Swivel seats are nice for getting your kid in and out, but they’re not always great for saving space, especially rear-facing. If that’s a concern, skipping the swivel might be better. The Britax one’s a solid pick — not tiny, but fits well in smaller cars. It grows with your kid and the ClickTight install makes switching between cars it's super easy.
Thread: "I’m Overwhelmed With Infant Car seats. FTM"
If you live in a cold climate, an infant bucket seat is great because the seat comes in the house when not in use and stays warm (since only the base is in the car). I enjoyed the convenience of being able to put the seat on the ground when we were waiting at the doctor's office, using the toilet after baby group, etc. We used it for about a year. We got a basic Graco one - I'm in Canada and car seat regulations are quite strict so I'm satisfied that anything on the market has met or exceeded safety standards. We now have a Britax convertible that should last until my kiddo is 5-6 years old. Previously, we had a Cosco convertible because we had a super small car and that's what would fit after he outgrew the infant seat.

Britax Clicktight models are amazingly easy to install safely, and most have machine washable/tumble dry capable covers.
Thread: "Really easy to install car seats?"
Britax brand with ‘click tight’ has been very straight forward and easy for us to install. You just loop the belt through the designated spots, push the seat down and when it clicks, it’s tighter than you could ever get the seatbelt by itself

We love our britax seats! We've had the willow brook, boulevard and one4life and they're all great
Thread: "Rear Facing dilemma"
This comment from a previously asked post has a lot of good research linked: https://www.reddit.com/r/ScienceBasedParenting/s/Daz1fkuTsB My husband (6’ 3”) and I (5’ 10”) are also relatively tall and share a small sedan. We have a britax car seat installed behind the passenger seat so the driver can have maximum leg room. We did have to move the passenger seat up a bit to get a good install but it’s still very comfortable for both of us.
Thread: "Diono Radian 3R car seats. The last 10 years which is way longer than an average car seat. They are comfortable for the kids and for the adults sitting next to the seat. They are relatively lightweigh, airplane approved and foldable. Newborn to 10 years. Love it"
Radians have a metal frame. Typically, the ten year seats do. (Like the Britax click tight seats!) Six years from the DOM is the standard for most. I know the infant seat I had for one of my teens was five years from date of purchase, but I’ve never seen one shorter than that.
Thread: "how good is Graco 4Ever DLX Grad car seat? or would you recommend us something else? my baby is 6 months old almost 7"
I personally remember really liking the britax brand because the Click Tight feature made accurate installation a breeze. This meant that my husband or mom could get a seat installed in their cars the first try and it was a good install. The weight limits for the latch system are pretty low so many more years were spent using a buckle installation the latch install.

This! My MIL is really big into consumer reports and Britax was 3 out of the top 4. I think ours is the boulevard
Thread: "Car Seats (newborn to 4yo) - completely lost"
a 360 seat is super bulky and you will find in a smaller car that a 25kg ERF seat will take up much less room. You should look at the Axkid Minikid or Britax Max Way Plus especially if you have a 97th centile child as they will need a high harness limit so they can rear face to safe forward facing games (4.5y)
Thread: "Convertible Car Seat Recos"
The Fllo will likely not fit in your Fit, if it does the front seat will be unusable. You’d absolutely need a compact seat like any of the graco convertibles. The extend 2 fit has some of the longest RF limits. It is wide but in a Honda Fit the middle seat is pretty much unusable anyway so I wouldn’t be very worried about the width. I have a britax boulevard and a Graco extended to fit in 2 compact cars (one being a Hyundai accent so similar in size to the Fit) and though the britax feels more luxe my baby is equally happy in both. My husband actually prefers the Graco in terms of tightening and fit. All car seats in Canada pass the same safety ratings so some may have more safety features. The cup holders on the Graco are the anti rebound system.
Thread: "5 months pregnant, just found out 3 car seats will not fit in my CUV. Can’t afford a bigger car. Freaking out "
we’ve got 3 under 2 (in april) so they all need to rear face. we ended up having to buy new seats but it’s cheaper than a new car. britax poplar for our (almost) 2 year old, and britax willows for the twins. all 17” across and fit in my equinox. DO NOT GET DIONO! they’re clunky front to back, and they change their installs SO OFTEN it’s so tricky to do it right. get the graco slimfit lx3, it’s the same width but not a pain in the rear brand to deal with and install.

