Boba wrap

The Boba Wrap is a stretchy baby carrier designed for infants, allowing parents to carry their babies hands-free while promoting bonding. It features a two-way stretch fabric that provides comfort and support for both the baby and the wearer.

Pros (+)

  • Comfortable and cozy for newborns
  • Easy to use without buckles
  • Promotes bonding while keeping hands free

Cons (−)

  • Can be too warm for summer use
  • Less supportive for larger babies
  • May feel bulky compared to lighter wraps

Why parents like it

Parents praise the Boba Wrap for its comfort and the ability to keep babies close while allowing for mobility. Many find it easier to use than traditional carriers with buckles.

Common complaints

Several parents report that the wrap can be too warm for summer use, making it uncomfortable in hotter weather. Others mention that it may not be as effective for larger babies, becoming less supportive as they grow.

Best for

Parents looking for a cozy, hands-free way to carry their newborn. The tradeoff is that it may not provide the best support as babies grow or in hot weather.

Bottom line

The Boba Wrap is a solid choice for parents of newborns seeking comfort and closeness, but it may not be the best option for warmer weather or larger infants.

I like my ergo baby. He sleeps better in the boba, but the carrier is easier to get on and off without disrupting him if he is sleeping.

I tried the boba wrap and quickly realized I did not like baby wearing. Lol. Fellow single mom here.

Since you know how much you need of the boba wrap fabric, you could cut and hem it/have a tailor hem it. Cheaper than a replacement and you already know how to use it. I have the same carriers you do and share the same complaints.

My [Boba Wrap](https://a.co/d/dXenj1b) for those first 6 months saved me so much grief. Now (15 months) my [OXO Grape Cutter.](https://a.co/d/e9zzEDT) I use it every day.

How tight is the wrap before you put the baby in? The Solly should be tight like a swimsuit before you baby goes in. If that doesn't do the trick I'd recommend a fit check. Switching to the boba probably won't solve your problem, it's going to be similar.

I lived in my boba wrap! (Personally I hate the Moby wrap, or at least the one I have, because it only stretches in one direction. The boba wrap stretches in both directions and is a lot more comfortable for newborn wear).

An option we loved as first time parents was the Ergo Embrace. It’s super soft and snuggly, and very easy to get on and off. It worked well for our baby the week we got home from the hospital all the way up to about 5 months. That being said - I was super intimidated by the boba wrap and actually almost sold mine, but something clicked after 5 or 6 tries. Our little guy is outgrowing it now (about 17 pounds) but I still pull it out to calm him down when nothing else works. You can get them for $10 or so secondhand, that’s a nice way to try them without too much lost if you hate them.

I have my eye on potentially either a Hope & Plum or Heritage Designs stretchy for potential future kids. We had a Boba which I loved but it was very warm and the two-way stretch meant it wasn’t super useful past about 15lb.

I loved my boba wrap for at least the first 6 months. Any of the long stretchy wraps are probably great. My favourite carrier (I tried several) was also a boba that I got secondhand. If you can, try on a few carriers before buying one.

Thread: "Solly vs Boba vs ?"

I had a boba and LOVED it and bought a solly because it's so much lighter in fabric. I could NOT figure out how to get the solly to fit correctly and I am pretty confident in the boba wrap. My newborn was VERY fussy so I was wearing my boba every day. I later realized the boba is 2 way stretch and the solly is 1. I just don't like the 1 way stretch so I bought a "lightweight" boba but it's still pretty warm. Definitely post a fit check!

1. My brest friend. I bought two in case I need to feed him in the car! It’s like a little baby shelf. I can feed him and carefully maneuver him around. Its so much easier to use than a squishy pillow. It’s helpful if I’m holding him upright because homefry is HEAVY without the little shelf support. It’s like a tushbaby but multipurpose lol. 2. Tula free to grow carrier. Doesn’t make me hot like a boba wrap, and I can actually move around and do stuff unlike the solly wrap. He loves it, and it’s the only way he naps during the day. Idk what we would do without it. 3. Graco swing - we tried a bouncer and he wasn’t into it. The swing lets me get my coffee in the morning and sometimes even eat breakfast.

Solly is great, I also liked the boba wrap which felt easier to tie initially. Solly is better overall I think. When you’re wearing something for several hours a day you realize the price is worth it. Check fb marketplace for a used solly

We used a boba wrap for the first three months and then switched to the Ergobaby Omni Breeze. Both were fantastic and easy to use. Bonus points for being super easy to adjust because my husband and I are vastly different heights.

The solly wrap is the same as Moby, boba, beluga baby (a Canadian brand and their buckle carrier is a solid option) , and many other brands of stretch wraps. It's just a stretch wrap and a few baby wearing brands make their own versions. Look them up on your local fb and you'll find many people selling theirs often in brand new condition. You may also want to look at half buckle carriers Highly recommend shopping Little Zen One.ca if you want access to a variety of wrap and carrier brands but shipping from Canada. Also, True North is a Canadian brand that makes superb ring slings and more all in Canada. Their wraps are regular, non stretch, though. Their customer service is really fantastic (I emailed to ask about a colour restock and their reply was to custom make me one of that colour with remaining fabric and ship it within the week!) Thread: "What’s your favorite baby carrier?"

