Thread: "Can someone de-influence me from the Uppababy Stroller?"
Graco Modes has held up wonderfully and we are 14 months in! For reference, I walk daily because I’m a health nut and I take baby with me unless it’s frigid. Graco stroller has been awesome. I do also have a Baby Jogger that I bought used and it’s for running purposes only. Love the sturdy wheels on that thing, even though I bought it on marketplace. Just saying, you’ve got options!
Thread: "Confused by strollers, what do you recommend?"
I worked at a baby store in college so I used to sell strollers to all types of people. I’m also a FTM and recently purchased one for myself. I will say that it’s an extremely personal choice - what works for you and yours may not work for me. For example, I live in a city with rough brick sidewalks - so good wheels and suspension were important to us. We also haven’t met our baby yet and don’t know what their temperament will be, so shelling out $800+ for a stroller seems risky. I have plenty of friends/family who have expensive strollers collecting dust in their cars/basements. We looked at the UppaBaby, Nuna, and a lot of the other popular systems on the market and decided they wouldn’t work for us. We loathed the Doona (my husband is 6’5) and weren’t overly impressed with the Graco / Chiccos we saw at Target. We found a boxed and brand new Baby Jogger City Mini at a discount store and bought it for a great price. My husband is obsessed with it already. It’s a brand I used to sling at the store and it’s very functional / in line with what we were looking for. I suggest testing out as many as possible, if you can. There aren’t many baby stores left, but Nordstrom has some on display. Rei might as well. Target as a few. Unsure about Walmart. And I think talking to parents who are out and about when you see them pushing strollers can be helpful. But default on your own judgement and prioritize your needs. Also, if your baby is going to be born in colder months, or if you’re not ready to commit to a brand/type, you may want to hold off or just get a snap n go system.
Thread: "Stroller for a tall toddler that doesn't cost a small fortune?"
Jogging strollers offer the best seat size for kids. I love our Baby jogger mini citty 2. It collapses small and it and gigantic like summer joggers. It’s got the largest back rest and no foot well so feet aren’t tucked up feeling cramped.
Thread: "Stroller Recommendations"
I stressed about strollers too. Watched tons of videos. Then my husband and I went to a consignment shop and pushed a baby jogger and compared it to some others (namely uppababy) and we decided to get one. We went on Facebook marketplace and found someone selling one for $80. I bought car seat adapters for $25. And then we got a car seat for $180. It can go on different terrains and it’s lighter than the uppababy ones which was important to me. I figured the cost was so little that if it wasn’t perfect in a few months, we could revisit! My advice is to figure out what’s important to you. For me, I didn’t care about storage space underneath that much, but my back is bad so I did want something relatively light. I don’t care about aesthetic too much but I did want something that could go on gravel and unpacked areas too. I will say that we ended up finding a bassinet attachment (another $100) because I didn’t like the car seat for longer walks with him in the spring/summer (seemed too hot). So consider that you might want a bassinet! Most strollers, you can find people selling them and attachments used on Facebook.
Thread: "The 25 most recommend travel strollers according to Reddit (in the past year as of Jul 2025)"
Unpopular opinion since the Uppa baby vista is rated at #2. I hated that stroller. Sure is it the Cadillac of strollers with a smooth ride. Yes. But it’s so big, bulky, cumbersome, navigating it through busy areas or even just the amount of trunk space it takes up was not worth it, imo. It seems more of a status symbol at this point. We ended up with #14 the baby jogger city mini. It’s a beautiful compact full size stroller that is easy to handle and even easier to handle solo. I used it many times flying solo with my little one all the way up to the gate. I could hold him and still fold the stroller one handed. It moves well, is compact, and easy to navigate through crowds. My only complaint is the seat is a little big for small babies so use and insert or car seat adapter, and the seat does sit rather far back but my kid doesn’t mind. We’ll be using it again with #2
Thread: "Stroller options: jogging stroller for everyday use as well? "
Highly recommend biting the bullet and planning on two strollers, or you will end up compromising way too much on ideal qualities of either. We got a Bob stroller with infant attachments and I love that thing still 2.5 years later. It's great for hikes and tougher terrain compared to a standard stroller. I even prefer it for grocery store runs. Any big day trips where I can take up most of the trunk with it, I enjoy using it. We also got a very compact Baby Jogger stroller (note: not a jogging stroller, just the brand name) for longer travel and other tight spaces. It also has infant attachments and we found it useful from early on. For airport travel, I would never want to deal with my Bob. Even for outings at restaurants I highly prefer bringing the compact one, in case little one needs a spot to sleep. I've seen our friends try to bring their unwieldy larger strollers and they are such a hassle in many cases. Also, in general, it's just the more practical way to throw in a stroller "just in case".
