Unfortunately this carrier does not provide a safe fit for baby. The knees and bottom should form an “M” shape with support from the carrier from knee to knee while maintaining the spine in a “C” shape. This positioning puts the baby at risk for hip dysplasia since they are dangling from the crotch. Carriers that will position baby correctly are brands such as Ergobaby, Tula, Moby, Lillebaby… there are plenty of people on this sub than can help with recommendations if you’re interested!

There are varying opinions on this. Most babywearing educators I read from are not that concerned. Most evidence shows that these carriers can exacerbate existing conditions but are unlikely to cause them. Either way you don't have to throw out the carriers, there are ways to improve the ergonomics. Baby’s lower half has already been covered in another comment, but I would fold back the neck support so baby’s airway is clear and put the entire carrier higher up on your body.

This particular carrier, no. I don’t even know why they’re manufactured. I’ve noticed many Baby Bjorn and Infantino carriers don’t good a good fit. :(

And you are dead set on one of these carriers? Personally, I’ve always found the bjorn carriers with adjustable seats are terrible at getting a proper fit and M position in. I’ve experimented with them personally and I’ve never seen one in the wild where the person achieved a good fit. If you have to go with one of those two, then the Free. If you have to go with Baby Bjorn brand, then the One. If you are open to other carriers and brands… well I would look into the Tula Explore (my favorite!) or Ergobaby Omni 360x

You’re not wrong. I have the ergo embrace and I do think it’s a really nice, soft and easy to use carrier and good alternative to a wrap. However, they kind of just need to rest their head against your chest but there’s nothing to support it. I used it with my first and it wasn’t as much of an issue because I wasn’t chasing around a toddler, but with baby #2 I used it a few times and ended up getting the baby bjorn mini which I love (in the jersey fabric which is similar to the ergo embrace). I know baby bjorn isn’t loved on this sub but he’s still small enough that I feel I can get a decent m shape in his knees. What I love most about it is there’s absolutely no adjustment needed because everything just clips together so it’s the easiest carrier I’ve ever used and so easy to quickly put on by yourself. It also has excellent head support with the option to flip it down. I have the ergo Omni breeze which I love but now seriously considering the baby bjorn free because I love the ease of clipping in and not adjusting straps each time.

My LO is 14th percentile by weight and 87th by length (loooooong and lean baby!). The Bjorn Free and mini are the only carriers that work for LO’s shape/build.

I don’t know why they even make them. Some of their other products are the best on the market but their baby carriers are just straight up bad.

The mini doesn't have any back support, so if you have a bigger baby it can be rough. I switched to the BabyBjorn Free pretty quickly. My baby also loved the Boppy comfort fit. I dont have any experience with the ergo baby.
