      Thread: "Best baby bottles?"

Started with dr brown but honestly the amount of parts and washing … our baby was very colicky too so I felt like I had no choice. Until I found Avent. At first I tried the anti-colic which worked great until I found the Avent Natural bottles. The nipples have a built in air vent for colic and the shape resemble much like a real nipple so it’s very ergonomic. My baby loves it!!

dr. brown’s wide neck. annoying to wash yes, but the slow flow and shape helps a ton with latch-y babies and gassy ones. avent natural is another super solid option in my opinion if you want something simpler to clean. main thing is always start with slow flow. doesn’t matter if your kid gets impatient, fast flow just makes them choke and then they don’t want to work for the boob anymore. wide nipples also help keep the latch similar so they don’t get confused. and honestly, don’t commit to a whole set right away. get one or two of each and see which one your baby doesn’t immediately reject, [linking a post here](https://www.reddit.com/r/BestOfAmazonHQ/comments/1p7ynu2/review_best_bottle_for_a_breastfed_baby/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) that had a good checklist of what to look for as well

Avent Natural in glass. Most of the baby class we go to uses the same ones. We picked them because the LC recommended them. We also use Mason Bottles. I like those better, but baby usually prefers the Avent. Edit: I meant Avent bottles.

We use Avent Natural, with Mam as a back up. Avent Natural truly doesn't leak and Mams are cute, but too many pieces to be our main bottle.

The natural nipples were impossible to get any milk out of. However, we used the anti colic nipples without any issues

I have a close family friend who is an IBCLC and asked her if there’s a bottle she thinks is best because I’ve seen things about how they should pass the “triangle test” and whatever. She told me that the best bottle is the bottle your baby will take. I like the Avent Natural bottles because the nipples don’t leak if you just hold it upside down like a lot of other bottles like the Dr Browns do, but that’s just my own personal preference and thankfully both of my babies have liked them.

we're using avent natural ones. they're better than dr browns imo. my daughter was originally on dr browns for gas, reflux, and oral ties, but they just weren't great for her, i feel like the avent natural are helping her reflux more than dr browns ever did.

Okay here's the DL on avent nipples. Avent has 2 main types of bottles and nipples that are not interchangeable; Anti-Colic and and natural. The anti-colic are similar to a regular bottle like Dr browns etc but are a little bigger. The natural nipples are designed for breastfed babies to avoid "nipple confusion" etc. With the naturals, your baby has to suck in order to get milk, with the anti colic it will drip out slowly and doesn't take as much effort to suck out. SO if you start with naturals from day 1 you should be fine BUT if baby gets used to a regular type bottle (like mine did in NICU) then they may not want to take the naturals (mine didnt). I wanted to do breastfeeding and avent naturals when we went home from NICU but baby would only take the nicu bottles or avent anti colic and he wouldn't take my breast either unfortunately (and I tried to BF and pump for 6 months..) Anyway now he uses the anti colic and I really like those too. It really comes down to your plans to formula feed or breast feed and personal preference (yours and baby's).

My baby couldn’t get anything out with the size 2 when she was 1-3 months old. We realized I had two 3’s and she can get milk out of those but is now starting to collapse the nipple often at 4mo

The best baby bottle is the one YOUR baby will take 😅 That being said, our little girl will only latch onto mam bottles. We’ve tried her on Dr. Browns, Avent natural & Tommy Tippee. She did OKAY on the first two, but absolutely loathed the TT. Babies are weird 🤷🏻‍♀️

Avent Natural but skip 0 nipple - I went straight to size 2 the flow is slow so baby drinks at a better pace and they don’t leak. Make sure the hole lines up at the nipple and cap (I missed that my first time using it and got a very frustrated baby lol).

From my experience with Avent, they have the Avent Natural (which a lot of people, including myself and baby, love) and the Avent Natural Response. The Natural Response is the redesign of the Natural. The Natural nipples are clear, whereas the Natural Response are a little more cloudy.

I used Avent Naturals with my 3. Loved that theybare simple, sold everywhere. And standard size so the fit in bootie warmers, bottle pouches and whatnot easily.

My first loves Lansinoh and my second likes Avent natural but will use nuk in a pinch. For newborn weeks we found the flow on Tommee Tippee wayyyy too fast and it gave my kiddo tons of gas. But on the other end of that spectrum she’s only 2 weeks old and is already up to level 3 on the avents because those are Very slow flow. Ultimately though both of my kids tried 5 or 6 brands each so the single bottles you can get off Amazon or from Target (if you’re in the US) are your best friends til you find something that fits!

Thread: "Using breast milk with a bottle"

Whatever you choose youre going to want to find the smallest possible matching nipple to reduce a bottle preference. I found she would take different bottles at different stages. Newborn we used the Dr Brown's natural latch with a preemie nipple. Then the Avent natural with a size 0. We never went bigger than a 1.
