Thread: "Breast Pumps, the good, the bad, and the ugly?"
This is inspiring me to try my manual pump again! I used it in the very beginning but quickly replaced it with the Medela Swing Maxi. I like it, but it does take a long time and cleaning is a pain.

Thread: "Hands free breast pumps"
My SIL has the Medela hands free and loves it. I have purchased the Medela Swing Maxi (haven’t tried it yet cause baby isn’t here lol so don’t have a review yet.)
Also, if you’re looking to get one through your insurance, I absolutely could not recommend enough going through AeroFlow BreastPumps. This is not a paid promotion, they’ve just been incredible. They have so many online classes for you to take that have been so helpful for me. And they’re live classes, so you can ask questions and get them answered live. They also offer one-on-one breastfeeding consultations and birth plan creating consultations. Depending on your insurance, it’s all free. I have BlueCrossBlueShield and it’s all been free. You dont have to have purchased your pump to start taking the classes.
Edit: AeroFlow also has a class for picking out the best pump for you.

Thread: "Help, Is Wearable Pump Bra Worth It for Low Supply?"
I only started wearing my wearable a few weeks ago and am 7 months pp. My output actually increased by about 100ml a day! FWIW I was using the Medela Swing Maxi and now also use the Momcozy M5 for 3/5 pumps a day.

I have the medela swing maxi and a momcozy M5. The medela is portable but not handsfree like the momcozy. I use the medela as my primary pump and I really rate it. I have twins so probably have an oversupply compared to singleton mums but the medela got my supply up and has been great to use. I only just bought the momcozy for when I'm out and about and the medela isn't as useable (despite being portable). I did buy smaller 17mm flanges for both pumps so I would also recommend sizing down in your flanges compared to what medela put in the box.

Thread: "Overwhelmed by the pump choices out there. Medela freestyle vs Spectra S1 or 2"
Not sure about Spectra, but if you go for Madela you might want to take a look at the Swing Maxi. While it isn’t hands free, you can pair it with Madela’s pumping bra. Where e we live the both of them together cost less than the Freestyle and my wife is extremely satisfied with them
I have the Medela Swing Maxi as my main pump and the M5 as my portables. I do actually quite rate the M5 - I get equal output from it as my Medela, I can get at least 3 pumps off one charge and although it's a bit harder on my nips than the Maxi it's only an issue if I use it for like...3+ pumps in a row. So once I dropped my day pumps a bit and/or could pump while my baby played or napped and so use the Maxi more I went down to being less reliant on the M5 . But something to bear in mind if you anticipate using it a lot. I also have elastic nipples which might not be an issue for you. It's not extremely quiet though. People can definitely hear it. I had a plumber round the other day and he thought it was the shower pump he was working on malfunctioning lmao. Even though I know him because he and his wife attended the same baby classes and she also pumps! I think the Elvie Stride is quiet - but that has tubing so is less discreet in other ways. But my friend pumped for 40 mins next to me the other day and I only noticed when she produced them from her bra at the end.

I’m deciding on the S12 pro because I’m a little tired of setting up the Medela swing maxi and being wired although slightly portable… and this sounds so promising! Can you elaborate on how you fixed the user error please? Was it just positioning? The bulk ones doesn’t bother you anymore? Do you ever use it outside of your home?

Thread: "Best Breast Pumps Available In Canada for First Time Mom [NL]"
I have the medela manual pump and the medela swing maxi. I personally love my manual pump, but I only pump twice a day for max 20 mins each session. I feel like it really pulls my milk out the best and I can control the flow. But if I was pumping more times a day it definitely would get fatiguing. And when I’m not feeling like the work I use my swing maxi. Personally the swing maxi is good but a little annoying because I don’t like having two giant bottles attached to me. And it needed the bra as well to be hands free.
I was recommended the brand by a few lactation consultants. The only one I’ve heard to be “better” is spectra which I don’t believe is in Canada yet

Thread: "Best breast pumps?"
I looked at all the options and went for the Medela Swing Maxi after using their manual pump. I use it to pump for my partner to do night feeds on the weekend (so not full time use). I find it to be comfortable and convenient because I have the teat that screws onto the bottles so I just pump into the bottle and my partner can add the teat when he needs to. The teat is specifically for breast milk and so far it’s the best one we’ve used for baby as it mimics the flow of breast milk (slow flow) better than the mam and tommee tippee ones we’ve tried.
It came with 2 different sizes of flange which is helpful and the battery life is pretty good. I’ve been very happy with it as I bought it on sale from John Lewis and it’s worked really well. I haven’t tried any other electric pumps though so you might find another you like more!
