. We've just bought another base so we can reuse the Cloud seat for our newborn From what I remember, when we bought the seat originally it had a very high safety rating and even though it was pricey, we thought safety was the most important factor for a car seat. Everything else I'm prepared to skimp on (and insist on it when it comes to things like clothes that they soon grow out of), but there's so many lunatics on the roads
Thread: "Car seat recommendations? "
Is that sirona? We have cloud z2 at the moment and i feel like our 4month old will be growing out of the cloud one soon so we’re debating whether to go with sirona and cut loses on the base and get something else
Thread: "Indecision about Convertible Car Seats"
Is Cybex Sirona something you would consider, and available in your area?
Thread: "Cybex Sirona S vs. Evenflo Revolve 360"
I don't have either but I heard they take up a lot of room rear facing. You should check to see if it fits your car. I heard the rotation piece is prone to jamming ( I think it's the evenflo)
Thread: "Is a cybex (rotating) car seat worth it?"
How big is your kid? Cybex Sirona is up to 18kg, which is fine if you have an average or light baby. My kiddo is on the 75th percentile and about 17kg at 2.5yrs old. I don’t think she would get much use out of a rotating seat I’d invest in something that goes up to higher kg limits, so that you just have to buy a booster seat later. I’m not 100% sure on the maxicosi, but my joie every stage goes up to 18kg in harnessed and then using the seatbelt, so I face putting my 2.5yr old in a car seat with just a seatbelt (easily escapable and not as safe). Britax Advansafix is harnessed to 22kg I think? Rotating is good if you have back problems, but I’ve never had one, and never had a problem getting my kid in a car!
Thread: "Analysis paralysis on which rotating convertible car seat to buy"
The Cybex does! It’s actually a very pretty one lol. But if you get the select model (the more basic model), you have to buy it separately.
Thread: "Question on car seat / travel system"
Yeah, you want an infant carrier style car seat for babies. That's the one with the handle that clips on a stroller. Most babies won't get a good fit in the bigger carseats until they're about 6 months despite the fact they're marketed from 0. You can go all out on a baby carrier and have a rotating one that cost 550, and it might last 2 years or you can get a cheaper one (130) and just seat belt it in for the 6 months approx and then if it's annoying you, get a rotating seat to do them up until approx age 4. I have a cloud z that I love, that I got from a friend. She probably paid 550 for it. Im planning to get the Cybex Sirona GI when he outgrows it. That's about 295, but it's small for a rotating seat and has a higher weight limit than most. I probably wouldn't have paid the 550, and maybe I would have been grand not knowing any better, but I found it so so convenient I'd probably pay it if I have more kids.
Thread: "what’s your favorite rotating car seat?"
You didn’t ask me but I also have one and love it. Online it says: 21.7 inches in length, 19.5 inches in width, and 25.5 to 35 inches in height, according to the CYBEX Online Shop. The seat weighs 35 lbs I will say that it does take up a lot of room. I drive a newer MDX and have to move the passenger seat pretty far forward. Can still have a passenger seated comfortably but they can’t really recline. Worth considering depending on the size of your vehicle.
Thread: "Big baby car seats... Looking for recommendations!"
We went with the Cybex Sirona S. It’s a revolving seat and has the best safety ratings of the revolving ones. It’s a BITCH to install but oh my goodness we love it. So comfy and it’s rear facing to 50lb. As someone with arthritis and a bad back the swivel function is a 10/10. So much easier to load and u load my girthy boy.

Hi! Would you still recomend this? Our babes is 99 percentile for height and I really wanted a revolving seat and was looking into cybex 😊

Thread: "Toddler car seat recommendations? Overwhelmed by options!"
I think one that spins helps a lot especially in tight spaces. We have the cybex one and love it. My husband did a lot of research. I haven't heard of Axkid but I did not do the research. We have a Britax for the older one. It is really good.
Thread: "What car seats are you using for your 2 year olds and 4 year olds?"
I have the cybex sirona gi for my 2yo. Shes low centiles so should last her until she’s ready for a high backed booster.
Thread: "Infant Seat vs Convertible Car Seat"
I am one who skipped the infant car seat. We got the Cybex Sirona, one for each car. It works for us as we don't go a lot of places that require us to keep baby in the seat and we either wear him or put him in the stroller we got when we do go places. Financially it worked best for us and our lifestyle. We also don't live in a state that gets cold/snows so having baby in a warm seat wasn't an issue for us. I know some people who said they regretted not having the infant seat in cold climates because they'd have to undress baby to put them in the seat properly.
Thread: "Cybex Sirona S rotating car seat"
I wish I did. But it can be done! Remember, it's German made, if you can't figure it out then just try something different. Everything has a purpose.
Thread: "Cybex Sirona S rotating car seat"
Overpriced junk. Hard to rotate. A bar can flip up and permanently stick the seat forward.
