Thread: "Is the breast pump debate basically Medela vs Spectre?"
I used the Medela PIS for my first, and Spectra S1 for my second. I preferred Spectra. Output was the same but Spectra was quieter, smaller, had a nifty light, and was much easier to keep clean.

I’ll have to check that out! Yeah I mean hands free is nice, but like you I plan to pump in our “lactation room” (its a storage closet with a chair lol) so I’d rather get what works best. There are just so many options!

Thread: "Do you need a hospital grade pump?"
I’m a FTM and under supplier. My son was also a late term premie, so I started off with a Symphony at the hospital. I bought a Medela PISA and Spectra S1 (after the PISA started to semi-die on me). The Symphony emptied me the best, and my supply got decimated when I had to return it (moved/lost insurance). The Spectra and PISA were about the same, so I was annoyed that the Spectra cost so much more and has a learning curve to it. TLDR: if you have supply issues, try to rent the Symphony.

The new Medela PISA is tiny (only 1 lb) and only has two flange parts, which makes it amazing for quick set ups and easy to transport into the office. Honestly, I only ever pumped in the lactation room in the office, so being able to move around wasn't important to me. A pumping bra meant that I was hands free, and could bring my laptop if I needed to for 20 minutes, or just browse my phone while I pumped which is what I normally did.

Thread: "Momcozy SUCKS"
I have the momcozy S9. They just don’t have the pull I need to get milk out. They leaked for whatever reason. There would be times where no milk was pulled at all, nothing was wrong with the pump, and nipple placement was dead center. I only use them if I have to. I was using my Medela PISA, and it’s 5yrs old. The hard plastic flanges were cutting into the underside of my boob. I set aside some money for the Legendairy Milk Duette. It’s fabulous. Gentle but powerful. They had it for 1/2 off on their website, and I was able to use a code to get some of the price knocked off. It was $106 total. Shipping was free over $75. I get the softness of silicone and the feedback of hard plastic. So I actually feel empty.

I started with the medela symphony and I highly recommend renting it to establish supply. I have used both the new medela PIS and the spectra with the battery. With the spectra I bought the adapters so I could use my medela bottles/parts as I prefer them for storage and got a bunch from the hospital. The spectra has a screen which is nice so you can remember your settings and you can change the rhythm the suction uses. My output is roughly the same with both. I think the medela PIS is easier to clean. Answers to your other comment the difference between the S1 and S2 is one has a battery. Pumping should never hurt. If it does you likely have the suction too high or are using the wrong size flanges.