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
Baby Jogger City Mini GT2! I like that I can fold it by myself while holding my child. It’s also good on different terrain. It is not actually a jogging stroller, though.
Thread: "Uppababy Minu v2 or BabyJogger Mini GT2 or other stroller recommendations"
I love our city mini GT2! I was also worried about the storage at first but it’s more than enough and I’ve never had a issue fitting what I need! I’ve been using it for 8 months. I don’t notice the weight, it’s so easy to fold and I’m only 5 foot 1 and not generally very strong and have no problem folding it and tossing it in our car.
Thread: "Good city strollers?"
Short answer: I recommend you check out the Baby Jogger City Mini. (Keep in mind that in spite of the brand name, the City Mini model is not actually recommended for runners. It would probably suffice for a gentle, short jog, but distance runners should look at proper jogging strollers.) Long ramble answer: Ohhh! I worked at a stroller store for many years in the mid aughts (and I've nannied with a variety of strollers too) so I have weirdly strong opinions on this! Obviously, models have changed since my stroller knowledge heyday, but here are some general pointers: -above all, look at the wheels/shocks in your stroller. No matter how luxurious or chic the chassis looks, rigid plasticky wheels just won't hold up long term or provide a smooth ride for your baby on DC's many cobblestone and/or unfinished sidewalks -3-wheeled strollers (i.e. BOB, Baby Jogger, Bumbleride, Thule, etc.) are what I recommend unequivocally for surbaurbanites (or people with the space for them.) Yes, theyre heavy and huge. They can be a pain sometimes. But they last forever (basically they'll get you from about 6mos-elementary years (if you want)). The 3 air-filled tires make for the smoothest and safest ride for jogging, hiking, off-roading. If I got pregnant tomorrow, I'd personally get a behemoth BOB or Thule jogging stroller for everyday use, and a cheap umbrella stroller to supplement in crowds/indoor use. (But note that umbrella strollers rarely recline fully, so they're more for babies and kids fully able to sit up on their own.) -remember to think long term. I recommend buying your stroller with the needs of you and your 6 month old+ in mind. Personal baby carriers, car seat adapters, and car seats like the the Doona can get you through those infant months. But strollers are an investment and you'll want it to keep up with you and an active toddler too. -Don't be mislead by all-in-one systems. Most major stroller brands can be fitted with an infant car seat adapter. So don't think that those all-in-one bundles are the only way you can click an infant car seat into a stroller, oif that's your wish. -This is mostly anecdotal, and possibly obsolete information at this point, but in my day, I was always wary of Graco car seats and strollers (weirdly, their other baby stuff was seemed fine! ) We routinely saw huge fluctuations in quality with this brand. Sometimes you got a perfectly acceptable budget options. Sometimes you purchased a piece of garbage . It was very very strange, and their customer service wasn't awesome. I always tried to guide people to Chicco, which was at a similar price point and always yielded more consistently quality products. This was from about 2005-2010 or so though, so maybe not the case now🤷♀️
Thread: "Does anyone regret not getting a single to double stroller?"
Buy a used single stroller, sell it and buy another used double stroller if you want a double. I adore my mockingbird single to double but still have used a city mini and a city mini double (both used) and just need different things in different periods. So much stuff is so good secondhand.
Thread: "Are expensive strollers worth it?"
If you'll be using it frequently and using it outside, then yes. I live in a hilly urban neighborhood and use mine almost daily, so it was definitely worth it. I have a City Mini GT. If you'll only use it once in a while at a mall or airport, then it's probably not worth it.
Thread: "Baby Jogger City Select 2- mid-tier?"
Ok so I have owned (all brand new) Nuna Mix 2, Uppababy G lux, Bugaboo Buffalo, Baby Jogger City Elite and most recently Baby Jogger City mini GT2. Although Baby Jogger doesn’t get the brand recognition it deserves, both of my Baby Jogger strollers were superior to my other ones. I can’t tell you enough how much I love this brand.
Thread: "Can someone de-influence me from the Uppababy Stroller?"
I was going to comment the same thing! When we went to try out strollers, my husband LOVED the Cruz, so we got it despite my concerns that it was kinda big. He has no problem with it, but I find it bulky and feel like it should come with a strap. Does it work very smoothly once we are going? Yes. Do I think I would have been happier with a lighter stroller? Yes. I considered the babyjogger city mini, for example, which would be right in OP’s budget when on sale
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
Baby Jogger City Mini GT2. It is the only stroller we could find where the handles adjusted enough to accomodate my 6, 1 husband but then also adjusted down enough for my 5, 2 self.