I love love the Britax "click tight" feature. So so so easy to install! I looked at the new Poplar model but ended up getting a Marathon on sale.
Thread: "Recommendations for an easy to install and remove car seat?"
We're a britax family. We've used an Endeavor, a Boulevard, and a One4Life. The ClickTight system is super easy for my MIL to use and she is seriously bad at everything. Nice lady but damn. She tried to get this neck massager working and she put AAA batteries in it. It took AA batteries. It was so obvious that they didn't fit.
Thread: "Please just tell me what car seat to buy"
I like the Britax Clicktight Marathon. It's easy to install, easy to clean and it's still comfy when my 5 year old is in his.
Thread: "Toddler car seat recommendations"
I have a Britax advocate Clicktight. The Clicktight system is soooo easy to install and uninstall out of the car. It’s self tensioning and has built in lock offs. It should be the same system on other Britax seats that have Clicktight. My recommendation would be to go to a baby’s store (like buy buy baby) and test out the seats. Some of those stores let you test fit in your car. Secondary recommendation would be to check out Safe in the Seat on Instagram, as they have lots of recommendations and guidelines for picking the best seat for you (though most of the detailed info is in their kits you have to buy, some of the general info is available on the page if you dig)

Thread: "Is Extended Rear Facing all a load of scaremongering?"
Are you not having to lift your toddler in whichever way they face? Or they climb in, again whichever way they are facing. Spinning seats aren’t exactly the cheapest options either. (That’s not intended as a dig btw, but either you lift your child or they climb, it’s always a bit awkward to lift them but ‘I DO IT MYSELF!’ is also infuriating…) You don’t need a big car - I have ERF seats in my fiesta and there’s still room for driving. A bigger car is tempting for boot space etc rather than space for seats My eldest is 5 3/4 and has only just grown out of his RF seat, due to height rather than weight - I feel that we’ve got our moneys worth out of that one. We had britax seats, fairly basic compared to some of what is available - eg head rests move up/down only when adult moves them up a notch - so not as ludicrously expensive as eg axkids. For us, that felt like a reasonable compromise - they would RF as long as we could, but that it would be around 5ish rather than 7ish (going on percentiles)
Thread: "Struggling to pick a convertible car seat - worth it to spend more or less?"
Things that we considered when purchasing our convertible seat were: life span (didn't want a short expiration date), extended rear facing, high weight and height limit for forward facing, and most importantly - how it fit in our vehicle. We ended up going with the Britax Boulevard. It's good for 10 years, rear facing to 40lbs or 49 inches, forward facing to 65lbs or 49 inches, and it fits great in our vehicle without compromising space in the front seats. It makes sense to me to spend good money on the long term car seat because it gets a ton of use, and could literally save your child's life. It isn't something to cheap out on, in my opinion. All seats must meet the minimum safety standards, but some seats have additional features that the budget seats don't have, like anti rebound bars, or steel frames.
Thread: "car seat decision"
Foonf is rated pretty poorly by consumer reports for ease of installation and use 1/5 to 3/5. 49 out of 100 points for combo of crash rating and ease of installation. Britax boulevard is rated 84/100 by consumer reports and has highest crash protection rating and 4/5 or better for all installation methods. Strong vote for the Britax boulevard, easy proper installation is so important to overall safety in a crash situation.
Thread: "Rear-facing vs forward-facing "
You wanna know what’s *not* fun? Internal decapitation or lifelong spine problems. If it’s about your child being able to see where you’re going, consider a car seat mirror (I prefer Britax since that one is approved for use with their car seats). I know that’s still not particularly preferred in the car seat safety world, but I’d take the smaller risk of using a mirror over the risk of forward facing earlier than necessary.
Thread: "IamA Car Seat Safety Expert AMA!"
I hear you. This is one of the areas manufacturers have been working on for years. The LATCH system was designed to be easier than seat belt installations, as it takes less force (and thought) to correctly install. Different manufacturers are trying different things. Britax has a "ClickTight" system that's designed to make seat belt installations very easy, and I'm a fan of that too. But in general, I'd go with LATCH if you want a simpler experience or a seat belt if you have the patience to do so. Watch YouTube videos for your particular model or for car seats in general. You're looking for 1" or less of movement at the base of the seat in any direction.
Thread: "Please just tell me what car seat to buy"
I find the Britax click tight models to be the best, especially install. I also have an extend2fit Graco but found it a real pain in the ass to install and to tighten. The britax is a breeze to install and the straps loosen and click so easily. That have a few different models to choose from. Get the poplar if you’re short on space

