Thread: "Hands free breast pumps"
Is this your first baby? I wouldn't want to get a wearable pump as your only option if you don't have any experience with them. They work for some people, but not great for others. I would get a Spectra or Motif if this will be your only pump. You can decide to purchase a wearable afterward if you end up exclusively pumping and need a handsfree option. I have a Motif Luna and a Spectra S1 from my first baby and got an Elvie Stride for this baby. I had coworkers who would pump using the Elvie Stride during meetings and it was relatively quiet. It was only 10 dollars extra with my insurance. If money wasn't an issue, I would have gone with the regular Elvies.

Thread: "best and most affordable breast pump."
One, do not pump until you have baby unless directed by a doctor. It can cause contractions and put you into preterm labor. Two, if you're in the US, your insurance will cover a breastpump. Go to Aeroflow Breastpump's website. Three. Spectra is the best, there's some minor differences between the pink and blue one. Besides that, Motif Luna and Medela Pump in Style are good. For manual, I love the Medela Harmony but honestly they're all similar. Four, what's life after baby is born looking like from here? Are you staying home? Working/school? If you're staying home you may find it easier to just nurse and not bother with pumping, but having a pump on hand isn't a bad idea regardless. If you're working, depending on the job, you may want wearables which would change the pump options. You said you're okay with a wallplug so I assume that's probably not an issue right now. I wish you luck!

Thread: "Which Momcozy wearable pump and why?"
My mom cozy s12’a were great… while they lasted. I got 2 replacements before a full refund and I wouldn’t buy their pumps again. If you read further on reviews they are notorious for faulty motors and as exclusive pumpers we NEED reliability. If I could go back I’d just invest in some better ones (I was looking at Elvie or willow) or get wearable cups for my Motif Luna. I’ve started weaning so it doesn’t make sense for me now, but I just really don’t recommend momcozy long term. Great customer service, terrible products. It’s important to note my first replacement was issued on December 26th. My baby was born December 9th and stopped latching at 5 days old. That’s how long one of the pumps lasted the second one went out in February. The first replacement went out in March. I gave up in April when the last one stopped working and only use my wall Luna. I replaced my inner parts multiple times I assure it wasn’t a me problem, I urge reading all the reviews you can.

Thread: "Which wearable breast pump would you recommend as a primary pump? (FTM)"
I loved the momcozy s9. Was going to get the s12 but I heard there were some cons that hadn't been fixed yet (this was over a year ago) but they might have been fixed. There were instances where my momcozy got more output than my wall plug in one (motif luna). Super easy to clean, not too loud so I felt comfortable using them at the pumping room at work. Seemed very solid. I did drop one onto a hardwood floor and the buttons did stop working eventually because of that, but that was also my fault
I switched from the Spectra to the Motif Luna with my second and liked it way better. More comfortable, got more milk too. I would definitely make a switch. Spectra is so highly rated but that doesn't mean it's the best *for you.*

Whichever one you can most easily throw out the window or light on fire 💕 Sorry, just kidding, I hated pumping but it wasn't my Motif Luna pump's fault as far as I know. I think it worked fine. Figure out your flange size though, that really matters (and I've mentally blocked how you even do that...I think a lactation consultant recommended me a size)

I like the Motif Luna! The fact that your insurance fully covers the battery version is awesome! I had a $30 co-pay for it, but I thought it was totally worth it. It’s also compatible with Spectra parts, which makes finding replacements much easier since the spectra is so popular

My wife uses the Motif Luna and says she really likes it. The three parts - flange, valve, and bottle are really easy to clean Insofar as an app, Baby Daybook is by far the best thing we've ever used. The free version is sufficient but we paid the $30 to upgrade and love it

Thread: "Exclusive pumping - what’s the best pump?"
Personally, I believe any hospital grade pump is great. I pump at work and in the car on the way to work. I use a Willow for on the go and Motif Luna. I find my output is exactly the same. If you need to, you can order a set of pumpin pals flange inserts. This is the key piece to emptying my breast for a few reasons: 1. I have slightly flat and very small nipples so my areola gets sucked into a traditional flange and blocks my milk ducts. The silicone pumpkin pal basically pulls only my nipple into the flange instead of my whole boob, it’s great. 2. Its silicone so it’s really comfortable and you don’t need to worry about pain or using creams. 3. You don’t need to replace the parts every three months. According to the website, as long as you care for it correctly, the flanges don’t need replacing like traditional flanges. I wake up in the middle of the night to pump even though I breastfeed while I’m home so the answer is yes. It won’t last forever though. *in my opinion, pumping is the hardest thing I’ve had to do postpartum when it comes to my baby. I can sit down and BF all day long but having to pump every 2-3 hours and clean all my parts after each pump, then pump on my way home from work... it’s freaking mentally and physically exhausting. Good luck :)

I’ve heard good things about baby Buddha being able to increase supply - I just ordered one to use with wearable cups to replace my momcozy m6s. The baby Buddha is very “hackable” with other parts. I also have a motif Luna that I really enjoy that people often compare to the spectra.

I got the motif Luna with battery so I can move it around the house with me as well as the momcozy s12 pro. I find the Luna more efficient and comfortable with the correct flange size (I use the pumpin pals flange set) while I need to get a better flange size for the momcozy. The momcozy pump is uncomfortable on the same suction settings as the Luna and you can’t adjust the frequency of the sucking action only the suction strength so you lose a mode of customization. Also I need a larger bra for the wearable than for my normal nursing/pumping bra from kindred bravely.

It is a great pump!! I can tell you exactly why it doesn’t get love. The company is full of great people too. So the motif Luna is essentially the same pump. It’s owned by Aeroflow, the largest DME in the country. Aeroflow won’t carry the cimilri because it’s direct competition so it makes it super hard for cimilri to be put in the world. You probably live in the north east? The parent company is in Massachusetts.
