Thread: "Just buy the expensive baby carrier"
I love the Tula. The Ergo baby Embrace for her first months was also just right. The ergobaby omni is just too much for me. It feels so bulky. We kept it for husband but her never uses it anymore. Husband liked the babybjorn mini for the newborn times. The moby wrap was also nice for the newborn times but was a pain to wrap and unwrap when I was a sleepless zombie. Also the momcozy/tush baby hip carriers are nice in toddler days for when baby wants to be held but not confined.

I’ll deinfluence you a little. Work got me an Artipoppe because by the time I went on leave I didn’t need anything. I also got a hand-me-down Baby Bjorn and Ergo (I actually have no idea which Ergo). I also got a Moby wrap. My baby was too small for a structured carrier for ages and then she would cry in structured carriers until she had head control. I used the Moby exclusively until she was about 4 months. I actually will get a BabyDink next time because I found the soft wrap so handy in the early days. Now she’s older she’s in a structured carrier. There’s barely any difference between the Ergo and the Artipoppe. I mainly use the Artipoppe because it is a little easier to get on alone but really they’re much if a muchness. Don’t use the baby bjorn at all - pain to get on and I don’t think baby is comfortable in it.
Thread: "What's the big deal with the Happy Baby Carrier?"
We have a happy baby - I paid $180 for a used twice one on the fb group. I love it - extremely easy to use, lighter than any others we tried, my husband (over 6 feet) and I (5ft 2) can both use it, and it’s comfy for my little guy. All of this to say it is worth it, but people can get a little nutty for them. Before our HBC, we had a Lillebaby all seasons that I hated, and a Moby wrap I also hated. Hated the Lille because there were so many things to adjust/touch/move that I gave up. Hated the Moby because it never felt secure. I probably would’ve been happy with any apron style carrier, the Happy was just the first and last I tried! Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any questions if you have any specifics!
Thread: "Baby carrier which to pick!"
For the first few months we used a Moby wrap and I honestly can’t praise it enough! Extremely comfortable for both parent and bub and very easy to use. After that, we used the Tula Explore carrier. Again, SO comfortable. Very easy to put on and adjust. It also comes in a lot of really beautiful patterns which is a plus. Edit to add: r/babywearing helped me a lot!
Thread: "Which one is better for a newborn"
for newborns, a wrap is the best option. despite being within the weight restrictions, my son's feet turned purple in structured carriers until he was 8 wks old. their nervous systems are just very underdeveloped for being worn like this. i recommend the Moby wrap for a new new baby, then move to a structured carrier after that. and for structured carrier i recommend tula free to grow! with all the counterfeits on amazon i would buy a carrier directly from the manufacturer, not amazon

We also got two! The nuna cudl and the moby wrap, Both were on sale, I believe the [cudl is the “clik” version but not positive.](https://www.dillards.com/p/nuna-cudl-clik-4-in-1-baby-carrier/515562254). We bought one on sale from Nordstrom for around 90 dollars and the second for 70 second hand. The moby wraps were 25-30 dollars (from tj maxx, Disney ones) We wanted something for the newborn stage that was adjustable as well as one that we could whip out and throw baby into without fiddling with anything. Another consideration is that we live in Florida and it’s HOT most of the year. Something that had ventilation and a sun shade was a must (that’s why we got the cudl.)
Thread: "The Ergobaby 360 Hype"
I used the Moby and my husband used the baby K’Tan when she was a newborn. Now that she’s bigger, the ergobaby is fantastic. I got it off fb marketplace from someone in my neighborhood - it was practically brand new so it helped that we didn’t pay full price. She’s almost 6 months old and 17lbs ~ and it’s quite sturdy yet comfortable.

Look for used wraps and carriers on FB marketplace! I used a Moby wrap in the beginning which I liked and found a Lenny Lamb carrier at around 4-5 months which I adore <3 Ergobaby Embrace also has a good reputation for the first few months if you don't want to wrap "manually"
Thread: "Best wrap for newborn?"
The Moby probably just wasn’t tight enough. I have the Solly which is very similar, and you’re supposed to put it on “swimsuit tight” because it’s a little stretchy. I love the Solly! My baby is 2 months, 10 pounds.
Thread: "Best wrap for newborn?"
The Omni 360 is honestly not all that great for tiny babies, it's often too bulky and not very supportive. Most people don't tighten stretchy wraps enough hence the sagging, although even with a perfect fit, baby will sink over time. Like the other commenter suggested, posting fit checks will help gauge the problem. If you still decide they don't work after that then maybe look into woven wraps. They don't stretch over time like a moby wrap. Something with gsm of 180-220 in your standard combed cotton I'd perfect for newborns. https://wrappingrachel.com/2019/05/05/guide-to-buying-a-woven-wrap/?amp=1
Thread: "Mabé, Tula, or Momcozy?"