Thread: "Are expensive strollers worth it?"
When I nannied I tried out all the strollers. Unfortunately my favorites all ended up being the expensive brands. Fortunately buying used is easy in my area. I do like my friends baby jogger city mini. It seems to handle pretty well.
Thread: "Stroller for a tall toddler that doesn't cost a small fortune?"
Despite the brand being called baby jogger, the city mini isn't actually a jogging stroller. I do not understand why it's named that way. I agree that it's great.
Thread: "What do I get with luxury/expensive strollers (uppababy, Nuna) over affordable ones (Chicco, Graco)"
I have a Baby Jogger City Mini GT which is only slightly more expensive than the Bravo. I got mine on sale for $350. I prefer it to my friend's uppababy, it doesn't look as fashionable but it handles just as well and it's comfortable. So I'd check it out if you're looking for an upgrade but not to spend luxury money.
Thread: "Strollers - what did you wish you knew before you bought?"
Some people end up with four strollers to meet specific purposes. I did not want to be that person. We got a City Mini Baby Jogger GT. It was not that expensive. It is sturdy enough to gate check at the airport, fits in our trunk with other things no problem, and folds easily.
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
City mini gt2. We needed something heavy duty as we live on an unpaved, rock road, and wanted the option to take it hiking. We love it so far! Excellent maneuverability and seems like it’ll hold up on any terrain. I’ve heard complaints about the underneath storage being too small, but we’ve never not been able to fit what we needed.
Thread: "Are expensive strollers worth it?"
Get used. For new born get those universal car seat adapted strollers. For all around town get the city mini baby jogger. For umbrella stroller we like the mclaren quest.
Thread: "Redsbaby Aeron vs Baby Jogger City Mini GT?"
I have the Baby Jogger and I’ve been pretty happy with it. I chose it because it drives well on rugged terrain which is essential for where we live. It’s light, easily collapses using only one hand and fits in the boot of my small car. It is only forward facing but we used it with the capsule when she was a newborn so we’re able to see her. The only downside I think is the storage. There really isn’t a lot and it’s kind of tricky to access. I get around this by wearing a backpack.
Thread: "New parent question: Are stroller over $500 really worth it? Is a more expensive stroller always better?"
The baby jogger is great for getting in and out of the car, folds one handed and it’s relatively light. Handles very well. I ended up buying a new one and that stayed in the car and I bought a used one for neighborhood walks that I left in the house - the used one was $100 and well worth it

We bought a city mini gt used on Mercari. It is awesome!
Thread: "Help picking a stroller that can handle a prairie winter,"
We are in Winterpeg and love our babyjogger city mini GT 2 and I believe they make a bassinet for it. We used the adaptor for our Carseat until LO was about 4 months then it lays flat enough we could use it without the carseat You could also get any stroller and put skis under for winter walk https://premierski.ca/
Thread: "Stroller for a tall toddler that doesn't cost a small fortune?"
I also have a 3ft+ tall 20 month old. He is still doing well in the baby jogger city mini gt 2!
Thread: "Uppababy Minu v2 or BabyJogger Mini GT2 or other stroller recommendations"
Got a secondhand City Mini GT off Kijiji and it’s been brilliant. I’ve tried a baby trends jogging stroller, Evenflo pivot xpand and like three others that I’ve given up on lol. Point being, they’ve all sucked; but this one holds up in snow, sleet, rain, construction areas. It also has really good suspension and offers a very smooth ride. I’d legit pay full price for this one!
Thread: "City mini stroller on FB marketplace"
I used Google Lens on the picture, and found this: https://well.ca/products/baby-jogger-city-mini-3w-single_114830.html Baby Jogger City Mini 3W Single Crimson It went for $370 CAD. So seems like a great deal!
Thread: "Good city strollers?"
City mini stroller by Baby Jogger! It’s so lightweight and easy to maneuver, highly adjustable, and has great tires. Not as expensive as the uppababy.
Thread: "Considering buying the Graco Prammette stroller and travel system but saw a couple of scary reviews ? Any thoughts or other recommendations for us?"
