Thread: "Using breast milk with a bottle"

Per our LC: The best nipple shape for mimicking baby’s latch are the kinds that go wide to narrow, not the ones that look breast like (such as como tomo). Examples: * Lansinoh Natural Wave (we use these, after trying every bottle brand- we use a slow flow Pigeon brand nipple with them), fit with the Phillip Avent glass bottles. * Evenflo Wide Neck * Dr. Brown’s (has glass bottle option) Wide Neck Okay at mimicking: * Phillip Avent Terrible at similar latch muscles: * Como tomo

My LC had similar recommendations! We ended up using the Dr. Brown’s Options (narrow) because you can remove the vent and they don’t leak.

My son Avent natural series My daughter Lansinoh natural wave. I have seen the suavinex zero zero bottles in Spain. By shape and texture I would think these mimick the breast best.

There’s a flow chart floating around on this subreddit that compares all the different bottles, try searching “bottle flow rates”. My baby has used lansinoh natural wave from the beginning and I tried a PA bottle once and it was like she forgot how to eat. Turns out the flow rate is so tiny that she could barely get anything out (and neither could I!) Even the level 5 PA bottle flow is slower than most other bottles if I remember right.

Another vote for the Lanisoh natural wave. My 11 week old refused every other bottle we tried but took to these ones like a pro. He has 1 bottle a day and he's still feeding from the breast just as well as he did before we started him on them.

Same! We started with the Lansinoh Natural Wave at about 6 weeks so my husband could occasionally take over feeding and she took to it right away (well, at least once she figured out there was milk in there).
