Baby Jogger City Tour 2

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 is a lightweight, compact stroller designed for travel with a quick one-hand fold and a reclining seat. It accommodates children up to 50 lbs and features a UV 50+ canopy for sun protection.

Pros (+)

  • Lightweight and easy to carry
  • Compact fold fits in overhead bins
  • Reclining seat for comfort during naps

Cons (−)

  • May feel less sturdy for daily use
  • Small storage basket
  • Not ideal for rough terrain

Why parents like it

Parents appreciate how compactly it folds, making it easy to stow in overhead compartments on planes. The reclining seat is a hit for comfort during naps on the go.

Common complaints

Most parents have no complaints, though a few mention that it may feel less sturdy compared to heavier strollers. Some also note that the storage basket is on the smaller side.

Best for

Parents who frequently travel and need a compact stroller that fits easily in tight spaces. The tradeoff is that it may not hold up as well for everyday use compared to bulkier options.

Bottom line

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 is ideal for parents seeking a lightweight stroller for travel, though it may lack the durability of heavier models.

Thread: "Convince me not to get a mockingbird stroller"

Well I have a mockingbird. It’s nice, but it fills up my whole Honda Fit trunk so if it’s a space thing that’s definitely not the answer. But I don’t know many space efficient doubles. I use a Baby Jogger City tour 2 as my car stroller and that does the job, but the basket is small which is the norm for the “travel strollers”

Thread: "Are expensive travel strollers like Bugaboo and Yoyo all hype?"

We decided to go cheaper when we got a baby jogger city tour 2 on sale under $200 instead of a fancier one. It's been absolutely solid, and fit into the overhead bin without questioning on four straight flights.

Thread: "Uppababy Vista V2 Overrated?"

Ok starting to feel this way as well. It’s heavy to push, heavy and huge to fold and store in vehicle. It doesn’t fold nice w the rumble seat attached. We bought a Baby Jogger city 2 travel stroller for travel and I LOVE IT. It’s light weight and manoeuvres so well. Folds up nice too. Vista was great for the bassinet and bucket seat feature tho.

Thread: "What are the best compact strollers available?"

I have a baby jogger city tour and it's amazing. I took in in planes, trains, subway, etc. It fits really between the front seat of my car and and the rear facing car seat of my baby (in a sub-compact car). We used it for multiple travels, it's been used a lot and it is still in great condition. Edit: I bought it used.

Thread: "Confused by strollers, what do you recommend?"

I highly recommend looking for second hand options. We got an UppaBaby Cruz V1 in 2022 for $200 on Facebook marketplace. Tag says it was made in 2018 and the thing is a tank. It came with the bassinet and I bought a new UppaBaby car seat to go with it. We are expecting baby 2 now and will have a 27-month age gap. I plan on buying the new UppaBaby Minu Duo to use with both kids. I personally would not want the Vista due to its size. I prefer side-by-side for double strollers and am glad to have a lightweight option for both everyday use and travel. I got a Baby Jogger City Tour 2 for 60% off to use as a smaller travel stroller with my firstborn. It is more lightweight and compact compared to the UB Cruz. When we travel, either by plane or super packed car, it is the only stroller we bring. However, the UB is sooo much nicer. You really do get what you pay for.

Thread: "I am losing my mind trying to pick out a double stroller "

Inline are terrible. OP needs to look at slim double wide. Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double, Jeep Destination Ultralight SxS, Peg Perego Plilko Mini Twin, Summer Infant 3Dlite Tandem Convenience Double, Baby Trend Expedition EX Double Jogger. (The last one isn’t a double wide but it also isn’t super long or weight imbalanced.) You’re just going to have to tough it out with an infant and use a body carrier for 6months until they can strap into a stroller.

Thread: "Best durable umbrella stroller good for travel"

I was given a used Baby Jogger City Tour and it's really great; It totally saved us on a trip to visit family 5 hours away, and was easy to pack because of the size. This one is in the travel stroller category (folds like a suitcase size, versus an umbrella stroller with 2 handles that folds long and narrow). I'm really happy with it, and I'm happy to have it over the classic umbrella stroller.

I travel with a City Tour 2 and it’s been the least annoying “umbrella” I’ve owned.

seconded! I've had the city tour and city tour 2 and the 2 is much better because it reclines flatter. Both good strollers. I travel a lot and also use it as a everyday stroller.

