Thread: "Using breast milk with a bottle"
Per our LC: The best nipple shape for mimicking baby’s latch are the kinds that go wide to narrow, not the ones that look breast like (such as como tomo). Examples: * Lansinoh Natural Wave (we use these, after trying every bottle brand- we use a slow flow Pigeon brand nipple with them), fit with the Phillip Avent glass bottles. * Evenflo Wide Neck * Dr. Brown’s (has glass bottle option) Wide Neck Okay at mimicking: * Phillip Avent Terrible at similar latch muscles: * Como tomo

Thread: "Glass vs Plastic Bottles?"
* I'm a total klutz, our floors are hardwood and tile, and our countertops are that awful ultrahard quartz that destroys anything with the tiniest bump. Our glass bottles (Phillips Avent) made it through baby number one just fine and are on deck for baby number two in a few months. If you're really nervous, you can get [silicone sleeves](https://www.google.com/search?q=silicone+sleeve+for+glass+baby+bottle&sca_esv=b6ab7d9e5410acba&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS1096US1096&ei=0aPcZeOuCPL9ptQPxe2h8AM&oq=silicone+sleeve+for+glass++bottle&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiIXNpbGljb25lIHNsZWV2ZSBmb3IgZ2xhc3MgIGJvdHRsZSoCCAEyChAAGIAEGIoFGEMyBhAAGAcYHjIGEAAYBxgeMgYQABgHGB4yBhAAGAgYHjIGEAAYCBgeMgYQABgIGB4yBhAAGAgYHjILEAAYgAQYigUYhgMyCxAAGIAEGIoFGIYDSOsRUOICWIIIcAJ4AZABAJgBYKABtAGqAQEyuAEDyAEA-AEBmAIEoALDAcICChAAGEcY1gQYsAPCAggQABgIGAcYHpgDAIgGAZAGCJIHATQ&sclient=gws-wiz-serp) or go for [Chicco Duo](https://www.chiccousa.com/duo-bottle/), which has a plastic outer for lightness and durability and a glass inner lining to protect against microplastics contamination. * Of course glass can go in the dishwasher; you use it for your water glasses, don't you? It's actually far more dishwasher-safe than plastic. * Bottle nipples are silicone and sometimes latex rubber.

I use the glass Philips avent bottles. There is some discourse with their nipples though. The holes can be super tiny on the smaller sizes. If you already have those bottles maybe try a different nipple size before purchasing a whole new set.

Thread: "Are Philips Avent bottles/ nipples absolute trash or am I an idiot."
We swear by the glass avent bottles and I always disregarded the month timeline and went by the baby’s intuition. If the baby seemed frustrated at the flow rate, I’d upgrade them. If I moved them up too fast and they’re choking on the milk/can’t swallow fast enough, then move back down until they’re ready. If you think about it logically, once a mother’s breast milk comes in after the colostrum, it’s not like natural flow rates change that much on a perfectly scheduled rate lol. Based on how I pumped, my flow rate was very similar from 2months to 6 months even though my baby moved up 3 nipple sizes during that time. And the baby wasn’t complaining on the breast so logic 🤷🏻♀️
Thread: "Philips Avent VS Dr. Browns anti-colic bottles - what’s your preference? My baby will be bottle fed only as I have no breasts."
I have heard that it’s hard to clean the Dr Brown bottles due to all the part components each bottle has. As of now I have loved using Phillip Avnets glass bottles, although, the nipples it comes with is too much of a flow so you have to buy a slower flows if using for a newborn. I also have the ani colic plastic bottles and those are nice as well. They really do take out the bubbles like it’s designed to do. I’m for team Phillips Aventn

You can get different flow rate nipples for Philips avent. The ones they come with are definitely too fast for a newborn, but you size up as they get older

My first baby used the Philips Avent glass bottles for combo feeding (breast and bottle) and we didn't have any problems. I'd recommend asking your own health care team if you're concerned about this triangle rule since Instagram influencers have so much conflicting advice. One option for your registry is the [bottle sampler](https://www.westcoastkids.ca/bottle-sampler-box) pack from West Coast Kids. It's 1 of each of the leading bottles, so you can try them all and buy more of whatever you and your baby prefer. I wouldn't recommend the Baby Brezza. I never had one because making formula and warming up bottles isn't that difficult and because the internal parts seem hard to keep clean. However, I would recommend getting a bottle warmer and a bottle sterilizer if possible.

You can still buy Philips Avent glass bottles, if that helps. They're pretty widely [available](https://www.target.com/p/philips-avent-glass-baby-bottle-with-natural-response-nipple-4oz-3pk/-/A-84084513) in the US at least. Used them with my first breastfed baby and am about to reuse them with my second.
We loved Philips Avent. Super easy to microwave his milk once we weaned, too. And you can deep clean it so thoroughly. I never felt like our plastic bottles were clean after we used it for milk. We had 2 shatter in a total of 18 months but no injuries and that was only when my son aged up to toddler and started throwing things around. We shouldn’t have let him walk on our stone floors with a bottle, it was our fault. I really wouldn’t worry about the glass. It’s so freaking convenient.
Quick PSA - make sure when you put the Avent bottles together you vent the nipple properly.

Plus one on the bottles sampler!
Baby has his own likes but also, me and my husband liked different bottles lol
I like Philip’s avent and he liked dr brown. Get the sampler, I added it to my registry. After that you can just order more from Amazon.
We don’t have brezza for formula making either, I don’t want to add another thing to clean and maintain honestly. Plus less counter top space (condo life in Toronto)
Even for cleaning unless baby is high risk, we didn’t bother. We sanitized once and every other week in boiling water. For regular use soap and warm water or a dishwasher cycle was good enough.

Don’t overthink what bottles you get. Just get a set with newborn nipples from a decent brand. Some babies are picky, but most aren’t. If the ones you get don’t work, sell them on FB Marketplace and try something else. I went with Phillips Avent glass bottles.
Same! Our baby and we hated them. And they made our first week and a half horrid. Our LC recommended them and they were soooo slow that feeds were bleeding into one another. I’d literally be feeding for like 1.5 hours, get 20 minute break before he was hungry again. We switched to evenflo balance wide, and the nipples came with plastic bottles but fit our Phillips avent glass bottles. They’ve been great.