Unfortunately Artipoppe spends a lot on Marketing and just has a huge influencer/fan base. FWIW they also have an referral program so people who buy their products are incentivized to get MORE people to buy Artipoppe products (especially using their “discount code”). I promise you, there are many, many carrier brands out there that are comfortable, quality, and reputable. You just may hear much about them because they don’t do the same influencer-style marketing like some of the brands you mentioned. That being said, if you are short you may want to look at an apron style carrier as an option which will be a much thinner, fabric waistband. A big chunky waistband carrier may take up a lot of torso space on you if you’re short and feel bulky (which you said you don’t want)

Checkout r/babywearing. Its the most supportive parent community hear imo. I really liked the stretchy moby wrap in the first four months especially for naps and short errands. If I was planning a longer walk and something like a hang out then Ergobaby embrace. Though if I knew then what I know now I would’ve invested in a half buckle carrier from somewhere like Lenny lamb or one of their other adjustable carriers and just had one carrier.
Thread: "What’s the best wrap/carrier for a newborn baby?"
I love my moby wrap. And my baby loves it too.
Thread: "What’s Your Holy Grail Carrier for Babies?"
My ergo baby Omni breeze. It has been a godsend. Our girl is only 6 months but we’ve used it pretty much since birth and she has always been so good in it. In fact, on days when she is refusing to be put down, she starts to dance when I bring it out because she knows what it does lol. It’s worth mentioning that I run very hot and I do run warm in this but I can only imagine that other carriers would be worse as this is the breathable option. I tried the moby wrap and just didn’t like it at all, the long extra cord just stressed me out. Plus I love being able to use the Omni in like every way possible. My neighbor generously bought it for us from our registry and it has been one of our most used items. Like almost daily.
Thread: "Let’s talk BAD carriers"
Thick stretchy wraps like the Moby. All stretchy wraps sag, thick wraps can't be wrapped as snugly as thin wraps like the Solly wrap, and they end up sagging all the same but being much hotter.
Thread: "Baby carrier which to pick!"
I would 100% recommend joining Aussie babywearing group on FB and utilising a baby wearing consultant if there is one near you. I had a Baby Bjorn gifted to me secondhand and it wasn’t great in terms of comfort and hip development, the way baby’s legs just hung out of it. I was getting influenced by socials and initially wanted a chekoh or antipoppe until doing more research re comfort, safety and usage. I used a Moby Wrap for 4 weeks until bub wasn’t comfortable in it anymore and then bought a Neko Switch and it is amazingly comfortable, bub sits in there in a nice M shape with a C curved spine for hours and it is easy to use as well as looking great.
Thread: "Do any newborns actually tolerate the Ergobaby 360 Omni, or are they just selling us a bill of goods?"
My husband and I just tried our Ergobaby 360 Omni today We bought the infant insert anyways bc he seems way too small, even though the box says he should fit 🤷🏻♀️ When we put him in he still seemed way too small and we couldn’t figure out how to get the straps from falling down I don’t really understand how 1 person is supposed to buckle the straps to each other on the back either if you’re by yourself We’ve been using the Moby wrap, mostly my husband does bc all these wraps and carriers and things are so complicated I haven’t felt comfortable to really try it I just want something simple 😭😭😭
Thread: "Baby carriers?"
I have a Moby wrap and absolutely love it. My baby is three months old and we use it almost daily. I live in a city, so it’s great for when I want to run a quick errand (within walking distance), but don’t want to bring the stroller. Baby also takes great naps in it, while leaving my hands free. My husband uses it as well and likes it. My husband works from home, and can work while wearing baby in the wrap, so recently he’s been wearing the baby for a nap one or two days a week to give me a break, let me run an errand without the baby, etc. We also bought a more structured wrap for when baby is older, but haven’t used that yet.
Thread: "Okay someone just tell me what wrap to get! "
I lived in my boba wrap! (Personally I hate the Moby wrap, or at least the one I have, because it only stretches in one direction. The boba wrap stretches in both directions and is a lot more comfortable for newborn wear).
Thread: "Anyone buy a structured carrier after getting tired of the wrap?"
Yeah I quickly moved on from the Moby to the Ergobaby Embrace & I looooove it
Thread: "Baby Bjorn carriers bad for baby?"
