Yes! This matters so much for the flow. I love using these bottles but I have to make sure the vent lines up. Also have to make sure that it doesn’t move when I tighten the bottle top on.
Thread: "Bottle recommendations? NOT Dr Browns Anti Colic"
Philips Avent Natural Response all the way!! Dr Browns leaked for us, Comotomo didn’t last, Boon was too many pieces. Philips Avent are super easy to put together one-handed with a wide neck for pouring/cleaning. Perfect bottles in my opinion after trying several with our two! Worked well for colic/reflux too!

I also found out after few days. And after few months I had new issue with it. It didn't work at all and the whole nipple went underpressured (Not english native speaker I hope it makes sense lol) so now I line the hole and then I have to lift it with the milk already in

I’ve seen lots of posts of moms complaining which is why I decided to share :) Yes you can size up but many of us have sized up with little improvement in feeding length until the vent has been lined up. I’m glad you haven’t had issues though!
Thread: "Bottle recommendations? NOT Dr Browns Anti Colic"
Seconding the Avents! Wide neck which is helpful for when you’re pouring formula in. Loved these bottles. I also had major leaking issues with Dr Browns.

It took us a while to figure it out but it’s listed on the instructions. Which who is going to read instructions for a baby bottle (not me). It makes such a huge difference.

You need new nipples. Washing nipples degrades and softens them. You should be getting new nipples at least once a month. :)
Thread: "Bottle recommendations? NOT Dr Browns Anti Colic"
My mom group (about ten people and all have two kids, some have three) all use avent. I hated dr brown and went to avent with both of my kids.
We used glass avent with the second kid and would use comotomo if we were out of the house since glass was heavy and could break (we had a glass bottle fall out of the stroller and shatter when my baby was an infant) but I guess the comotomo nipples are free flow and just leak everywhere if the bottle is upside down or on it’s side. And when my daughter got older she learned you could squeeze the bottle and squirt it and thought it was hilarious so would just squirt it at people or on herself or the floor/ couch.
I will def just get plastic avents for when we leave the house with out next kid. And use glass avents at home. I feel like the glass avents could last generations and are worth the investment.

Yes I watched a random YouTube video that explained the notch and my mind was blown! I made sure to explain it to any caretaker preparing a bottle for my child because it was so critical to using the bottle correctly and yet discussed no where in the product packaging!

I’m in the same boat as you. I think people really misunderstand how these nipples work. The type of suction/force needed to get the milk out is very different, and much more similar to breastfeeding. If anyone wants to see for themselves, put water in the Philips Avent Natural Response, and then in any other bottle, and try to get it to squirt out with your fingers. It’s basically impossible to do by just pinching. My baby has no problems whatsoever though (exclusively breastfed and we introduced these bottles at ~5 months).

We’ve tried numerous types of bottles and nipples, one of them being Philips Avent Natural Response. Baby was 3-4 weeks old and I’ve tried number 3, milk wouldn’t come out even if I aligned the notch and the cap wasn’t screwed on tight. On the other hand, Philips Avent Natural(the older type) worked great, but they’re discontinued. We switched and stayed with Lansinoh.

I did the Philips Avent anti-colic. The only extra part is the spoon, and we put those in the dishwasher if you have one (in a basket specifically meant for bottle parts). We learned recently we accidentally switched to the Natural Response nipples when sizing up around the one month month mark, so actually most of this time we’ve been doing anticolic bottle and ring, but with natural response nipple. But it worked out OK baby is now six months old and we’ve never had issues with gas or anything.

Philips Avent with the natural response nipple is the winner in our household. We tried Dr. Brown’s, Comotomo and Nanobebe. Comotomo and Nanobebe both have frosted areas of the bottle (ridiculously annoying when you can’t see what your baby is drinking). Dr Brown’s worked well but the parts were annoying. We like the Philips Avent because the baby has to suck on the nipple to get any drops at all. Also, the bottles hook up to my spectra pump with no adapter needed. (We also have a Nuk from the Babylist sampler box but we haven’t tried it yet.)

I was using Dr browns bottles until they started leaking constantly with every feed. No matter what I did they would always leak. We switched to Philips Avent natural response and he does great with them. Flow is different between the two brands - he used a level 1 with the Dr browns but he’s a level 3 on Philips Avent

Honest question - isn't the point of the Natural Response nipple that you don't need to do paced feeding? At least that's what the ads say 🤷♀️ FTM mom here who is also using these bottles. My girl is 5 weeks and we're using a level 2 which seems okay but she does seem to be getting a fair amount of air in. Edited to add - just tried lining up the vent with the intent on the bottle ring and she took in so much less air! Thanks for the tip

We like ours. We got the natural response kind and our baby like the slower flow. You can always size up the nipple for a faster flow if that’s what your baby prefers. Our biggest complaint is that you have to really extra careful when putting the collar on the glass bottles because they will leak BAD!

I use the Phillips avent natural response!! It’s good for breast feeding babies because they have to actively suck to get the milk out, it’s essentially built in paced feeding.
We introduced one around 6 weeks - he really only takes a bottle once in a blue moon (now at 4 months) but I wanted the convenience of one - luckily for me no matter how long it’s been since he’s had one he takes to these almost immediately (if not struggles for just a minute or 2).