I took my then 3 year old to Greece this summer (she was a couple months shy of turning 4) and I brought our regular car seat. Britax boulevard click tight. I bought a car seat carrying case with wheels for the airport - getting to the gate, etc. when we were boarding, I took the car seat out, carried it onto the plane, and gate checked the case. https://a.co/d/3eSogRK
Thread: "Clek Fllo vs Graco 4ever vs Diono Radian 3 RXT - does anyone have feedback from using these car seats or seeing them in store?"
My parents have a Graco 4ever that we use when we visit and I hate it. It’s not easy to get a good fit in the car or on my child. It just doesn’t seem safe with how difficult it is to get a correct fit. We have the Chicco Nextfit, and I like it, but don’t love it. My parents second seat is the Britax Click Tight and I LOVE that seat. It’s what we will get when we need a second seat.
Thread: "Safest convertible car seat for baby?"
We like Britax seats. Our 3 year old is currently rear facing in the Boulevard seat, and we just got our 5 year old the Grow With You booster. They both have a feature called ClickTight, which makes them extremely easy to properly install (I feel like you would have to actively be trying to install it incorrectly to not do it right with these seat). They are very easy to adjust as your child grows. They’re pretty heavy to move between cars, but the frame is steel so it makes sense.
Thread: "Toddler car seat recommendations"
It really depends on your child’s size and weight and the kind of car you drive. If you post that info on car seats for the littles on facebook you can get help from certified child passenger safety technicians. That being said I’ve tried so many different brands and Britax click tights are hands down the easiest. Takes ten seconds to get a solid install that doesn’t budge.

Britax Boulevard. It’s amazing quality and feels so sturdy.
Thread: "Putting toddler in car seat on the plane"
We did a 10 hour flight to Europe with our car seat (Britax Boulevard) and it wasn't the best experience. The britax cart worked great at the airport but on the plane the car seat was too wide for the isle and we had to carry it. Since we also had two cats and the toddler my husband had to go through the plane twice and that was akward. The car seat was also a bit too wide for the plane seat so we had to install it on a middle seat, which was fine. We only managed forward facing though and the big problem we had was that the seatbelt buckle was in my toddlers back. We couldn't manage it any other way. As a result she slept but not at all comfortably. At some point I let her sleep in my lap. I think overall it's a good concept and we had no trouble at all with the airline staff. I would recommend to use a slim seat if at all possible. I remember seeing people recommend to get an extra seat just for air travel if the usual car seat is too bulky.
Thread: "Safest convertible car seat for baby?"
We had a Britax Boulevard and loved it, but when our 2.5 year old was closing in on the 40 lb limit, we decided to get another seat with a higher limit so she could stay rear facing. I had planned to get a Britax One4Life, but it had bad crash test ratings. We ultimately chose a Nuna Rava for the consistently high ratings, higher 50 lb weight limit, and more comfortable cushioning. It has been a great seat. It doesn’t recline as much as I’d like and if my toddler falls asleep, her head/neck is unsupported. It is harder to see over when looking in the rear view mirror. I preferred the Boulevard in this respect. Yes, but they are heavy AF and not designed for regular switching. Source: I have and love one. ETA - should have specified: I have the Boulevard, which is super heavy duty. Very possible other models are lighter.