Buy a stroller used. I got Mini Gt 2 for 200$ in mint condition and bought graco Snug 35 new. Stroller is important... Graco are good but for same price u get amazing used stroller worth it
Thread: "Double Stroller"
I love our baby jogger city mini gt2 double. It is a workhorse. Drives smoothly over bumps and seems to be a comfortable ride. The version I got is the color “pike” on Amazon, which came with belly bars and a leather handlebar. The peekaboo window is also mesh. The seats recline really well for naps/our baby. Toddler/baby love sitting side by side. My SIL has a valco baby snap trend duo which is also super nice. Looks a bit higher end with nice leather handlebars. I think the seats sit more upright at the most upright setting than the baby jogger but peekaboo window is smaller.
Thread: "Redsbaby Aeron vs Baby Jogger City Mini GT?"
Second this. Love the Baby Jogger for navigation and ease of putting in the car, but the storage sucks. You can only access the basket from the side and I struggle to fit more than one small shopping bag in it. Baby’s nappy bag has to be a backpack on my back, worn all the time. But in saying that, I still love the pram for push ability and easy fold.
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
Babyjogger City Mini GT2 I do a lot of off road walking with my dogs, so needed something that could handle some rough terrain, and it holds up pretty well. The tyres are foam filled so no risk of punctures which is a massive plus point. Pushes easily and feels very light and smooth. It also folds down really easily, not the smallest fold but it's compact enough for me, and the tyres pop off easily if you need it smaller. My only dislike is I can't face baby towards me, she is absolutely not bothered, but I would much prefer to be able to see and have a chat with her (she's 6 months currently).
Thread: "Stroller for a tall toddler that doesn't cost a small fortune?"
I love my city mini, good for my tall toddler and bought for cheap from marketplace, but important to note it’s not an actual jogging stroller.
Thread: "Confused by strollers, what do you recommend?"
I got a free baby city jogger double and love it! Just the seats are thrashed so I’m using our mocking bird for now! Both are so nice
Thread: "Are expensive strollers worth it?"
I paid around $350 for my baby jogger city mini with my first. Barely used it with him so it felt like a waste. (If we went out to a store we just but his car seat in a cart, we didn’t live close to a park and didn’t live in an area that was safe to walk in). With my second we use it all the time (even in the store because my oldest sits in the back of the cart). We live in a different area near a park and walk my oldest home from school. That being said I kind of wish I had a joovy double stroller as they are much more affordable and my 4 year old would fit in the back. ETA: My first was born in the middle of winter and my second in the middle of summer. Weather here is very unpredictable other than summer is going to be HOT…so I didn’t really use it with either of them as newborns.
Thread: "Good city strollers?"
Love our city mini 2 years in and counting
Thread: "Are expensive strollers worth it?"
I got a baby jogger city mini for like $250 I think (black Friday sale) and I LOVE it! Out of the strollers we were looking at it was on the cheaper end and I don't regret not buying an expensive one.
Thread: "Are expensive strollers worth it?"
Do you happen to have a Burlington Coat Factory nearby? We were able to purchase a Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 for $150 in 2020. It retailed for $400 at the time. We are very satisfied with it.
Thread: "Do I need a jogging stroller for winter?"
In Ottawa we use the city mini gt as a year round, and I noticed a lot of us here use strollers with the jogging wheels. I would imagine Edmonton is even more snowy, so might make life easier
Thread: "Stroller: Going nuts on what to get"
If you're willing to spend $1000, why not just spend $200 twice and have one stroller that's great for rougher terrain and a second stroller that's lightweight for travel, etc? Or pick up a few used ones so you can get a feel for what you like, and upgrade or change if necessary. We got a secondhand City Mini GT2 for $50 on facebook marketplace. We like it, but it was so cheap that I wouldn't think twice about replacing it if our preferences change.
Thread: "Nina TRIV Next vs Demi Next. Double stroller for the future or no?"
we went with the demi because of the eventual double conversion and absolutely love it. buuuuut… it’s enormous, even when folded up. if you have limited space then definitely go with something smaller. my wife keeps it in her car and i keep a baby jogger city mini gt2 in mine. the latter is also our travel stroller because it’s way easier to pack. the push and stability of the demi next are incredible though and we are happy to have both. definitely get a bassinet with either one you go with.
Thread: "Help me pick a stroller for my lifestyle - Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 vs UPPABaby Vista V2/Cruz V2"
So we have a Cruz and love it, but we live in a big city and exclusively walk/use public transport (no car). As someone else said, they're not great to get into/out of cars (and that's the Cruz, the Vista is even worse). I also tried and really liked the Minu (definitely better than a Babyzen Yoyo or any of the other smaller folding strollers I tried), but I'm not sure how good it'd be on a walking trail. I'm a big Cruz stan, but for your purposes, I bet a City Mini would be the best bet.