Search the sub and you’ll see lots of people have somewhat of difficult time getting the proper fit. You can post pics for a fit check or see if there’s a local babywearing group in your area https://wrapyourbaby.com/babywearing-groups/ My husband primarily wore baby in a Moby wrap during the newborn months and eventually an ergobaby 360 that we bought brand-new from someone in our neighborhood when she got bigger.

Moby wraps are great for the newborn period. Once I got the hang of it, I found it quite convenient.
Thread: "What is the best Wrap you've used/have? Pros/Cons to a wrap vs a Harness?"
We used our Lillebaby complete and moby wrap basically from the beginning. The wrap has been a godsend because it’s the one basically guaranteed way to get her to sleep when she’s fussy. The Lillebaby we’ve used less, but is more comfortable for longer walks and I think will be very useful when she starts to get heavier. I also have a ring sling for quick in and out carries during the day. Honestly I’d recommend having several options because certain things just work better for different situations. Edit: ring sling is a maya wrap just to round out all the names.
Thread: "Baby carrier which to pick!"
I went down a similar path, soft wrap during newborn phase and then Tula Explore. I've heard the Ergo Embrace is good for newborns but otherwise I'd avoid a structured carrier until at least 4 months no matter what the manufacturer says (they just want to sell more carriers!)
Thread: "What do you get with the more expensive soft structured carriers?"
So helpful! I guess I do need the padding. I basically want the coziness of my wrap carrier but with better ergonomics. My baby loves the moby but it’s killing my back and he’s only 13lbs.
Thread: "Newborn carrier that can be used from birth?"
I liked the solly a lot for my June baby. I had a moby for my first and it was a lot thicker (hotter) than the solly. I also love my linen ring sling. Used it from birth and still use it now at 19 mo
Thread: "What newborn wrap do you guys recommend? [bc]"
The solly wrap is the same as Moby, boba, beluga baby (a Canadian brand and their buckle carrier is a solid option) , and many other brands of stretch wraps. It's just a stretch wrap and a few baby wearing brands make their own versions. Look them up on your local fb and you'll find many people selling theirs often in brand new condition. You may also want to look at half buckle carriers Highly recommend shopping Little Zen One.ca if you want access to a variety of wrap and carrier brands but shipping from Canada. Also, True North is a Canadian brand that makes superb ring slings and more all in Canada. Their wraps are regular, non stretch, though. Their customer service is really fantastic (I emailed to ask about a colour restock and their reply was to custom make me one of that colour with remaining fabric and ship it within the week!) I have a moby wrap that I got from a friend, and for my first, I had a no-brand knockoff from Amazon. There is no difference. No need to splurge on the name brand on this one
Thread: "Best carriers for newborn and babies?"
I’m a FTM to a 9 week old so don’t feel totally comfortable making recommendations but I love our moby wrap (used from 5 days old) and Tula free to grow (used from about 2 weeks old)! The Tula is hands down my favourite for out and about, it’s so easy to pop him in and out of for Costco trips, hikes, dog walks, etc. I mostly use the moby around the house because I don’t like wearing it while baby’s out of it (tho I know lots of people do) and tying it every time I put him in is a hassle when I’m not home. I did recently use it camping to tuck him out of the rain under my coat and it worked great to have him so close and snug.
Thread: "Newborn carrier that can be used from birth?"
I got 2 carrier when my lil guy was born: a moby wrap and an ergobaby embrace. The ergobaby embrace was nice when he got big enough (within 2 weeks) and is fairly easy to use. After a few tries, though, the moby wrap has been quite easy, and I like it a bit better for napping because it keeps him in a more comfy position and I can tuck the back of his head into the shoulder pass. It's really nice that with stretchy wraps you tie them and THEN put baby in. But the stretchy wraps are also 8lbs+ (or at least the moby is). Now I'm graduating to learning woven wraps, wish me luck 🤣.
Thread: "Anyone buy a structured carrier after getting tired of the wrap?"
Like many others we also have different wraps depending on need. My husband uses an ergo a au omni breeze exclusively, and always has. I used a moby wrap before she fit into the ergobaby, and I bought a woven when she was about two months old that I used for a bit, then summer hit and it got very hot. I also at about 3 months-ish bought a minimonkey mini sling (it’s like a ring sling but with less adjusting) and honestly that’s the one that has gotten the most use. It’s mesh so it breathes well and it’s super easy and quick to put on/take off. That said now it’s cooling down I plan on returning to my woven because it is warmer for baby. I’m also looking at getting an onbuhimo but haven’t pulled the trigger yet because she’s not sitting independently yet, but I think that will be easier for back carries until I work out the woven wrap and I am really looking forward to back carrying for getting more done around the house on clingy days!