I looked at Consumer Reports (free access with library card) for safety ratings. Also considered international standards and ratings. We went with the Britax Boulevard.
Thread: "Clek Fllo vs Graco 4ever vs Diono Radian 3 RXT - does anyone have feedback from using these car seats or seeing them in store?"
I’d also consider how many cars you use. My husband and I trade off daycare duties, so we have 2 car seats per kid. The britaxs live in the “main” kid car and my husband has the E2F and contender in his (my oldest is forward facing)
Thread: "How can I keep my baby rear facing for longer?"
Oooft I had a run in with one of the mods last week on that group, she was rude af. In general they seem to give good advice though and can recommend a good rear facing seat. I've just bought a britax max safe pro which rear faces until 7 years. Being crossed legged or legs bent and being in a crash will have a far better outcome than forward facing.
Thread: "Car seat questions, including the new maxi Cosi 360"
I would recommend the Britax B-Compaq, which is essentially the new Graphene, so it's quite slimline + has a couple of extra features.
Thread: "Difference between expensive infant seats and less expensive infant seats"
We have the Cosco scenera for travel and I HATE it. I agree with another poster who said I’m still not sure we install it as tightly as possible. It just doesn’t seem physically possible to do it though. The straps always get tangled and it just doesn’t feel as safe as our britax boulevard. I know logically it should be but ugh. If anyone has a good travel car seat recco that’s not the cosco, I’d love to see it!

If you are in Canada, the most compact convertible carseats are definitely the Britax click tights!
Thread: "Are Maxi Cosi and Nuna Car Seats Worth the Money? [MB]"
They actually have a blog I didn't know about! Basically the most recommended convertible seats for the vast majority of vehicles are Graco (Graco extend 2 fit, 4ever, SlimFit). [https://csftl.org/recommended-seats-canada/](https://csftl.org/recommended-seats-canada/) I had a boujie infant seat (Clek) and now have a Graco like I mentioned, and I will say that the harness/clips/some other random things are significantly less nice than with the fancier seat. BUT it's a good fit, and my son is safe which is the most important. I think I will probably buy a nicer seat (thinking of Britax) for my second when the time comes.
Thread: "graco extend2fit or britax boulevard clicktight?"
CPST- Both are excellent seats. The install of the Britax is dead simple and can be done in 30 seconds. The extend2fit is very easy with UAS but once you hit the UAS limit the seatbelt can make it challenging to install. Neither are compact side to side and unless you have a giant truck 3 across is likely not going to work with either of these seats. 3 across is very technical (whether it's 2 car seats and an adult or 3 car seats) as everybody and every seat needs their own rebound room. A big con for the Britax is that it is not allowed to have headrest interference when forward facing. I would definitely check if your headrests are removable because if they are then both seats will have no issues. Regardless, try both seats in your vehicle before purchasing. As a couple of others have mentioned, the Graco slimfit is a new option that's compact front to back and side to side. There's still no 3-across guarantee but it does leave a little more room than the other two. All seats sold in Canada have the round white CMVS sticker on it. That is what the airline will check before allowing you on the plane. As long as you buy your car seat in Canada you are allowed to bring it on the plane. That being said, always check the dimensions of the plane seat before bringing your seat as the airlines tend to be making their seats smaller and smaller these days!
Thread: "Car seats for small cars"
I drove a Honda fit until last year when my kids were 3 and 1, and I want to keep both of them rear facing as long as possible, so I had two rear facing convertibles in a Honda Fit (at the time my husband had a Civic, and the Fit had less space the back seat than the civic). The ones we liked best were Britax Marathon Clicktights! They have a really flexible recline, so they actually are pretty compact, and SO EASY to install. They have no rethread harness, so you never have to fuss with that too. And they are pretty popular with car seat technicians, so you know they are good. The only cons are that the rear facing limit isn't as high as the Extend2fit, but unless your family is really big and tall, it should be fine. My 2 year old is tall for this age, and he's still a ways away from the rear facing limit. And the fabric isn't machine washable, which is a pain, but for all the pros, I'd still buy them again. We have since upgraded to a big SUV, but my kids are still rear facing happily at 2 and almost 4. Highly Recommend!
Thread: "Clek Fllo - will it fit in my car [ON]"
i drive a 2012 honda fit and i am extremely skeptical it would fit without losing the front passenger seat completely and it might make quite a blind spot as they sit very high. the Britax Poplar fits well or any of the graco seats. i also third the SEATS for Kids Discussion Group on facebook.