I had really good luck with the Boba wrap and Lille Baby (from Target, like 4-6 different ways to carry the little one). My favorite thing about the Lille baby was that I'm a Dad, and it looks more "tactical" and "cool" than a fabric wrap, but really, the boba was good until like 4 months when our not-so-little 96 percentile baby got too heavy for the fabric lol

r/babywearingu/dobbybelle· Mar 2020· ⬆ 3👍 Recommends

Thread: "A few questions about Lillebaby Complete"

I recommend finding a baby wearing group in your area to get help with fitting. I am 5’1” and I went to a baby wearing shop locally and when I told her I had a lillebaby she told me she knew it wouldn’t fit me because it was even too big on her and she’s 5’5”. I had gotten the lillebaby before baby was born and struggled every time I went to use it. Turns out it was also too big for my LO as well, she’s 5% for her height just like her mama. We ended up getting a Happy Baby Revolution and we love it! The panel is not too high for her so she can turn to look and we won’t have to wait for her to get taller to front face her. But for the first few months I used a Boba wrap, again LO was also petite so I had to wait for her to get to 7 lbs before I used it post c-section so I waited several weeks and made sure not to tie it too low near my incision.

Thread: "Have a boba, should I get a solly too?"

I have both and I liked how thin the Solly is but it’s also a lot tighter, which is good and bad. I liked using the Solly when she was younger (until ~6-8 weeks) but now I just use the boba because it’s easier to bounce her in while I walk around because of how stretchy it is (she likes the movement) and it’s also easier to tuck her head in when she’s asleep. Her head always seemed to fall out of the Solly which would wake her up. The Solly is much more “fashionable,” though, so if I was trying to look nice I’d probably use the Solly but these days I have no where to go lol Edited to add that you could always resell it on marketplace if you don’t use it much (or even if you do!).

Thread: "Which stretchy wrap?"

I have a Moby, Boba, and Solly. I hate the Moby and like the Boba and Solly for different reasons. The Solly is a lot thinner which is nice in the summer. I find it doesn’t stretch as much as the Boba which is nice in some ways and harder in others. I have to tie my Solly a lot looser than my boba because it doesn’t stretch the same. The Moby is the thickest of the three, doesn’t have much stretch, and attracts hair and lint like crazy. Might not an issue if you don’t have pets but with 2 dogs and 2 cats I can’t handle how hairy it always is when the other two are so much better in that regard. The Solly had a pocket on one end so it’s easy to throw in the diaper bag and keep contained. I see some people saying their babies got too heavy around 13-15lbs but my daughter was over 10lbs when she was born and I’m still wearing her comfortably in both my boba and Solly at over 13lbs and I’ve had chronic back pain since I was a teenager! So I think it’s pretty dependant on the individual when they start to feel too heavy for a stretchy wrap.

Thread: "Okay, so we know what baby products *weren't* worth it, but what products were?"

So far we LOVE our boba wrap - it's easier than the heavy car seat carrier when running errands, keeps people from touching/breathing on baby, and hubby can put her in it while playing video games 😂 We also love our bottle warmer - I planned on breastfeeding but it proved just too uncomfortable so I've been pumping. Thanks to the bottle warmer (ours is by munchkin) we can have a bottle ready for her in 90 seconds at the right temperature. Which is great because baby girl can WAIL!

i used a boba wrap with my first, it was great but it was super thick and very warm (great for winter less great for summer) and an older ergo for back carrying. this baby i got a solly wrap and i LOVE it, i have a wildfire ring sling that im still getting the hand of but i like the ease of quickly popping it on, and i got a hope and plum lark for when baby starts to be a bit big for the wrap and also to back carrying my now toddler

Thread: "Looking for a baby wrap carrier that is actually plus-size friendly."

I’m a 3x and the boba classic wrap works for me. Agree with the other commenter, you just tie it in the back instead of the front. I found them fully supportive until my first baby was about 20 lbs. The wrap says up to 35 lbs, so they don’t last as long when you’re plus size in my experience, but still work for a long while and are worth it. For longer outings I like to use my boba wrap with the Latched Mama Harbor Pullover and babe is super secure.

Thread: "What is the best baby carrier?"

The best carrier is one you are comfortable wearing and baby tolerates, and that is different for everyone. IMO it’s best if you can get a basic wrap to start and try in carriers at a store or before buying used. I use a boba wrap at home and the basic baby bjorn on the go since it has great back support. We didn’t want to buy anything fancy until we knew baby would like being carried so we got the Bjorn used in FB marketplace. If he still tolerates it once that’s outgrown then we’ll invest in a bigger capacity one. The wrap was suuuuuper handy in the newborn days when he didn’t want to be put down so he was carried in one way, shape, or for 24/7 for about the first week.

For such a young baby, you can use an all cloth carrier like KTAN. I also used the Ergo Newborn. I don’t recommend one that you have to assemble yourself like the BOBA because it will just be too annoying while you are sleep deprived.

I really loved my boba too, I had a different one with only one way stretch and it was much harder to get us both comfy. At about 13lbs we mostly transitioned to a buckle carrier so it didn't bother us, though I do miss our stretchy wrap snuggles.