Seconding, I have a secondhand City Tour Lux which lays completely flat and we love it. I have a big all-terrain sort of stroller, a side-by-side stroller, and was really wanting a compact stroller that fit between the rows of seats and was easy to use for quick outings in town or indoors. It’s been perfect. ETA I paid $180 on fb marketplace for my stroller that was only used indoors and came with the belly bar and the travel backpack.

Thread: "Good city strollers?"

I am really happy with our City Tour 2. It’s light and easy to carry up stairs (even with baby in it which isn’t officially safe but you gotta do what you gotta do) folds small (small enough for an overhead bin) and handles bumps and curbs reasonably well for its size. We’ve used it all over including cobble stones in Europe. It also folds really easily. The bugaboo butterfly is also really nice, my cousin has it. It’s just more expensive but deff a great stroller with similar qualities! The Babyzen yo-yo is also well-liked, and you can do a bassinet attachment on it if desired. I didn’t love the fold mechanism of it and didn’t buy it because of the price. But that’s another option to look into. To us personally the city tour 2 checks all the boxes and the price is right!

Thread: "What stroller do we recommend here? "

While the uppababy is great for a giant grocery hauls and park days , I sort of regret it because it’s just so huge. We have that plus small travel stroller which we end up using more because it’s easier to maneuver city sidewalks in the subway with. I sort of wish my second “big stroller” was just a little smaller than the uppababy. One thing I wish our travel strollers did was an easier open/close. And def get a carrier We have the uppa baby vista, and old V1 baby jogger citi tour and the ergo baby metro+

Thread: "Best inexpensive airplane stroller?"

I like my city tour by baby jogger. I’ve the original that fold three time not the 2. Folds up into a backpack and you can wear it as such. I got mine as a hand-me down so no idea what they run but I’d bet you can get it off marketplace. It doesn’t handle quite as well as my city jogger but probably better than the umbrella strollers

Thread: "Parents who don't bring their full-size stroller to the airport: why?"

We always take our travel pram and leave our larger/more expensive pram at home. We have the travel Baby Jogger which folds up small enough to fit in the planes overhead compartment as carry on. We don’t always use it once we are pass security but it’s handy to have for our holiday. Our toddler fights going into her pram most of the time but seems happy to sit on it whilst waiting in long lines!

I personally think so, but I'm also more the type to struggle with a slightly bigger stroller and no backpack. I know many prefer carrying a bigger backpack and pushing a smaller stroller, which then I would suggest the BabyJogger City Tour 2. They fold up really compact, though it loses some of the sturdiness, ease (ex: smaller and more wheels make it harder to go on rougher terrain, but shouldn't matter on city sidewalks, though cobblestones would be hard) and size/weight carrying capabilities (ex: 45lbs vs 65lbs). Just depends on your needs!

We have a BabyJogger city tour as our lightweight travel stroller and love it! Ordered on sale for like $160. We intended to use it only for travel but it because our daily user instead of our expensive Nuna. (Until I scored an Evenflo Pivot wagon on Fb marketplace).

Thread: "The 25 most recommend travel strollers according to Reddit (in the past year as of Jul 2025)"

We have a Baby Jogger City Tour 2, it’s been to Europe and on domestic USA trips with us several times, both in cabin and checked at the gate, my 4yr old sometimes still sits in it, my 2yr old loves it. The level of recline available is awesome for naps and it has held up great on all kinds of terrain. My kids sometimes sit together on it (combined weight around 70lbs) and it does fantastic. If we were to have another kid, I honestly would not bother getting a different stroller, I would just get the car seat adapters for whatever infant car seat we choose. My only con is that I wish the sunshade was a little bit bigger as we live somewhere quite sunny, but it’s really not a deal breaker.

Thread: "What collapsible travel stroller do you recommend?"

I have the city jogger tour 2. I'm also an cruz user but when my 1st was about 20 mo we went on an international trip to France and got the city jogger tour 2 and it was a great fit. Sturdy enough for lots of walking miles but folded with one hand while you held a child with the other. I used it for nearly 2 years after that as our everyday stroller. Great for bus/subway/throw in the car. Im looking forward to busting it back out for baby 2 this spring.