Are you familiar with CSFTL which is a really thorough review website for car seats? They go through a bunch of parameters focusing on ergonomics and usability. As other commenters mentioned, car seat safety often comes down to how well you can install the seat in your car. Usability matters quite a lot in this case. [Foonf review](https://csftl.org/foonf-review/) and [Boulevard review](https://csftl.org/britax-boulevard-review/)
Thread: "Benefits of rear facing past 3?"
I own an Australian and a Canadian car seat. The exact same Britax seat. The Australian one has a top tether and no chest clip. The Canadian one has an impact bar and a chest clip. Side by side, those are the only differences. Top tether vs impact bar makes zero difference if that kid is turned around. Anecdotally, people tend to turn their babies around earlier in Aus vs. Canada. Pretty much everyone I know in Aus turns their baby right around the 1 year mark. Obviously not everyone, and this is anecdotal. In Canada, I don’t know anyone who has turned their baby before two. It’s not socially acceptable in Canada.

We have 2 boulevards for my nearly 2 and nearly 3 year olds and I love them. Big is 30 lb 36 in and is quite comfy. I took them to a car seat certification safety lady after install to ensure they were correct and they were, super easy to figure out. They fit well in my Ford Edge. I will say those suckers are kinda heavy. I’m petite at 5 ft tall and it’s awkward/hard to take them out of my SUV myself though I manage. We really never move them so no biggie overall.
Thread: "Anyone have the Britax Poplar Car seat? Graco extend2fit? [on]"
I have the predecessor of the Poplar (Boulevard clicktight) and an Extend2fit. The Boulevard was our initial convertible seat that my son started using at 7 months, and the Extend2fit around 1 year when he started daycare. I went with the Extend2fit as our secondary carseat for occasional use because it was cheaper, but if they were the same price, I would've 100% purchased another Britax. The installation of the Britax seat is way easier and the seat just feels higher quality (better fabric, better recline for an infant, harness is smooth). The Extend2fit does force them to sit more upright but at 1 year my son was fine with the more upright position, though I do think he is still more comfortable in the Britax. Difficulty in tightening the harness is a known issue with the Extend2fit, which frustrates my husband to no end (the seat is in his car lol). Also, my son was 29.5 inches and 20 lbs at 6 months. He's now 16 months and 31 inches and 26 lbs - his growth slowed significantly after 1 year and especially after he started walking.
Thread: "Questions about clek car seats"
They are narrower but too deep. We have a 2003 Subaru Forester and can only barely use the passenger seat with it installed rear facing (and extended rear facing is important for us). Dionio Radian is apparently even deeper. They are great quality but had I known I would have gotten a different one. We're saving it for when we're ready to forward face. On Facebook there's a group called seats for kids discussion community. I always recommend posting your car make and year and what you're looking for in a car seat and they have experts who are a great help. We got a Britax allegiance and now I can actually use the passenger seat which is vital now that we have two kids.
Thread: "Please just tell me what car seat to buy"
I have had 6 Britax car seats over the years and they are my absolute favorites. They are some of the only car seats you can strip down completely and power wash if necessary. Every bit of fabric on them is washable and if the model is still in production the fabric is even replaceable. I recommend them before all others for those reasons. Some will say that being able to strip them down like that is unnecessary but I have had two kids who get car sick and being able to truly clean my car seats became really important. Blow outs, vomit, spilled milk… they all leave smells if you can’t machine wash them or get into every nook. Britax lets you do that.
Thread: "toddler carseat recommendations for a family without a car (so cabs and rental car use only)"
The britax feels significantly better in every way. They’re also what I have two of in the city. The clicktight feature makes it very simple - and very, very secure. They are *not* small and *not* light. They’re not the right seat if you don’t own a car. For going a mile around town at NYC speeds, anything is fine - if you do long trips at highway speeds, don’t buy a cheap car seat.