We used our Moby wrap SO MUCH.
Thread: "Holy Grail Product."
The first 2-12 weeks or so, our Moby wrap. Once I learned how to safely use it was awesome for my contact napper.
Thread: "Is Konny a “real” brand?"
They are legit, and I love the flex carrier! It’s a perfect combo between structured carrier and sling for when she was little. Easily fits in the diaper bag for on the go, much quicker than a moby wrap for around the house, and stylish. I mostly used it for contact napping around the house. I’ve worn it for smaller hikes in a pinch, but would recommend something more structured if you are out and about for more than an hour. I recommend getting the flex style though, as the I’ve read the original is hard to size correctly. Unless you are an XXL in the US, go with their smaller size. I was at the top end of their suggested size chart for the smaller size so ordered the larger one, and it was humongous.
Thread: "Newborn carrier that can be used from birth?"
>Now I just have to decide which wrap (he's due in July) any favorites? I hear Moby, Boba and Solly thrown around a lot Honestly they are all pretty comparable. I'd go with whichever one you can get for cheap on FB marketplace.
Thread: "Baby carrier which to pick!"
Hubby and I used the Moby wrap for the first month then moved on to the portier carrier. We got to test it out at The memo. We also had the ergo omni 360 but it was uncomfortable for us and we found it had too many buckles for our liking. The portier carrier has been great for us because we both can use it and adjust it easily to fit our frames.
Thread: "Baby Carrier Recommendations [ON]"
We got both the Moby wrap (which I hated) and an Ergo Omni (which I loved and still love into toddlerhood). You can't use the Ergo until like 13 lbs I think. If I have another baby I am going to try a Moby hybrid for early days.
Thread: "Baby carrier which to pick!"
The Moby wrap is amazing! I definitely recommend it too.
Thread: "Newborn carrier that can be used from birth?"
It’s basically just tshirt material but you do wrap it so it’s layered, it’s breathable but any baby wearing is kind of warm because they are little heaters haha
Thread: "Holy Grail recommendations?"
Mobywrap for hours a day the first year
Thread: "Baby carrier which to pick!"
PS start with a Moby or similar soft wrap though - Artipoppe won’t fit for a couple months. You can pick up a Moby very cheap on Facebook marketplace, often basically new.
Thread: "Which stretchy wrap?"
My 2 cents is to look for a stretchy wrap used! Lots of people get them as gifts, use them once or twice, then sell them for very cheap. The fabrics are different between brands, but there are advantages and disadvantages to each one. I liked my one-way stretch cuddlebug wrap, my husband preferred the boba and 2 way stretch. My friend hated her beluga (similar to Solly) because it was too stretchy and slippery, but liked the Boba. Another friend found the Moby too hot and loved the Solly.
Thread: "Which stretchy wrap?"
I have a Moby, Boba, and Solly. I hate the Moby and like the Boba and Solly for different reasons. The Solly is a lot thinner which is nice in the summer. I find it doesn’t stretch as much as the Boba which is nice in some ways and harder in others. I have to tie my Solly a lot looser than my boba because it doesn’t stretch the same. The Moby is the thickest of the three, doesn’t have much stretch, and attracts hair and lint like crazy. Might not an issue if you don’t have pets but with 2 dogs and 2 cats I can’t handle how hairy it always is when the other two are so much better in that regard. The Solly had a pocket on one end so it’s easy to throw in the diaper bag and keep contained. I see some people saying their babies got too heavy around 13-15lbs but my daughter was over 10lbs when she was born and I’m still wearing her comfortably in both my boba and Solly at over 13lbs and I’ve had chronic back pain since I was a teenager! So I think it’s pretty dependant on the individual when they start to feel too heavy for a stretchy wrap.
Thread: "Okay someone just tell me what wrap to get! "
I used the Moby wrap! It was like $50 and perfect for the first few months, I was not keen on spending more then that!
Thread: "Is there a huge difference in brands of stretchy wraps?"
I’ll reiterate what others have said in that different brands aren’t more or less safe when it comes to stretchy wraps, it’s the materials and textures that just come down to personal preference. I found the Moby wrap was thicker so I liked it for around the house when I was doing skin-on-skin, but the Solly wrap is sooooo thin and breathable that I used it anytime I left the house! I bought the Solly used, however, and I found it was worth having both options for the different scenarios! In the end, it’s whatever you’re comfortable using!