Thread: "Stroller: Going nuts on what to get"
Fellow suburbanite here, in an area with lots of parks. My daughter is 2 and we’ve used our baby jogger city mini gt2 almost daily since she was born. We take a daily morning walk around our neighborhood and visit parks and the zoo regularly. I love our stroller so much that I’m getting it in the double version this winter (we’re expecting #2 in February). So, that’s my recommendation! If you haven’t already, check out the gear guides on lucieslist.com. There’s a good breakdown of strollers that’s worth a read (it’s a great resource for researching all other baby/toddler gear, also). Good luck!
Thread: "Talk to me about double strollers for children 2 years apart."
My kids are 21 months apart. I had and LOVED the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 and walked literally hundreds of miles with it. They sell car seat attachments for when the baby is too young to sit upright in the stroller. I live in a city and found it narrow enough to fit through doors and most aisles of even small stores. I ended up getting a Mockingbird single to double stroller to have a single stroller once my oldest was old enough to walk most places. I also got the rumble seat to make it a double as needed. I hated it and found incredible heavy and hard to maneuver. They also tedently recall due to the frame snapping in half and in my opinion, have not done enough to address the problem and have been kind of blasé about the whole thing (only offering a frame support kit instead of a refund). I now have the uppa baby vista in anticipation of baby 3 in July so have only used it as a single so far and not a double. However it is *extremely* heavy and awkward. Long story short, get the baby jogger!
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
If yours has foam filled tires it’s either the city mini gt or gt2 (only reason I’m correcting that is because if someone buys one based off your comment and wanting foam filled that’s an important distinction). I love the city mini gt! It’s my dream stroller. I was given a city mini and it’s good but I really would like to have those slightly nicer features that the gt/gt2 have
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
We have a BabyJogger CitiMini which is good, but not great. The under-basket is small and I wish I could face baby towards me but not in the car seat or bassinet attachment. One MAJOR plus is foam filled tires and an entirely plastic assembly so winter walks with any salt on the sidewalks won’t rust!
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
This is our primary stroller! Love the balance of relatively compact/lightweight and easy to handle terrain. We’ve flown with it and it worked well as a gate check option! I have a used Bob that is great for running/ true off roading, but the City mini can go everywhere I want it to while walking, just sometimes opt for the Bob for a slightly smoother ride
Thread: "jogging stroller/buggy - is it worth it?"
So I got a regular stroller first (Baby Jogger City Mini) and then got a jogging one (BOB Revolution) 50% off when baby was around a year old. It was totally worth it for me because I'm a SAHM so it forced me to get outside running. I think if you can build it into your day, running with the little one is a lot of fun and it counts as a strength workout so your times will go down a good bit! You can definitely find them used which is great because they're just so expensive. I'm only doing like 3-4 miles at a time and my 2.5 year old doesn't mind it as long as she isn't thirsty or her diaper isn't full.
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
We have a city mini GT single stroller and it is my favorite. It has 3 wheels so it maneuvers like a jogger but is light enough and easy enough to load in and out of the car. I’ve taken it on super long walks and it pushes great. I also have a double Bob which pushes like a dream on any terrain, but it is heavy and bulky. It doesn’t really fit in the trunk of my small SUV, so we only take it when we go somewhere in my husbands large suv. We got it for $200 on FB Marketplace and have definitely gotten our money’s worth. We also have a Valco Snap DuoTrend. I don’t know if I would recommend it. It’s pretty, and it maneuvers fine, but I like the push on our single city mini much better. The Valco is one of the lightest full-size double strollers out there, so it is great for traveling anywhere. But it doesn’t push well on uneven terrain, so I think the city mini double would be a smoother ride for the same price point ($700).
Thread: "What stroller do you have for everyday use and do you like it?"
We have a Bugaboo Donkey 5 and a Baby Jogger CMGT2! I never liked tandem strollers because to me, one kid’s always going to be in a weird position and I felt bad, and they felt super tipable. The bugaboo donkey slides in and out to make a single or double stroller and kids can parent face or world face. I get so many compliments on it when we’re out and my kids are super comfortable. This is our shopping/city stroller. My baby loves the bassinet too. The CMGT2 stroller is perfect for my older two in an outing with dad, who just climb in and out like at the zoo or parks. Its footrest and seat recline are perfect for Disney. I am very short compared to my average height husband and both stroller handlebars have settings that work for us both.
