Thread: "Has anyone used Nanobebe bottles?"

All of the reviews I’ve seen of them say they are annoying to store and will often leak/spill. Not to mention that even though they look like a boob, they actually do not promote good/similar oral motor skills as feeding at the breast. The most “breastlike” bottle (I.e. that actually promotes similar oral motor skills and promotes proper oral development) is actually one where the baby can get the nipple deep into their mouth, use their tongue in a cupping motion, and have their lips widely flanged and relaxed. These nipples actually tend to be a bit narrower and gently sloped. Some great bottles/nipples would be the Evenflo balance+ bottles, pigeon bottles, Lansinoh, and dr browns narrow or Evenflo vented+ The Evenflo and pigeon come in glass, which I love! Much easier to clean and faster to warm up!

Thread: "Can anyone recommend a bottle their babies like?"

Our lactation consultant recommended the Evenflo balance+ bottles, and our kiddo accepted them no problem. Also worth noting that babies used to nursing often drink slower (even from a bottle) because they are used to that style of "paced feeding".

      Thread: "Best baby bottle poll"

I use evenflo balance + because I read they’re best for oral development, and unrelated to your goal they’re most similar to breast but it would make sense that the 2 go hand in hand , we also have a few Avent naturals and they’re easy to clean too

Thread: "Which bottles are we using? "

We use Pura stainless steel bottles with EvenFlo Balance+ and Pigeon nipples (as recommended by IBCLCs). Since glass is banned from just about every daycare we've looked into, this seemed like our best option to avoid plastics. We haven't tried the Pura sippy cup or straw inserts yet, but now that we're at 5mo we're going to be soon!

Thread: "Glass baby bottles: Lifefactory vs Evenflo Classic"

I’ve never heard of Lifefactory so I can’t speak on those, but we used the glass Evenflo Balance + bottles/nipples with my first and we loved them so much we’re planning to use again when our second is born! We were doing both nursing and bottles so the nipple shape was most important to us over anything else. I don’t think you should worry much about the baby holding the bottle.. honestly since they’re glass they’re pretty heavy, so by the time my baby was old enough to hold it up at the right angle and drink out of it himself, we had already fully moved on to straw cups and other things. If you do foresee letting your baby hold it themselves, evenflo has plastic bottles you can use just for those specific moments. But (especially if it’s your first baby) I would recommend you and your husband give baby the bottles! It was some of the sweetest bonding time I look back on with my first, and it goes by SO fast.

Thread: "What brand baby bottle worked best for you?"

My IBCLC suggested evenflo balance + bottles. Baby has had a good time going between bottle and breast with this nipple shape (standard neck bottle). I was using Philips Avent bottles before, and while baby took the bottle like a champ he had a hard time going back to the breast (it was suggested to me because of the long narrow nipple with wide base). Something to consider if you're also planning to breast feed.

Thread: "What bottle worked best for your breastfed baby?"

My baby is mostly bottle fed but I’ve been working with an OT to get her to BF for several weeks. OT mostly recommends Pigeon, Evenflo Balance+, and Lansinoh (listed in order of slowest nipple flow to highest). We were using Lansinoh until seeing the OT, who showed us that nipple flow was too fast for our baby. The Balance+ have worked really well and I believe helped my baby latch. They’re notoriously hard to get but I think there are some on Amazon now. We tried Pigeon SS nipples, which were way too slow (it was nice tho because they worked with the Lansinoh bottles). Anything saying it’s like the breast and similar is a marketing lie. A lot of other bottles listed here are very fast (like Philips Avent) and could give your baby a flow preference…or not! Every baby is different and some don’t develop those.

We’ve had good luck with the Evenflo balance +, there’s an anticolic vent on the nipple, no extra parts.

Same! I have a five month old and love them! We did the doctor browns ones with our first and i hated cleaning all of those parts and it turns out they aren’t ideal for breastfeeding mothers.
