Phillips Avent Natural! Never had issues with gas and he goes from these bottles to boob no problem

The best bottles are the ones that your baby take a liking to. We use Phillips Avent Natural. Dr. Brown’s gave my baby more gas, ironically. Comotomo nipples are too fast. Nano Bebe was not easy to read remaining volume.

Thread: "What glass baby bottles do you use?"

Nuk and Philips Avent Natural, both glass. The Avent had a recall for a small number for lead paint a few years ago. But that is only for the ones with painted exteriors, and again, a small number. Since I am heating bottles from cold to warm, I do not trust silicone; it's not yet proven that silicone doesn't leach chemicals when heated. Plastic is completely out of the question. I considered stainless steel, but I like being able to see how much formula is in the bottle. I have one small Lifefactory bottle and had considered buying several before the birth, as I found them so attractive. But, I am glad I reconsidered because I dislike that the measurements are only listed on the silicone sleeve and not on the bottle. Also, I find the nipples on the Nuk and Philips Avent far superior.

Two. A dr. brown's and a Phillips avent natural. I also did the Similac samples where you're sent 4 little things of ready to feed formula. It saved us in the middle of night 3 or 4 when the midwife said she thought our son was getting to be problematically lethargic and needed a little bit more. We ended up needed to combo feed and got more of the Phillips avent naturals and 6 months in they're our favourite bottle. I would suggest opening and sanitizing them before you potentially need them though because that was rough to do in the moment and really dumb of me not to consider. You can use the same bottle. They sell new nipples with faster flows if the baby ends up needing that as they get older.

Through trial and error we have settled with phillips Avent natural. We have tried ComoTomos, hate them, the kids (lids, not kids) constantly vacuum seal to the bottle and I have dumped milk getting them off somehow. Dr. browns always leaked. Only had 1 from a trial box. It's less about the bottle, just find one your little one will take and keep the nipple slow (preemie or newborn) and pace feed.

Philips Avent natural. My baby was 90% breastfeed and would take these bottles without any issue. I used glass at home and plastic for on the go.

Thread: "Are Philips Avent bottles/ nipples absolute trash or am I an idiot."

We’ve tried numerous types of bottles and nipples, one of them being Philips Avent Natural Response. Baby was 3-4 weeks old and I’ve tried number 3, milk wouldn’t come out even if I aligned the notch and the cap wasn’t screwed on tight. On the other hand, Philips Avent Natural(the older type) worked great, but they’re discontinued. We switched and stayed with Lansinoh.

We started with Browns in the NICU and used them with P, T, and 1 nipples. Once we got to 4/5 months we switched to Phillips Avent Natural - less pieces, less leaks, and better flow (imo).

Thread: "What bottles to buy for newborn??"

I just replied to another similar thread with Philips Avent natural. Super easy to clean and no issues with leaks. Avents are a true "slow flow" meaning babe needs to be actively sucking to get milk flow. This was helpful in teaching babe to control their consumption and pace. It also means nipple sizing can be tricky. We skipped 0 and 1 went straight to size 2 at 3 weeks old. I had a philips avent gift set on my amazon registry. Came with small (4oz) and medium (9oz) bottles plus size 1-4 nipples so you can experiment. Also 2 of their pacifiers which are very popular.

Avent natural worked for my first 2 years ago. This time they changed their nipple and my babe won't latch. We switched to lansinoh and she is much better. The nipple shape is way different and looks more like my nipple imo

Thread: "Which are the Best Bottles for Breastfed Babies?"

Ah, the great bottle hunt! Honestly, it depends a lot on your baby because some little ones are super picky. From what I’ve seen with my sister and a couple of friends, the bottles that worked best for breastfed babies were the ones that mimic the breast as closely as possible. Comotomo bottles are a big hit because they’re soft and squishy with a wide nipple base, so the transition from breast to bottle is easier. Philips Avent Natural is another favorite—simple design, easy to clean, and good flow control. Dr. Brown’s anti-colic bottles are also amazing if you’re worried about gas or fussiness, but they do have extra parts, so cleaning takes more effort. My cousin tried Nanobebe bottles, and they were perfect for warming up breast milk quickly without killing nutrients, which is awesome for pumped milk. Honestly, I’d grab one or two different brands first instead of buying a big set right away—what works for one baby might totally flop for another! There’s a great comparison guide on Parenthood Bliss that breaks down pros and cons of each bottle without overwhelming you with jargon—it helped my sister narrow down her choices big time

Thread: "Has anyone actually gotten their exclusively breastfed baby to take the bottle?? What age and how? I love breastfeeding but also want some freedom"

Both of my babies hated Dr Browns but took Philiips Avent Natural. I like that the milk only comes out if the baby actively sucks and they can control the pace, just like breastfeeding. Keep trying! Good luck!

Same. Mine is 80% breastfed and 20% formula fed. Never had a problem going back and forth from the breast to the bottle. Sometimes i even feel he has an easier time with the boob tbh

Some places sell sample boxes of bottles, to help you figure out which ones your baby likes. We used Phillips Avent Natural and NUK.

I love that they have a glass option too! They’re the first ones we tried and baby is taking them like a champ. Using the size 2 nipple at 5 months because I’m breastfeeding and I don’t want his bottle to go too quickly.

      Thread: "Lansinoh bottles bad?"

There is no need to feel terrible. Parenting is A LOT of trial and error. What works for one baby/child might not work for another baby/child, whether they’re from different families or they’re siblings. What’s important is you respond to your individual child’s individual needs and you’re doing that so you’re doing a great job We had to try three different bottles before we found one that worked well for my son. Dr. Brown’s and Lansinoh were the ones I got recommended a bunch but they weren’t great for us as we could never get the flow right to stop him from choking or spitting up for being too fast or getting ANGRY because it was too slow. Philips Avent Natural worked best for us It’s okay to try things and adjust when they don’t work. That’s not failure, that’s wisdom

Philips Avent Natural. The Avent Colic, Tomee Tippee, and Dr Browns all had my baby struggling to latch and gave him nipple confusion or he would click and leak milk everywhere. The Evenflo Wide Neck one is amazing for breastfed babies too but my guy couldn’t figure out how to latch onto it.

      Thread: "thoughts on nanobébé bottles?"

We like them! We have the "normal" bottles, not the breast shaped ones. We were gifted a bottle sampler box and it was the first one we tried; baby took to it pretty well. My husband liked the feel of the bottle in his hand. We also like Philips Avent Natural or whatever they're called. In a pinch we've used Lansinoh, but we're not huge fans. Honestly, your LO is so young - try out different bottles and nipple flows if you can! Our baby did not like Comotomo or Nuk, and we (as the parents washing bottles) didn't like Dr Brown's. It was a lot of sampling what worked for both baby and my husband (he was primary bottle feeder, since I BF up until a month ago).
